In the middle of Hillcrest you'll find Sisters Pizza, a place for everyone serving food for everyone. Not just meats, but vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options as well. Not just pizza, but pasta, sandwiches, and salads as well. Not just indoor seating, but outdoor, frozen, and to-go options as well. Our table was served with a smile as they handed over our Uncle Jesse pizza and garlic knots. The garlic knots were slightly dry with only a small cup of marinara sauce to save it. The pizza was oily, but tasted fine. The flimsy paper plates they gave us bent under the pressure. For what it is, there's nothing to complain about, but there's also nothing super memorable either. This pizza is within the deepest zone of everyone's comfort zones. The only thing that felt uncomfortable was my wallet. But it seems like this is a community staple. Great for families, or even stopping here on your lunch break. I would only come back for convenience sake. Also have to pay for street parking as well... Thanks for the memories!
Cruising through downtown San Diego on a sunny Monday afternoon, we found Sister's Pizza and stopped in for lunch. The first things that stuck out on the menu weren't the pizzas, but the Summer Salad, the Spaghetti & Meatballs and "Cap'n Trevor's Monday Fish Fry (Mondays only unless otherwise noted)." Being Monday, we had to get the fish fry, of course. We also got several pies and an order of Spaghetti. The fish fry was 3 pieces of crispy battered cod with house-cut fries and it hit the spot - something about those fries still has me thinking about it. The Spaghetti & (two gigantic) Meatballs was a hit, especially with the kids, and the pizza pies went very quickly. Sister's is a great little find in San Diego - a nice space with good food, friendly staff and lots of character. Definitely coming back again when I can!
So my previous review was actually Little Sister's. MY B ANYWAY.. lovely pizza good price and good customer service. We got the medium pepperoni pizza pie and the size of the pizza was A LOT. Plenty of parking on a Friday night. Plenty of seating. We will be back!! And I hope to try more toppings and such!
So mad at myself for not coming here sooner since I live so close!!! Everything about this spot is LOVELY. They have a cute dog friendly patio with a good amount of seating & great vibes overall. Ample amount of meter street parking to find nearby as well. The chickie chickie parm pizza was delicious 10/10, with thin crust and a great ratio of cheese, sauce and toppings. Excited to come back to try another pizza. Just beer and wine with decent selections, and friendly staff despite being busy :) they gave free ranch with the pizza as well as banana peppers/pepperocinis, pepper flakes and parm per the usual. Just a really cozy place!
Head to Sisters for New York Style Pizza in San Diego! Not only does Sisters serve fresh NY style and vibe is reminiscent to a neighborhood corner restaurant you might find on the East Coast. The staff is upbeat, friendly and you get the feeling it's a go-to dinner hangout for locals in the area. My wife and I came here for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. We split the Sisters salad as an appetizer which I highly recommend (don't feel weird ordering a salad with edamame. The flavors work!) The meatball with marinara was another highlight. It reminded me of the meatballs I grew up on back east. Then last, but certainly not least, my wife tried a slice of the Veggie Pizza and I'll just say there's a reason that one goes fast. So, if you're in the neighborhood head to Sister's for dinner or grab a slice to go. I'll definitely be back!
Good variety of slices and flavors. Love this neighborhood pizza place. They serve pizza by the slice, full pies, salads, garlic knots, desserts-- something for everyone! You order at the counter and they bring your order to you. They have mostly outdoor seating and some indoor tables. I've only had the pizza slices and they are delicious! Sisters Pizza seems like a great spot that serves the surrounding community. Parking is street parking and can be very difficult with a mix of metered and neighborhood parallel parking spots.
It's a quick-serve place with a nice outdoor seating area. The pepperoni slice I got was dry, too salty, and the tomato sauce was so light that if my eyes were closed I'd guess there was none. Buying pizza by the slice is just not the way to go. Also, there were flies landing on the pizza in the display case--there should be a screen behind it. I suspect that a freshly made whole pie would be better since the crust was pretty tasty. I'd ask for extra sauce on the side. I'm a real meatball fan and the huge ones here miss the mark. They're too dense, chewy, and not very tasty. Mine was served with a partially melted blob of cheese on top and the tomato sauce was bland. The garlic knot was delicious!

The servers and guys at the cash register were so happy to see us and just happy to serve. Immediate good vibes there. We sat down and ordered at the counter inside and the food arrived in a timely manner. We got mozzarella sticks (yum), garlic knots (yumss) and two pizzas. We got a plain cheese pizza and the Miss Piggy. We come from NYC and this pizza was a delicious treat and reminder of what we are used to back home. 10/10 would definitely come back.
San Diego has a surprising amount of delicious pizza. Sisters Pizza regularly comes up in conversation with other NY style pizzas like Bronx or Tribute. What's nice about this spot is that they have a gorgeous dining area with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patio is so pretty and a great place to just relax and eat in the fresh air. You can order pizza by the slice that's displayed in a glass counter by the register. Besides pizza, they also offer appetizers, salads and pasta dishes! They had a beef lasagna special while I was there. I called ahead for takeout to order a pepperoni pizza. It was good! I liked that the crust was firm and held up when you picked up the pizza. The pepperoni is the little cup type which is the best. Definitely a good pizza and I like that this location is a little easier to access and park at than their little sister location in North Park.

They have a happy hour Monday through Friday from 4-6 PM that includes a slice of pizza and a glass of wine. I ordered two slices and a glass of wine and my total was under $20. Such a great deal. I tried two slices: *Don Ho: Absolutely delicious. The crust was perfectly crispy with great flavor. *Rooftop BBQ: Also amazing. I really love their crust; it's flavorful without feeling heavy. One of the staff members even brought me ranch to dip it in, which was a great touch. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is covered and really cute, and dogs are welcome, which I loved. I'll admit I was a little hesitant to come here because I wasn't a big fan of Little Sister's, but this place completely exceeded my expectations. Easily one of the best pizza spots in San Diego. The staff were incredibly friendly, gave great recommendations, and went above and beyond, even offering ranch on the side without being asked. I'll definitely be back.
My son, husband and I stopped in for some slices yesterday and were so pleased. I absolutely LOVED all their community safety initiatives. From informing the community of their rights to the safety anti-ICE whistles and the shirts they had for sale (one of which I purchased), everything was perfect. And to top it all off, the pizza was so good! We got eight different slices because we like to try new things and rate them together. The classic pepperoni was a 10 and the Uncle Jesse and BBQ were as well. Hope to go back and support and place that supports the community.
Great food, friendly staff and chill ambiance! 10/10 recommend this place! We were in Hillcrest for the weekend and I've always heard of sisters so was excited to check them out. We split the Sister's salad to start - chopped romaine, avocado, roasted corn, edamame and tomato with balsamic dressing - so fresh and so good! Then I had a slice of the veggie pizza - it was right out of the oven so it was piping hot! Perfect amount of veggies - broccoli, onion, bell pepper, onion, tomato and olives. Delish! My husband got a meatball and the soup of the day Zuppa Tuscana and loved it (I also tried both and can verify they were delicious). The staff were so friendly and delightful. I wish I took more pictures but I was too busy stuffing my face if we're ever in hillcrest again we'll be back!

Gluten free crust that you can't tell is gluten free!!!! Thin, crispy, TASTY. Oh my gosh. I can't wait to go back. Also didn't take a long time to receive food. Plenty of patio seating. The only downside is the construction across the street that blows a lot of dirt on to the tables :( read more

Yeah. Oh YEAH. Stopped in here for a slice since we'd skipped lunch and it was way too early for dinner. We needed something of substance to put in our stomach to get us through the afternoon. Spotted Sister's Pizza and figured, "Oh hell, why not?" Oh yeah. So good, we came back for dinner, too!! If you are into true NY-style pizza, this is the place. Great service. Friendly employees. Lots of choices on pizza, but since we're purists, we got the Modest Mouse (plain cheese), and I cannot express the level of culinary satisfaction that we experienced. Gooey cheese. Tasty sauce. Crispy on the bottom crust. Absolutely perfect. Absolutely delicious. And absolutely addicting. Dinner was similar - this time we ordered a whole pie, and I had a grilled veggie sandwich. Grilled eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes, cheese and arugula on a roll. Ate half of it, then decided I couldn't resist the pizza and started in on that. Ended up eating just the veggies (left behind the roll) on my order. Still very satisfying. And, hold on -- they actually make zeppolis here. What?!! Damn - make me up a batch! I haven't had a zeppoli in, well, way too many years to count. If I weren't so full, I would have eaten them all (and you get over a dozen in an order). As it was, I stuffed a few of those hot, powdered sugar delights into my mouth and sort of wished I had waited because I wanted more . . . and more . . . Seating can be at a premium, particularly on weekend evenings. Dog friendly out in the patio area, so be prepared to encounter a pooch or two. Limited seating inside. A handful of local craft beers on tap, as well as multiple types of wines. So damn good. Mangia!! read more
I finally was able to check out this spot. It has been on my list for a long time. The location itself is extremely charming and cozy. It feels like a neighborhood hang out. It's a walk up window with seats inside and outside. We ordered the chicken parm pizza, uncle Jesse, and pepperoni. All of the slices were great. We also had our dog and baby with us. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a good atmosphere with great pizza. read more
I'm so glad I finally got to check out Sisters pizza! This has been top on my list for months and is my friend's favorite pizza spot in the area! They have a decent size patio area and its self seating and dog friendly. All the pizzas here are New York style thin crust and my favorite was the Uncle Jesse! Can't wait to come back! read more
If you are in the San Diego area and your in the mood for thin crust pizza then Sisters Pizza should be on the top of your list. It is located in the Hillcrest Neighborhood and has a wonderful local vibe. You have both indoor and outdoor dining. It is also dog friendly and vegan friendly. They have numerous options for your thin crust pizza as well as awesome salads. You also have an option of either fountain drinks or a nice glass of wine to complement your meal. Service is good and friendly ! But depending on the day, staff can be quite busy so patience might be necessary. They will eventually get to you ! This is my go to place for pizza when I'm in SD and I've never been disappointed ! Kudos to Sisters Pizza ! read more

My favorite neighborhood pizza joint the vibes and friendliness of this place make it the perfect casual dining option with family or friends. the service is quick and attentive. Eggplant parm (8.5/10): not the biggest fan of just plain spaghetti and marinara but the eggplant parm was absolute perfection. it was crunchy and seasoned just right Spinach and ricotta pizza (9/10): the undercarriage of the slice was toasty but not burnt. And the flavor of the cheeses was just perfect! This one and the Obecian are my absolute FAVES. Can't beat the price and the ambiance. Added bonus is that my dog loves it here! read more
#10 in 2025 It's great to find a small business that supports the things that you do and Sisters Pizza does just that. Not only that, but the service is exceptional and the food above average! We were at Balboa Park and looked for something close by and we found this gem online. Since we live in Las Vegas we don't get to enjoy outdoor dining year round so we take advantage when we can. We grabbed a table on the patio and got a couple menus and then ordered inside at the counter. We all got a slice of pizza, 2 of us got salads and my Hubbs got some loaded fries. The serving sizes were so big we couldn't finish all of our food. While inside I saw a box of books for kids and looked through and they were all diverse in nature so I grabbed a couple to read to my grandson while we were waiting for our lunch. My only disappointment was that we wanted to buy their t-shirts and they didn't have any in larger sizes. We hope they will next time we are in San Diego. Definitely recommend Sisters Pizza! read more

A great neighborhood spot! The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is quick. Walking in, the ambiance has a warm and inviting feeling. One big bonus is they offer a good handful of pizza by the slice (not just the basics). I enjoyed my UNCLE JESSE slice accompanied with a glass of wine. They also have a decent sized patio, perfect for the San Diego sunshine. If you're in Hillcrest and craving good pizza in a chill but fun place, by yourself or with a group, Sister's Pizza is the place. Definitely recommend and will return. read more

Sisters pizza is the best pizza in San Diego! The pepperoni pizza and the bbq are two of my favorites, which I got tonight. I've past by this location multiple times and finally had the chance to try out the pizza. This pizza shop fills up fast and seating is on a first come, first serve basis and I wss lucky to get a table at the prime dinner time. I went to dinner with friends and we ordered the Rooftop BBQ and the Uncle Jesse. The pizzas were pricey for the smallest option but both were good. The garlic knots were amazing. They were flavorful and taste the best right when they come out of the oven. read more
This is an excellent place to go to to have pizza . The sausage and mushroom pizza me and my parents ate came out nice and hot. The service was very friendly and the overall ambiance of the restaurant was quite good for a pizza place. I wish I could come back here again but I am leaving San Diego the day after next. They have specialty pizza in slices! I'm always happy when pizzerias have specialty pizzas available in slices. That way I can try a few different ones! This time around, I got the BBQ pizza and the chickie chickie parm parm. They were alright. I certainly like the crispiness of the pizza. They're thin and have that nice snappy sound when you bite them. The BBQ was pretty tasty; you can't mess up BBQ. The chickie chickie parm parm was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't bad, but it's not what you expect a chicken parm to be. I would want to get some breaded chicken pieces with hearty marinara sauce and gooey cheese, but this chicken parm seems to be just tomato-based pizza with pieces of chicken; I didn't really get the breaded texture. It wasn't bad, taste-wise, just slightly underwhelming given that it was supposed to be chicken parm. read more

Is there a parking lot near by?
No, it's all street parking- some metered some not. I typically don't have too hard of a time finding street parking and never have to walk more than two blocks. Although I never go on Fridays/saturdays
Do you have vegan cheese?
Yes, we do! We use Follow Your Heart brand. On Wednesdays vegan slices are available and any other day we're open vegan pizza is available by the whole pie.
Will you sell a pizza par-baked?
No, but they now offer Fresh Frozen Pizzas you can bake at home. :)
Do you take reservations?
Hello Michael! We do not take reservations. Patio is available on a first come/ first served basis. We hope to see you soon!

We have a 14" GF pizza crust from Venice Baking Company and we build it from there! We are a small restaurant so full-disclosure, there is always a chance that flour is in the air and could come into contact with the pizza.
