Tofu Village is one of those places I've been going to for so long that I honestly can't remember when I first started coming here. It's always nice seeing the same servers over the years since they recognize us and always make sure we have a great dining experience. Even though prices have gone up a bit since I first started coming, the quality of the food has never changed, so it's still completely worth it to me. I almost always order the spicy pork BBQ combo, which comes with spicy pork and a soontofu. I like switching up the soontofu flavors each visit, and this time I got the kimchi pork with medium spice. Everything was delicious as always, comforting, flavorful, and super satisfying. The banchan really deserves a mention too -- the side dishes are such a great addition to the meal that sometimes I feel like I could make a whole meal out of just those alone. The service here is consistently great, and the food usually comes out pretty quickly. It's easy to wave down a server if you want more side dishes or need anything else, and I also appreciate that they leave a pitcher of water at the table so you don't constantly need refills. The restaurant ambiance itself is simple, but the food is really what makes this place shine. One tip: come during lunch if you can since they offer the same great combos for a lower price. 4 out of 5 people in my party got food poisoned to different degrees after dining at this restaurant. The only person who wasn't food poisoned didn't eat any of the tofu soup. But one person was immediately sick and the other three people were sick the following day with stomach aches and gastrointestinal distress. This is a small, family-owned Korean tofu house serving a variety of soondubu soup, protein combos, and bibimbap. Our group ordered a little bit of everything. Two of us went with the galbi combo, another friend ordered the bibimbap, and I chose the soondubu with chicken. The banchan arrived almost immediately after we ordered and included japchae, bean sprouts, kimchi, cucumbers, fish cake, and a few other small sides. While the kimchi and fish cake were enjoyable, I found the cucumbers and japchae to be a bit underwhelming. The meal also came with purple rice, but it seemed like there wasn't enough black rice mixed in to give it that signature color. The chicken in my soondubu was tender, and I especially enjoyed the pan fried tofu side dish as one of the banchan. Service was a little mixed. One of the waitresses was warm and friendly, while the other seemed less welcoming. They do offer value lunch combo Monday through Friday, but since we visited on a Sunday, the combo was around $30, which felt a bit pricey for what we received. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars. A lot of people in South By a claim this is their favorite Korean tofu spot and honestly it was very underwhelming. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that it's a little outdated, but nevertheless don't judge a book by its cover. The food was on the bland side and didn't remind me of your usual Korean food. The banchan variety was nice, but again it wasn't seasoned properly. I did really like the flat fish and thought that was unique seeing that on the menu. Amazing banchan! Love their fried tofu side dish that you don't really get at other tofu houses. Their other side dishes were great like cucumber, bean sprout, japchae. Really wanted to like this place but ultimately can only give it a 3/5. I ordered the short rib combo which came with the spicy seafood tofu soup, rice and banchan. The short rib barely had any meat and there were very little pieces given. The pieces were also over cooked, making it difficult to consume. On a positive note, the spicy seafood tofu soup and banchan were delicious. All this for $40 + tip is not worth imo, not even for late night munchies. Service was not the best. There was only one lady working but she wasn't really attentive and kept conversing with her friends. We waited a while for our card to be returned to us. read more

So I give my credit card and I signed the receipt with $5 tip making it $39 in total, but after a few days, I checked my credit card statement and this Tofu Village charge me $40 instead of $39. Please be reminded that the tip is only voluntary depending on how good the service is. Affordable and delicious. Every time I visit, it's always one woman running the place on her own. She takes orders, serves food, and clears tables--all by herself--yet everything comes out quickly, and she still manages to pay attention to every table. It makes the whole place feel really comfortable. They're open late, and there are quite a few solo diners, so it's easy to walk in without feeling awkward. Came here for a late night meal (9pm) and surprisingly it filled up pretty fast after we got here. I got the bbq beef combo with beef tofu soup and my bf got the galbitang. The tofu soup was pretty good. It's not overwhelming with msg. The spicy level could use some work though. Compared to BCD's spice, it ain't really much. It was actually a bit bland. The galbitang was SOOOOO good like suspiciously SOO GOOOD im suspecting there's a lot of msg in it. Either way it's still really good. The bbq beef was ok.. maybe I should've gotten the galbi instead. The food is glorious :) Before your meal comes out one of the servers will bring out the banchans (noodles, radish, cucumbers, kimchi, fishcakes, potato salad, bean sprouts) so many flavors and textures it was awesome. Hidden gem for delicious korean food in gardena. We walked in without initially planning to go here, but were pleasantly surprised by the generous banchan selection, friendly service, and solid menu options. Definitely an unassuming (but yummy) spot and the windows are shaded at night so it was hard to tell if the restaurant was closed or open. We were craving hot stone bibimbap and it hit the spot! As a Korean I can confirm that Tofu Village serves authentic spicy tofu soup, side dishes, & kalbi. It's about 15 min for the LAX airport (without traffic) and open till 1:00am friday-sunday. My family was starving after our flight and happened to find this place bc it was open till late. The tofu soup is very rich in flavor and full of meat/seafood. The side dishes are also very yummy. There wasn't a single side dish we didn't love. Lastly the kalbi was so tender and well seasoned. They season their kalbi without sugar! They are known for using korean pears and plum extract to make their Kalbi seasoning. I highly recommend getting the kalbi combo so you can taste this well cooked and seasoned kalbi. In my book, soup season is all year long and Soondubu/sundubu is one of my favorites. I recently discovered Tofu Village after coming here with some friends and it's now my go-to spot for soondubu. Tofu Village is located in a small strip mall with tons of parking. There's parking in front and a huge lot in the back. The restaurant is on the smaller side and the servers are friendly and check in on you often. You are offered tea or water as you sit and there is a nice variety of banchan (side dishes). I love the banchan here as it's mainly savory. The last few times I had Korean food, the majority of the banchan was on the sweet side which I just do not enjoy. I usually get the combo of soondubu and purple rice. The rice comes in a clay pot so it's piping hot when you get it. The presentation and the flavor is all very comforting and delicious. Another bonus of coming to this strip mall is that there's a bakery a few doors down so you can get a pastry for tomorrow or dessert! read more

Although I'm very used to eating at a lot of Korean Tofu places - and I love doing so particularly during chilly evening weather - Tofu Village distinguishes itself from many other Korean Tofu restaurants I have been to by offering a great variety of banchan, a really great broth in their soups, and great service from its friendly owners. I ended up getting the mushroom tofu soup, which was deliciously cozy and by itself, just right with the savoriness level. I also love how purple rice is the default option here. But the real highlight here for me was the banchan which included not so common small dishes such as lightly fried tofu and spicy marinated seaweed. Service here is as I specified earlier...great. I did enjoy their galbi tang and galbi short ribs though. The galbi tang was a very large portion of glass noodles, flavorful broth, and tender short ribs. The galbi was nicely charcoaled and very tasty, although a bit difficult to chew from the tendons. They did have a lot of sides which I appreciated. The workers were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had comfy, mom and pop vibes. The tofu and galbi combo was quite pricey at about $30 and the galbi tang was about $18 but they do have lunch specials, which is cheaper.
