The staff and store in Santa Monica is great. Though if you are looking for a California king mattress they only have 2 on display so you can test your mattress firmness on any queen size and get that in a California King. Here was my problem re: delivery. They are super paranoid re: bed bugs. I had them fumigated years ago but even if they find one teeny dead one they will not deliver or haul away the old mattress. If the new mattress has a plastic wrapping they will deliver it inside but you have to get rid of the old one yourself. For me it cost me $190 for a hauling service. I highly recommend working with Cleat. I was planning a move out-of-state, and I was looking to order a mattress to meet me there. After going to multiple mattress stores in the area, I was very underwhelmed by my options. Cleat has a very approachable, natural demeanor that didn't feel "sales-y" at all. He took me through their options, which were great, and he successfully coordinated an out-of-state delivery with the mattress company's rep. I just went back to this store recently because I needed a new platform for a mattress I already owned, and I was reminded what an easy, top-notch one-stop shop this place is. When you need a bed, you can run around town to different stores looking at options and getting overwhelmed and exhausted (done that!) or you can make your life easy - just go straight to this store. The service, selection and value are all excellent and if you're looking for something specific (ie - organic, luxury, whatever) they have it all. I worked with the store manager Johnny Garcia and he was great - he helped me work through a couple logistical problems and made it all seamless. I went back there because I bought an incredible bed for my guest room from this store 8 years ago, and to this day I think it's the best bed I've ever slept on - I wish I had bought every bed in my house from there. Before I discovered this store I had already purchased a wildly expensive bed from another luxury bed retailer for my master bedroom, and I went to Sit 'n Sleep afterwards for my guest room so I could find something a little more reasonable priced. The experience of shopping here and the quality was so much better that I regretted spending a fortune on the custom bed in my master - it's just not as good. Try this location - they'll take their time to educate you on the pluses and minuses of a wide range of choices, and make sure you end up with the best fit instead of just pushing the most expensive product. I truly never write reviews but after a couple slow delivery experiences from DTC mattress brands, I ordered the same brand from Sit n Sleep. The experience was worlds better, I had it fully set up at my house the next day, really conscientious delivery guys who took care of all set up, removed the packaging and my old mattress. Buying my new mattress was the easiest decision I've ever made. I knew I needed a new mattress because I've been waking up with back pain every day for a year. Shel, the store manager, guided us to the perfect one. We discussed my current mattress, and my back pain, and Shel recommended the Avocado Eurotop. Delivery is a disaster. Long story short after a month and phone calls each week we still do not have the sheets we ordered. Each time we were told they are at the local warehouse and will be delivered by FedEx. Originally they were to be delivered to the store, that did not happen. I finally received what I thought were the sheets today, instead they were pillows that we received at the store when we purchased the mattress. Returning the electric base is another story, it should have never been offered as the platform has pull out storage and raised the mattress to high. We ended up with a split king instead of a regular king. Good luck on your order. read more

When you are not "people" enough! This review is not about any mattress at Sit 'n Sleep, as I did not purchase one from them, nor will I ever after this negative experience. Instead, this review is about an extremely unprofessional employee at the Santa Monica location: 2828 Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90403. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but I'll update this review if I find out. I needed a new mattress, so I decided to visit this store to look around. An employee approached me and asked, "Are you here to see mattresses or buy one?" I replied that I needed to see some mattresses, to which he responded, "Today is our busiest time of the year, so I need to attend to people who actually want to buy a mattress." He briefly showed me two mattresses and then walked away. I noticed that he and the other employees were spending ample time assisting other customers, but none of them seemed willing to help me or answer my questions. The only difference I could see was that I was shopping alone, while the other customers were there as couples. As a single woman, I often feel uncomfortable visiting car dealerships or car repair shops alone, but I never expected this kind of treatment at a mattress store. I'm not sure why they treated me this way--maybe because I said I was just looking? Was I supposed to buy the first mattress I saw without exploring my options? Feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable, I left the store with unanswered questions. Later, I called back to inquire about one of the mattresses I saw. The same employee answered, and without letting me speak or addressing my question, he asked, "Are you the same woman who just left? Today is our busiest time of the year, and I have other 'people' waiting for me and have to go." Then he hung up. Here are my recommendations: 1. If you're a single woman shopping for a mattress, avoid this store or bring someone with you. 2. If they ask whether you're planning to buy, respond with a firm, "Yes, sir." After this incident, I visited seven other stores, and all the salespeople I met were professional and respectful. Not a single one of them treated me the way this employee did at Sit 'n Sleep. What an unpleasant experience--I guess I wasn't "people" enough for him. read more
