True Wisconsin hospitality can be found at the Sisters Saloon. A hidden gem in St. Germain, not to be overlooked. Our party of 9 came for the Friday fish fry. We started with cheese curds that were served with homemade ranch, and warm pretzels with cheese sauce. We also had to try the cheesy broccoli and cheesy cauliflower soups. Both were wonderful and made from scratch. The small plate of roasted cauliflower was unique and even our cauliflower skeptics loved it. The pan friend pollack and local fried perch were equally enjoyed. Cheesy hash brows on the side and homemade baked beans were awesome. Sheila was especially sweet. I'm probably breaking some northwoods code by rating this place... But it's worth it! My Dad talked this place up for years, and finally had my chance to check it out this past fall. It's every bit your standard townie bar/restaurant that hosts a friday fish fry. However - you've never had it this good. No, I'm not talking about the beer-battered. The real deal here is the pan-fried (trust me on this one!) fish, that does have a very light batter and the fish tastes so fresh! It's all you can eat, but the first portion is so big that I wasn't going back for seconds. Get there early, like 5PM early to beat the old-timers there since tables are limited and it fills up fast in the summertime. read more

Called ahead to ask if outdoor seating was available and was told yes. Arrived 15 minutes later and bartender gave us menus, told us to find a place and she or "Tammy" would be right out. Waited and finally went inside to order drinks. When I mentioned we were waiting still, the response was "Sorry, I thought Tammy told you, we're not doing outdoor seating. You'll have to come in here." Dining out during the pandemic (with an 80 year old high risk parent) is difficult, but such experiences are inexcusable. What a shame a restaurant that once had good food and some shred of customer service can be so pathetic--no offer of any accommodation was made, and apparently it's deemed acceptable to lie (twice) to potential patrons. I've eaten here many times before and the food was always good, but nothing could entice me back after such rude treatment. There was a special Friday night menu so there weren't many options, but what we ended up eating was pretty tasty. My only complaint is that we ran into a couple of Illinois bastards. I stopped in at Sister's for the first time this past weekend and had a really good experience! Our waitress was friendly and our service was prompt. I had a bloody mary and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap with fries. The food was good quality/not greasy and the bloody was so good I ordered another! My fiancé had a burger, which he enjoyed and said his jack & cokes were poured quite well! The highlight is how friendly and relaxing this place was! We will be stopping back again. read more

A cute place to stop for a meal. My mother in law really enjoyed her burger and beer but wished the burger had onions and lettuce on it though. I had a blt (should have had more bacon) and the potato salad, which is really tasty. The big downfall is they serve soda in a small tumbler filled all the way to the top with ice so you hardly get any soda at all and they don't do refills which is a bit ridiculous. Would we stop in again? probably not but it was okay for lunch today. read more

This restaurant was such a nice surprise. We are visiting from Chicago and didn't know where to eat. We came here based on a recommendation by a local person. It has a cozy Northwoods atmosphere, but what's really great is the food! We shared the corn fritters as an appetizer and they came with homemade honey mustard dressing for dipping--delicious! For my entree, I ordered the scallops with pork belly, celery root purée and wilted arugula and leeks, drizzled with a citrus glaze. It was phenomenal! My brother ordered the half chicken, and that was tender and juicy. Both of us had salads with homemade blue cheese dressing that we really enjoyed. Our waitress, Carol, provided us with stellar service, as well. It was a definite 5 Star experience for us and we will definitely come back the next time we're in town. read more

Great atmosphere and awesome pizza. We visit from the Chicago area and come here often all year round.

My family and I visit the Northwoods every summer and make a point to stop here. My kids even asked if we could eat here because they remembered how good the food is. On our most recent visit, I had the pastrami sandwich and homemade potato salad which was excellent. My husband had the burger and my kids had the grilled cheese. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service is very friendly and attentive. It gets busy at lunch and dinner so best to get there early if you want to avoid a wait but even if you have to wait, it'll be worth it! read more

This was our first time meeting here. We were very very impressed. The food was extremely high-quality. The simple menu demonstrates that they are perfect at making a few things rather than trying to make everything. I had the pork shank and my wife and daughter each had the scallops. We all give these a 10. I am very particular when it comes to service, and I say the service was outstanding. We also recommend the pretzel bites with cheese as an appetizer. Took our family here to the fish fry after a local recommended it as having the best fish fry in the area. We had a rough start as we got there at 7:45pm with the hostess telling us there would be a 30 minute wait... one hour and a half later we finally get seated. To be honest it kind of killed my mood for the rest of the evening. With two kids tow (4 and 6) it was a challenge to keep them entertained. Wish this place would take reservations.... Got the duck tenders as an appetizer. The crusty batter overpowered any flavor of duck. Honestly it could have been chicken breast as the meat was dried out underneath. The plum sauce dip was good but couldn't save the dish. Wouldn't get this again. The fish fry was more tasty, batter was light but with good flavor and the fish was fresh and moist. Came with coleslaw which was drowning in mayonaise, tasty fries and a slice of marbled rye bread. Finished the meal with the chocolate bread pudding. I would get this again only improvement I'd make would be replace one if the whip cream dollops with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream! So to recap Fish fry 4 stars Chocolate Bread pudding 4.5 stars Duck tenders 3 stars Restaurant service once we were seated 3.5 stars. Advice to families... try and get there at 5pm. Wow! We went in expecting typical supper club fare and found a gourmet gem in the Northwoods. We enjoyed an appetizer of braised and seared pork cheeks au jus over a celery root purée topped with a crunchy pickled and diced combination of apples and radishes. It got even better from there. In France, people take great pride in making simple food well. The chef did an excellent job with my lamb chops, oven-roasted zucchini and squash and sublime mashed potatoes. My husband enjoyed a braised pork shank with a curried apple sauce and pan seared Brussel sprouts with bacon. We finished this excellent meal by sharing a homemade brownie with ice cream -- again, simple done well. We recommend without hesitation Sisters Saloon. You won't be disappointed. read more

Yearly seasonal (winter) visitors of Sisters for beverages. This year we stopped for Friday night Fish Fry (first time for dinner) with the kids. Food was great. Reasonably priced for a supper club. Wait staff was attentive. Sadly, kids were not welcomed at the bar this year (they were last year!). Disappointing considering we have visited dozens of establishments in this area that have welcomed kids at the bar. If you're looking for the best kid friendly establishment, visit 19th Hole or Pope's. Hands down they are the best. A close second would be: Fibber's, Knockers, Clearview, or Thirsty Whale. read more

Our server, Carol, was so helpful. She made great recommendations, including a delectable appetizer of pork cheeks that was melt in your mouth goodness. When driving into the parking lot, it doesn't look much more than any other old northwoods bar, When you walk in its an old low ceiling log cabin, very casual with vinyl table cloths on the tables in the dining area and a bar with lots of Packers memorobilia-classic! The food is FABULOUS!! The brandied walleye is the best Iv'e had in the northwoods and believe me, I eat out a lot! Prime rib is also excellent as well as the pan-fried perch, OMG! Very friendly staff and the chef is also very friendly! We came after he closed the kitchen one night and he went ahead and cooked for us anyhow! Love it!! Very, very good bloody marys with a tasty little frozen salt lick ice cube and good-sized beer chaser in a pretty gold rimmed glass. Nice view of Fawn Lake. I'd give it more stars, but when my husband and I walked in, the entire bar turned and stared at us, but didn't say a word. It was bizarre. Kind of felt really awkward like when Peewee Herman walked into that biker bar (only without the bikers) and the actress who played Elvira wanted to tattoo him and then hang him and then kill him. Wow!! What a great meal!! Had the pan fried perch dinner on Friday night! Lightly breaded and delicious. Also had the cheese curds, they were a little a salty, but tasty. Stopped in on a whim and were very happy we did. Everything was delicious. Drinks were super. Ordered two appetizers--duck fingers and spinach artichoke dip, both very tasty.
