Disorganized and Insensitive. I had a consult for an areola tattoo to correct scarring form surgery in April. Was impressed with the provider and delayed my stay in Arizona so I could have the procedure in early May. The DAY BEFORE my procedure I received a call - "Sorry, we forgot to tell you, the provider took the summer off and won't be back until August." I was upset but accepted it would be a three-month delay so scheduled for August and arranged a return trip. I explained my circumstance and asked that I be called with more notice if there were any future changes in schedule and booked my ticket back to Arizona for early August. Today, 7/9, I called to confirm my appointment. I was told "Oh, yeah so sorry but we haven't been able to replace that provider soooo....." No one called to tell me this information!!!! So glad I called and spared myself an even longer delay in getting my body back post-surgery and a wasted trip to Scottsdale. Now I have to start over with a consult with another tattoo artist before scheduling. I was also told "Sorry but it is out of our hands." Absolutely unacceptable explanation! I understand that providers quit. But it is 100% the responsibility of the front desk to at a minimum notify clients, esp with something this sensitive and the second time around. read more

Simply Body Art was recommended to me by my reconstruction surgeon after breast cancer. I lost my original boobs, but was able to have a new pair built. I just needed nipple tattoos to complete the job. I had put it off for a while... denial? Fear? I don't know. But I finally called, they had a cancellation that day, and I went in! I first met Maryann. Her whole studio is very clean and organized. She made me super comfortable and got to work on my tattoos. I inquired about eyeliner tattoos and she said yes, they did that, and the other artist could do it for me after she was done. Turns out the other artist is her daughter . I love that this pair works together. They have a beautiful relationship and they are both great artists. Both women are warm, compassionate, patient and professional. The eyeliner tattoos didn't work very well with me the first time it was applied. When I contacted them they said no problem, come back in a few weeks and they will reapply darker as the touch up. Maryann also provided me with all of the documentation I needed to send the nipple tattoo cost to my insurance. Apparently this is covered by most insurance. I appreciate how she foresaw what the insurance would need from me and helped make it easier for me to apply for reimbursement. Sooo, I would post pictures... but even tho they're tattoos, I think I would be violating some Yelp rules So a google search should show you something similar. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for a long while now, and am finally getting around to it! I got my eyebrows done with Hannah for my first time ever. I've never done any similar cosmetic procedure, not even tattoos, but I am so glad I took the plunge! My eyebrows have always been kind of underwhelming- patchy, thin in spots, and the tails were very thin and short. Used to be much bushier in high school, but the over-tweezing trend left them sad and sparse. After only three sessions with Hannah, I am so incredibly pleased with how they look when I wake up every day! We opted for a more natural approach, so they don't look too jarring or out of place when I'm not wearing any makeup, and it has definitely lived up to this intent. They look effortlessly gorgeous and compliment my face well. I feel like I look more polished and mature- but also younger at the same time? Not sure how to explain that haha, but both are good things! I am in my 20's for reference. Even when I want to put makeup on over top of my brows, it is much easier now that I have a clear guide to follow. In the pictures shown with this review, I am not wearing any makeup on my eyebrows in any of the shots. Only one of the shots am I wearing any makeup at all (the 24 hr after 3rd session), so you can see how they look with a bare face. I am wearing color contacts though, haha. I have labeled the collages to show a timeline of the progress. NOTE: I mistaking described two shots as "3rd touch up"- that was intended to mean my 3rd session overall, but it was only my second touch up session. Overall I am very happy, it has improved my confidence and happiness greatly. Not that I was unhappy before, haha, I just feel even better now! The value was more than fair, and experience enjoyable (even if I am a wimp when it comes to pain!) because Hannah is such a fun person to talk to. I have been wanting to get my brows done for a while, as they sort of disappeared as I got older and I've gotten really tired of having to tweak and fill them every day. That said, a weird or bad permanent brow job would be awful, so I kept putting it off. Hannah did my brows a couple of days ago and I really can't overstate how fantastic the result is. Maryanne is an artist. With baggy hooded eyes, I rely on many things to basically draw my eyes out. Liner is such a huge part of making my eyes appear but I'm not that great using liquid eyeliner. So this was a wonderful way to get the basic shape I could follow with liquid or gel liner. Even an eye pencil. With the right liner half of aging naturally and gracefully is handled. read more

I really wanted to love this place! It was recommended to me by a a fellow Scottsdale Mom. I initially went in to get my daughters ear pierced. I scheduled online and when I got there I was told I needed a second person there to hold her down. I guess it was in the description when I booked the appt. Ok fine. My bad. It would have been great to have a phone call or another reminder email sent since she is my first daughter but anyways I chalked it up to my mistake and that I needed to take more care in reviewing my emails. Fine. So before I left I made an appointment for me to come back and get my ear repierced since I had an infection and one closed up. I made the appointment with the receptionist and left with the appointment. Today I went back to the scheduled appointment. I live 30 mins away and hired a babysitter so I could make the appointment. When I got there I was told that the appointment did not exist. At that point the owner came out and said that she was booked solid till 7pm. No eye contact. No apologies. Just a clearly flustered person who didn't want to acknowledge that I had spent personal time and money to be at her business for a service. The receptionist told me that she made the appointment but she was expecting me to call back to confirm. At the time the appointment was made it was made with no stipulations that I needed to do anything other than to show up. Again the receptionist looked flustered and said she didn't know what to do so I left. It would have been nice for an apology or even some consideration but clearly they are busy and unorganized. So first time around I booked an appointment with a groupon which I stated when I made my appointment. When I came in they said that the groupon was only for Hannah, so they cancelled it. When I came in to Hannah, the place was clean, she was very professional, and she explained everything, which is why I'm giving the 2 stars. She put the lidocaine on and then she started. It was so painful that I almost had a mental breakdown and had to talk myself out of ugly crying. Look- I have had a natural child birth, I have MANY tattoos, I've had 3 piercings in special areas, and my eyebrows microbladed. When I tell you this hurt, IT HURT! I followed the instructions to a T and used the aftercare that Hannah gave me. Within 3-4 days the ink was gone. I started researching where it said that in a few weeks when it's fully healed the dark should come out. Welp, over a month later and I can fully say the money and pain I endured during this procedure was completely worthless! Recently recovered from breast reconstruction surgery and it was time for the last procedure in this horrific breast cancer journey- 3D Nipple tattoos. I saw this procedure on the TV show "Botched", and I was super excited to finally do this last procedure. Simply Body Art was recommended to me by my plastic surgeon. The tattoo artists were very professional and friendly. The setting was soothing like a spa rather than your typical tattoo parlor. They paid careful attention to cleanliness and safety. The initial consultation was free and they explained the procedure and recovery care in great detail. I was able to make an appointment right away and Hannah was my artist and was amazing. It took about 3 hours because the artist had to do the design and take measurements to make sure the nipples were even and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The procedure didn't hurt at all. The results were amazing and exceeded my expectations. I finally feel and look like a woman again. I had to go in 4 weeks later to have the color retouched which is typical for this procedure. She and I were amazed that my skin only needed a little touch up. I was so impressed with her work that I booked appointments to have permanent eye brows and eyeliner done. She used numbing cream throughout these procedures and these were also painless. I highly recommend this body art studio. They truly deserve 10 stars!!!! read more
