Just got pick up from here and it was so yummy! We both got fish tacos with rice and beans. We also got chips and guac. I can honestly say it was some of the best Mexican food I've had in this area and I've lived here for 13 years. We're lucky to live right in Lakelands, so we're going to be eating here a lot! We're so happy to have this addition to the neighborhood. Updated: Unfortunately I have to update this to 4 star review. We called at 8:30 tonight to see if we could put a takeout order in. The woman answered in a rude tone and told us they are closed! The hours clearly say 11am-9pm. You need to have consistent hours and not be rude when someone is clearly calling within business hours. Sin and Grin is a great choice for vegans. Three days a week Julie makes vegan soups including a Bean Soup on Fridays that is fabulous. The Inspiration Tacos are very good as are the beans, rice and guac. The people are so friendly too. Finish your meal with Julie's Blueberry or Apple Pie. My first time at Sin & Grin and it was delicious! Portions are great and the food is fantastic. I ordered a bowl with steak. The steak was super flavorful and not dry. You can add any toppings you'd like to your bowl, similar to Chipotle. I love the fries! They're thin and crispy and go good with cheese. The South of the Border tacos were good, and the tacos are PACKED with the meat. My fiancé ordered the beef and lamb platter, i didn't realize it would be a gyro! Came for take out dinner and got 3 quarter chicken with sides of rice, yuca and fries. Sadly, none of us were wowed by the food, which was pricey for bland food. Chicken was pretty tasteless and that's the star of the show. Also, unsure if anyone is familiar with Picca, they have rotisserie chicken that is the best and it comes with 3 sauce choices. Originally, my boyfriend and I were coming here for the tacos, but we ended up not because of the prices. If you compare their prices with Ixtapalapa Taqueria's prices, I would definitely say Ixtapalapa Taqueria's prices are a lot cheaper (~$2 per taco) and they offer more options, and you can pick and choose which tacos you like, and their quality is awesome. So I didn't feel the bother to spend $8-12 for only two tacos with one side choice, and those two tacos have to be the same. I was also pretty surprised that this place is rated a 4.5/5. My boyfriend got spit fire lamb and beef, which comes with fries and a salad, and I got a salmon bowl. My boyfriend's spit fire lamb and beef was decent. We thought the ingredients were fresh, and in a way, it kinda reminded me of a gyro, but all in all, the flavor wasn't anything special and it didn't blow us away, especially paying $16 for it. The fries and salad were okay too, but out of his entire meal, the lamb and beef were the tastiest, but again, was decently good, not mind blowing good. My salmon bowl reminded me of a chipotle bowl except I like the chipotle rice better. Chipotle doesn't have salmon though, and I did think the salmon itself was pretty good, but I can get a chipotle bowl with guacamole for just a bit under $10, and the salmon bowl here is $12. All in all, I will say I think the atmosphere of the place was cozy and cute, and it's a cute place to dine at with a friend or significant other, but I honestly thought the food was pretty average and the prices were a little pricier than the average. read more

Go here now! This place was fantastic! Before I say anything else, I want to mention the fact that they have electrical plates in the restaurant that have USB ports. It's great to be able to sit down to eat and charge your phone at the same time. The chips and queso were so good, and it had just the right amount of spice to it. I ordered the peppered steak tacos with a salad and French fries. I have never eaten fries with tacos so I had to try it. The salad is served with olives and balsamic vinigarette. The tacos came out on a metal taco stand which stood atop a plate full of fries. The tacos weren't like anything I have ever tasted before. The tacos had an almost Mediterranean feel to them. Finally got around to trying this place out, and am glad I did. As always I was accompanied by DH who is always happy to sample - especially if it's a decent taco. Plenty of parking available in the area with just a short walk (if there are no street parking spaces available). It was a little confusing when we first went in. There is an area with menus that looks as if you are supposed to wait for someone to seat you, but if you look towards the back of the restaurant you will see a sign that indicates "order here" so go ahead and make your way to the back. I'm a sucker for fish tacos so there was no doubt what I was ordering, "Aha Baja". I love that you get a choice of sides, and a choice of flour or corn tortilla. DH ordered the "Steak Attack". We ordered different sides so that we could taste as much as possible in one sitting. My side salad was extremely fresh, tasty and plentiful. The beans and rice were, well beans and rice. Fresh but nothing really to rave about. My fish taco was really very good. I wasn't sure about how I would feel about charred corn pico but it actually went very well with the other ingredients and the jalapeno lime sauce pulled everything together nicely. I also feel that I could taste some cotija cheese on there, although it wasn't listed as an ingredient on the menu. DH loved his steak taco and there was plenty of meat to satisfy. Everything tasted ultra fresh and clean, not greasy at all. Place was spotless and I like the fact that it is an open kitchen so you can see how they handle food and the cleanliness of the kitchen when you order. Everyone was friendly and appeared happy to explain anything to obviously new customers. As we sat eating pretty much everyone that came in after us appeared to be regulars from local businesses and houses and I can see why - I would be a regular too if I worked closer. Came to this place a couple days ago, with my wife. Not knowing the menus and the process, the owner took his time to go over the specials and what he had suggested. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. I totally recommend the steak tacos, and the chicken tacos. The chicken tacos had a Greek twist to it, which blew my mind. I met with my cousin for a business meeting at this spot a few days ago, and boy was it a great choice! I loved the food! The guacamole and chips tasted fresh, and we all know how hard it can be for a restaurant to get that right! I had the chicken burrito and it was huge, and the shoestring French fries were hot and fresh too! It was tasty and very filling. I literally was full for the rest of the day! My cousin had the shrimp salad and she said that it was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and although it busy (not super annoyingly busy) for the lunch crowd, it became very pleasant around 1:30 PM. Also, the staff was fast and very efficient with the ordering process, and getting the food out in a timely manner. We were able to sit, eat, and discuss without any interruption, and that was nice. The ladies bathroom was nice and tidy, and the honeysuckle hand soap was delightful. I sometimes think of the cleanliness of the bathroom at an establishment as an indicator for how they care for my food, and this place get high marks in my book. The only drawback back, which is not on them, it's the strip where it's located, it's super congested in that area. So even though I was able to find parking because it was a weekday, I have to imagine it's incredibly difficult for those that live in the area to find parking, on say, a Saturday. It's also a residential area, so it's very busy. It's definitely a great place to sit outside and have lunch and chat. The "patio" was nice, and although we ate inside that particular day, I would definitely come back and sit outside. read more

They initially brought out the wrong order for me (probably through my own fault of being unclear during the ordering process) but quickly replaced my dish with the correct one without any fuss and gave me cash for the price difference. The owner took our order and offered suggestions when asked as it was our first visit. She even gave us a free drink since it was our first time. The food was outstanding. The quantities were plentiful and the service was excellent. I was visiting family and they suggested Sin & Grin for lunch. I had the carnitas burrito. It was huge! The meat was flavorful. All of the ingredients tasted fresh. The others in my party all had the 1/4 chicken plate (some had white meat, some dark). They all commented that their meal was excellent as well. We dined on the patio, which was very nice. The servers, I would assume they are the owners (man and woman in their 40's) went overboard to make sure that we were happy. The food arrived about 10 minutes after ordering, it was freshly made. It looked great. Proper tacos, two tortillas per taco. Filled the brim. The steak and vegetables were great. I really like the rice and the beans were very good. A very nice meal. I think its time to stop the friends and family reviews for this place. I was shocked how a 4.5 star rated place can be this bad. The menu states spit fired meats everywhere, like you'd expect in a rotisserie place, or a churrascaria, right? Think again. When I got here I saw that the spit was completely empty...like no meat spinning or roasting there. When I asked to see and taste the lamb before ordering, the man reached out into a drawer and pulled out a portioned size ziplock and took some meat out of it and put it on a pan. I tasted it, it didnt taste fresh and even the seasoning was not very good. So I ordered steak tacos and my friend ordered the Shrimp Salad Food comes in, my steak tacos are very average and nothing I'd expect from a 4.5 star place. The meat, like the lamb I sampled was also pulled from the same storage drawer so assuming it was also saved in a ziplock. My friend got 4 pieces of shrimp on his salad, yes 4! And these were what I'd classify as medium sized at best. The rest of the plate was full of lettuce. The same man (he may be the owner or manager) came around to us after making the rounds with some friends, and asked how things were. I said "just ok", and he said "good" because he wasn't really listening. My friend said he only got 4 shrimp on his salad to which the guy responded "you know shrimp is expensive, right?". What?? This was a $14 salad, and you tell him shrimp is expensive? Has this guy run a restaurant before? Even when asking for an extra salsa (like a tiny serving of it), I received a bad look. There was hardly anyone there at lunch (except couple of people this guy knew very well), and judging by the fact that they store their half cooked meat (not on a spit), I'm assuming there isn't much traffic here. Then there are a million better rotesserie places like Sardis, Crisp and Juicy, and amazing taco places like taco Bar, Ixtapa, and Tortacos. So how does this place get amazing reviews?!?! There something wrong here folks. Move on, dont believe these reviews, save your taste buds and your time, there's a lot better food out there. read more
