I just got my car smogged this afternoon. $79 smog isn't considered a bargain, however, it's worth the peace of mind to know the test will be done quickly and efficiently. Not to mention this location has a very relaxing waiting area, and in the over 100 degree heat, an air conditioned waiting room is awesome. I really appreciate the customer care. It means a lot. I didn't have high expectations for a business transaction related to getting my car smog checked, but Simply Smog was a really great experience, so I wanted to let other people know what I enjoyed about it. I'll be honest up front, I didn't price compare Simply Smog with other smog test places around where I live, but I was okay with what I paid compared to the level of service. The owner couldn't have been nicer and more hospitable. He offered a nice place to sit and wait, had music playing (Amy Winehouse no less) and had a fridge stocked with cold drinks and ice cream. I like to see local businesses differentiate themselves based on value added services / features, so if you're a person that supports a person that obviously cares about their business, you should definitely check out Simply Smog. I'll admit that I was really procrastinating about getting my smog check done this year. Thank you, fellow Yelpers, for pointing this place out. My general experience with OTHER smog places has been that you take your car in, and they find all sorts of imaginary things wrong with your engine (that will cost $200 - or more - to repair) and then, after you spend all that money, they just turn down your car's idle speed enough so you pass the test, and send you on your way, $200 (or more) lighter in your wallet and with a car that wants to stall out because the idle is turned down so low. Literally, the last time I had my smog check done, I did it ONE DAY after I had my (newer model) car tuned up at my dealership, just to see if they would come up with b.s. reasons why I needed to replace "x", "y" and "z" . . . and I was not disappointed. Such crooks! Simply Smog, however, is not like those OTHER smog ripoff joints. I was in and out in probably less than 10 minutes, polite and friendly service, no additional things "wrong" with my car, my idle speed not tampered with, a kind offer of some pizza while I was there, and nothing but courteous service. To anyway who balks at paying the $79, I ask you: Isn't it better to pay a little more HERE and not have to deal with shenanigans? read more

I saw this place while driving by to do errands. The sign that said free re-tests made it worth my while to check it out since I wasn't sure if my old 1995 Toyota Previa would pass. I went in and the price was about $75, which is more than some places but I believe because my vehicle is older they need to do more checks. While waiting I got to relax in a nice massage chair that was heated which was quite nice since it was a cold day. They had a movie playing on a big screen TV and fresh coffee on which was better than I expected. They also had juice, pop, chips and fruit as well as an inside area and a nice bathroom. What more could you ask for during such a tedious chore. I would go back and highly recommend it to my friends. PS Vehicle passed no problem. read more

Hate the smog issue, and cost and drill of it all, but these guys make it bearable. Massage chair, air hockey, refer full of drinks and ice cream, and an owner who gets you in and out in a jiffy! This place gets a "1" because the guy behind the counter is super nice. Other than that do not come here - especially at the time they open. I got here at 8 am and I had to wait for the tech to get in. The dude is still not here and it is 8:30. This is my 7th and last visit to this place! Too bad! Nothing like giving some absent business owner $90 to sit around and read Cosmo and Men's Health. A complete f-ing waste of time. If I ran this place the tech dude would be looking for unemployment! First thing is to rip off customers.Jerk low skill tool pulls car in runs tests that it passes no problem.Charges my card THEN says no pass because of air filter change.He could have checked with a 5 second visual as their book says to do and told me it won't pass with that on there.Nope. My father and I came in here for a smog check since it was right by aaa. The waiting room is fun! It felt like a man cave. They have a wellstock fridge with sodas, juices, ice cream, and fruit. There's an air hockey table, scale to weigh yourself, a bike, massage chair, tv, etc. Nice workers and we were in and out in 15 minutes. See my pictures. read more

My smog place is awesome! They have a surround sound system. A heated seat for the ladies room. Endless snack and beverage bar. And if you are bored a massage chair, karaoke, and a keyboard. More expensive than I've paid in the past BUT I was in and out in under 20 minutes and I was able to enjoy a massage chair and my choice of cold beverage. I like that they have a live camera so you can check on wait times. The clerk, smog check guy and a man that's likely the owner were all incredibly pleasant and made the experience quick and easy. The Best Shop in the Valley!!! We were driving from Palm Springs to Santa Barbara and stopped at Simply Smoke. Were greeted and welcomed with a friendly owner and the stuff. It's a cool place to get your smog done quick and the drinks are free etc but the "estimated " bill is always under what you pay. Everyone who came in was questioning the bill seems I wasn't the only one who got an estimate and then got hit for more money at the time of payment. read more

Awesome waiting area filled with cool stuff (like arcade games, an air hokey table, an electric piano, leather lounge chairs, a TV, etc) to entertain you during the (very brief) wait. Great ambiance; friendly atmosphere. If you hate spending your day off getting smog checked (like me) these guys are a godsend. In and out in minutes, though the waiting room is so awesome you'd almost wish they'd take longer so you can enjoy all the cool stuff to wait with. If I had to nitpick the price of the smog check is a little on the high end, but that makes sense since they ONLY do smog checks (unlike auto repair shops that can get extra income from other services, this is their bread and butter), and the fantastic speed and customer service makes up for it. Best smog shop I have EVER been to! I went on a Saturday in the middle of the afternoon. The owner estimated a 20 min. wait time, my car was ready in 15 min. Service is extremely fast. Now for the wait area... The wait area is packed with plenty of entertainment. It made my 15min. feel like 5min.! There is an air hockey table, an arcade, an exercise bike(I know), cold soft drinks for free, and a big screen tv with surround sound! Some of the best customer service I have experienced! I needed a smog place. Went to what I think was the Midas station up the street from Simply Smog. They were terrible. I left and found Simply Smog by accident. I couldn't believe the place. The owner did everything but cook dinner and wash my car for me. Could not have been nicer. Even told me to make sure I had a check or cash with me when I told him I was headed to AAA to pay the registration on my car since AAA doesn't take credit cards for renewals. Amazing. Try to get a smoke test today, they try to charge me $85, that is non sense price. So I left and check other store. There is one store call "G & A test only" (you could check in Yelp, that how I find it) on lindley. I got my smoke test done in 15 min and no wait, and with $40only. So I pull into Simply Smog (can you guess which AAA I was going to?), and right away I am greeted by a lovely gentleman with an accent. In order of fun things to do on my day off, smog check ( oddly ) does not make the list...until now. The owner has managed to make government mandates fun! The cost is competitive-79.00 and you can re-test for free if you fail. The average wait time seemed to be 15min! The wait area might be the cutest ( and smartest ) idea I've seen. Pay attention Jiffy Lube, Oil express and all those other drill places to service your car! A section of the garage was cornered off and decorated like your cool, Brit uncle's ADD playland. There is a fully stocked fridge with juices, sodas, teas, coffee creamers AND ice creams! There is a great tea and coffee station, too. There is an exercise bike, air hockey table, flat screen with the game on, test your eyes with an eye chart while you relax on the massage chair. The guy knows how to take care of his customers. He's so amicable that I bet he can tell someone they failed & still make a friend. read more

( $89 compared to $40) I'm more mad at myself for not researching it prior to going in. It's Sunday I needed to get my smog check done so that DMV can send me those tags, luckily, Simply Smog is open Sundays until 5pm. I call in and was told to come on down. I'm extremely glad I chose this place. The owner and attendants were nice and welcoming and I got great service from beginning to end. 15 minutes and the smog check was done, they have such an awesome set-up that I wouldn't have minded to wait longer. They have cable TV, ice hockey machine, a karaoke machine, stationary bike, massage chair, a seperate a/c room, a kitchenette, fruit basket, and fresh coffee. What more can you ask for.
