When it came time to look for a new massage therapist, I was referred to Bill Underwood at Sir - who is amazing at unwinding all of those knots in my back, shoulders, and legs. The facility itself is great, and it's become a weekly destination for me as another "must have" part of my training. The Best Place in Town I have been going to Sir spa for a number of years and each time I go I feel the level of professionalism and comfort increasing. The atmosphere is great; you can tell that a lot of thought went into the design of each room. The services provided are fantastic and the staff is second to none. In particular, Tesha is incredible. I rarely go to spas. In my limited experience, Sir Spa is my favorite by far! The place is friendly, impeccably clean, and very relaxing. I've had a 60 minute signature massage and a hot stone massage. Both were like heaven! Arrive early and/or stay late to relax in the lounge or use the steam room or take a long shower. (The right-most shower has body sprays.) I enjoyed the free products in the bathroom -- the body lotion in particular has an intoxicating smell. Putting on my critic hat, Sir Spa lacks a dry sauna and a hot tub. Also, I think the prices may be a little high? However, they do email specials on a regular basis. Side notes: (1) I love the tiling and fixtures in the bathroom. Subway tile is my favorite! I want to remodel my bathroom after theirs. (2) You can book online, a feature I always enjoy. read more

My boyfriend called earlier this week to book a couples massage. We were confirmed for 11:15 today and he gave them his cc number to hold the reservation. When we went to check in, we were informed they had an appointment for me but not for him, even though my appointment did notate "couples." We were offered another 30 minute appointment at 12:30 and $10 to be taken off of this, while still being charged full price for the scheduled hour long. I understand that this was likely a one off, but it is unacceptable. We had a couples massage scheduled, yet only one of us was actually on the schedule. The person at the front desk was very kind and apologetic and that speaks for something, but my boyfriend and I were looking forward to a relaxing morning. Excellent spa experience! Extremely clean and modern yet with a very warm welcoming feel. Staff were excellent and John's massage was just what I needed. Finished off the experience with a manicure and pedicure by Jo. She was delightful, warm, very professional and an awesome nail tech! Nice locker room, high end wooden ĺockers with digital locks, individual showers with excellent water pressure and relaxing steam room (all extremely clean and well kept) robe, sandals, amenities, all you'd expect in a high-end Spa at reasonable prices. Went in Febuary of this year. Girlfriend bought me a package for v day. Nice relaxing trip on a freezing icy day. Massage was great. mani and pedi was also great. While changing to leave an employee was collecting robes. He stood there while changed which was awkward. I told him I would let him know when he could get it. He got the picture and left. Yesterday I had a hand and foot detail as well as a 60 minute massage and the entire experience was fantastic!! Annie does great work on your hands and feet and really knows how to help you enjoy the entire experience. Jim is a new massage therapist to the spa and is a great find. If your looking for a place to unwind and relax I recommend Sir Spa. I had my first (and definitely not my last) visit today and thought it was great. The staff was very nice and friendly and the facilities were very clean and well stocked. I had a 90 min sports massage by Jeremy and it was amazing. I relaxed in the stream room afterwards for a while and when I left I felt completely refreshed. If you like to pamper your self every now and then, I would suggest checking this place out. As a first timer I was really excited to try this place out, but the massage left me really disappointed. The therapist was polite but lacked skill and deep tissue ability. Massages are hit or miss, and this was a huge miss. Do yourself a favor and do your research. Some of the other guests (who were more helpful than the staff) told me to give the place a second chance with a different therapist. On the upside, the facility itself is nice with a plush locker room with steam room and showers. I plan to give them another chance, and I'll update this review, hopefully with a better experience. read more

After driving past Sir Spa a million times I decided to give it a try. After a long day, I called, and was able to get an appointment within an hour. I was greeted at the front desk immediately upon walking in by two warm smiling faces. After filling out a brief questionnaire, I was taken on a short tour of the spa, and then escorted to the stunning locker room facilities, given a plush robe, and slippers. After changing, I relaxed in a comfy chair and sipped on yummy tea while I waited for my massage therapist Derek to come out to get me. The massage was amazing!! Derek is the best. It's so nice to have a place in the city like this to retreat to. I am going to definitely make this a monthly visit. I had been paying the same amount for a sub-par massage....and zero atmosphere elsewhere. I'm so glad I discovered this place. read more

I am a retail manager that understands the service industry so I really hate writing these reviews, HOWEVER.... I first visited Sir Spa in Dec. 2018. I booked the apt 2-3 weeks in advance for a foot detail. Called twice to confirm the appointment, when I arrived the appointment they had made was for a message, they then were unable to book me for the service I wanted which was a foot detail. I then had to run around trying to get a pedicure that day because I was flying out of town that night. I understand things can happen even thought upset the manager apologized and reassured me that that mis hap was not the norm and he would make sure my next visit was excellent. So I did not write a review I left it at that. So gave them another opportunity to redeem themselves called in for a foot detail then called back to add on a hand detail. The manager remembered me and said "I remember you, we will upgrade your package to the Foot Recovery which includes Paraffin add on. Got to the spa today, the nail tech, Christian, was waiting for me, (he was very sweet). Anyway I ended up not getting the upgraded service, but funny enough they charged me for the service that I did not receive and walked away from a Spa more aggravated then I was when I walked in. The manager refunded the amount after I had to call in, and it was just a very poor experience. The tech actually seemed like they were getting ready for a "more important client" and I absolutely felt I received the brush off. I will not return read more

I've been going to Sir Spa since it first opened in Chicago and I can't begin to impress upon you what a great value it is. I've had multiple massage therapists, facial treatments, as well as a few mani-pedi treatments and I've NEVER been dissatisfied. The staff is friendly and attentive without crowding or trying to "sell you" - the atmosphere is calm and relaxing with great amenities and it couldn't be easier to book appointments with their online system or friendly staff over the phone. Today was my first time visiting SIR Spa and I could not be more thankful for my experience. After a long extended work trip, and my father passing away recently, my stress level was at an all time high. Since I a had a day in Chicago before flying back home, I looked up spas in the area to get a massage. Once I saw the website I knew this was the place I was looking for. I was able to call this morning and get a same day appointment for a 90 minute massage with a few extras added in. James was my masseur and provided one of the best massages I have ever received. In addition to being very professional and kind, he took his time to address every problem area and made the massage as a whole extremely relaxing. You can tell he takes pride in his craft and his customers are better for it. The reflexology and scalp massage add-on's were nice bonuses to cap off my massage. I spent time briefly enjoying the steam room and took a nice long waterfall shower before leaving. The locker room was clean and had everything you could need in terms of amenities. As I walked out I spoke with Daniel, the manager, once again. I told him if I lived here I would most definitely take advantage of their monthly membership. He, along with every staff member that I greeted, was extremely kind. Having spent my entire life working in the hospitality industry, I often am on the look out for great customer service, and they most certainly provided it. I look forward to visiting the spa again the next time I am in the city and will be forever grateful for an afternoon where I could take a much needed break and relax in style. read more

I really enjoy Sir Spa. Jo who handles foot detail is amazing and singlehandedly took care of an ingrown toe nail that was hurting. Her attention to detail is great, I highly recommend her. It is a bargain at $40 as she spends at least 45 minutes on your feet, not the 15 minutes at many of the pedicure places. Worth the visit and book well in advance! read more

So Im reading all of the negative reviews on here and it really is starting to scare me! Well I must say that I had an incredible experience at Sir Spa. The locker room, showers, etc were great. (I did lock myself out of my locker once and had to wander in the hall with my towel on - but don't tell nobody) I first had a mud wrap with Christina. She was awesome, the mud wrap just ok. What made it better was that Christina was so nice and gave me a mini-facial while waiting for the mud to do its thing. I will definitely go back and see her for further services. Following this I had a 60 minute massage from Christoph who has the most incredible man hands ever! I will HAVE to go back to see him and get a 90-minute. The best part is he is pretty muscular guy, so he has really strong hands and able to get in your muscles as far as he can. Overall I had a good time and will go back! Thanks Sir Spa! read more

I had a wonderful massage with James. He gives a fantastic full-body massage that is both relaxing and tailored to my specific needs. I also had a great "fresh face" treatment and hand and foot treatment. Everyone was absolutely lovely - kind, patient, relaxed, positive. This place just cancelled all gift certificates and pre-paid packages without notice. Don't trust them. Stay away!!!!

I received the following email from Sir Spa this weekend. Essentially the new management will not be honoring any gift certificates sold prior to April 1, 2011. The email came on Saturday morning and the new rule goes into effect on Monday. Just 2 days notice to use a gift certificate at a spa. Sir spa management: when you purchase a business you purchase all the liabilities including outstanding gift certificates. What horrible management and customer service. Definitely skip this place, they do not deserve anyone's hard earned money... Greetings All, As some of you may know, SIR Spa acquired new ownership on April 1st, 2011. With the new ownership we are proud to say that we have been able to extend our menu and offer services that we have never offered before, as well as improve our amenities and offerings during your spa visit. Another angry ex-customer here that got screwed over by these new clueless owners. One star is TOO high for a business that lacks ethics and good business sense. If they are this quick to rip you off over a $125 gift certificate that is less than a year old, then I can only imagine what other tricks dishonest business practices they will enforce. I encourage ANYBODY reading this to avoid Sir Spa at ALL costs! As a community I hope we can all join forces to get them out of our neighborhood. Sending out an email on 10/14 saying that previous gift certificates are not longer valid after 10/17 is not a good way to manage your most loyal customers. Like others, we too have been scorn by this place. I purchased a gift certificate for my partner for Valentines Day which he wasn't able to use due to a busy summer. We did not receive the infamous gift certificate email, instead I heard about it Saturday morning through another neighborhood news website. My partner immediately got on the phone and was luckily able to schedule an appointment for Sunday evening in order to retain the cost of the gift certificate. As he was scheduling his appointment, the person helping him asked for the certificate code to validate the amount. This makes me think that the new owners are not being entirely honest about not knowing the value of the outstanding gift certificates as they have some sort of database identifying the certificates. Immediately after he told the clerk that he didn't receive the email, he received the email, which we believe was to cover themselves in case we were to later claim that we never received it. Sunday came and my partner went to his appointment. He said the Asian clerk behind the counter was rude to him and snippy to this coworkers. He stated that though the massage he received was relaxing, it was nothing special and not worth the increase in price from the last time he was there. Thanks Sir Spa for making my Valentine's Day gift less than romantic. read more

Made an appointment using the online tools, replied "C" to confirm the day before my appointment, arrived for my appointment 30 minutes early. Was checked in my the person at the desk (he even updated my address in the system). I was waiting the seating area for appointments for 45 minutes (I thought they were running behind) only to find out from the new person at the front desk hat I was a "no show" and my appointment was cancelled. I did everything I was supposed to do and showed up early, then waited in the back (in a robe) for 45 minutes, but I was a no-show? The manager was supposed to call the next day and never did. Conduct like this makes it hard to support a local business; poor service and no follow up. read more

I went to Sir Spa today for a manicure and pedicure. Annie was fantastic and took her time and did a really good job. I highly recommend her and Sir Spa. At Sir Spa everything is by appointment and I was taken right away. When you get a pedicure you sit in a nice comfortable leather chair and it is so nice that there are not a bunch of women standing around. Mind you I am straight but I do not appreciate a bunch of women standing around me when I am getting a manicure and pedicure. Also, you do not have that awful smell that most manicure/pedicure places have. It is clean and I was offered wine or water. I will be coming there very month. I wanted to use my Sir Spa gift certificate for a massage so I checked on yelp first to find some in-house recommendations on their masseurs. I discovered the debacle regarding the gift certificates, and sure enough, when I called to make my appointment, I learned that my gift certificate will only be honored at 50% of face value. What a stupid move by these new owners. With a bevy of day spas in Chicago, I will most certainly never visit here again. I've been to Sir Spa several times over the past years and have also purchased numerous gift certificates for friends and family members. The new owners might have "saved" $125 by not honoring the full value of my certificate, but they've also lost hundreds of dollars in future appointments and services from me. I bet the folks at Spacio and the like are plenty happy about Sir Spa's blunder! read more

Made an appointment in person as a first-time client for a service (a brow wax with a designated esthetician), received a text message the next day listing my appointment and asking me to reply "C" to confirm (which I did and received a follow-up response), and arrived for my appointment and informed it had been cancelled (with no explanation or attempt to contact me in advance) and that the esthetician was currently providing service to another client. Not a great impression for a first-time client who has no history with your establishment, so I left without booking another appointment. I had expected to purchase massage services for a future visit, as well as to schedule my next brow wax, but I will attempt to find another provider with reliable service. read more

Sir Spa is under new management and it is a decided turn for the worse in my opinion. The massage is still excellent, but the facilities are worn down and need some cleaning. There was mildew in the showers. The soap dispensers have been replaced with cheap gas station style plastic pumps that exude cheap foam. The tiles in the steam room are cracking and falling off the wall. It's just not the kind of luxurious experience that I had come to expect. read more

My partner and I used to enjoy going to Sir spa. Lately, we've noticed a high turnover in staff. A lot of the therapists we normally go to are no longer there or they tell us they're not available. The quality of the employees has also gone down. Massage services used to be great, but I recently booked a deep tissue massage and got what could be best described as a body rub. It seemed like the therapist didn't know how to go deep, even when I asked. Maybe he was just tired or possibly inexperienced. The treatment rooms used to be impeccably neat, but on his last visit, my partner noticed pink wax on the floor and walls. You would think a SPA would care about cleanliness, but even the manager looks like he just rolled out of bed, someone needs to give him a comb for his hair! I came here with a friend to get a foot detail. We got in out robes and squeesed into the slippers and I looked at my buddy and the sole was coming off of his? We'll bring our own next time. I was up first and the water was already bubbling when I put my feet in there. Yikes! It wasn't even warm? Not to be rude, but that should be standard issue. I have been to Sir Spa several times and overall enjoy it. The service and massages from my experience are consistent. Arriving, the front area can be hit or miss, but I usually have good luck. The desk people are generally nice. Locker room, it is a bit tight. Overall this isn't a big space so don't expect The Banyan Tree experience. The lockers are good size, and you get a robe and slippers. I tried the steam room and although small it met my needs. I was lucky and there wasn't another person around. More than two in that steam room, and it is crowded. The selection of products on the locker room has reduced significantly. There used to be tons of goodies to sample, but now, it is just one of each basically. Showers are good, lots of different body spray things if you are really into that. The massage, it was great! It started promptly, and we had a discussion about any issues or problem areas. I am a runner and like most folks have tight glutes. Finding a somebody that will actually massage the glutes well can be hard, but this was on the money. I got the signature massage, so overall very relaxing and the pressure was just right. Overall a great experience, the only drawback is the noise. At times I think the staff thought they were flight attendants. They kept slamming lockers and doors, just like a great flight attendant can do. The noise was a bit of a disruption, but nothing I couldn't tune out. read more

I am not sure what's going on with this place. It used to be a great spa , but it keeps going down with the service. Massage wise , it is ok (not great though) except for Bill , he is the best. Cleanness is back and forth , good and bad.. One never can tell when it's gonna be ok or when it's not. Towels are grayish dirty colored now , not white anymore , and smells milduy if not wet (where they are already on the rack in the lockers room supposedly clean and dry) . Robes are all milduy smelly and also feels wet sometimes. I went back after I got some offer online through an e mail. And I regret it now. I would have pay full price for a great service where one at least expect a clean dry towel. NEVER again. read more

Went to Sir Spa with my partner for his birthday. I thought the place was beautiful. Clean, nice facilities. Loved the steam room. The first time I had a massage was so-so, but I thought I'd give it another try. the second massage was much better, and the facial was nice, too. Made appointments a month in advance with friend coming in from out of town. Have been enjoying Sir Spa for 10+ years. Unfortunately the attendant for both the noon appointment and 1pm appointment never showed up. Both of us also had 2pm massages which took place but mine was halted by the therapist half way through as there was so much noise due to construction next door. He was able to get the workers to stop. At checkout was offered a meager 10% discount for the 2 hours of missed appointments and a completely unrelaxing massage due to noise. Apparently Dave the manager goes not understand the concept of exceptional customer service. read more
