SINY Dermatology - at entrance - in the basement - Dermatologists Near Me - New York, New York

My dermatologist just sold his practice to SINY. I was thinking that when he retires I would stay with whoever took over his practice (for convenience), however, I'm having second thoughts, since I just called the office to make an appointment. I am so used to a receptionist picking the phone up right away, instead, I was put on hold for 10 minutes and it sounded like somebody was picking the phone up a few times and then it would go back to the music and advertisement blah, blah, blah I don't think any New Yorker has time to spend 10 minutes on a phone listening to a dermatologist trying to sell products and services instead of someone actually picking up a phone and taking care of business effectively and efficiently and just booking the appointment Hopefully, they'll get their sh&$t together and provide better and more personable client services. read more

Stay away from this dermatology. They are irresponsible and misdiagnosed the rashes on my hand. After applying their prescription, it started to bleed and I called multiple times and even sent them messages to dispute the bill. They ignored and kept sending the invoice to me. read more

I'd give more stars if I could! The office is nestled on Perry street in the heart of the West Village and is truly a hidden gem. Dr. Karp and her whole team are great. I went in for an unusual new mole on my leg, being fair skinned and covered in moles freckles and birthmarks, Todd recommended a full body scan since it had been almost 20 years since my last dermatologist visit. Dr. Karp agreed and thorough checked me from head to toe recommending biopsy on the one I'd identified as well as one on my shoulder that was a bit of a nuisance and gets irritated every time I train heavy squats and the bar causes abrasions across my upper back & shoulders. I got a call early the following week that the results of the leg biopsy were abnormal and recommended to remove a larger section of the surrounding tissue. I was able to get an appointment just a few days later and the procedure was a breeze. I particularly liked that Dr Karp was very communicative with both me and her medical assistant, explaining why she was suturing in a particular way and reason for certain techniques. I think it shows a lot about doctors when they're actively working to educate their team rather than just barking orders at their staff. It helped to create a very positive environment and put me at ease during the procedure. 10/10 recommend!! And I'm looking forward to trying her skin care line when it becomes available. I have confidence that the same quality of care Dr Karp exercises in treating patients will be dedicated to developing high quality products. read more

She's courteous, personable, recommends the treatment that you need without rushing or upselling you and gets the procedures done promptly and without a hitch. Ridiculous. Save your money and go elsewhere. I had something removed. Dingy office, super hot, not terribly sanitary, but the doctor was fine. The day before I had to have the stitches removed, I got a call that the doctor had a conference and couldn't see me until next week. I asked for instructions on removing them myself, as I had to travel out of town for several days and couldn't come in. They refused to give me any further instructions except "go to urgent care." Does this sound like healthcare to you? Not to me. They make their money with BS cosmetic stuff like cool sculpting, but health care this is not. Go to a real doctor's office if you have concerns. read more

Very disappointing. $700 for less than 20 units of Botox - are you kidding me? That's TWICE the market value. To make matters worse - I requested a specific doctor and without an apology or explanation - another doctor or physicians assistant walks in the room. Finding a personable, kind doctor in NYC is a pretty tough task. When you find one, you'd better stick with her/him. I also think it's good to refer these good doctors to whomever inquires. I started seeing a dermatologist a few years ago. Through a friend at work, who referred her to me, I had finally found a great one. Pretty soon several of my friends were patients of hers as well. (It was kind of comical because we had wondered if we'd get a referral bonus. haha). Then she left the practice. I panicked*. I wondered, 'Where on earth am I going to find a better dermatologist than her??' Well, my friend tracked her down at her new office in the West Village. Whew! The office is somewhat small and below street level. Once inside, at one point you actually have to duck your head because the ceilings are low. The environment isn't really like a doctor's office at all either. I felt as if I was sitting in someone's living room. There are usually samples of Eucerin lotion and lots of magazines to peruse while you wait. The front desk staff are quite cordial too. The doctors here offer clinical, cosmetic and surgical dermatology services. They also have offices in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. So, let's hear it for good doctors and good skin! read more

I really wanted to like the place. I went to see Dr Broncaccio in his Brooklyn office a couple of years ago and was very happy. He is an amazing doctor. I have been recommending him to all of my friends and family. This time I went to see another dermatologist in the West Village location. The location of the office is amazing, but the office itself is tiny, outdated and has no natural light. It's in the basement of the brownstone. The receptionist, Gloria, was very unprofessional and rude. I got an appointment with Dr. Lebow to remove the mole and discuss my skin rush. She seemed nice, I only saw her for a couple of minutes, before she sent me back to the front desk to discuss my benefits with Gloria, as she wasn't sure if my insurance would cover the mole removal procedure. I went back to Gloria to find out about my benefits. She had no idea, and said it was my responsibility to call the insurance company to verify if the procedure would be covered. I had to have an argument with her, before she finally agreed to call Aetna. I don't think it was appropriate, but she was screaming my name, date of birth and id number, so other patients in the waiting room area could hear that. Isn't it against HIPPA regulations? I can't express how disappointed I was. I went back to the exam room to change, never saw Dr Lebow again, so i didn't get a chance to ask her about my skin rush. I paid my co-payment and left. I would see Dr Lebow again, but not in the West Village office. read more

I say this with the greatest esteem- Dr. Brancaccio saved my sisters life. My sister had spine surgery at the age of 14 and at 16 there was an abnormal growth on her scar. My family disregarded it as some mild acne due to her age, but when it did not get better within a week we went to see Dr. Brancaccio. With one look at it he told us to get her to her surgeon as quickly as possible. The metal rod fused to her spin was causing her body to reject the rod- and could have poisoned her blood- and if the infection was left untreated for another two days it would have gone into her bones. Dr. Brancaccio is a lovely personable doctor who despite his exceedingly busy schedule makes time for each of his patients, asks them many questions about what ever it is they are seeing him for, and will take as much time with you necessary to make sure you feel comfortable and confident when you leave his office. I would never go anywhere else- and I did so even before I had insurance because the treatment here is worth every penny. read more

Both her and her staff take great treatment notes and work with you to address your issues. We've had difficulty finding a good Dermotologist in the last 8 years. Truly terrible experience - both in patient care and bedside manner. I came for my first visit and was greeted by the nurse who, when it was time to take me back from reception, didn't even call my name as they usually do she just looked at me and said "let's go". When the Dr. Karp came in she didn't even examine my face (I came in for mild skin issues) - she immediately prescribed me an oral and topical treatment. Unbelievable. I've never been to a dermatologist appointment where they don't even LOOK at my skin! When I tried to ask probing questions and was hesitant to use oral treatment she was dismissive. I will never come back and frankly am stunned at the positive reviews. This was honestly the worst doctor appointment I've ever been to. read more

I had a pleasant visit and short wait time. I was recommended to this office by a family member. It wasn't just an in an out visit. Dr. Brancaccio personally saw me and gave me instructions as to my treatment plan. My prior dermatologist had long wait times, and I was billed for seeing him when he had interns look at me instead. I called the day of and they were able to see me almost immediately. I waited about 15 minutes in the consulting room and after my diagnosis, Dr. Amy Goldstein gave me a prescription for something topical as well as antibiotics. And she gave me samples and a coupon! read more
