This place used to be the spot to be in CR on weekend nights...super welcoming vibe with friendly staff, awesome atmosphere, and overall great social/dance club. My first time here when any of the individual businesses were actually open. We came by on a Thursday night for the 'Taylor Swift birthday celebration'. They've got a new Ellie brown ale from Avery Brewery that was good. The bartender wasn't sure if it's rotating or will stick around for a while. Hopefully the latter. It was a bit too loud for me (ya, guess I'm old now), so we spent some time downstairs. The Romo's tacos looks good, as does the Arayes Lebanese restaurant. I'm guessing we'll be back at some point to grab some food at one of these places and take it upstairs for a beer, especially if there is some entertainment going on that interests us. read more

I'm a sucker for a good cocktail. After indulging in Restaurant Week at nearby Siena, my husband, and mother in law and I were down for a nightcap. She suggested Sinners and Saints, and off we went! SPACE: Located in the Ecclesia Market (Castle Rock's first food hall!), Sinners and Saints is a devilish addition to the top floor of the converted historic church. Just up the stairs from the rear entrance lies the coolest spot with killer drink specials! The large mural along the back wall creates the traditional church vibe, but the colored lights, modern stylish furniture and extensive bar jazz's up the joint and creates a much trendier and bar like environment. A DJ was jamming tunes the night we arrived, which was fun and the space allowed for dancing! The variety of seating (long community tables, two tops and more!) allows for parties of all sizes, including the bar top - as it is huge! Although I'm not the church going type, I found the space to be gorgeous and created a different and interesting atmosphere! SERVICE & SIPS: Although packed when we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly bartender who provided us with a rundown of the cocktail list - featuring the 10 Commandments - their creative approach to house made cocktails! I stuck to wine, while the hubs sipped on a smooth concoction with vodka. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful and nice - despite what others have said in their reviews. However, because the bartenders were so busy, we were charged twice for our cocktails, which we discovered the following day after looking at our bank account. The misunderstanding was easily corrected though, which made all the difference! SUSTENANCE: While a full food menu isn't offered here - head to another vendor in the food hall - they do offer a coffee and dessert bar, for a true nightcap to the evening. This was during happy hour. They have $8 Old Fashioneds. The server asked if we wanted to upgrade to another bourbon, sure - Angels Envy, happy to pay a modest uplift for our usual. Sounds good. What we each got was a very bland old fashioned - no flavor, no effort. So we decided to call it after one round and head over to Tribe where they can always make a good drink. To our shock it was $47 before tip for our two Angels Envy old fashioneds. Did we expect an uplift for Angels - of course, sure. But $15 more each, for a bad drink....?!? I am part of a book club that meets here at the Sudden Fiction book store in the same building, so I always make sure to stop by S&S for a nice cocktail and some dinner before hand! The bartenders are always so friendly and give great recommendations. The prices here are a little steep but the drinks are good! Secondly, it's weird that you assume the date I wrote my review is the day I was there. Actually I took some time to think about not saying anything but, again, the service was so bad I felt the need to say something to warn people. My guess is I'm not the only one who has had bad experiences with her. Lastly, your response, and lack of ability to actually just apologize and see how y'all could do better makes me think it's not a her problem (with an isolated employee) but rather it's a cultural issue. You will have a hard time choosing from the craft cocktail menu! We were served by Ben, who could not have provided better service from his banter and recommendations. He knows his cocktails! My friend is in a band with his two brothers and it was their 10 year anniversary of starting this past weekend. So as a last minute birthday present for their dad, they planned a show at this bar. It was our first time ever going and we were all pleasantly surprised. They used to play at Maddie's Biergarten very frequently, so this was super close by, and a nice alternative since that venue unfortunately closed. The environment was really cool, and they also have a really incredible mural that was the backdrop for them playing. In fairness the bartender gets 5 stars, greeted us with a friendly smile, remembered us from a prior visit and made a very good Old Fashion. Then why a 2 Star Rating you ask? One drink cost $14 and it was not a top shelf bourbon. I've paid that and more at Capital Grill, Ellways or Shanahans for Blantons or Wheller 12 Year but this is not that.
