We stopped in to pick up some deserts - they had a good variety and we stuck with a staple - chocolate chip cookie - which was PERFECT - it was soft and crunchy if that can be, all at the same time, makes me wish I had purchased MANY more. We also picked up 3 biscuits for our pups, I think they were peanut butter and they smelled amazing! Our pups loved them! We lastly picked up some type of coffee/chocolate tart with a chocolate dusting in the shape of Rhode Island on top - this was SO delicious. A wonderful new addition to the neighbourhood for us West Enders who have a sweet tooth. The Champagne Strawberry cupcake are delectable and have just the right ratio of moistness to sweetness. Their cookies change often but they are consistently good. They offer our four-legged friends some reasonably priced treats as well. Though I cannot speak to their taste, my little guy seems to enjoy it quite a lot. Speaking of the price, it's all relatively well-priced for the desserts around the West End. They offer gluten free and vegan options as well as savoury options so everyone can try Sin's marvels of sweetness. Don't miss the pecan pie or their coffees and teas. I order the strawberry buttercream and champagne cake for my partners 30th birthday. The cake was delicious! It even held in my car over night as to not ruin the surprise. I bought two cakes here and a few small treats. The first cake I purchased was a strawberry champagne cake with buttercream frosting, $28. The cake was dry, the crumb was very fine and dry. The buttercream was good but not enough. The frosting was barely more than the crumb coat of frosting, needs another layer. And the strawberry flavor just wasn't apparent. The second cake I bought was their carrot cake, $30. The cake was on the border of being dry. The crumb was nice, slightly moist and not so crumbly. There was creamcheese frosting between the layers, tasty. But they only used a thing veil of buttercream frosting on the outside, in my humble opinion, bad idea. I think they should have used creamcheese frosting on the entire cake. In between the cake purchases, I bought some treats, whoopi pie, which was dry and saved only from the filling. I purchased a poptart, it was pretty good. And I bought a brownie, the brownie was good but I like to try things that I can't make better. read more

Tasty. We spent our afternoon visit trying different cupcakes and also had some savory baked goods as well. I especially like the Funfetti cake, it's thicker than you would expect but the flavor was amazing. Sin has come through in a pinch a couple of times in the COVID pandemic. Once, with their assistance in making a small custom wedding cake with only a week's notice for a friend and another in having a wide selection of ready-to-go cupcakes available for a birthday. The only qualm I have is that their by-the-slice portion can be a little small because the food is so good you almost always wish there was more. Watch out summer diet because this little slice of heaven just opened up in my back yard practically! Really cool set up inside with room to meet someone for coffee or do some work. This is a review for the cafe itself. Non functional wifi and unsatisfactory pastries. Both the scone and cinnamon bun tasted too heavy and borderline baked. Heavy in a bad way. Neither the scatter of sweet blueberry jam in the scone nor the frosty glaze on the bun covered up the shameful texture of both pastries. In fact they both kind of tasted the same, which should not be normal. My roommate could bake a better cinnamon bun! Too expensive for low quality baked goods! The space itself was well lit and airy with a nice indoor room temperature. Too bad not worth staying. Either stick to cakes or improve the cafe aspect. Way too crowded at 7stars and north bakery is too small to get any work done. West end needs more cafes. Second time visiting this place on the same weekend and the gluten free carrot and mango cupcake is to blame! The frosting is decadent without that pure sugar and butter taste. The cake portion is moist with real chunks of carrot and mango. We also tried the flourless ricotta hazelnut and chocolate cake which was good but again the prize goes to the carrot and mango cupcake. They have a wide variety of gluten free options which is great for me. The staff is very helpful and friendly. As an added bonus they serve alcoholic beverages which I haven't tried there yet but may have to next time with another round of that carrot and mango cupcake haha. read more

I ordered my daughters 10th birthday cake here this weekend. It was a unicorn cake. The cake was so adorable and almost identical to the picture. It tasted great and feed everyone. The only complaint I have is they used marker to write her name which I find tacky and didn't think to be specific in my instructions to use icing, it's sort of a no brainer for such a nice bakery. My boyfriend being a guy didn't know any better to say hmmm that probably should be in icing. So needless to say when the cake showed up with her name written in marker I was a little thrown off. Okay this family needed to find Sin! We were lucky to have my hubby discover them for my birthday cake. It was the best coconut cake I've ever had, hands down and I know coconut cakes. Afterwards he spills the beans and tells me all about Sin!! I jump on their website and to check them out, in need of another birthday cake for a large party and I need it to be vegan. I scope out the champagne cake and oh la la it sounds divine! I call about mid morning and leave a message for a call back. I'm concerned I won't have enough time because the party is only a week away so I call again early afternoon and I am helped right away. Looking for a wedding cake in Providence? I wasn't but I got one! I had given up on even having a cake after speaking with several bakeries. My plan was to just buy several cakes from a preferred bakery that doesn't do wedding cakes....As luck would have it, my daughter mentioned that Sin has coconut cake to die for. Within 5 minutes, online, I ordered my cake. They were very fast in responding, I'm getting my dream cake at a very reasonable price (I love cake but not at $10.00 and up per slice as was quoted by other cake providers), reasonable delivery fee to the wedding venue of $25! I did not need want an elaborate cake, just a simple three tiered coconut cake. Sin not only agreed to do it quickly, but didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want or need. I ordered a vegan cake and cupcakes for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding. It was THE best cake and cup cakes I've ever had. The guests and bride and groom loved them! The cake was chocolate with vanilla frosting. The cupcakes were vanilla stuffed with strawberry jam, carrot cake, and chocolate oreo. The cake was moist, fresh, and the flavors popped! What a lovely local coffeeshop!! I had no idea it existed until I got a nift gift, and I'm so glad I did! Now I go there quite a bit. It has a great ambience, nice lighting for meeting with friends or getting work done (until they put on mood lighting for dinner), had free wifi, and sometimes has free samples! They have different flavors of coffee if you want to add that- the lavender is really good but also super sweet (I usually drink my coffee black though). They also have great pastries! Their tea is a bit pricey ($3 for a cup of tea?!), so I would probably give 4.5 stars because of that but I also know that local coffee shops need to generate revenue. Sin Desserts fills a needed void in this particular part of the west side neighborhood - a stylish cafe that offers desserts and drinks LATE (key word) to hang out with friends. Love that I no longer have to make the schlep to federal hill or downtown. That said, there are some pros and cons. Like I mentioned, it's in a great location that doesn't get too crowded and plenty of street parking. The menu has a lot of variety of desserts and baked goods for various tastes - cakes, mufins, cookies, more indulgent items like cheesecakes and tiramisu. The drinks are GOOD - nice and strong with good quality alcohol. They do not skimp here. Appreciate that the prices are decent. Their desserts are good, but not great. For instance, the tiramisu wasn't traditional - it tasted more like a tiramisu candy bar, where it was covered in chocolate ganache and had a dense-ish filling. While I do appreciate new spins on desserts and it wasn't bad, it wasn't what I expecting. Our pecan pie was also alright, a little forgettable. The coffee should be better (there are no excuses for so-so coffee in Providence). All that said, we will come back again to try more things - it really is a great hangout spot! read more

I had my gender reveal cake done by Sin! They had the best pricing for what I wanted and were very accommodating to my needs. I brought them the sealed envelope with the gender and picked two inside flavors/colors to go along with the gender. The cake came out PERFECT! Just what I wanted! And inside we found out we were having a girl as we sliced into the strawberry champagne inside...did I mention the cake was delicious?! Very moist and they have unique flavor options. The SIN sign caught my eye as we drove by and after doing a quick search, I was delighted to find that they create sweet treats for those with sensitive systems, so, in we went. The inside looks pretty damn stylish. White, red with highlights of black and some brick along with the wide open space, they have created a pretty chill atmosphere. I loved the large windows and style-wise, I appreciated their high ceilings. That being said, there didn't appear there be any soft furniture/rugs to diffuse noise, so I had to keep my noise canceling headphones on because it quickly became loud in there once a couple other customers entered. But most people don't have noise sensitivity, so I think a lot of folks would be very happy to grab a coffee and treat and settle in to work, read and/or enjoy the neighborhood bustle from inside. They offer a pretty full alcohol bar in addition to their Chai's, Nitro coffee and sweets, so there really is something for everyone here. There were a lot of treats to choose from, but I eventually narrowed it down to a gluten free brownie, nitro coffee with almond milk while my partner got an old fashioned cinnamon bun. We were both very, very happy with our choices, they do a damn good job baking. Full flavor, rich, the correct density, nothing was dry, and the flavors that hit your taste buds were better than expected! So, A+ for their baking skills and their nitro coffee was creamy, full and joyful to my taste buds. The service though. I tried to give a compliment to a woman with short hair, (I think she was the owner?), but she was cold, distant and didn't seem like she wanted to interact with any of us-she had the air like we were bothering her. A younger woman working the counter was trying to serve the customers with kindness, and she did a good job stepping in, but .. the older woman...she left us with a bad impression. I was hoping that maybe it was just a bad day, but it seems there were similar interactions with her, so sadly, I think this is her current baseline. SIN is certainly are good at their craft and I'm happy to see another independent shop own space. But, finding gluten free and/or vegan treats isn't as difficult as it used be in Providence, so we have options now. We're going to go back, their coffee and pastries were that good, but we will be looking to see who is working the counter. If it is the older woman who served us, we'd probably consider changing course to go elsewhere. Now, I like screamo, emo, and pop punk just fine, but playing it at a coffee shop is stupid and tone deaf and makes it an awful place to spend time. No one wants to hear very specific whiney/abrasive music when drinking coffee and talking to their friends, or working. Management has to do some quality control on their employees with these tunes--tone it down and think about what actual creates a nice atmosphere--not what your 22-year-old dork barista feels like hearing on that particular day. read more

However I emailed a few days before my wedding date requesting signs for the different cupcake flavors. I was assured there would be signs but when my husband and I did our first look we noticed no signs. Stoped by with my sister for some after dinner dessert and drinks - We we're celebrating her birthday. The place was great and really laid back. They were playing music from the 90's-2000's, it had the majority of us singing along - the drinks helped with that. The deserts were Sinfully delicious. I love the fact they recommend drinks to be paired with each desert. I ordered Lust (Espresso cake)and it was severed with a Japanese coffey negroni (Japanese whisky, creme de cocoa, espresso infused dry vermouth) - the perfect pair. The drink really helped to cut though the sweetness of the cake. I also tired a cookie (cowboy cookie I think) - holy s**t I almost bought the entire cookie jar. We both absolutely loved this place.
