So that was incredibly embarrassing. I went for a massage and mentioned to the therapist as he was walking me to the room that I was feeling a little under the weather, not coughing but a little pressure in my sinuses. He then responded that he 'touches people for a living' and maybe I should not have come in. He also commented that by his 'manipulating' my muscles, I could end up feeling worse. I told him that was a risk I was willing to take, I wasn't coughing so I didn't think I was particularly contagious. However, I told him it was up to him if he would prefer I rescheduled. He then asked me to leave. With my tail between my legs, I returned to the locker room and got dressed. Made appointments a month in advance with friend coming in from out of town. Have been enjoying Sir Spa for 10+ years. Unfortunately the attendant for both the noon appointment and 1pm appointment never showed up. Both of us also had 2pm massages which took place but mine was halted by the therapist half way through as there was so much noise due to construction next door. He was able to get the workers to stop. At checkout was offered a meager 10% discount for the 2 hours of missed appointments and a completely unrelaxing massage due to noise. I got a Signature Massage as a gift from the wife and it was great. Good to know I don't have to travel downtown or to a resort to get a decent message and clean locker/steam/shower room. I had the best massage and evening at Sir Spa! Right after landing at ORD we headed here for an evening of relaxation. The locker room is spotless and well stocked, the lockers have very comfey robes in them waiting for you, and they even served a glass of wine while we were waiting for massages! Pretty good experience for a day-spa. The locker room is a little small, and the steam room isn't very steamy (it was actually a little cold, so you end up feeling kind of clammy), but it's clean. The facial and mani/pedi were excellent, but the massage was only so-so. The masseur didn't use enough pressure and didn't increase pressure when requested. The gal spent about 40 minutes scrapping the barnacles off my feet and prettying up my toes. She did not speak much at all just continued to work away. Although I don't treat myself to massages as much as I'd like to, I love to indulge and treat myself at least 3-4 times a year at Sir Spa, and I'm always happy with everything. Their staff is friendly, the waiting area is relaxing and comfortable and the locker/shower/steam rooms are extremely clean and well-maintained. Even though I prefer to relax and fall asleep during my massage, I had Lucas the last time I was there and was initially surprised at how much I enjoyed his massage, considering he hurt me a little bit with his "deep" knot-working. I couldn't believe how great I felt a few days later. The knots were gone, I had no sore back or neck aches (which is rare, considering I do hair effing up my back by standing on my feet all day) and I felt great! Although it's a little pricey after a $90 massage and $20 tip, treat yourself every now and then to a little luxurious pampering! read more

Nice place. Clean. The facial technician was super nice. The waiting room is tranquil and also clean. The spa area - steam room, showers and lockers were all clean. Clientele seemed to be polite without being overly cruise-y. Quality of the treatment was good but not particularly involved and seemed only somewhat customized. Sir Spa is OK. Unfortunately that's all it is, is OK. There was not anything about my experience that was an absolute deal breaker for a second visit. However, there is not a burning desire to return either. It is very clean and very modern. I'm not ashamed to say I'm a man who likes to take care of himself...I mean hey if I don't know one else will. So after hearing about SIR Spa I decided to check it out. I was excited to go to a spa that is geared towards men so I won't feel like a loser getting a hand/foot detail (that's what they like to call a manicure/pedicure). The technician, Marcia, was really nice and friendly. We had a good conversation going throughout my hand/foot detail. The areas I saw during my visit were clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and engaging from the moment I walked through the door. The only negatives were - When I left the spa I noticed that my nails (on my hand) weren't clipped/trimmed as neatly as you would expect from a professional - The cost for the hand/foot detail was $60, but since I had a coupon I paid $50. Well everyone and their mother told me how I was a fool for paying $50 when I could go to numerous places throughout the city and get the same services for about $30 - $40. I may try Sir Spa again, but if I get a hand/foot detail again you better believe I'll examine my nails thoroughly before I get up off that chair. read more

My partner and I just dropped about $230 there on Saturday for two facials and 2 "hand details" The good news, the staff was friendly, place was immaculate, the facials were great, albeit on the pricey side. We both appreciated the professionalism of our aestheticians. They recommended products but there was no high pressure sales job. We , in fact, did purchase a product BECAUSE they were not in our face... more of a trust factor than a used car salesmen pitch,and we appreciated that. The 'hand detailing' however, was just OK...nothing I could not get at one of the many nail salons on Argyle for a third of the price. The manicurists was sweet as pie mind you. But, my partner in particular was very disappointed in his and mentioned he could have done a better job. We would not recommend this service at all. Will we be back?...not sure to be honest. I've been here a few times over the years and it's the only thing like it in Chicago (that I know of). It's a great spa with plenty of amenities to make you feel comfortable. I came here for a body scrub long time ago, and I liked it here. The staff were friendly, asking if i need anything else, free drink and snack while waiting. I would give this place 3.5 stars if i could cause, . Too expensive for what you get. Like I said, I got a body scrub, and for what he did, it felt like I didnt receive enough even though they discribed what they are gonna do. For 75 dollars for scrub then told me to take a shower, and he moisterized me. I felt like i should have received a 15min back massage while he moisterize. Would i return? Maybe.. :P read more

The first time I went here I had an AWFUL therapist! I planned not to return. Yesterday I did the Chicago Triathalon and REALLY needed a massage. I was desperate and the gym I typically see was booked. I called and Sir Spa got me right in. James my massage therapist is THE BEST, and that's coming from me, a massage therapist! Best massage money you'll spend! If you are looking for a REAL deep tissue massage, this is the place. I've seen three different guys there, and I've never been disappointed. They apply really deep pressure if you want it, and don't tire out across 60, 90, or even 120 minutes. This place isn't cheap, but it's the best massage money I've ever spent. This is really 2 separate reviews - one for the "Foot Recovery" service I had this morning, and one for the 60-minue "SIR Customized Massage" I had immediately after. Review 1: Foot Recovery - 1 Star I could have gone across the street to any number of mani/pedi places and gotten much better service for cheaper. No foot massage, no parafin treatment (both promised in the descriptions). The manager covered 1/2 the cost, but that still left me paying $32.50 for a crappy pedicure. I will not use Sir Spa's services other than massage again. After reading recent good reviews, I decided to give SirSpa a try. I am a seasoned Spa goer, and have high expectations. I found the Spa to be clean, with well appointed lockers, a competent staff, and prices in line with the services. My therapist, Jeremy, was knowledgable, professional, and spoke well of the facility and other staff. As a business owner myself, I found his attitude refreshing. My Bf had a similar experience as well with Antonio, and happily used a gift certificate from friends. My only critique would be a more welcoming intake. We will be back. read more

I have been to many a massage parlor and SirSpa is by far the best. Their interior is extremely clean and finished with high end furnishings. Their staff at the front counter is professional, accommodating and doesn't push products on you. Several of their masseurs are amazing but my favorite by far is Bill! No matter how many 5K races I've done, tests I've studied for, beatings from bosses or 5 a.m. fist pumping nights at Hydrate, I know that I can come into SirSpa to get back to 100% for another race, test, beating or fist pumping to Retox the night away! Let me preface this review by saying that I am a complete neat freak and a stickler for cleanliness and good service. So far I have been to Sir Spa twice over the past few months for massage services and, on both occasions, have had a very good experience. The place is clean and inviting and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Markus, my massage therapist, has what can only be categorized as an amazing set of hands. He is a very skilled practitioner of massage and, on top of that, he is a truly nice guy who will make you feel comfortable and relaxed (5 stars for Markus). The facility itself gets 4 stars, but only because it's impossible for a smaller neighborhood place to compete with places like say...the Four Seasons. For a great all around experience though, I definitely recommend Sir Spa. read more

I go to a lot of places around chicago for massages. Sir Spa ranks pretty high. The staff are really nice, the massages have been good each time (although some of the staff doesn't really take into account your notes on pressure). The best parts are the relaxing waiting area and the locker room with the steam room and shower. Its nice to be able to wash off all of the massage lotions and oils. Its a nice and clean space. I had one masseuse twice and he was fantastic, the other I had was just okay - but overall I would recommend the place - although it is a little overpriced. read more

I don't know how to begin this review. I am not a word smith so, how do I describe Nirvana or Paradise? The whole time during my specific treatments, I was trying to figure out how I would write this review. I was trying to figure out how to yell it from the mountain top. Let me cut to the chase; it was amazing and WELL worth the money I spent.( don't hate me for using amazing a lot in this review) Now, I am like allot of people out there. I like to read a detailed review to get a 360 degree description of the experience before I purchase or try something out. I will try to do my best with this review. I considered myself a manly man and try to take care of myself. I buy nice things for myself occasionally. I know my girlfriend would not label me a metro-sexual; she does tease me because I am slow when I get dressed. Let me start my tale with a little back story. I have only had a mani and paddi one time before almost 8 years ago for a wedding. I have never had a facial. I have had many massages before. I would consider myself an expert on the" whole massage experience" and let me say, I was not disappointment. To all the people who have a MAN as a friend/brother/boyfriend/partner/significant other/lover/husband and you say you love them - you NEED to show your love by purchasing them a SIR gift card or SIR spa package. Ok, I have been praising SIR for all of this review. I would not be doing SIR any justice if I did not have some constructive feedback to provide. This will be the constructive feedback section of my review. The locker room seemed a little small, if there were more than 4 people in there at one time it would be cramped. But, SIR does a good job of "air traffic controlling" the number of people in there at one time. I did not know where to put my used robe or flip flops after my amazing experience. A sign would be nice to point people to the bin for used towels/robes. It could have been pointed out to me during the quick tour in the beginning but it's hard to remember stuff after an experience at SIR. After this whole experience I am truly spoiled now. I will never be the same and I will expect nothing less in life any farther. I had a four hour glimpse of how movie stars, drug warlords and royalty are treated. I looking forward to my next visit, but I am afraid. I am afraid it will not match or surpass this visit I had on Saturday, February 1, 2014. I highly recommend SIR! read more

I love having facials but a lot of people that do them won't do them for men or don't adjust the treatment for a male and I feel a lot more comfortable in an environment where the clients are men instead of mainly female0. As an acupuncturist, I've gotten to work with a large number of massage therapists of various styles over the years. The treatment that I had from James today is by far one of the best I have ever experienced. He perfectly utilizes deeper tissue techniques to target the stubborn problem areas, while still making the entire session amazingly relaxing. Totally worth the money. People complaining about the cost of services would probably complain regardless of the cost. The only thing that would make it better would be if they had a good in-house salon. I was in Chicago on business and had only a half day on Sunday available if I was going to seize the opportunity to do something other than work while I was there. I was completely drained and I had been in need of a haircut for about 3 weeks, so I figured I would treat myself to a good hair cut and a massage. Sir Spa does not have a hair salon, but the gentleman on the phone told me there was a nice place across the street (Robert Jeffery is the name of the salon). He calls me back a few minutes later and he has coordinated a hair appointment with my spa package. Score! There is a locker room on the premises. Three spacious shower rooms,a steam room and lockers with electronic combination locks. Obviously, they have everything you might need, from washcloths and robes to toothpaste and combs. First on tap was a 60 minute massage. Can't remember her name, but she was fantastic. She had strong hands and was intuitive about where I needed the most work. After the massage and a quick shower I felt completely rejuvenated. I crossed the street for my hair appointment then returned for my other spa services. The package deal I signed up for included a massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. Usually I don't go for the extras, but I wasn't disappointed. I returned home from my business trip looking and feeling like a new man, which my wife appreciated since normally it takes a day or two to get back to normal after being away. During my manicure/pedicure they offered me a beer and I watched a ball game while I relaxed. Perfect. I'll be back if I'm ever in Chicago again.
