    Sistas' Kitchen -- storefront

The BEST BEST BEST!!!!! 11 out of 10!!!! It was bittersweet to find Sistas' on my last day in the area, after being there a full month, because I would have visited them tons of times had I known about them sooner. BUT they will be the first place I visit when I go back! They have such delicious food! I have to complain that Yelp did not prompt me with this business, and it was more commercially prominent, obvious places that always came up in my searches for local food. That's disappointing, especially considering this was hands down better than any of the places Yelp recommended, AND has stellar ratings. So I hope this small biz gets noticed and promoted to people because it is so much more worthy than the crap I was directed to in my Yelp search! Sistas' is in an ordinary stripmall, but their sign is clear, and at the time I was there (March 2021, during COVID pandemic), they were allowing takeout and dine-in. They have a buffet lunch that allows people to pile plates with HUGE servings, so that would be fun when the pandemic ends. But I will say that the amount of food they packed into my takeout container was crazy, and despite it being huge, I ate it all because it was so delicious! My son went nuts for all of it, which is rare for a picky toddler, and man, I was loving every bite! The first thing that I love about this place is that peach cobbler is a SIDE. It's not a dessert, it's a SIDE. Omg! Southern decadence! They have a selection of standard southern sides, mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, collards, okra, gravy-smothered limas, green beans, etc. They change the menu sometimes with the meats/entrees, but I think they always have fried chicken. It was the best fried chicken I ever had. I have to say I went to the South to experience some good BBQ and some good fried chicken, and I was disappointed at most of the places I visited. Sistas' WILL NOT DISAPPOINT on anything and will stand out in your life's memories of top fried chicken experiences! Juicy yet crispy, fried yet not oily, full of flavor, just extremely good! The mashed potatoes were perfect and their beef gravy looked canned but tasted amazing. The cobbler was perfectly peachy, with the right tartness of the peach and balance of sugar. My kid would eat that all day if allowed. The limas, oooh, they were heaven! Perfect texture on the beans, and chicken drippings gravy was fresh and insane good. The mac-n-cheese was real cheese, no "sauce" and was nicely baked, not a noodle-cheese soup. Collards were great. They give you a choice of bread, and the buns were more of a sourdough-ish kind of taste which I wasn't expecting but they were totally fresh, perfectly baked, and great for what they were, just unexpected for what breads normally go with southern food. They have excellent cornbread too! Everything made with soul and love! I ate my lunch outside in the car, and it was so good, I went back in for dinner to take home. I RAVED to the server, and she was so gracious and sweet. She looked over at the kitchen and I saw a young man look over his shoulder out at me gushing my head off about how good their food was, and I got a smile from him (under his mask but I could tell it was a smile by his eyes), which made me so happy to compliment the chef! I explained I had to go home the next day but I would be back as soon as I hit GA again, and I was grateful to have found them even if the last day. She filled another takeout order with delicious food, and was so careful to get everything I wanted, and place it all perfectly in the containers. I could not believe how inexpensive it was, about $20 for two huge meals, a value not just because it is a TON of food, but for the quality they offer, it is on par with the best southern on nearby Jekyll (Driftwood Bistro or Love Shack), as well as on Saint Simons (Porch or Fiddlers). and any other more prominent places we visited. This food is seriously fabulous and really deserves to be showcased! The staff is so friendly, and takes major pride in what they do. The food service was very clean, and every employee was wearing a mask. I could not have asked for more, in fact, I tipped 50% of my bill because they simply aren't charging enough for their food. AND I regretted not just doubling what they asked me to pay, and then tipping on top of that, because that would have been a FAIR price for this stuff. Just the most amazing food I had in my mouth in a long time, and definitely the best over my whole month in GA and FL (and all the places I stopped to and from Philly, along the way). God, I wish they were closer; I am craving more right now! Love you, Sistas'! Can't wait to go back!!!

Nothing short of incredible. This is an all you can eat buffet filled with many wonderful items but this review is about the fried chicken. Holy Goodness--this is fried chicken like Grandma used to serve us for Sunday lunch after Church. Not greasy but fresh and perfectly prepared. The cornbread was was good I had it for dessert. I found the two servers to be extremely pleasant and helpful. Not fine dining but some mighty fine food!

Good Lord. This is one of those spots that is a neighborhood secret/hidden gem. For $9.63/person from 11 AM to 3 PM (as of March 15, 2019) you get to eat the lunch buffet with all the soul food your heart and stomach desires. As you can see in the pictures I fixed up my plates with smothered pork chops, fried chicken, mac and cheese, cabbage, greens, okra/tomatoes, black eyed peas, and cornbread. The pork chop was soft and flavorful. The chicken was hot, crunchy and juicy. All the greens were great. Mac and Cheese was great. EVERYTHING WAS DARN TASTY. You absolutely have to try this place. Hands down, absolutely the best soul food/southern meal that I had while in Brunswick. Decor: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5

Love that they honor our service members.

This is a great value if you are a big eater and care more about quantity versus quality and taste…read more However my wife is a very small eater and I don't eat as much as I used to so the value for us wasn't as great. With the mixed reviews, we knew were were in for a great meal or a bad one, we were not expecting anything in between. It clearly leaned toward the later. The cleanliness of the dishes were hit in miss. You could pick up a plate or fork and it would have dried food on and so you go get another. The restaurant itself is very large and looks really nice. We were very happy with the service provided to us. The best thing on the menu was the fried pork chop, fried chicken, and mashed potatoes. OK as long as she's had plenty of sauce, but I didn't see the fried ribs they were talking about that I was looking forward to trying. The fried shrimp was popcorn shrimp and wasn't great and they didn't offer fish this night or at least we didn't see it. Most if not all the vegetables were cold and had little flavor. The worst dish by far was the fried Okra. One bite and I was done From the dessert bar I enjoyed the banana pudding and had two helpings. The wife thought the pecan pie was pretty good. She absolutely hated the lemon meringue pie which was grainy in texture an overly sweet. And both of us thought the coconut cream pie was not good at all. Again if you're a big eater and you like quantity and lots of options, this place is perfect for you but for us it's not a good deal.

AMBIANCE: 3/5 I think it's just basic buffet, nothing super…read morefancy and not sad looking. Maybe a bit outdated but we're here for the food! There were lots of booths, tables and private dining areas (?) There were some areas separated from the main dining area. There's one area that was the furthest away from the food behind the check out counter. The layout was kind of weird. I say this because the restaurant is called, "golden hibachi buffet" and we didn't see the hibachi or sushi counter until we were leaving. The hibachi/sushi area is in front of the check out. It was our first time there, so when we walked in and was immediately seated in the main dining area, we only saw the buffet area and completely missed the hibachi/sushi area. Now that we know where it is it makes us wonder how we didn't see that, but because of where we were seated, we did not notice it. I wish they kinda pointed it out to us when we walked in. Like, "been here before? Hibachi over there, buffet over here" woulda helped us a lot lol FOOD: 3/5 Not gonna lie the food was decently good and they had quite the selection. They had various choices of seafood (steamed, baked and deep fried selections), favorite chinese dishes like noodles, dumplings and egg drop soup, chicken, a nice spread of desserts, ice cream, build your own hibachi noodles and nigiri/roll sushi. Once a dish ran out, it was replaced at a reasonable time. I am a big seafood fan so I enjoyed the crawfish (seasoned very well), the baked crab shell and some of the shrimps (there were a few different types!). I think the deep fried crab was a hit or miss, some were so good but some were overcooked and became a bit dry but still flavorful and delicious! SERVICE: 3/5 When we first walked in we were immediately greeted by the friendly host (older gentleman) who seated us and a separate family at the same time. Our server took a very long while to come and bring us our drinks..like we already had our first plates and began eating. He did come and ask us if we want more drinks when our cups were 90% full. Lol...like i haven't even gotten halfway yet on this cup lol it wasn't super amazing, but it also wasn't super terrible. Leaving, however, was a different story. We were waiting to pay our tab and the middle aged gentleman at the counter motioned with a head nod for us to come to the other side to pay. He didn't smile or look us in the face at all, never once said thank you. We said "thank you" again as we were leaving and he didn't budge or say anything. It's as if we were bothering him as he was listening to whatever on his ear pods..made us feel so weird as we were leaving PRICING: 5/5 We paid about $40 for two including 2 drinks. I'd say that's an insane deal considering you can literally eat as much as you want. Bathrooms were large, had 3-4 stalls and were kept clean. RECOMMEND: Overall, yes.
