I left this appointment feeling really dismissed and frustrated. I came in hoping for a clear explanation and guidance, but instead I got vague answers and comments that felt reductive and quite upsetting. The dermatologist kept focusing on whether the issue was "noticeable" or not, as if my only concern was cosmetic, when I was actually there because I wanted real answers about what was going on with my body. She also brushed it off as possibly being an allergy, without giving me much reason or explanation, and then suggested I stop using Burt's Bees because of the fragrance.... that advice felt like an afterthought rather than a thorough evaluation. What bothered me most was the way she spoke to me... trying to appeal to vanity instead of actually listening. I never said I cared about what it looked like; I wanted clarity and to feel taken seriously. I walked out with no reassurance, no useful plan, and honestly more confused than when I walked in. I even had asked if we could test the spot and swab for more information and she dismissed the idea saying that it was just an irritated hair. If you're looking for a dermatologist who really listens, validates your concerns, and digs deeper instead of brushing things off, I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

I've been coming here for years and always been pleased with it. I've long communicated that I want to look better but "natural" and "good for my age." I went in late January to get filler which I hadn't had in many years and - to my delight - the doctor said she didn't think I needed it. She suggested Sculptra and I adored the results. Her recommendation - the not needing filler - made me really trust her. The second appointment was early March - Sculptra recommends you have 2-3 treatment sessions over the course of a few months, with the typical being 3. I foolishly assumed it was to sustain the original treatment. It's mid April and I am horrified by my face. It's somehow both over-stuffed and wooden, borderline mannish. I don't look like me and it's really noticeable which is mortifying. I dread seeing my reflection and have so far avoided seeing my family and friends. My face doesn't match my forehead or neck - something I think would be taken into consideration. For a drug that can last for 2 years, there really should have been more discussion! While I know the doctors here have good intentions - I've been to a bunch of them - generally they don't talk/consult with their patients enough, and it's kind of a needles-first enterprise. I'm trapped in a face that is not my own - it's like my soul is gone from it. read more

This place is a joke. Never made it there because they were demanding a $350 deposit even though they accept my instance and my insurance is in network. My insurance confirmed twice I only had a $25 co-pay and provided the directory that explicitly states they are in network. 2x the office indicated they could not verify my insurance then the 3rd time they indicated they wanted the deposit in case my insurance doesn't cover. I don't have time for nonsense and I don't have $350 to give for just for fun. Ridiculous. There are plenty of other dermatologist in the city. Found another dermatologist and no issues. Consulted Dr. Sapna Palep in August for skin concerns. She has dutifully cancelled appointments at least 5 times thereafter with zero accountability. Had conveyed to her office how urgent my concerns were and visited her office who conveniently redirected me to a nurse practitioner and charged me the same fee as for a doctor. Extremely unprofessional doctor as well as a rude front desk, and clearly geared towards scamming customers. read more

DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE HERE! I went in for a scheduled treatment, and during the prep, an assistant accidentally dropped a large amount of numbing cream on my light beige jacket, leaving a permanent stain. When I brought this to their attention, the manager arrived and offered no clear resolution, only saying she could "maybe" cover dry cleaning. Most professional establishments take accountability when a mistake is clearly theirs, but that was not the case here. When I requested a basic assurance that they would at least cover the cleaning costs, instead of offering a sure solution, they doubled down on me and Dr. Nadia refused to conduct my treatment. I had taken time off work and traveled a long way specifically for this appointment with her, only to be told to leave after having numbing cream sitting on my face for 30 minutes. Eventually, another doctor agreed to proceed with the treatment, but by the time it ended, the manager who had promised to follow up had apparently already left for the day. No compensation. No explanation. No effort to make it right. My jacket, which I valued deeply is now permanently damaged. The entire experience was deeply unprofessional and disappointing. A simple acknowledgment and a resolution would have shown basic respect and integrity. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed and wronged. Saw PA Tiffany for the first time recently! I was extremely nervous about receiving botox for the first time but she put me at complete ease. She answered all of my questions, explained the process in great detail, and even gave me a stress ball to ease my tension. We had a very open and candid conversation on what improvements I wanted to make to my face. I didn't feel rushed or pressured into having "too many units" injected, as I didn't want to look overdone. I wish all the bad luck and darkness and misery upon the founder, an Indian woman who nearly killed me with a Sculptra injection that I never wanted in the first place and asked her to stop during the session. Since then, I have lost sensation in my face for days, and now my face looks nearly doubled in size, I can hardly make facial expression even smiles, and I still feel a lot of pressure on my temples and cheeks. I initially visited her office for a consultation to reduce under-eye puffiness, but instead, she subjected me to this procedure based on her repeated lies that she had '30 years of Sculptra experience with no failed cases.' The worst part is that this injection is not reversible. If you ever meet this Indian woman, the founder of this place, be aware she carries the toxic fake and miserable energy. Like others have mentioned they have extremely poor billing practices. I was initially told my insurance was approved/in network and that I would have only a small copay -- but upon completion they told me my bill was almost $600. To fix this, they instructed me to ask my primary care for an illegal backdated referral. I did submit a referral (though not a backdated one as that is illegal per my PCP) and they said it would not work and proceeded to charge me a "self pay" amount of $250 which is still significantly more than the quoted copay amount they had initially provided me. They need to be better informed of their own billing processes so patients are not stuck with surprise bills. read more

Do not recommend. Made an appointment a few days in advance on Zocdoc because it said they took my insurance. Arrived in the AM for the office to tell me that they have to bill me $350 and then they reimburse IF the insurance covers everything. I asked why they didn't let me know sooner, to which they responded they sent a message (2 hours before the appointment time) Ridiculous that they couldn't let me know at least 24 hours in advance. Which gives me the impression they want to rush patience through the process so they get paid. read more

This is an update due to their new location at 75 spring street. It is not a review on the medical staff And the five star review still stands. It looks very similar to the Columbus circle branch. Thank goodness the door is frosted and not clear glass like the one uptown. I miss the old look. It had a more delineated reception area and the staff were corteThough the front desk is right there after the small entrance - there were 3 front desk gals and no sign directing visitor which one to go to. The two front desk gals were not inviting and at first I was ignored and then one directed me to the side receptionist who registered me. It could be that I came here after 5pm and the staff were getting ready to leave. Advice: Please invest in signs to direct visitors to the right desk read more

My main issue with this practice is billing. Upon checking out for my visit, the receptionist told me that I had a $0 co-pay. She takes down the information of my credit card and I'm on my way with no charges to my card. The next morning, I wake up to a text indicating that I have a $400 billing charge for my visit. I call to dispute this and the Navaderm representative instructs me to wait for my insurance to process what it needs to and ignore the charge for the time being. 2-weeks later and I get another text indicating I now have a charge for $140 co-pay. I'm glad that the $400 has been lowered, but not happy that I was misdirected. Why did the receptionist tell me I have a $0 co-pay yet am still being charged? To have waited 20 minutes for my appointment, spend a rushed 2-minutes with the doctor, AND be improperly informed of my financial responsibilities leaves a sour taste in my mouth about this practice. Dr. Kunal Malik is a great dermatologist. While performing cancer screenings and biopsies, he carefully explained everything he was doing, patiently answered every question, and provided clear follow-up instructions. He was extremely careful in making sure I felt nothing when performing any procedure, and I have near-zero scarring. I highly recommend seeing him if you need something looked at or removed. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Palep for years and she's amazing! BUT... ever since more doctors were added, this place has become more of a factory where they keep booking patients without regarding the wait time. I use to wait 5 minutes or less once I check in with the receptionist and this is before they moved floors/office. Now, I waited almost 30 minutes before I was even called to head to the back where I had to wait some more before seeing Dr. Palep. The time spent in the doctor's presence also felt rushed, as if they need to get you out of there so the next patient can use the room. The service has definitely gone downhill and their online patient system called Clara is messy and messages are not answered in a timely manner. read more

Went to Joey Pang at 75 spring street who was great both times I saw her. No issues with the doctors/PAs/providers. However, the rest of this place is extremely disorganized. After I had my consultation for miradry - I was told to go to the front desk to schedule my miradry procedure appointment. The desk staff were rude and unhelpful. She made an appointment for me for 6 weeks out - and I confirmed with her that this is for miradry. In response to me asking for confirmation, she rolled her eyes and told me it was automatically in there. Then she had me pay a $25 copay for the consultation. After I paid - someone ran up to her and reminded her to charge me $250 for the down payment. She automatically ran my credit card again, and when I told her I wanted that on a different card she said "well it already went through" and I left. Flash forward to my 8am appointment date 6 weeks later - they were shocked when I said I was there for miradry and only scheduled me for a 15 minute follow-up appointment instead of 1.5 hour procedure. Although they were apologetic, they blamed it on a "glitch" in the system and had me come back on their lunch hour. Since they were so apologetic and got me in on the same day, I was honestly happy with the experience and just thought it was a freak accident. When my appointment ended and I went to pay - the front desk worker ran away to the back to "confirm the amount and confirm that I paid my down payment"...which was weird. Then I paid and left. The next day - I get a call from the front desk regarding my appointment yesterday (???) asking me to call back. I call back a half hour later and was put on "hold" but really she just was breathing into the phone for 10 minutes and then said they'll call me back. They call me back claiming that they undercharged me by $1000 and was telling me to now pay it over the phone. It's honestly incredibly embarrassing and unprofessional. It makes me nervous that I trusted this place with such a pricey and semi-invasive procedure. They ended up giving me a 10% discount for all the trouble and apologized - which was nice - but the whole thing left me with a horrible taste in my mouth. The place is nice, Joey was great, but the rest of the staff is very unprofessional and disorganized. I see many other reviews here claiming the similar things happened to them, so sadly I do not recommend this place at all. The treatment I got sometimes requires 2 treatments where the second one is at a reduced price. I honestly don't think I would even come back here if I needed to - and would rather pay the non-reduced price for another treatment somewhere else. read more

He is very knowledgeable, patient and very thorough in his examination. He shows great attention to detail and exhibits authenticity. Horrible service. Came in for a checkup, paid my copay at time of visit. First, front desk never emailed me my receipt. Second, the billing office charged my insurance 3 times for 1 visit. Third, I've been getting a copay bill each month. Called and message through Klara, no one followed up with me or told me there was zero balance on my account. Even screen shot my credit card statement as proof. It's been 6 months and issue has not been settled, still getting bills each month. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE: I rarely leave reviews, but this had to be one of my worst experiences with a medical office to date. For starters, everything everyone else is saying about double billing is true. I paid at the time of the appointment and they still billed through my insurance who are now trying to collect a co-pay from me. I contacted their office and sent in the receipt. They said they would fix it and it has been 2 weeks and nothing. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. If it had only been the payment issue, I might have given them 3 stars, but the entire visit was an utter waste of money because I was improperly diagnosed after the doctor spent all of 2 minutes with me. They didn't run a single test and immediately suggested my acne was hormonal even though I told her it started after mask use simply because I was almost 30. She said all acne in women over 30 was hormonal, which seems like a seriously inept generalization to make in medicine. They tried to prescribe me Accutane even after I told them I had a history of depression and that I found this to be dangerous. The doctor insisted that claims Accutane could cause suicidal thoughts were exaggerated but I said I would prefer a different route because I am very sensitive to medication. Luckily I sought a second opinion and was diagnosed (and successfully treated) by a single test for fungal acne (often caused by mask use). The check in process is very efficient. The send you the forms ahead of time on their online portal. They answered all of my questions on that portal as well. The medical assistant was very relatable and kind and he made me feel comfortable. He went through my medical history and briefed Dr. Palep. Dr. Palep was very helpful in addressing all of my concerns one by one. She is very patient and pleasant to talk to. I have been wanting to go to this doctor for years and now I am finally here. Honestly she could have taken me for a ride given how impressionable I was as a first timer, but she was super honest and told me all the things I didn't need. I, too, have been taken advantage of by Spring Street Dermatology. Went in for an allergic reaction back in April. Was told I didn't need a script or any treatment; just give it time and it'll go away. Sure enough it did - no complaints with the doctors whatsoever. Upon leaving I was told that I was "all set" and my insurance would cover everything. I had given my credit card to the receptionist when I arrived, and just this past month - 5 months later - I see a $200 charge from SSD!! Based on other reviews it sounds like the front desk is running a credit card scam operation. STAY AWAY. UPDATE: 6/6/19 - I was just charged $163 AGAIN by this SCAM of a company!!! Having to contact my bank later today to dispute the charge. This business is beyond crooked and I will have to change my CC info because they are charging without permission, reasoning, or invoicing. Insane! read more

The office even called me upon booking to confirm. Upon arrival and 20 minutes of waiting, the receptionist told me they actually don't take my insurance and that I would need to pay $250. I spent one hour in their office speaking to the manager & supervisor. They admitted it was the office's fault, but provided me with no solution. I went for IPL photofacial here and was willing to pay 3 times more than I had when I lived in NJ because Dr Palep and her office seemed to have good reviews and credentials. I was rushed, provided no suggestions or pre/post treatment instructions unless I asked and it was sent a few hours before the treatments. The office management is the worst, they canceled my first appointment and then tried to charge me $500 to reschedule. But if the treatment went well I would have not cared but $1k later and barely noticeable results. For that price I could have went back to NJ and got 3 treatments with much better results from someone who is not a doctor. The Yelp rating must be from years ago. Go elsewhere. Don't waste $1000 like I did when you can get better treatment and pay less elsewhere. Now I am stuck until winter because there office canceled my first appointment. read more

Tried to say I didn't pay my copay of $50. Continuously contacted me in terms to collect the money I HAD ALREADY PAID. I decided to take matters into my own hands and went to them in person with a printed receipt of my payment. Excuse after excuse was given.
