Just tried this place today and really liked it. Just across from the beach. Lots of different Asian/Hawaiian food items and coffee drinks. I really liked my Loco Moco and hot Mocha Latte. Lots of food, the large burger patty was lean and tender, nice char, no grizzle, gravy was good, not too salty, lots of soft fluffy moist white rice and two perfectly fried eggs on top. Great friendly service. It truly is a shack with just a few seats at the bar outside. Also, you can always just find a spot outside to sit down (or down at the beach) and eat since the weather is always awesome! The parking is easy and plentiful. This is in the building that housed Hideaway Cafe which was one of my most favorite spots. Sad to see them go. But Sindi's is a unique joint that seems to have a lot of Vietnamese food and other Asian dishes. But my favorite food here is their cheddar cheese, bacon and egg sandwich with an iced mocha. Very tasty food but I won't order the bahn mi or the spring rolls again. They will completely fall apart when you try to eat them. Have given benefit of the doubt several times and weeks apart and the issue still persists. If the bread/roll would stay together these would be great. Came across this place when I was in Solana. The food is ok but it took them over 15 minutes to prepare a bowl.

I hate doing this, but the food wasn't good. I was raised in San Gabriel Valley, and I have had my fair share of Lee's Sandwiches, Mr. Baguette, and Bman's. First, the Bahn Mi baguette was not good. The bread tasted stale and had no crisp to it. The veggies were lacking the deep-pickled flavor, and the pork was so-so. I was pretty disappointed. The spam musubi didn't fair much better either. The sauce was generic, and the spam wasn't grilled long enough. It's the first time I've had musubi, and the seaweed wrap was sliding off--more disappointment. Lastly, the chicken teriyaki bowl. My 10-year-old didn't have much to say about it, but "it's okay." He finished half of it, and it wasn't because he was full. If you're in a pinch and want this style cuisine then sure eat here. However, if you're attracted to the Yelp reviews then I'd look elsewhere. read more

What a great place!!! The food is super fresh, delicious with a variety of menu items both plant based and meat based. The owner Sindi is so sweet. She's walks around connecting with the customers, asking them how the food is, how they are doing. She's going to be introducing a winter menu (that's when the weather is below 60F in San Diego ). This place is the best thing to happen in my life. We came across it looking for boba... and then ended up eating the best Bahn Mi I've had in North County. The food is incredible. I've come 3 days in a row! Also, places that skimp on boba are the worst...and they do NOT do that here. You always have like another half cup of boba at the bottom when you are done. I have eaten Vietnamese sandwiches since I was a little kid. I won't share how old I am now but that's a lot of Vietnamese sandwiches. I'm from NorCal and sadly even a Lee's Vietnamese sandwich which is equivalent to getting one at subway is much better than the sandwiches we tried this morning. The pork banh mi - pork was so salty that's all I tasted, salt. Uhh, not good. Bread was dry and rest of garnishes were too sour. The food is a hit or miss. Some items like the Kimchi dog I have come back and gotten more than once. Others like the noodle stir fry and the shaved ice were either too salty or too sweet that I didn't even finish it. Although friendly, the staff seems a little inexperienced with creating the drinks especially the boba. I've seen a worker forget to put in some of the toppings I asked for and have to take off the boba lid and transfer my drink to a different cup in order to add the right ingredients. Nonetheless, it is a very cute beachside snack store and I would recommend coming here for a refreshing drink (especially the Aloha canned drinks) or a small snack after a day at the beach. read more

A cute food to go place, I really love the sitting outdoor with the umbrellas so a few points here, but my fried noodles with porks had an unpleasant smell. The meat tasted salty. Few options for food, but it's a small place. What disappointed me most was that my shrimp banh mi was not served on a French baguette, which is traditional for banh mi sandwiches. The food is mediocre, over salted, at best. The Bahn me sandwich was awful. Not toasted, soggy bread, over salted meat/pork. I tried the chicken one a different time, same result. Do NOT order the ramen! Go home, microwave ramen because it tasted exactly like Sindi's Snack Shack. Go to RakiRaki instead because it a few dollars more and you will actually eat authentic ramen that TASTES good. I threw the food away. I've been here several times because it was new, I wanted them to work out the new business issues. It has not improved. The employees pleasant attitudes are the best part of this place. It isn't their fault. The noodle salads are good, overpriced, but edible. I would recommend to go down the same road as Sindi's Snack Shack to Bang Kok Bay restaurant and eat salads there. They are not as nice, but it will make sense once you try the food why the customers tolerate the attitudes. The desserts and drinks save this place. It is overpriced and over sweetened by comparison to Convoy street area dessert and boba places. Conclusion: save your money, time and calories. read more

This is a great spot. First of all I love Station Sushi. It is my favorite sushi place in all of Southern California to date. As I can piece it together, because Sindi wasn't there this trip, this is run by the same management that runs Station. With that in mind, what I found was really good food at a good value. I had the kimchi fried rice, with pork. It was phenomenal. The only drawback I would have to say is, they should offer some sort of sweet drizzle to put on top of it. Fried rice with duck sauce is one of my go-to's with a hangover, and since I was there on a Saturday morning, well you can guess the rest... The kimchi fried rice was so good, and that was all I could smell when I walked into the shack, so I really didn't take time to study the menu before ordering. I said to the young girl behind the counter, "What is that that I smell?" And, when she told me the dish, I forgot I didn't even like kimchi! Now this is coming from a guy who lived in Korea for almost 3-1/2 months, so I know kimchi, I also know how it smells. The good and the bad stuff. This was phenomenal. Just enough kimchi to give it a tiny kick, to add a little crunch, also to give it that authentic far eastern taste. They dropped a fried egg on there, and it was money. It may be the Boston in me that wants the sweetness, but I would order it again even without the gravy. As I was waiting for my fried rice I checked out the rest of the menu and it will definitely pull me back again. I especially want to try the spam masubi (Think spam nagiri). Now before you go writing off my reviews because I like spam, think how Sindi pulled off the Great Kimchi Miracle of 2021, but this time with Spam. Like most, I don't care for Spam either, but after the 3-1/2 months I lived in Korea I spent another 3-1/2 months in Japan, and this dish was a common treat. This is not your mother's canned raw spam on white Wonder Bread and mayonnaise! This is thinking outside of the box with that delicately cooked sushi touch. Delicious ;-) The shack was very intimate yet easy-going. You had a nice view down to Fletcher Cove and could sit out on the deck and eat. To me this is how Southern California screams casual beach dining. Plenty of parking considering the area. Not too difficult to find, and once you do you'll see it all the time. Great location, I was excited to eat here but unfortunately the only thing that was ok was the noodle salad. Bhan mi: over salted, flavorless Boba: The Tea is disappointing, the boba was always hard and dry (for some reason) Service: Great, really nice people. Overall, I think they should rethink their menu and recipes. Figure out the boba problem, because it is gross. Maybe source it from somewhere else. And redo the Bahn mi recipe. Sindi also owns Station Sushi, which is delicious, so I would recommend that. Also Bangkok bay down the street is really good Thai. read more

Wasn't impressed. Kimchi fried rice was meh. Was overall dry and nothing too tasty. While the staff was sweet, they left it out waiting while my friends all got food, which is never really cool. I also expected this place to be by the beach and unfortunately you couldn't even see the water from here, so essentially you're eating in a parking lot. I was recommended this place and they serve delicious and fresh Japanese/Vietnamese style food. It was super busy and mostly only had room to stand and eat although most people got take out. They have delicious boba tea and shaved iced as well. I will definitely be going back next time I am in the area. They are a brand new business so go support them! This is the best Asian food in the area, everything is so fresh and delicious! My wife loves the BBQ Pork Bahn Mi and my favorite is the Lemongrass Chicken Asian Noodle Salad. I love how this mini shack is close to the beach! It's a great location to head over to if you're craving a quick meal. Upon entering, I was greeted by a wonderful lady and was able to place my order immediately. It seems like they make their food from scratch, so they do take a while before your order is ready. I only tried their loco moco and it ended up really salty, but I guess I was too hungry to care at first. Towards the end of the meal, the saltiness was overbearing that I needed water to down my meal. Cool place. It's located in an old garage which is a really neat concept. Service is slow as molasses. Don't come here is you've got places to go and things to do. There were only two people waiting when I arrived. We waited about 10 minutes for their order (not sure how long they were there before I arrived), and then another 10 after that for mine. Not sure how they handle busy days. the girl working in the front seemed to have all the time in the world to get things done. I'm not even an impatient person, but there's a point where it's a waist of everyone's time. The frustrating part is that I tipped when putting my order in online. Wish I could take it back... food was good, masubi was yummy. But worth the wait? Still not sure. I think the menu is too extensive for what they can successfully produce in a reasonable time frame. I also wish they were more consistent. The last time I visited, they were calling out orders when they were ready. This time food was sitting in the counter next to the FOH employee and i figured she would say something if it was possibly for one of the three people waiting and staring at her, but no. I eventually walked up and saw it was mine and asked if they don't call out orders anymore. She said not always for online orders. Great customer service! not. read more
