After being referred to by a friend, I made my appointment with Tina. Over the phone, the gentleman was pleasantly accommodating for squeezing me in so last minute. I arrived and was attended right away. Tina was a lovely and gentle nail technician. Even with the salon being short staffed & busy, I did not feel rushed. I was pleased by Tina's undivided attention because nothing's worse than your nail technician running back and forth between you and other customers, right? I also appreciated Tina taking the time to find a matching nail polish for my toes. My gel manicure and pedicure took about an hour and 15 minutes. I have been going to simply nails for a long time. I normally get acrylic nails and Cindy used to do them very well. I went to her for a change and wanted to get coffin nails instead of my normal square nails. She did a terrible job. She laid the acrylic down very uneven and bumpy. Nor did she grind the lumps out. I feel like it just depends on what your getting done and there are certain people who are good for certain things. I had long acrylic nails before these and I got a refill. I went to Tina and she was so lovely. I told her specifically how I really wanted to get short acrylics and I love them. Although they're not all looking the exact same compared to my other hand, it's pretty close. She also nipped at my skin quite a bit, but then again, who doesn't. COLORIST/RACIST NAIL TECH While getting my nails done with my sister, I was disturbed by my experience at the salon. My younger sister and I were getting our nails done next to each other. My nail tech LISA asks me how we are related. My sister and I smile and say we are sisters. My sister then gets up to wash her hands. Then it happened, Lisa says "Your lucky, you have light skin...pretty skin." Referring to the fact that my younger sister was brown skin compared to me. I asked her to repeat herself because I thought I didn't hear correctly. Then she says it again while now touching my arm to point out my skin tone!!! Now fuming, I couldn't believe she said that and I told her that black is beautiful and so is my sisters skin tone. Lisa continued to say "no you are lucky!" As my impressionable teenage sister returned to her seat I changed the subject so that she wouldn't overhear the racist and heartbreaking remarks about her skin tone. TERRIBLE. Made an appointment for two people, they separated us. No massage for pedicure or manicure for either one of us even after I asked for it during the service. I asked to sit next to my niece as that was the purpose of the appointment to sit together. My nieces nail polish was applied on so thick it streaked we asked for someone to fix it waited over 20 min and was told to just sit and wait... also when I checked the cuticle cutter prior to them starting I saw dead skin asked for a new pair to be used. No manager in sight he went to the back to lunch after stating he will get someone to fix right away waited over an hour person who fixed nail polish was about to put an additional coat of nail polish to fix until I stopped him. Appt 6:30 for 2 people left at 8:45 pm... everyone was available for payment at end... paid full price for half the service and still next morning 2 of my nieces nails were ruined as they applied it on top thick. read more

I give them a two at the most. I have never shown up for an appointment when Karen, the Owner, was READY for me. I can understand having to wait 10, even 15 minutes, but I wait EVERY TIME, anywhere from 20 to 45min. Tonight when I got there, Karen was in the middle of doing her clients nails. One of the nail techs told me my nails were too short to shape them, which was not true. When she would file my nails, she would start to cut me and when I would say "ow" she would start laughing. She was extremely rude to me. She get frustrated at me because I would ask her to not file the side of my finger that was bleeding, which she didn't stop filling my bleeding finger. Short and simple: not coming here again.. I knew my nails were too short to be shaped the way I originally wanted -almond- but the technician said she would try. All of my fingers are cut, bleeding, and are so uncomfortable.. Everytime I scratch an itch, it would feel like my nails are going to fall off my fingers. This place will ruin your brows, i came in requested a full set and brows. The full set was adequate despite the fact I requested rounded top and square was done with a rounded edge. This should have alerted me to what was to expect. The technician Ann was to do my brows, i had told her i wanted to brows to be cleaned up and would like to keep my shape. She showed me the mirror, i said they were even, She insisted they were.As a customer,she shouldn't have been arguing with me.At this point ,i didn't want to deal with it and left. Even when it is packed, they find a way to squeeze you in, and we really appreciate that. Also, the owners are our neighbors, so it's good so see them every once in a while. The employees are so nice, and they focus on their work wonderfully. Many people get their nails gel every time. I was looking at the 1 star reviews and they are mostly about gel nails. Let me tell you something, if you do too much gel nails, the toxins are not good for your nails, so they break and they shatter your nails, and there is not always a possible cure. This used to be a great place. USED to be. Unfortunately they don't care about customers who have been going there for 15 plus years. If you don't like the way something looks it's just too bad for you. I considered them my friends and recommended them to so many people. I finally stopped going when Karen (owner?) got outright rude when I tried to explain what I wanted. This was not the first time I had problems but I continued to let things slide. When someone wasn't nice, I'd think "oh everyone has a bad day" when i had to wait 15-30 minutes even though i had an appointment i thought "it's ok". But finally i just decided that they really don't care about maintaining a good business relationship with their loyal customers. They seem to think that they no longer need good consistent customers who keep going even though they always raise their prices. I've been a loyal customer of this salon since 2010. I've had good and eh experiences. The salon is always very clean and they're always super friendly. It ALL depends on the technician you go too. I always recommend Karen for eyebrows and long acrylic nails. She knows exactly what to do. Recently I saw Celena for my eyebrows, and she did them better than ever before. I also have been going to see Amy for my full sets, fill ins, and pedicures. Shes very fast, friendly, and will help you pick the perfect color. I wouldn't recommend this salon if you want fancy gel nails, without the acrylic powder, or if you wanted detailed designs. But, for SIMPLE nails, they've ALWAYS been my go to! read more

My wife has a professionally and beautifully nail done oversea in Taiwan. She wants to remove them in the United States and so found this "Simply" Nail. It was really "simply" done that hurt and bleed my wife's finger. They claim can be easily removed but is actually not. They still charge the money even the nail was not even finished due to the damages made to the nail. So if you have a simple nail, it's a choice to do it here. But if you have a professionally nail and care about your fingers, be aware of bleeding here. Overall, the experiment is very bad. The customer service are not quite helpful either. I was really hopeful about this nail salon, it's close enough to my parents' house and the mani/pedi doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but I was sorely disappointed. First of all, my nail technician was way more interested in watching the local news (she seemed to be very concerned about the Nordstrom closing in Dulles Town Center) than in my mani/pedi. Second of all, my manicure started to majorly chip (chunks of nail polish were coming off) on day two, while I was on vacation. My manicures usually last well over a week so I was very disappointed that this manicure basically started to chip as soon as I left the salon. Thirdly, not only did my manicure chip on day two, my pedicure chipped on day 6 (which is marginally better, I guess). This was extremely upsetting, given that my pedicures usually last about a month without chipping. After this experience, I don't think I'll be going back to this salon or recommending it to my friends. Although this salon is reasonably priced for the area, paying at least $40 for a mani/pedi (including tip) is still a lot of money and the quality of the mani/pedi frankly did not reflect the price that was paid for it. read more

Very bad experience with Lisa...don't know for the others, but Lisa did nit do a good job with my nails. Does everything in a hurry to catch the next customer. Came to remove my gel nails and she damaged my nails and fingers...two days now and I am still in pain. My left ring finger mail was ripped off. Never me again, with simply nails in Germantown. Besides the fact that the place was crowded I was pretty happy with my experience at Simply Nails. My friend and I went on a Friday evening around 7pm with no appointment (they close at 8). We waited about 20-30 minutes before we were seated at our pedicure stations. A guy who I believe was the owner gave us a heads up while waiting that they were cleaning 2 stations for us so we could be seated together. I thought the fact that he was there monitoring traffic was nice. They had a very good assortment of colors, the stations were comfy and clean, they had a tv in front of the pedicure area, the staff were all friendly and the prices were reasonable. I was happy with both my mani and pedi as well. Definitely plan on going back and already know what color combo I'll be getting. read more

The price for acrylic nails is expensive $65 plus tip! The lady who did my nails left my cuticles bleeding and in pain because of how hard she was pressing with the nail drill. This is my average star score based on 2 separate experiences for 2 different types of services. The first time I came here was for my very first Brazilian wax ever. Now that I have gone to other professional waxers, I know that this place does not train their employees even remotely good enough to reduce pain during this process. The wax strips were tiny, lengthening the whole process having to go little by little, making it more painful for a longer period of time. They also use baby powder on you before starting which I have been told is not the right protocol. They only have the one standard yellow wax, when there are several different hard waxes nowadays that greatly reduce pain. This being my first waxing experience, I was crying in pain and horrified thinking this is how it is for everyone. I have since been to a more experienced waxer and had the total opposite experience, with greatly reduced pain, faster appointment time and more hair removed. This salon definitely needs to revisit training their employees and update their process to more modern methods. That being said, I came here another time for a gel manicure, which was a much better service and experience. My manicurist did a wonderful job and paid close attention to detail. She even put on 3 layers of the gel which most places do not offer. This was done on Sunday and I expect the manicure to last well after today.
