The Baseline: For a salad place, the salads must have fresh, quality ingredients, it must efficiently make my salad, additional offerings must be available, and there should be something that makes me want to eat salad over other options. Food: The salad ingredients were fresh and varied. I went with the Chinatown salad which was pretty good and tasty. The portion size for the salad was very substantial and worth the price. I also got the Mexican Meatball soup which felt better on the rainy day I was eating it. The soup was very flavorful with enough spice. I also tried the humus and pita chips which was a fairly good humus. Overall the items were above baseline for quality and quantity, but I have had tastier salads. Service: Great service and I used the mobile app to order. This made it very efficient and the staff were very friendly. Ambiance: The inside of the restaurant was clean and well maintained. I wanted to share some honest feedback regarding a recent visit to the Hawthorne location on May 3rd. When the location first opened, what really stood out was the energy, attentiveness, and overall customer service. The staff was welcoming, the atmosphere felt positive, and it made us want to continue coming back. Unfortunately, during our recent visit, the experience felt noticeably different. When we walked in around 9:00 PM, neither employee acknowledged or greeted us. I completely understand that employees may be tired later in the evening, especially nearing closing time, but even a simple "hello" goes a long way in making customers feel welcome. I also asked for the restroom code so I could wash my hands before eating and was told the restroom was closed, despite the store not closing until 10:00 PM, which felt a bit unusual. As a business owner myself, I understand how difficult it can be to maintain consistency and keep staff motivated throughout long shifts. That said, it's often the small interactions that shape the customer experience and leave a lasting impression. I'm sharing this feedback because we genuinely enjoy Simply Salads and would love to see the Hawthorne location return to the level of customer service and enthusiasm it had when it first opened. read more

Visited another location months ago and fell in love with Simply Salad. This trip we were in about part of town and visited the Hawthorne location. This time I tried the Thai salad and the poblano soup. The salad was fresh, crunchy, multi layered with flavors and textures...perfection. The dark cloud was the Thai Peanut dressing. 100% void of flavor. My heart sank as we were back at our hotel preparing to attend an event so there was no way for me to salvage the salad. The poblano soup was also bland. My husband makes the soup at home so admittedly it's not robust with flavor so I wasn't expecting a flavor bomb. That said, the soup was watery and thin (texture should be between a soup and a chowder), and bland. I did meet Gabby and Elena. The grilled chicken they use on salads is covered in bland red sauce, makes salads unappealing. And the biggest creative debacle: The so-called caesar salad has spinach, carrots, corn, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, and avocado, all in a balsamic vinaigrette. Even if you like it, THAT'S NOT A CAESAR SALAD. Sometimes chefs can't help themselves from gilding the lily.

As someone living with a brain injury and who has a valid handicap placard, I rely on accessible parking. Seeing those spaces blocked was frustrating and concerning. I was on hold on another phone call at the time, so I came inside and asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with Esmeralda and let her know the handicap space was being blocked. She told me she would call the non-emergency number since I was already on the phone. She stepped away and later returned. When I asked if she had called, she indicated the phone line of their line was busy, even though it was around 10:30 a.m. and the phone was right beside her. Because I was concerned the issue wasn't being addressed, I called the non-emergency line myself and reported it. While I was still on the call, an employee went outside and moved the bikes. Accessible parking exists for people with serious medical needs and disabilities. Situations like this make it harder for those of us who depend on those spaces. After realizing the situation had not been handled honestly or with urgency, I felt uncomfortable staying. I requested a refund and left. I hope this feedback helps ensure handicap parking access is respected and protected going forward.
