I am making this review as I stuff my face... I literally took one bite and immediately just knew I needed to let everyone know how good this spot is. My family and I are not from here and I have been looking for a good middle eastern bakery. When I looked on yelp, I was overwhelmed with all the options. We decided to just go with whoever was closest. We ordered a few cheese manakeesh and some lahmajun or lahmab3jeen....Everything was made fresh to order and sooooo tasty. The lahma one was so perfectly spiced and crispy, my favorite. I will definitely be back 10/10

I can say that if I walk into a breakfast café/restaurant and there's obviously some locals/regulars chatting it up with the owner and hanging out, then it's going to be a good dining experience. Going into Sipan Bakery was just that. A group of locals enjoying their breakfast/brunch, and a local chatting up the owner as well as asking for mechanic recommendations. You can tell it's a community staple. The owner was very friendly to us too and made sure that everything was to our liking. You can see the pizza oven from over the counter and that everything is made/baked in house. We got the: 1) Glendale Mashrooha Sandwich: -This is a cheese mashrooha with soujouk meat, scrambled eggs, topped with tomatoes, fresh mint leaves, and olives. -I believe a mashrooha sandwich is an open flat bread sandwich based on what I've seen during a Google search. If not a lot of results are showing up and the bakery itself is a result, you know that it's a unique menu offering. -Soujouk meat is ground meat seasoned with dry spices. -Nice hearty breakfast sandwich and you don't feel as guilty eating it with the "veggies" included on top. 2) Ajarski Kchachapouri - 2 eggs: -This pastry resembles the eye of Sauron with 2 sunny side up eggs in the middle with cheese. -Simple and delicious pastry, you can't go wrong with this. -Once again nicely seasoned, not too oily, gooey cheese and yummy runny eggs. -First time having one of these and I feel like it's going to be one of those dishes I'd immediately order again if I see it on a menu. 3) Lahmajune: -This is an Armenian pizza made with flatbread and a flavorful ground beef and tomato topping mix. -Nicely crispy flat bread and I love tomato mixed with meat. It's very flavorful without being too salty or overbearing. -Delicious type of pizza that I've never had until now. Would stop by again if I'm in the area.

Found Sipan on Yelp and came here to try the lahmahjun. I was greeted nicely and ordered a couple things to go, I asked for one of the lahmahjun to be warmed and the guy asked if I wanted lemon - I was so confused and told him I've only had it plain. In all my years eating lahmahjun I've only had it as it comes and was never once served lemon with it or even asked if I wanted lemon. I didn't know it was a thing. He recommended that I try it and he was right - holy cow it was a different experience. I first tried it without and it was really good, but the lemon elevated the spices, it was SO good. They are on the smaller size but the topping was generous and flavorful, and the crust was perfect. Appreciate the warm hospitality, gift of knowledge, and delicious treat - will definitely come back! Private parking lot that is a bit narrow but doable.

Upon entry, we were greeted by a very warm and welcoming gentleman. He asked us a few questions and then offered suggestions. This was my first time at an Armenian bakery, so I greatly appreciated it. His suggestions were helpful and I felt no pressure to order one way or another. Everything was delicious. The bread was soft and warm and ever so slightly toasted on the underside of the beorek. The fresh veggies and herbs in the glendale special mashrooha were a refreshing touch and added a crispness to the texture. Very tasty. Definitely try this place, even if youre not familiar with the food. They will help you out and make you feel welcome.

I was in the mood for middle eastern food. Originally, in search of the typical salad, lule kabob, shawarma, something of that nature. I rely on highly positive reviews and came across Sipan Bakery goodness, they did not disappoint! I was so happy to have found this place as this will be my new go to spot! Arrived on a Thursday afternoon and they were quite busy with what seemed to be a group of ladies enjoying themselves. Nonetheless, the owner was sweet and quick with our order. Got the Chicken Shawarma pizza, Lamahjoon and Kibbee (Kofta). The pizza was bomb flavorful and delicious, lamahjoon typical and Kibbee delightful! Sipan Bakery in Glendale has quickly become my new favorite spot for ajarski! As a big lover of this dish, I was thrilled to find that they offer three sizes--perfect for any appetite. I always go for the small with one egg, but they also have options with sujukh and basturma, which I'll definitely try next time. Another must-try is their zatar with veggies--it's soooo delicious! The flavors are amazing, and I can't wait to go back again soon. Highly recommend! And the owner was so nice!

Food was amazing & service was very warm and welcoming. The second you walk in, you can SMELL the quality of the bread and ingredients they use. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they not only make Mediterranean goodies like lahmajune, maneish, shawarma, and ajarski, but they also offer very tasty pizzas, paninis, flatbreads, and sandwiches. My son loved their pizza and I was especially fond of their chicken shawarma. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu!

FIRST TIME HERE: FAMILY RUN VEGETARIAN SPOT FAST FRIENDLY SERVICE CLEAN TASTY I don't have a control group to measure against, but this was an AWESOME EGG PIZZA THING. (Ajarski) see below. But first - THE BREAKDOWN: PARKING There's a very small lot in front that is relatively easy to get to heading East on Glenoaks. There's street parking around the corner (either side) as well. BATHROOM Didn't ask. SERVICE I arrived a little late (1pm) for lunch. Still plenty of people sitting and others coming in for pick up orders. Yet service was fast and SUPER FRIENDLY. First time: so I didn't know what I wanted and was slow. The young guy helping me didn't rush me and let me know what was available. FOOD late: some of the popular borek options were out of stock at 1pm. Still there were other vegetarian options available. Feta borek: Nice salty spicy flakey. A few minutes in the oven for a heat up. Spinach and cheese borek: Also nicely seasoned. And the spinach and cheese went from END TO END. you may have had borek that had "a little" stuffing inside at some other places. Here: This spinach was in the first bite all the way to the last bite! EGG PIZZA THING. Akarski Maybe you've seen it and wanted to try it. THIS IS THE PLACE. I had no idea what to expect (i'm from New York pizza). I didn't even know HOW TO EVEN EAT THE THING. I mean-it's got an egg on it. Wtf. Fortunately, I saw another customer working a 2-egg version. WAS HE WRONG? am I wrong too? See photos - Let me know. I kinda want garlic and onions on this thing, but it was awesome. DOUGH WAS RIGHT COOKING WAS RIGHT EGG WAS RIGHT who cares if I was wrong eating it. Yum. But seriously - am I eating this the right way?? How do you eat it? (Oh yeah, they offered tapatio with it, but I went without, adding only black pepper)

Wonderful place. Delicious food. Kindest people. The service is incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. One of the things I noticed while there is how they know so many of their customers by name, that told me a lot of good about this place right from the start. The food was fantastic we had the breakfast pizza, spinach and cheese beorek and the khachapuri with bacon. I had to stop myself from over ordering, I love beorek and wanted to try them all. We will be back to do just that!

Sipan Bakery is a Armenian/Middle-Eastern- Halal bakery- that specializes is savory breads (boreks)/flatbreads (lahmajoon). I didn't see any sweets or cakes here. Boreks remind me of Middle-Eastern version empanadas filled with savory fillings such as potatoes, cheese, mushrooms, spinach and green olives, meat. Most of their boreks are vegan friendly. The lahmajoon are like personal pizzas except they are on the thin side made with minced meat/veggies, and spices. They also have wraps, plates, paninis, mantee dumplings, fusion-pizzas, and what I call: egg boats known as " Ajarski or Khachapori"... and TACOS! The owner is super friendly and welcoming. I ordered a few things and thought everything was great. I shall return to sample more delicious items on the menu.

Excellent. From price to customer service and a small no frills shady spot to enjoy some middle eastern-empandada style goodness, we were really happy with out experience. The guy heated up savory pastries in the pizza oven, and delivered them one by one to our table for us to devour. Wowzers! Came here on Sunday with the family and EVERYTHING was Ah-mazing and then some! We had their lahmajune taco with Lebni and another with spicy sauce and tomatoes and it was delish! Then...had the breakfast pizza super fresh, fulfilling and flavorful! Also tried the open face cheese with mint and olives! The cheese is yummy and cooked to perfection! The open face zahtar super authentic and delish! The service was beyond amazing! Establishment is clean and cozy they also sell bonjus, Baalbek fruit flavored cider, Lebanese desserts and ice cream! I been coming to Sipan for the past 5 years and i have never been disappointed with the food, service, the prices and the quality of the final product. Sometimes i am actually surprised that they make money when the zater cost $1!! But don't take my word for it. If you are a morning person and you want some really good breakfast then go to Sipan, ask for the breakfast pizza and the falafel tacos, enjoy that with some real Mexican coca cola and end it with some Qatayef for deserts. Im gonna go with 4 stars for the moment because all I had was the Lahmajune. It was amaze-balls! It was fresh out of the oven. I called, ordered 30 pieces, and they made them, and packaged them in 30 min. They also gave me bags for storage so I can take them to SF! I will return and 5 star this place next week, when I try the rest of the menu. I really cant wait! read more

I tried almost all their manaeesh (Zaatar, muhammara, cheese, Spinach). It was just perfect!! It literally dissolved in my mouth. I strongly recommend everyone to try it. In addition, the price was good (1 -3$/each depending on the topping) and their service was very good too. read more

Came here to redeem a Groupon and ended up walking away with twice what I'd meant to get :) Their beoreks are pretty. Definitely teh spicy cheese is good. I was ok with the pomegranate beef. Haven't had a chance to try the other flavors yet. Their Armenian pizza is great. It's a mini pizza on a very flat thin bread. Delicious! They also gave me a sample of their falafel. I've never had good falafel before, so I was really amazed and excited. I think that is what falafel is supposed to taste like. Really good! And great service! read more

I'm so glad Yelp guided me to Sipan. It could easily go unnoticed but I guess filled outside seating might make you look twice. This was the first time trying the Zhatar sandwich wrap and I'm a big fan! The fresh baked wrap with the crushed olives had my mouth watering. Along with this I tried the falafel tacos, which again were freshly prepared served with tahini sauce. Soo good! The service was friendly and the cost is affordable. If you are in the area, give it a try! read more

Everything about this place is A+. Lets start with the location: easy access, located on glenoaks across the street from the dmv. Service: both of the guys working here are really cool & laid back. Its cool to socialize with whoevers making your food. Great service goes a long way and postive vibes make this spot that much better. Selection: a menu full of variety. I go with the lamaju's (armenian pizza) do yourself a favor try both the spicy & regular kind. or try the potato borek. Wash it down with a glass bottle coke. Amazing. Overall 10/10 spot. Very nice people and good food. BUT... the falafel sandwich I ordered came with too little bread and way too little hummus; the hummus was about half the amount I expected to come with a sandwich, thus it was too dry of a sandwich. The falafel itself was delicious however, and so was some of the other stuff I tried. If this place would be less stingy with the pita and hummus, I'd go back. i may give them one more shot. So to sum up: Food delicious; portion skimpy. read more

Hands down the best. Their food is amazing, everything is fresh and super delicious. The prices are great for the quality of the food. My favorites are the beef Shwarma wrap (juicy flavorful meat) and their zhatars (cheese, olive or plain = heaven). For people who vape...their flavors are great, very well done and don't burn like a lot of other ones around the same price. So far peach and strawberry are my favorites and my boyfriend loves their mint flavor. I just picked up several new flavors which I'm positive won't disappoint. The owner is super friendly and fun to talk with! He always makes the experience of going there great :) I recommend this place to everyone and everyone i know who has heard of them loves them! A dear friend who lives in the area brought us here and made some outstanding food recommendations. I have to say that this is some of the most authentic and flavorful food I had in Glendale, and I was really impressed. This place is small, and extremely local, but as someone who has not had a great deal of Armenian food, this was a great place to try. I understand there is another location, too... so that might be worth investigating as well. I'm not even going to pretend that I could order any of these meals again, as I do not know what they were called, nor do i know what/how they should be ordered, but hey, I was being treated to an experience by a friend. Instead, I will grab him and make him order for me again if I am in the area. I highly recommend giving this a try! read more

I'm giving this AMAZING place a 5 because so far everything I've had has been great!!!! First, the owner there is just so sweet...very friendly, he talks to you as if he's known you for years! ANDDDDDDD I was talking to another customer saying how I didn't know he makes falafel sandwiches and have been craving it...he brings me a half sandwich of falafels to try....and he said "I was listening to you and thought you'd enjoy this" OMG SOOOOO SWEEETTTTT... Second, the food is amazing...YES THE FALAFEL IS VERRRRRRYYYYY GOOD... very light and yummmmyyyyyy...their cheese (Mashrouha) sandwiches are sooo good tooooo..and their Armenian pizza.... They totally made my day today...I have always recommended that place to everyone...our Church always gets their lehmejouns from there....you will not be disappointed!!!! We got the Ajarski (gondola pizza with mushrooms, cheese, and one egg), the spinach breakfast pizza, and a zaatar and cheese maneish. I had previously come in 2014 before I lived in LA and had been craving their food ever since. It's very affordable, everything is fresh out of the oven, and delicious. The spinach breakfast pizza may have been my favorite, though the sauce on top is slightly spicy and I don't have much of a spice tolerance. The 10" version of the pizza is like 1.5 meals. The egg wasn't overdone on the akarski and was a good size for a breakfast. I also loved the zaatar and cheese combo on the maneish. We're definitely going to visit again! read more

While looking for random eats in Glendale, I found Sipan Bakery as it had a bright green "Yelp deal" icon right nexts to it. Being a fan of every and all pastries, I read the positive reviews and purchased the $15 for $10 yelp deal. Sipan bakery is unlike most other American & Asian bakeries in that their pastries are all very thin and flat, topped with middle eastern spices, sauces, and/or meats. In fact, most of them are vegetarian (maybe vegan too?) in nature, so this is a good place if you're a non-carnivore :) Honestly, I can barely pronounce, let alone spell the names of the patries that we ordered. (I actually didn't really order anything, someone else ordered everything for me). But I did try some of the 6 different patries we bought, and the best one was the meat one called a meat beork (I am biased as I crave meat). All of the patries that we tried were tasty enough, some better than others, but overall nothing that I would recommend against. Just go with an open mind and you should enjoy Sipan Bakery's goods (assuming you like yeast-derived foods ;) read more

Funny, friendly guys working there and since I went on a cold day, it was nice and warm waiting for my order near their giant oven. I think I ordered 1/2 of their menu so needless to say, I went way overboard. Wish I had eaten there but I had to take it home to the family to share. However, by the time I got home, the falafel wrap was already cold and a bit wilted so next time, I'm eating it there. Can't say it's the best falafel I've ever had since I didn't eat it fresh out of the fryer but it was very good. Got two of each of most of their boregs. After reheating it for a few minutes in the toaster oven, it was delicious. I liked both the tomato and red pepper lamajunes but not the one with the middle eastern spices/sesame. I guess I just don't have a pallet for those particular spices so we ended up throwing that one away. Those boregs re-toasted are so good. I don't care about the fillings as much, it's the bread that's yummy. Also definitely coming back for the falafel wrap and to try some more items on their menu. I'm very confident that trying it medium rare will likely improve the beef flavor. Overall a tasty burger regardless. However, the chicken pot pie my partner ordered was plated beautifully and had a wonderful puff pastry atop a very savory and delightfully seasoned filling. I definitely think it was a show stopper. I even asked Caroll to surprise me with a random dessert, and let me tell you, the Salted Caramel Apple Cheesecake is what dreams are made of. Very nicely sweet with a filling to knock your socks off. Oh the joys of new sights and smells. Cheers!

After a wonderful lunch date with my wife at Raffi's Place (please read my review and thank me later) in Glendale, I decided to look for the perfect dessert. After scouting several nearby locations, I decided I was in the mood for a great cinnamon roll. Sweet Demi Lune Bakery & Café looked like the place that would deliver the experience I was seeking. SDLBC is listed as being in Glendale, but it's located in the historic Old Town of Montrose. That's beside the point; I only mention it because there are additional places to explore just up the street. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday, and there wasn't much of a selection left, including the highly sought-after cinnamon roll. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us warmly, and I immediately asked if that was all the pastries they had. He said yes. I contemplated leaving because of the nonexistent cinnamon roll, but I didn't want to be rude, so I decided to give the bakery a try since we were already there. So, we basically took half of what remained behind the glass display case: a Peach Almond Croissant, a Raspberry Pistachio Croissant, an Almond Croissant, and then my curiosity focused on a few lonely-looking pastries that were unfamiliar to my discerning eyes. I asked the gentleman what they were, and he replied with something that sounded completely foreign to me: Kouign-Amann. Kouign-Amann (pronounced queen ah-MAHN) is a traditional pastry from the region of Brittany, France. It is often considered one of the richest pastries in the world because it is made with just a few simple ingredients in generous proportions: bread dough, butter, and sugar. Figuring we needed a few more sweets for the road, we took all the remaining Kouign-Amanns. Two were the traditional version, and the other two were filled with crème and blueberry jam. We also ordered a Café Americano and a Café Mocha. While we waited for our drinks, I simply couldn't wait any longer. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I eagerly opened my gift and dug right into the Kouign-Amann. Hesitantly, I tore off a tiny piece with my fingers, expecting nothing extraordinary, and instantly gave birth to a brand-new experience that exploded in my mouth. The crisp exterior gave way to the soft, flaky center, followed by waves of what tasted like delicate honey. I tore off another piece and shared it with my wife. One look at her eyes told me she wanted more. By the time our drinks were ready, we had devoured one of the Kouign-Amanns and confessed to the gentleman behind the counter that we had just experienced pure ecstasy in the form of a pastry. Kouign-Amann is, in fact, one of the richest pastries in the world, so don't let the unfamiliar name keep you from trying one. The Café Americano and the Café Mocha were also exceptionally well prepared. With everything that's happening in the world these days, a simple yet profound experience like this reminded me how wonderful life can still be. Like Arnold said... "I'll be back." Enjoy!

We watched him a few different times throughout our time there, to see how he was with the other tables. We came to the conclusion that he looked like a fish out of water. Maybe he was overwhelmed even though the restaurant was a little more than half full last night at 5:30. Then he brought us our check while we were still eating! I told him I wanted to order dessert. We stopped for a coffee and a treat and we were enchanted! The interior of the bakery is all soft blue and white. The display cases are filled with the most beautifully decorated cakes and cupcakes I have ever seen. I treated myself to the luxury of a pistachio macron and a cappuccino. Very decadent! It was a busy Saturday afternoon and customers were continually lining up at the counter. Since it was our first visit to the bakery, I was so absorbed in ogling the display case that I didn't realize that my coffee order had been filled and it was waiting for me at the far end of the counter and my server neglected to return to me to finish my order. But I'll know better next time. We sat at the counter by the front window to watch the passersby and noticed that a Parking Authority agent was very diligent about hopping out of his car and checking every car that parked in front of the bakery to hand out a ticket if anyone failed to purchase a voucher. So beware! I will definitely return to Sipan Bakery every chance that I get to visit my old neighborhood. read more

Have you ever explained to your barber or hair designer exactly how you'd like them to either cut or style your hair, yet they end up doing exactly what they want and nothing like what you ever even asked for.....? I've ordered from this place 3 times already, and each and every single time I have received a completely different order LOL. Not only did I specify what I wanted to eat, I also specified what I did not what in my meal, whatsoever. Yet, all 3 times I've ordered from here, I've received my food and it still contained food I asked not to receive and the rest of the order was completely different than what I asked for. However, I'm not rating this restaurant merely based on the faulty orders (only 1 star), I haven't had the chance to try to meat I actually wanted which was the beef lulu. If you prefer to order at the counter, you'll leave very pleased after you've gotten to know the father/son pair that run the place. They have a rich variety of tasty edibles and are not afraid to give their customers excellent service. I was impressed to say the least. Eat their Falafel once, and you'll never scour L.A. county for a better one again. Their Soujouk sandwich is superb, as are the variety of Boeregs (Meat or Veggie Pies). The worst service I've ever had anywhere from that tattooed guy that works in the front. We ordered arjarski khachapouri and they over cooked the eggs with no cheese . So disgusting I guess people never had real ajarski before that they think this place is good. He offered us everything but our money back because they have no business and need to keep as much money as they can possibly scam people into getting. We drove the food back to him , he looked at it and said he won't return money. Wow , how embarrassing to see a man act that way . i have been a big fan of this cafe and bakery since its new ownership arrived -- started by stopping in for some shakshuka, but then i could not help walk out with peanut butter babka, a donuty/cookie man, rugelach, etc. The baked goods should not be missed -- particularly that babka. I have been coming here for the last two years, not once did the food come out any less than extraordinary. Even for foods I don't like, they convinced me to try and I love their version(falafel). If you don't want to develop an addiction, this is not the place for you. Try their spicy cheese and spinach mashrouha it's friggen delicious. I'm having one now as we speak! I recently visited Sipan Bakery in Glendale and was blown away by their ajarski. Features a boat-shaped bread filled with a blend of feta and mozzarella cheeses, topped with two buttery eggs. LOVEEE this place! Always stopping by for a quick bite to eat and the other day I tried a new item on the menu called the Mexicano chicken sandwich and wow it was amazing! If you're in the area, this place is a must-visit! I tried the lajmajoo and za'atar bread -- both were amazing, fresh, and full of flavor. But the real standout? The za'atar wrap. My favorite is the mohamara with cheer mashru7a .... To die for and the falafel yuuummmmmmmm everything they make is good ! All my parties r catered by Sipan and all of my guests have been happy with the taste and variety .their food is kid and adult friendly which is a big plus ! The woman cashier who had on one glove took my money and prepared my meal with it on. Defeats the purpose and is unsanitary. Furthermore, even after I corrected her on my order when she read it back to me while paying, she still got it wrong. I was hungry so I didn't say anything. This place is overrated. read more

Great selection of baked delicacies which are made fresh right in front of you! The owners are very friendly and let you sample foods just as they come out of the oven. I highly recommend trying any of the Beorks (the spicy cheese is my favorite) or the Zhatar Mashroha.Absolutely delicious! read more

Really good flat breads. I really enjoyed the Vegan options that are offered at Sipan's. The service is amazing!!! It would be a 5 star, but I prefer a chewier bread, there's is more like a cracker bread. It's still good, just my preference. read more
