Terrible service and even worse food! This was my "Buffalo chicken wrap"....plain boiled chicken. I am always hesitant to return because of the godawful service (The last time I visited I waited over an HOUR inside after calling 20 minutes ahead to order the most simple sandwich on the menu) I really want to like this place and I have even given them numerous chances because I do enjoy the coffee and love to support small businesses but after this last visit I will no longer be returning. Do better and get better staff that are there to do a job and not just hang out! If 0 stars were possible that's what I would select! read more

First time here on a work trip. To be honest, I can't wait until I come back to this area just to visit this place again. Extremely nice staff, plenty of room to grab a seat, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. I had the Breakfast Grilled Cheese - PERFECT for the morning. The Honey Bee Latte was great too. SIP in Highland is so Yummy. i always enjoy their French Onion soup as it's served Hot. theres nothing worse than Luke warm soup. I was disappointed with my first visit to Sip Coffee House. When my husband and mom arrived, it was busy and we were looking forward to getting coffee and pastries. The menu looked great, and we waited about 10 minutes in line to place our coffee order. When we got to the front of the line, the server asked us if we were dining in. I responded yes, and she said to please grab a table and the server would take our order. I asked if we could just place our order at the counter now as we had waited, and she responded that it was better if we take a seat and let the server place our order. I was a little disappointed that we had already waited in line to have to wait again, but hey, we hadn't been there before and didn't know the procedure. So it was fine - my mom found a table for us and we took a seat to place our order. After waiting for about 10 more minutes, a server came by our table and my mom asked if we could have someone wipe down the table as it was a bit dirty. The server called for a busboy to wipe the table, then looked at her and said, "for future reference, please don't sit down at a dirty table." At that point, we left. The food and drinks looked great and the place was cute...but service was not helpful nor friendly, and I think we'll be passing on this place. read more

I haven't been to Sip for a couple of months and one change is that if you dine in, you grab a menu from the counter and the waiter will take your order at the table you sit at. It feels a bit weird having to order at your table when you're just wanting a coffee, but it's not so bad. I ordered the fall latte and couldn't really taste the flavors... it just tasted like sweet coffee. The mug I received was not washed well and there were old remains of someone else's coffee on the handle and along the cup. I couldn't drink it all after discovering that. I'll probably just order to-go from now on. I don't drink their coffee often. I usually just drink tea which is why I'm still giving them 4 stars! read more

Fully vaxed and ready to Sip. Ive been coming here pretty often now that I'm ok with close quarters. It's a good thing I gave this place a second chance because it's 1 of 2 coffee shops in the local area, but even jf there were more, it would still stand out as a great place to grab a cup of joe. My only gripes are that they sometimes *accidentally* put parmesan on my vegan sandwich specials and that flies are just as down to hang around as I am. Came here numerous times and food is really great except, the service kills the overall experience. Every single time we have been here, our waiters/baristas are talking amongst themselves instead of helping tables. We were not the only table waiting to get service. I have never had such a horrible experience before. I was there last night there was maybe two or three people working and the service was good, I come back today, and it was absolutely horrible. The drink was gross, and the barista was rude, the one with the short blond looking bob and the nose piercings. She was so nice with the other severs and workers but just nasty to me, how is this professional? The service was 10 times worse even with more people and my food and drink took so much longer to come out. Every time i'm in the region I stop by! I love the local art and the cozy seating. The servers are super nice and the line goes fast! We ordered two breakfast sandwiches, The Hobbit and The Nate and they were delicious! Crispy bread, fresh spinach tomatoes and cucumbers, lots of cheese. These are not your chain restaurant bland sandwiches. The coffee almost goes unsaid because they have every flavor combination you can think of! If I could give two different reviews I would one for the morning workers and one for the night workers and it's not what you would expect, for the past three weeks I have been coming with my family after church because we love the decor and the kids can color while we wait for food, and I usually come 4 nights out of the week to work away from the house. All of the times I have come in the morning I have noticed there being more workers but the service being awful, we've had a younger male server, never told us his name other wise I would mention it, never really come by the table and always seemed stressed out and irritated which both me and my wife understand we've both worked as servers but he wasn't really serving? Even when there's maybe two other tables he just kinda kept walking past us when we were trying to flag him down. I also heard him talking badly about customers once he got to the back because my wife loves to sit on the couches, about how their orders were weird or how bad a tip was. Someone else brought us our drinks and food and checked on us and then he just gave us the check and didn't check up on us. The table behind us had asked for a manager and then he said he was the manager which was a shock because there's no way that with that service you are a manager. While when I come at night by myself to work, the service is so much nicer even when it's busy I've had a couple different servers most often it's Selena I believe and another that I don't know how to spell, but they are talkative and help give recommendations and are so much nicer! the drinks are better and the red hair young lady that makes them can handle the stress much better than the morning people. Maybe the manager can take a lesson from this. We still like the place just hope the service can get better read more

So happy to find this funky little coffee shop in Highland. I was eager to find a local alternative to the usual Starbucks I try to avoid, and this place is definitely it. The people behind the counter were friendly and very knowledgeable about their drinks. They were happy to customize my drink and it all turned out to be an amazing cup of coffee. Loved this place. Had the grilled cheese breakfast sandwich, salads and various lattes. Went multiple times during the week we were staying in Hammond. Service was great, Felix was fantastic! Cute, artsy vibe made us feel welcome. A welcome respite from the food-by-the-pound restaurants the area is known for. I'm updating my review because of service. The team is still friendly, but have become very indifferent. I walk up to order a coffee and the staff is usually talking with each other. Not a problem in general, but the experience is getting a little annoying. This is representative of my experience lately: Order a coffee with no eye contact....just asking for my order, while still talking to other staff! I tip, because I always do...NEVER a thank you or acknowledgement even. Set the coffee on the counter and turns away without saying anything. I thought this place was a progressive, open minded establishment. I was wrong. For about 2 years I had gone to a pagan group that met there and discussed interesting topics. I had learned that the group is no longer welcome to meet there because they want to attract the church going crowd. The pagan group made them 'uncomfortable'. This group of people never did anything to anyone but meet and talk and bought a ton of food and drinks. This is not only wrong but unlawful and falls under religious discrimination. Everytime I'm in NWI/in the are, I always crave the grilled chicken club sandwich. I always get the same thing. I love the pasta that comes with it. The staff there is very friendly and attentive. I am so torn about this place, because it makes me think it's better than the Crown Point location. It has all the same delicious food, drinks, but man the space is so big! There are more places for eating, doing work, and just relaxing with friends. The shop is right by a bike path, which is perfect. There is a huge parking lot. This place is super cozy and a lovely environment. The food and coffee is great and the staff are really friendly!! Every now and then they host an "Anime Night" for all anime lovers and when I attended, it was a blast!!! My group was also able to come in and study in a practical environment while we enjoyed excellent coffee. Quite disappointed. I talked the place up. I bragged about the cool artsy vibe. I came in to to order two drinks and two pastries with my girlfriend. We sat and waited for the order. They handed the two pastries to us and after they hand delivered every drink to every customer, dine in or to go, they left ours on the counter. I asked if it was indeed ours and it was. They were not busy. They were not tending to other needs. It was just there for us to retrieved on our own. Yes I'm more than capable of getting my own coffee but if you handed it to every single customer before us, I expect that for me too. No apologies. Nothing. I love this hidden gem. Such a great coffee spot. They're food is pretty dang good as well. Food: I've come a few times. I usually get their Cobb salad. Today, I was there really early, so I got one of their egg sandwiches on gluten free bread. Soooooo Good. Love love love all the gluten free options. I also got a great cup of coffee. My dad had a latte and really liked it. Ambience: it's a really cool place. There's tons of different artwork on the walls. They have tables as well as some couches and comfy chairs. Nice little place... I know how hard it is to be a small business owner nowadays, so it's refreshing to go to a real independent cafe even if they are overcharging me. I get the feeling this business is an afterthought for the owner(s). I wonder how often they drop in to see how things are going. If they did, they would notice there is a table right in front of the cash register. It is so wonky to order here. The people who have ordered, are ordering, and have ordered are all standing in a 3ft x 5ft space... My advice; Create some sort of a flow in the main ordering area. Take out the giant table in front of the cash register (it makes no sense ). Then get one primary centrally located menu (up high off the counter); there are paper menus and then a bunch of signs at different locations in the lobby area... I don't know what is on the menu and what is art work. Lastly (I know, this costs money) get a glass case for the muffins and desserts. It will separate the cafe area from the seating area, clear up all the clutter on the counter, and keep fruit flies at bay. Regarding my order... I love the to-go cups, hated the boba-tea. It was the worst boba-tea I've ever had. Either learn how to make the drink or take it off the menu. Seriously, just go to Chinatown and watch how they make it. You are missing a few essential steps. Conclusion... Great local cafe to go with your high school sweetheart and hid away in one of the back rooms and make-out because my parents are always home and you have younger brothers and sisters and sitting in my Ford Focus in the Target parking lot just gets old after awhile. read more
