Was curious to try this cafe. Ordered vegetarian spring roll and pho with chicken. Comparing it to other pho's in town, it fell very flat. The chicken and broth were tasteless. My guest ate some and I only had a couple of spoonfuls. What made it worse was that the waitress didn't ask what might be wrong with the food or if we needed it to go seeing that the bowls were still full when I asked for the check. I've loved Singapore Cafe for years now. My go-to order is spring rolls and pad thai. Their spring roll sauce isn't the traditional peanut sauce that's thick. It's hard to find good Asian food in El Paso, but it's about as good as Thai food you're going to get around here. We shared the Pad Thai and Thaiyaki Bowl, which was a good mixture of meats and veggies. DH really liked the spring rolls, but not my thing. The cheese and spinach egg roll things are really good but greasy. You also bring your own wine or beer, but bring a corkscrew and your own wine glasses unless you want to use their plastic ones. Atmosphere okay but nothing great. The food is reasonably priced. After our second trip there I ended up getting sick (can't be sure if it was their food or not), so we never went back. read more

We used to eat here often, tried them again after being out of town for 10+ years. Will never go back, terrible food. Seafood salad, small watery shrimp, artificial crab and a lot of lettuce, no sauce of any kind. The soup that came with the lunch actually tasted like dirty water. How did this restaurant receive so many good ratings? I thought it was interesting to find a Singapore restaurant in the El Paso area so naturally I wanted to give it a go. Upon entering, we immediately noticed how outdated and drab looking the restaurant looked. It had 80s Hawaiian style decorations with lots of fake plants around. It was dark. Even when it was bright outside and the shades were open, the interior was just depressing. All the chairs were old, ripped, stained and some even missing the padding in the seat. I need to stress that this restaurant is utterly confusing. So much so that they have little to no identity. You can't call yourself a Singapore restaurant when you serve Indonesian, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai. You are biting off more than you can chew and a menu that complicated will reflect in the food you serve to your customers. And trust me, your customers will pick up on that instantly. We ordered pad Thai, spicy curry noodles, kids bulgogi and Thai tea. The Thai tea was just regular brewed tea with vanilla and milk added. It is not authentic Thai tea. And for the price, you bet I sent that sucker back. The pad Thai we ordered was suppose to have chicken, tofu and shrimp. Our order came out with absolutely no tofu, a few chunks of barely there chicken and a ton of frozen-not cooked all the way shrimp. The flavor was there, but the quality was very poor. The noodles was cooked to death, mushy and smothered in sauce. There was barely any veggies in it. Curry noodles was not very spicy, my husband complained that it was bland and tasted like it came out of a ramen package and they added fresh veggies. The kids bulgogi was decent. It was a lot of food for a kid and the beef was flavorful. The mandu soup was just okay. The wonton was chewy and thick. We've had authentic Korean mandu soup when we lived in Korea and this was not the same. We won't be returning. Cut your menu down by 50% and pick one country of food to cook, and perfect that. Every Saturday I would get the pad thai for takeout and some lumpia or spring rolls. Sooo good! The lunch portion was even better because the soup very tasty. My husband enjoyed the kao pad. Visiting from South Texas and we were looking for good pad Thai. This was recommended. We were pleased. It was just how we like it. The lumpia was also very good. However, Service was quite poor. Utensils were hard to come by. When we asked for knives. We got one for 5 people. We asked for more and got one more. I believe the young man needs lessons in waitering. I had their take-out. This is by far the worst Thai food I have ever had. The "Green" Chicken Curry was not authentic at all. It tasted like canned Chinese food - La Choy whatever - but definitely not green curry. Even the color was off - yellow. And not a speck of thai basil. Yuk. The spring rolls were disgusting - nearly all noodles, tons of it, but only 2 tiny shrimp and nearly no greens. One of them didn't have shrimp but imitation crab instead!! They didn't even provide the peanut sauce so that I could try to make up for the lack of flavor to this disgusting mess. Yuk, yuk, yuk!!! The other reviews that speak so highly of this place are suspect - one even admits to being a "former" employee. In fact, even the name is not authentic Thailand. The place is cute, with very picturesque Asian parasols hanging from the ceiling. The service was good and our waitress was fast. But the food was just OK. I ordered the calamari, my girlfriend ordered a vegetarian dish. They both looked great but fell short on the flavor. The sauce on my calamari was some sort of red sweet and sour that was labeled in the menu as 'spicy'. Sadly, it wasn't really sweet, nor sour and definitely not spicy. The dish lacked a strong flavor. We also found the same lack of flavor problem with the veggie springrolls, they were filled mostly with flavorless noodles, a few slivers of carrot and lettuce. Completely baffled at the great reviews this place has gotten. I ordered a veggie pad Thai for take out and all I got was oily noodles, fried tofu, sprinkles of green onions and bean sprouts with absolutely no sauce or spice of any kind. I am in El Paso for a temporary work assignment and find myself going out for dinner a lot. Having never been to El Paso, I wasn't sure what the restaurant scene was like. To be fair, I was not expecting to find good Thai food in El Paso. Singapore Cafe did not let me down... it was NOT good Thai food. Perhaps seeing the variety of Asian cuisines on their menu should have been a warning. But I had a taste for Thai, so what to order? I figured I'd order two staples... Tom Kha Gai soup and Pad Thai. Let's start with the soup. What's with Tom Kha Gai without coconut milk? The menu SAID it had coconut milk in it...but the soup was a virtually clear broth. Maybe the chef got confused? Then came the Pad Thai. On the plus side, it had a nice mix of chicken, tofu and shrimp. That's where it ends, though. It had NO flavor whatsoever. Cooked noodles, sprouts, onions, the aforementioned protein, and some crushed peanuts... but no flavor. I had to ask for a bottle of Sriracha hot sauce, which I used generously, just to add some flavor to the Pad Thai. (I should mention that when asked, I always choose mild or medium hotness at Thai restaurants). I may return to Singapore Cafe again, but will stick with Chinese dishes with the hope that they would do better... although I've found a couple of acceptable Chinese restaurants, so why try? read more

pretty picky about thai food since i'm from nyc...tried tara thai which was horrible! got take out from singapore cafe last night and we liked it. the lumpia app. was nothing special, and the pad thai was a little boring, but ok. but the ayam padas was rather tasty, and the curry noodles were really good (i asked for them extra hot as i had read reviews that the food at Singapore was not usually spicy). most of all, we really REALLY enjoyed the javanese satay (the chiken was delicisous and the sauce was very yummy - although i would ask for more sauce next time). As a native Singaporean, I am truly disappointed in the food. We ordered 3 supposedly Singaporean dishes and were thoroughly disappointed. The noodles tasted like candied noodles- way too sweet for my taste when it is supposed to be spicy and savory. The chicken dish my husband ordered had raw eggplant in it. When we brought the issue up to our server, she took the dish back and had the chef cook ONLY the eggplant. The end result was chunks of eggplant burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. We also ordered a fish dish which costs $15 but had 2 miserable pieces of fish in it. We are sorely disappointed in our food and will NOT be returning. The name of this restaurant should not have been Singapore Cafe, but rather, Lousy Food Cafe. read more
