If you are looking for the ultimate comfort food fix, look no further! I stopped by this burger place recently and was completely blown away by everything we ordered. Burgers were cooked to perfection & the onion rings had such a tasty batter! I've missed these donuts in my life so i was pleased to have them again. You order at a kiosk but staff is constantly walking around cleaning up and asking if you need anything. It's in the shopping plaza of Vs pizza off Gate Parkway so there's a small little grass area for the kiddos as well as plenty of outdoor and indoor seating!

Absolutely. This version has a little more bite without sounding like you went there looking for something to complain about. We found Sip N Smash through a newspaper article, and we make a point of trying new restaurants and supporting new businesses. Unfortunately, this visit made us question our adventurous spirit. We walked in and received no greeting, no instructions, nothing. After looking around for a minute, we figured out that the kiosk tucked awkwardly in the corner near the front was apparently our waiter, cashier, and host for the evening. The restaurant looked nice inside. To their credit, the food came out fast. Maybe a little too fast. For about $60, we tried the OG Burger, Classic Smash, Fungi Burger, beef tallow fries, and the three count doughnuts. The burgers somehow pulled off the impressive combination of being burnt AND cold. I am still trying to figure out the science behind that one. It honestly made me wonder if the meat had been sitting on the grill waiting for us before we even walked through the door. The beef tallow fries were good, but all the hype had me expecting a revelation. We are good. Steak 'n Shake fries can sleep peacefully tonight. The doughnuts were actually good, and between them and the fries, they saved this review from one star. I really wanted to like Sip N Smash. We came specifically because we enjoy giving new businesses a shot. But for $60, self service ordering, no greeting, and cold burnt burgers, this one was more "Sip N Pass" for us.

Burgers, fries, and onion rings were delicious. I'll go again, but will do takeout or sit outside. Inside is stressful with loud music and staff constantly calling out names of customers.

We dined in on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy but the staff was attentive. We ordered a fungi with a veggie burger substitute and a classic smash with onion rings. The veggie burger was a beyond burger type meat which I wish was specified on the menu but was fine. The classic smash was flavorful and had a good sear. We overall enjoyed the experience.

We came in around 8 PM on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. You order on a kiosk and then find a table for yourself. There was indoor and outdoor seating. Our drinks came out pretty quickly, but the burgers took a decent amount longer. The main complaint here was that the milkshake was half melted by the time the food arrived. Though, my boyfriend said the milkshake was incredibly delicious. We both got the OG burger which was tasty. I asked to sub pepper jack cheese, and they were able to accommodate. Overall, this was a good spot for a casual dinner.

Came here on a Saturday and they were packed! It's self service kiosk and for how busy it was the wait for the food wasn't so bad, but the people making their decisions on the food took foreverrrr ha... but I don't blame them. It's a causal dine or you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. So I got the mushroom Swiss and it was very delicious! A little pricey but still awesome. I don't have a picture of the jalapeno hot Honey burger, but if you like spicy and sweet I would definitely recommend that one was because it was mouth dropping gooood.

Visited Sip N Smash late Sunday night and really enjoyed the meal. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and you seat yourself after ordering at either the kiosk or the counter. While you don't interact much with the staff they do make sure to ask you how your meal is going! The menu is currently focused on burgers, shakes, fries, onion rings, lemonade, and bottled drinks (no soda station). We ordered the original smash burger and the jalapeño hot honey burger, and both were delicious. They are not skimping on the toppings either! The burgers had an excellent char with crispy edges, and the buns held up well to the weight of the burgers. The original comes with their special sauce,no ketchup or mustard, and those aren't available at the tables either btw. The onion rings were decent but didn't stand out; they could have used a bit more seasoning. We didn't try the fries. The loaded milkshake was thick, creamy, and satisfying(everything you want in a shake). The mini donut ontop of the shake was cute but a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the meal. Overall, if you're price-sensitive or looking for large portions, this may not be your spot. But if you enjoy creative burgers and don't mind ordering items separately (no combo meals), it's definitely worth a try!

First time in. Hard to get a seat but understandable. Burgers were great. Staff friendly and nice a little loud with music and so many people but that's okay. Definitely coming back with the family

Wow this place was excellent! I typically do not review a place on the first review: I go back at least one or two more times just to sake sure . Don't need to, excellent smash burger. They only opened July 8th and were slammed but were very efficient . They need to already consider the expansion plans because it's that good.

The staff were friendly but super busy due to inside volume of people. The food looks good and the steak was cooked fine, but the chimichurri had too much oil & fries were super salty. Like it was fried in it and topped off with it... I had let the person who brought the food out know (who works with the chef), and they never offered to bring me different fries. They just said they would tell the kitchen but didn't offer anything and so I didn't eat the fries at all. This plate being $38 before tax, I mean you want good fries....For the drink I got one of their mocktails which honestly was not up to par at all tasting like water and cucumber and nothing else, and I ended up ordering a soda... Again staff are friendly, but if management could pay attention a little more even when they're busy, it would help a lot, especially if someone is not happy with their food. I will not try this place again for a while as there are other places better than this that have similar dishes. Again when people are eating alone or in a group, make them happy with the food please...

Upon being shown to our booth, the floor by the table we were seated at was extremely slippery. At first I thought it was due to a fresh mopping and they had just forgotten a sign, but it stayed extremely hard to navigate the entire meal. Let's get into the highlights: some of the freshest table side guacamole I've ever had. Made right in front of you and you get a ton for what you pay for. My lunch portion of my Yucatán Quesadilla was only $9.99 as it was a Friday and it was just okay. Unfortunately, I did have to cut it myself. The "small" margarita for $12.99 is absolutely gigantic. In fact, every drink I saw come out was of ginormous proportion and seems to be the main draw here. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down by both the salsa, as even though there was a full bar, none of the options were all that tasty. The biggest detractor was honestly the service. Our server was extremely nice on the surface, but every opportunity was used to upsell by every member of the staff. A bigger drink, another appetizer, another drink, handing us their card and asking for a review following paying. I normally never have issue with this but it became overwhelming at a certain point. This restaurant absolutely feels like it has potential, but might suffocate over its mistakes in an extremely crowded Town Center/Southside Market.

I loved the combo of blue cheese and sweet figs. The meatballs were flavorful and the sauce was really good. I liked the bread plate, just wish there were more dipping options. For dinner we all ordered the strip with the truffle fries and the peppercorn sauce. We really enjoyed the steak, but I liked the one with bernaise better. The steaks were all cooked to our liking. I did have the crab, shrimp and lobster bisque for my appetizer, the seasonal Shanghai Short rib for my entree and the peach butter cake to finish. Truthfully, I was finished long before the dessert, but had to taste each course. It was delectable! Not only did she belittle our party for our ages, but also made it our problem for taking our food/drink orders late. One person in our party asked a question regarding an entree on the menu and he was met with a smart remark and little to no detail explaining the entree. Later on in the night when the whole table is done eating - we all decide to help out and clean up the table as best as we can. Frenchie decided it was a good time to make yet another smart remark about stacking the plates on top of each other. She continued to say "Have you ever been a server before?" and before really answering she cut me off to say "well then you should know not to stack the plates because you don't know if the server can handle that many plates" ... as she continued to take the pile of dishes out of my hand. If she can't handle too many plates in her hands, then she should've just waited to clear the table or politely say "i'll come back for those plates in a minute" by the end of it all , the entire table felt very uncomfortable by her demeanor towards us - of course we still tipped because we understand what it's like to make a living off of tips but to have a sour attitude and continually reminding us that you're here for tips isn't a great way of having customers coming back.

The burger started off strong with a nice smoky flavor, and the tanginess of the BBQ sauce gave it a great taste. However, the burger patty itself lacked seasoning and didn't have the flavor I was expecting. The bacon was nice and crispy, which was a plus. Recent years I have not gone as much; a few visits (not to this location but in other states) were not quite what I remembered. Nonetheless, we were in town for the night, and this location was within walking distance from our hotel. We arrived slightly before our reservation and were seated quickly. Our server came to the table and was very polite, took our drink order, and quickly returned. My wife had a glass of red wine (I can't remember which), and for me a Vodka martini with olives. My drink was good and exactly what I needed after a long day of travel. For appetizers, we ordered the Avocado Bomb, ahi tuna, crab salad, crispy wontons, and the fire-grilled artichokes with rémoulade. The artichokes were just okay, and honestly I'm not sure how much was the restaurants fault or the fact that artichokes are a pain to eat and theirs nothing to them but chewy leaves (the rémoulade was good though!). The Avocado Bomb was very good, although one critique was that, while, yes, it was crab salad at the bottom, the crab was nearly shredded, but overall a good dish! I opted for Prime Rib (as rare as they could get it to me), with au jus and smashed potatoes. My wife decided on the Carolina Crab Cakes, jumbo lump crab, chili mayonnaise, mustard sauce, French fries, and Southern coleslaw. I also opted for a side of horseradish sauce per our server's recommendation. I will say that I've ordered prime rib before in similar chain restaurants (some of them chain steakhouses), and without fail they come out nearly well done. The excuse is always because "it's precooked and it is cooked to a certain temp...blah, blah, blah". Yet, I ordered it here, and it was cooked exactly as I wanted it. Now, I won't claim it was a great cut of beef, but it was good and did the trick. The potatoes were good as well. The horseradish sauce, though, had far too much mayo in it and tasted like it. But still a dish I would order again! My wifes crab cakes were very good as well, a great amount of lump crab meat without the filler you see so often. The coleslaw was typical coleslaw, tasteless and pointless when you have a dish at market price. But the fries were good! Overall, we had a good experience; the service and food were very good. If in the area again, we would certainly return, and this may have me visit other J. Alexander's during my travels elsewhere.
