I appreciated that even without a reservation, the hostess was able to accommodate our party of 5 and seat us without having us wait. The food we ordered here was very delicious! This was my parents' first time trying French cuisine. We shared the strip steak, lamb chops, seafood paella, and mussels. Our favorite was the seafood paella. It was done really well, and we had a generous serving of seafood in this dish. All this being said, what none of us liked was the service. The only times we ever saw our server were when she brought us water at the start of our meal and took our order. Outside of that, we were NOT attended to during our meal. No check-ins on how we liked the food, if we needed more water, or if we were ready for the check. I ended up having to stand up from our table and grab another waiter's attention for basic service. I went here for Valentine's Day. Loved the waiter's personality and the decorations were so cute. There were balloons, teddy bears, and a woman was taking pictures for customers. To avoid going into too much detail, I'll say they were all enjoyable, but my personal favorites were the Club 223 and Volare, both of which were fantastic. Moving on to appetizers, we began with the Steak Tartare, which came with capers, cornichons, shallots, parsley, and a quail egg. The presentation was impressive, and the texture and flavors were a hit with everyone at the table. This was by far one of the standout dishes of the night. Next, we had the Confit de Canard, a duck dish served with Arcadian greens, figs, walnuts, cherry tomatoes, and fingerling potatoes. While my friend who ordered it loved it, I wasn't a fan, duck just doesn't suit my palate. Finally, the Beignets de Crabe (pan-seared crab cakes) with chipotle mayo, they were meaty and flavorful, with chunks of crab that paired well with the spicy mayo. For entrees, I ordered the Bavette à L'échalote (a grilled skirt steak) with shallot sauce, mixed greens, and fries. I made reservations for 2 to celebrate my fiance's birthday (and made a note of this online in the booking). The inside of the restaurant had a nice boho feel and we were excited to enjoy our meal. We started with the French onion soup and crab cakes. I enjoyed my soup and my fiancé liked the crab cakes. For our entrees, I had the duck and he had the butcher's cut steak and fries. I was very displeased with my duck dish. The duck was soft/borderline soggy which is very unusual for a duck dish considering the skin is normally crispy. It was served in an orange sauce that was way too sweet and overpowered the dish. It also came with peaches which did not work at all, one lonely piece of bok choy, and mashed potatoes that tasted like they came from a box. This was probably the most unpleasant meal I had in a very long time. My fiancé's steak was okay but didn't seem to be anything more than a cheap supermarket steak. We ended the night with dessert and I was hoping our server would've put a candle in the dessert or made some other gesture for my fiancé's birthday but that did not happen. This is the first time that I've been to a restaurant where they did not acknowledge a birthday despite it being noted on the reservation. It honestly ruined an already bad meal. Had brunch here last weekend and it was delicious! They have tasty French cuisine with some really unique dishes. I ordered the Toast au Crabe and it was super filling; toast packed with fresh crab meat, seaweed salad, scrambled eggs, and salmon roe! My husband said his steak and eggs were also great. He shared his fries with me and like a few other reviews point out, they taste very similar to McDonald's fries (in a good way, salty and perfectly crisp)! My friend and I went to La Bohème on a Friday evening around 7:30pm. It was the end of the dinner rush, so I would recommend making a reservation during peak dining hours. Also, it was extremely dark and loud in the restaurant, which definitely does not go with the upscale vibes. Fortunately, my friend and I were seated toward the door and we both speak loudly, but I would not recommend going at a busy time if you require a more intimate setting. A minor note that their bathrooms were a bit dingy and did not match an upscale vibe at all. We both got the salmon special ($29), which is pretty much their salmon entree, but instead of mashed potatoes, the potatoes are encrusting the salmon. I was wowed by the flavors of the dish. My one critique would be that the salmon could've used a touch more moisture, but it was very close to perfection. I didn't enjoy the saffron sauce, but the veggies and the salmon were flavored so well, I didn't need to use the sauce. I liked the lighter feeling of the potato preparation, and each bite was very balanced! Service was outstanding. The host did many check-backs, and we always felt like we were being attended to. This most recent visit we found a dead bee mixed into the ravioli. The waiter suggested that maybe the bee just flew in while in the restaurant and died. Either way, when a bug is found in your meal while you are eating it, they should sent the manager to rectify the situation and comp some items on the bill. We asked for that and they only took off the ravioli - bare minimum. We were not offered a replacement for the meal. The food is usually good here but the service is extremely poor. read more

But as soon as I spotted a brick oven pizza by the bar, I knew we had to try one of their creations. Service was attentive and lovely from start to finish. The decor is old-school Hollywood with a European vibe. I rarely ever order burgers but when I spot one where I can have it medium rare, I always go for it. The brioche bun was so soft and the beef was perfectly cooked. It was MOUTHWATERING delish!! We also got the Mushroom Flatbread and OMG, I'm still thinking about it. This was my first time having pizza at a French establishment. I read one review where this person had one with fruit toppings. I would totally try it had it been offered on the menu. We shared a few things-- Jardinière Pizza: 3/5 the crust was great and I loved how cheesy it was but missed the eggplant, zucchini, and arugula (see photo) it has spring mix instead, green peppers, and artichokes. If you like pizza with a decent amount of tomato sauce - this isn't it. Frittata of the day (mushroom, goat cheese, spinach): 4/5 it was definitely the favorite of the day. It's was nicely cooked and full of fresh flavor. Croque Madame: 3/5 it was ok but I wasn't blown away. The fries and salad served with it, I liked more than the actual sandwich, it just missed the mark for me. Reservations are available for brunch (weekends) and dinner on Resy. -FOOD- I ordered the Boeuf & Oeufs - a protein punched dish consisting of steak and eggs...but a relatively healthier version of steak frites with their sprinkle of greens. This is a wonderful spot that needs more recognition in Hoboken! Located a few blocks away from Washington St. it's tucked away from chaos of the rest of the town and is adorable both on the outside and inside. They make their flatbreads (which are so delicious) in a pizza oven. Their drinks were also super tasty and made well. I sat in front of it at the bar which made my night extra warm and cozy. To start, this place is closer to a 2.5 than a 3 when it comes to the food. Why? When you spend close to $200 for a 3-course meal and try different dishes, you expect something to taste fresh or well-prepared or memorable (in a good way). After all, the French are known for their cuisine. The concept of the dishes is good, but the ingredients taste frozen, overcooked, or reheated. DO NOT COME HERE, especially if you are a single gal or small group of women wanting to sit at the bar. The TLDR version is that you will be hit on by the owner (your origin doesnt excuse you from behaving in a manner which is not welcomed for those thinking, well he's from France!), hit on by men the owner sends over to you, or hit on by patrons at the bar who are encouraged to do it (yes 3 different times this happened). You will also be given wine from the bartenders or the owner and then they will charge you for it, even if you have said no thank you, they insist, you think then oh well its a comp, but nope (this happened 2 times). If you check my reviews you will see that I've never written anything like this before so I hope you readers take this to heart. This all started a year ago and I have tried to re-visit to get a benefit of the doubt (and also refrained from reviewing) since it was just one person back then that upset me like this, but this type of experience continues, and happened again last week, I am no longer holding back. HERE IS THE LONGER EXPLANATION OF LAST WEEKS VISIT: I had tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt and didn't want to taint the reputation despite how rocky the service was for 6-8 months after opening (forgotten orders, serving apps and dinner at the same time, taking over an hour to bring out an app) so I went back a few times before formulating my review. After the incident with the manager last year I took some time away from visiting and went to other places in the area. However, last week, I had 2 girlfriends in town so I decided to give it another go. Our visit started off lovely. We ordered 1 glass of wine each and a cheese plate and made it clear that's all we wanted. When the bartender (and might be part of the management team as I have seen him there many times) checked on us and asked if we wanted more wine, we said we were done and no thank you. He insisted and said it was from him. So we thanked him, he poured and we drank. We then wanted the check but he instead came out with more wine. We said no thank you and despite he poured more into our glasses (mind you one my of my friends glass was full still so now it was up to the top of the glass). When we finally got the bill and I was furious to see he had charged us for the wine he supposedly gave us. After what happened to me the previous year (see below) I told him this was not acceptable and this wasn't the first time they have done this to me. After he saw how angry I was, he took it off. He apologized and said it was a mistake, but I feel that this was only because he saw how angry I was. We were literally the only people at the bar and there was 1 table of people outside, so claiming it was a mistake was peculiar to me. WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR About a year ago the owner came up to me while I was sitting alone at the bar and pulled up a chair very close to me and was making me uncomfortable. I was polite and chatted but made sure I was clear with my body language. While this was happening a glass of wine appeared while I wasn't looking by my food. I asked the owner where it came from and he said it was from him. When I explained I didn't order it, he said no it's from me. At some point he asked if I liked a guy who was across the bar (his friend) and I said no. He later sent him over anyway and the man proceeded to come over and then ask if he could take photos of me. I said no and then turned away from him. The owner sat back down and continued to talk to me and when he finally got the hint that I wasn't interested he finally went to chat with other women. To my surprise when I got my bill the second glass of wine that was supposedly from him was on there! I said something to the bartender about it, sharing that I did not order it and was given it, she replied: well I saw you drinking it so its on your bill! I politely asked her to confirm with the owner that he sent it to me as a comp and to have it take off my bill. She disappeared for about 10 mins and when she came back she said no, the owner said the bill was correct. So basically it appears that because I didn't flirt back he changed his mind and decided to have me pay for the wine. IN CONCLUSION Honestly I don't care if the food is good, ambiance is swanky, and others are decent workers, I will never step foot in this place again. And I hope you don't either. First of all, I have to say that I think I would probably give 4 stars if I sat outside. The food and the service deserve a 4 stars, but I have to take one star off because we sat indoors and it's really not the best dining experience. Pros: 1. service, service, service. Our waiter is very sweet and super friendly. The other staff that brought our food to table is also very friendly. 2. The menu has lots variety, when the restaurant positions itself as French restaurant, it actually is more like Mediterranean cuisines. I was surprised ( and a bit confused) to see they have Lamb Kabobs and Seafood Paella on the menu, which is not the food that you would expect to see in a French restaurant. Cons: 1. The music they played is really really loud. It almost feels like that we were in a club and it's impossible to hear my friend talk. We had to shout or we couldn't hear a word each other is saying. Table was not ready when we got there but they were very kind and efficient making it work for us. The espresso martini (without baileys - extra points to the waiter for making it a point of asking) was really good. I shared the branzino and burrata salad with a friend. Plenty of food and both were so good. The burrata salad was fresh and the branzino was tasty and cooked just right. Black and white prints line the wall and a fire from the domed brick-oven welcomes you past the sexy curve of the wooden stool-lined bar. Having just spent a night out, I skipped the drinks, but my friend's Bloody Mary looked delicious and fresh. The coffee tastes as though it's been brewed in an Italian espresso stovetop Moka pot. It has the slow brewed quality that had me ordering cup after cup, hold the crème and the sugar. Our waiter was attentive through our 2+ hour brunch. We chose to dine French style and people watch as the time passed by. The first dish out was the margarita pizza which we were instructed to drizzle with a little olive oil. The basil was outstanding as was the quality of the crust. This served as a nice appetizer for 4, but you could easily have this as a meal split for 2. I ordered the classic French breakfast, which came with a perfectly buttered flaky croissant, butter, raspberry jam, and a demi-baguette. The baguette has the classic crunch and crevices, but the croissant stole the show. I wish they served half the amount of bread with a soft boiled egg for the classic oeuf à la coque. Two at our table ordered the skirt steak both prepared to temperature and plated with a substantial salad and a vegetable side. The wine menu was extensive, but this morning I opted for the caffeine. Our brunch began around 2. We had made a reservation and were quickly seated. We watched the turnover from brunch to dinner. The tables were elegantly dressed with a simple purple-vine flower in a vase. Madeline Peyroux songs filled the space, tempting you to sing along. I went back to La Boheme for dinner this past Friday night; during my first visit I only came for drinks. Our reservation was for 8 pm - the hostess tried to sit us at the first table by the front door but my friend was able to have her seat us at an open table in the back. It was below 0 degrees that night and we did not want to be right in front of the door. Sadly, it wasn't any better in the back of the restaurant. It was freezing throughout the venue - diners were wearing their gloves and hats. The waitress said the heat was set at 100 - clearly a sign it wasn't working properly. I'm becoming more and more like my parents these days and complained to my friend the music was too loud and it was too dark to read the menu. Service was so/so throughout the meal. Had to get folks attention a couple times to order and get water refills. For food, we each ordered the butternut squash soup to start - we needed something to warm us up. The soup was pretty good, had a little kick to it. Then we shared the Jardiniere flatbread pizza and mushroom risotto. With the pizza, I requested the arugula to be on the side since I hate when a pizza is overwhelmed by it. Instead, the pizza came out with lettuce on it - not arugula though -it looked like a spring mix. There didn't seem to be many vegetables either -maybe that's why they were using the lettuce to hide it. The risotto was the stand out of the meal - very tasty and came out nice and warm. I also enjoyed their take on an Espresso Martini - it had pumpkin puree in it which made it more sweet than your typical espresso martini. While we were dining, we noticed there was a drunk older man fluctuating throughout the venue - sitting at a table, then the bar, then harassing diners at their tables. The staff was pretty laissez-faire on the matter - rather than kick him out completely, they just sat him back at an empty bar stool. Luckily it didn't seem too crowded that night - there were some open tables and plenty of bar seats while we were there. My takeaway from the dinner experience is that the food is average - I am better off just coming for cocktails, probably on a night when it's not freezing out. read more

I wanted to love it and was excited to go but while the service, music, and wines were outstanding, the entrees were terrible. I ordered one of the two steaks on the menu - the higher priced strip ($38 was not a bad price for this cut either!) unfortunately I was served a very tough, stringy skirt steak in an extremely vinegary sauce. My friends lamb was tough too and smothered in the same vinegary gravy. I think this place is good for drinks and apps with friends. read more
