Although the food is good, the service is terrible. Each time I've gone, I've had a problem with the waiters being inattentive.

YUM! This place was great. I came here for my bachelorette party dinner with four of my friends and we had a great time. It's a little pricier than your average Mexican food, but we came here because it's kind of high-end, and we wanted good Mexican food, but with an upscale restaurant vibe for the party. I heard about the place from my sister's co-workers who come here all the time, and raved about it. I had fish tacos, lobster quesadillas, margaritas and guacamole and everything was delicious. We had a reservation last night at 7:30 for six people to celebrate a birthday. As we all checked in, we were sent to the bar to wait for our table. The last of our party arrived at 7:30, so we checked in with the hostess, who said they'd come get us when our table was ready. We checked back in with her four more times, and were told that there were two large parties that had already paid, and they had to wait for them to leave. By 8:10, we were getting antsy. I told them we were going to have to go somewhere else, but the manager assured me that it would be just another 5 or 10 minutes until they were able to clear the tables. Meanwhile, the occupants of said tables showed no interest in leaving. We were told we could have appetizers at the bar while we waited - a totally unappealing thought, as only two of us were seated. The rest were left standing and watching the hostess to see any signs of life. We left.... within 10 minutes we were happily seated at a large corner table at El Rio Grande, with chips, salsa, and water on the table, and drinks on the way. We had a wonderful dinner - the drinks were great, the guacamole delicious (and huge), and everyone enjoyed the food. The experience at Sinigual was awful - a birthday could have been ruined, and the management didn't appear to care at all. The one star is for the watery margaritas we had at the bar - when a Mexican restaurant can't do a decent margarita, there's a problem. Don't bother. read more

This place is convenient because it's near my job. It does get pretty busy but the drinks make it worth the wait. I do recommend you make reservations or call in advance to see how long the wait will be. Their guac is so tasty and like many Mexican restaurants they make it on the spot. I celebrated my 30th birthday there and it was a great choice of the place! I picked it last minute and was a little bit nervous, but me and my friends had a great time at Sinigual. We were at the lounge area near the bar, the music and the atmosphere were perfect for a large group of people to spend time with each other. Our waitres - I think her name was Sarah but not sure - was beyond amazing! As a former waitres myself, I know how busy it was for her that Friday night. She did absolutely amazing job taking care of everybody and we felt no rush or pressure from her whatsoever. I would recommend the place to others. read more

Have been here about 5 times now over 2 months for dinner and one or twice for happy hour. Food is okay but not well seasoned enough, nothing is very flavoursome or stands out. Drinks are hideously overpriced unless you go during happy hours at $15-19 for a margarita. Also for this price they are not strong enough. I've had good service until the last time I was there, it wasn't bad but the waiter was snooty and seriously lacked a smile. Also tried to rush is in ordering. This place is ok, I've given it a fair go but for these prices I will seek a better haunt. read more

I just had a very disappointing experience here. I've been going to this restaurant for over five years now, and actually think I gave them a 5 star review on Yelp a while back. Fast forward a few years, and a few children later, and this place has truly saddened me. Twice now, a waitress who works on Thursdays in the lower/cafe area of the restaurant during lunchtime has been very nasty to us. A few weeks ago, she made a comment in Spanish to one of her coworkers about us, which we heard. I guess we don't 'look' Spanish speaking, but we are. It's not a good idea to trash customers anyway, but particularly when they can hear and understand. Today, this same waitress, screamed at me when I was inquiring about getting a high chair for my baby. It was shocking, unprovoked, and unprofessional. Other staff also did a few eye rolls at us throughout lunch. It's difficult enough bringing children out to eat. Waitresses who make no effort to hide their disgust make it that much more difficult. This restaurant has kid menus, a changing table, and high chairs - comes across as a child friendly venue. Unfortunately, it does not have a staff that supports the infrastructure. We will not be coming back, nor will any of the other mommies in the neighborhood. read more

It took about 20 minutes for me (1 guest not a whole group) to even place my order and I had to wait 5-10min just to get a menu in the bar area! Delicious food, the only thing I didn't like, it was too noisy, music too loud, hardly have a chance to have a good conversation, you need to yell to the people who is sharing with you. So yummy! My boyfriend and I take the train down from Westchester just to come here on the weekends. It's a quick walk from Grand Central Station and a good break from the touristy spots. My boyfriend had their ribs with rice, beans and fried yucca. So delicious. I had the chicken enchiladas covered with this amazing sauce served with a side of rice and beans. Very consistent with great flavors. The guacamole cart is also a must! The restaurant is beautifully decorated with paintings and intricate light fixtures. read more

The chicken fajitas were not as great, but the sangria really made up for it. if you're a big fan of chips and salsa, this isn't the best place. I hosted an event here for about 20 high school students and 10 adults. The special events manager was a pleasure to work with ahead of time, and very helpful in planning a successful event that stayed within our budget. The staff on the night of the event were very attentive, and all of the guests were really happy with the food. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. The environment is so relaxing and just perfect for a family or a date. They have a wide variety of drinks to choose from even for the children and the menu has many options. One of my favorite parts of this restaurant is that you can see the chefs making your food and making The tortillas you get when you eat there. The staff are really nice and make you feel at home. Even though this is a huge restaurant you never feel crowded or claustrophobic. There is a bar if you are into that and there are other main seating areas for your enjoyment. We made reservations for a table of 16 well in advance and they were not ready for us. It took a full hour to receive our drinks. It took half hour just to place those drink orders. We received guac without chips. We had to ask the chef directly for those chips once we got them. The three orders of guac were all different amounts. They then apologized and said the drinks were on us but when the bill came it was on the bill. We then called them out on it and they said they never said that. They continued to insult and ignore us and ruin our friends birthday. Though out the entire night we noticed numerous other tables complaining as well. They clearly don't know how to handle their tables and all we did was ask for a second waitress to assist our only one read more

Again permiso mi francais but this guy was OTB (on the ball) and totally OoHM (out of his fuckin capeza!) he suggested many delicious things some of which we sampled. It was a very organic presentation, nothing felt forced or rushed. He was basically like, Just go with it! Which was also a movie we ended up seeing. I had the pumpkin chipotle wheat chicken, a special. My bf had the gluten free avocado blackberry tortilla umbrellito, made by special request and with great precision. I recommend the banana pepper jazz poppers or whatever they're called. Also they had some person who seemed unhappy make us gaucamolé. But if I was them maybe I wouldn't smile either so it's all good. The gauc was good but my bf was like ew gross. He's black and doesn't like trying new things. Left very disappointed. Unfortunately, the AC was not really working that night. We stayed anyway. I ordered a Tequlia Sunrise, but was told that they couldn't make it because they had no orange juice. Ok. My friend was disappointed because they didn't have any shredded beef choices in entrees. I was not overly impressed by my entree either. It was neither good nor bad. I wished they would have given some chips to start with, but I guess they'll too upscale for that. Overall, I was NOT impressed. I had much better Mexican food at lesser places in the City. I think they're trying to be too upscale. And I didn't even leave feeling full! MICE! I loved this place and was a regular...until I saw mice roaming about... The manager was not surprised, which led me to believe that this had happened before. She took off 25% of the bill and said she had called the exterminator. And now, checking out the reviews, I see that other people had similar experiences: roaches, a fingernail in the drink, etc I don't trust this place anymore and I would not recommend it. I went there for drinks one evening and it was packed. Good place. Food was good and service was pretty good. It wasn't that difficult to get a drink even though the bar was crowded. I met up with a friend I hadn't seem in a while, who brought her son with her. They had a kid menu. Yea!! But this is an adult/working people-oriented atmosphere, a good place for friends and/or coworkers to gather after work and linger over drinks, appys and good conversation. Although Mexican, wish they would expand their appetizer menu to include more offerings...maybe even rename it a "Tapas" menu. A little pricier than I expected, but worth it for a mid-town Manhattan restaurant. If it cost less, I would be suspect. Couldn't have any of the tropical drinks as I was on meds. I wanted to like this place. It looks good when you come in. Kind of stylish and well lit. NIce bar area, big table seating area in the back. Open kitchen, way in the back. Service was prompt and frindlly. We got 2 tacos carnitas, sopas, a couple of drinks and our bill was more than $80. The tacos were NOT GOOD. Tasted like pulled pork, not carnitas. This review is really to highlight one Server in particular, who was EXCELLENT. Her name is Jenna K. My wife, a friend, and I had the pleasure of being seated in her area. Jenna was very personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Her food recommendations were on point. My wife and I frequent Sinigual and usually tend to order the same meal without perusing the menu. However, on this particular night, because our server was so personable, we decided to hear her out as she spoke about the different entrees on the menu... And I'm happy we did. Jenna recommended some dishes, we wouldn't normally even give a second thought... and the items she suggested were all delicious.
