Awesome experience! My flight landed past midnight, and I saw this location has hours of 7 am - 12 midnight beforehand. I stayed at a hotel near the airport and went to Sixt the next morning (via hotel shuttle). The check out process was quick and easy. The employee (I can not remember her name -- sorry!) was awesome! she suggested a larger SUV for me and I agreed. I was so glad she made the recommendation. The vehicle was a new Volvo XC60. rented a car everything was all good. i got my key walked around thought i checked the car pretty good. it's in a dark parking garage it should be more light. it wouldn't let me go back in the app to continue checking for damages. fast forward to my return. i bring the car back the guy walks around the car doesnt a say word gives me the tablet to sign....showed me my price of 102. and tells me which way to go to the airport. i get a email the next day about a scratch on the door and they want a extra $600. total bs why didnt he say that when he had me sign the tablet????? so i go online and type in sixt and sadley its bunch of stories just like mine so it seems like this is what they do. bogus charges for damages. and i never do reviews nor do i ever check reviews. but i just dont want anybody else to go through this...i have american express working on it. read more

I wish I could give this company a negative 100 stars. I purchased the premium car and got the "upgraded" BMW convertible, with the broken brake lights, and broken mirror. The convertible top wouldn't come down and to make matters worse, the tire blew and we had to wait 4 hours on the highway in the desert for a swap. That's not the end of our nightmare. The swap ends up being a lemon also. It overheats on us. And leaves us stranded for another 9 hours!!!!!!!!! Sixt did not have any answers as to why I had two lemons on my vacation over the phone, so I go to the airport to return the vehicle, and speak to a manager. I spoke with a very huffy, aggressive, immature and under-trained manager named Melanie first. She left a very bad taste in my mouth from the very beginning. She did not begin with apologizing for all that I had gone through. She first tried to explain what may have caused the incidents. WRONG!!!! That's not what I want to hear!!!!! Long story short. The ill trained manager had to get a real manager to come and do the job. Melanie actually called the POLICE on me because I began to tell potential customers that they were in for a rollercoaster ride with this company. She stomped away like a literal Karen when she went to get the police. It was amazing to see in real life. And she's not even a Karen. SMH. This place is absolutely awful. Had a prepaid reservation for 20 days. Came in to get the car and the agents wouldn't rent the car to me because my ID was cracked. TSA in Dallas broke it this morning so this company took that out on me and left me stranded. No other company would have given me an issue and I confirmed that with them. The head female agent there was extremely rude and caused the issue. When I asked to speak to a manager she refused. I tried to call the corporate office and they didn't answer. She then cancelled my reservation and caused a huge issue with us getting a car. Way too much drama and rudeness here. Rent somewhere else. I also opened a BBB complaint against them. read more

Where is the customer service? I was scheduled to rent a car from Sixt today. My trip got canceled due to the COVID-19. Canceling and rescheduling flights...NO problem. Canceling and rescheduling accommodations...NO problem. Getting refunds for activities planned...NO problem. Canceling or rescheduling Sixt rental car...NO help, NO response, just silence. What a disappointment! The COVID-19 information on their website won't even load. When you call customer service they just send you an email that is nothing more than what you can do on their website. I have sent an inquiry two times via their website and have yet to hear back. It seems to me that the representatives you CAN contact (phone or in person) have NO ability to do anything except TAKE money and deal with the "car" part of the rental. No one can refund money. This clearly has to be done through a whole different group of people who you CANNOT contact other than the website. There is NO WAY to have a two-way conversation with said people. I am prepared to take the lose. My advice to you is just the same as most of the reviews on Yelp. Stay away...unless you want to risk dealing with ghost representatives just to save a little bit of money. read more

Arrived a couple minutes after closing, 0100, due to a flight delay. Ricardo just closed, unable to provide service because he said, "store is set on a timer. It won't let him open until 6 hrs later." But he inferred that he would open it all back up if we "prepaid," refused to honor the reservation. Here for a funeral service with my two young children. Then he suggested we return in 6hrs?!?! Seriously. We have been using this company for years, never an issue until recently. This is the second incident in the past month. I traveled from WI to AZ and monitored the rental car rates for multiple months to make sure I got the best price. I ended with a convertible with Sixt. After having a confirmed reservation with them for several weeks before hand, I was very disappointed to show up to pick up the car only to be told they don't have any convertible to rent out. Then I asked if they could price match for a sedan that I can see on a current website with another car rental and they said they couldn't match it. All I got was sorry for the inconvenience. Didn't give me a good feeling about this company and will never be giving them my business in the future. read more

After we returned they sent an email with damage we didn't do to the car. We would have said something when we returned had it been damaged. I rented a Dodge Challenger and it was a lot of fun to drive. Price was great, pickup was so easy! The drop-off was the only thing that was difficult because it was just not very obvious where the entry was for SixT, so that part really could have been better. This company is always terrible. I reserved a car through Travelocity in Atlanta. No other car rental companies were showing availability, but they were. I paid for my car up front. I arrived at the ATL airport and took myself all the way by tram to the counter where there was a long line. I waited about 30 minutes in that line, and someone came out and said if the reservation was not made 48 hours prior, they cannot honor it. I asked why the reservation was confirmed and how I get my money back. They said they had no way of knowing if a reservation was made as it was done through a 3rd party and took no accountability for confirming or advertising availability. When I called Travelocity the next day Sixt had told them I did not show up for my reservation and had not noted that they cancelled my reservation. Luckily Travelocity took my word for it and refunded my money. This company is very poorly run. They advertise availability on third party sites when they do not have it. All the other car rental companies had the decency to say they were sold out. HORRIBLE! read more

Went up to the counter to see if the car was available and Abdullah was extremely helpful, positive attitude and you can tell he has a passion in helping people. He told me it would be a 2-3 hour for the next car available due to limited vehicles and I literally booked like 30 minutes before going up to him. I said that's fine and I understood and would wait. After waiting an hour, I went back up for an update and Abdullah was on his lunch break. Seeing me at the counter, he started helping me out WHILE on his lunch break and got me the car for an EXTREMELY good price. The Car was great. My problem lies in the fact when I was booking the reservation through Expedia it was advertised for 58.00 per day. We had the car for 3 days our total was 339.00 and some change. I booked it figuring with taxes, fees etc that would be OK. Then on the 2nd day of our trip I received an email stating there was another pending charge for 146.00 dollars. We turned in the car before they were open so we had to use the drop box and couldn't talk to anyone. I called Expedia upon getting home to dispute this charge. I was informed there would be no dispute after they contacted Sixt as it was another tax. So our 58.00 per day car for 3 days ended up costing us almost 500.00. I will never rent from this company again as I do not like being deceived and taken advantage of. ​ read more

My first time using Sixt, and it's off to a bad start, at this particular location. I just started my rental, and will update once I return the vehicle. Arrived at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on 10/25/19, and was assisted by, Zachary C. I reserved a Premium SUV, and unfortunately all they had was an Escalade ESV. This is where thing started to go downhill. I asked Zachary if I can downgrade to a different vehicle, and he assured me that all I had to do was let the guys downstairs know that I'd like to switch vehicles, and everything would be adjusted automatically. So off I go... Upon arriving downstairs, I told the agents what Zachary had told me, and they both had a perplexed look on their faces. They told me that Zachary should have never told me that, as they do not make those types of adjustments. They stated that I would need to return upstairs, and have him make the change. WTF? Really? Did Zach just lie to me? Or are they being lazy, and lying to me? Hell no! It takes to much time to go back upstairs with my four year son tagging along with me. I'll take the Escalade, I told the agent. The vehicles here are in a parking garage, and when doing an initial vehicle walk through, it is easy to miss things. Please take your time. When I arrived home with the vehicle, while taking my son out from the rear, I thought to myself, you've got to be freaking kidding me! Filthy, nasty, disgusting, sticky seats, Doritos crumbs between the seats, and trash once I pulled the center arm rest. My reaction was to check my clothes, and my son's clothes for any debris/trash. Well, I had to waste even more time by cleaning a vehicle that I didn't own. There was no way I was having the rest of my family ride in this trashy interior. 45 minutes later, I had the interior wiped down to at least being acceptable. We're headed out on our trip in the morning, and I hope to God that our vehicle experience during the trip, and the final return, can give me a complete 180 view of this rental company. At this current stage, I'd never recommend renting from this location. Edit: Vehicle returned today, 10/27/19, and it was simple. Pulled up, a young lady took the keys, and looked over the vehicle. She stated everything looked good, and that a receipt would be emailed to me within the next 24-48 hours. I'm hoping for no surprises, because thinking about the overall experience with this company I should have requested a paper receipt, with everything documented. I felt compelled to write a good review because I had a very different experience than most of the people who have reviewed this company recently. I booked online through Hotwire and got a premium SUV at a discounted rate. Check in was fast and easy. The gentleman helping me was very informative, offered upgrades, and made everything very clear regarding cost including the hold on the credit card for the various vehicles. When I returned the car, the process was also very quick and easy. While it is true, you are required to inspect the vehicle prior to leaving for any damages, I had no problem with this. In fact, the small scratches that I found beforehand were already noted on the contract. Everyone I dealt with from start to finish was efficient, professional, very helpful. Warning DO NOT USE THEM. We rented a car from expedia, they used this company. We picked car up, they gave us the keys but did no walk thru inspection. Upon return, no employees were present. There was 3 lines on cars all with about 10 cars in each line to be returned. They had a lock box to drop off keys. Again no personal to inspect or take keys. A week later we get an email that they want to charge us for a crack in the windshield. Bullshit, there was no crack done while with us. They guy was not even listening, his response was well it is what it is and your responsible. Another 4 days later we get another email saying they are charging us for the keys not being returned!! And then today another email saying they are charging us $ 250.00 for unable to rent the car . Again.. do not use this company. We have been reading reviews and seeing this is a norm for them. DONT NOT RENT FROM HERE! I rented a van from here in November 2019 and Jan 25, 2020 I received an invoice for a chipped windshield. When I picked up the van I was not given the opportunity to inspect the van, after waiting 20 minutes for my van to arrive the employee at the desk just said to take another van. He gave me the location and sent me on my way. Upon returning the van the lady inspected it and circled a chip in the window. A chip that was there when I left. I told her that and she said she just had to mark it to be fixed. Two months later I have a bill for $95.29. 25 to fix the chip and 55.29 for loss of use and 15 for an admin fee. I too believe this is a result of not purchasing full coverage through them which they pressured me to do. I said no I'm good and I called my insurance company in front of them. When picking up the car, I specifically told the agent at the airport desk: "I need no insurance, as my credit card covers it." He replied, showing me a screen with 4 different blocks with the first block "Basic" grayed out - "it sounds like you only want the basic coverage that your card provides." We've rented from them from the past but in 4 years, this place has really went down hill. We got to the van, walked completely around and checked for damage and didn't see anything. (It's dark in there and now I'm realizing why they keep it that way, you can't see anything) so after we loaded up and left the garage we realized within seconds that we had a chip in the windshield. So we figured that they knew about it because it was very noticeable once we got into the light. I booked through the Sixt website and pre-paid a 10 day rental for a Mercedes E-Class, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac CT6, Volvo S90. As I read the Yelp reviews I realized I was about to have the best or the worst car rental experience of my life. (-: It turned out very well and I have a few tips that will help your experience work out well, too. From PHX it's about a 10 min free shuttle bus ride to the car rental location. All the agencies are in one big building, not just Sixt. The counter had 3 reps working and we only waited a minute or two before Cora helped us. She was terrific! They didn't have the Mercedes but she let us check out all the cars available; a brand new Volvo, Cadillac CTS and CT6. We chose a white CT6 and it was a great highway car for AZ. Sporty, comfortable and it had nav, USB, Bluetooth, etc. Returning the car was very smooth with Luis in the garage. GAS - If you need to bring the car back full, get gas locally and BRING YOUR RECEIPT so you are not billed for topping off the tank. I had no problems. INSURANCE - This seems to be a big problem with unhappy reviewers. Look, you're taking a $50,000 car. You need insurance. Maybe your insurance company will cover any damage, but note that in AZ you're responsible for repairs AND loss of use until the repairs are done. That's not Sixt's rule, that's AZ law. YOU WANT TO BE INSURED. I didn't talk to my carrier before the trip so bought the coverage onsite for $25 per day. Yep, an extra $250 but not Sixt's fault and it gave me piece of mind that whatever happened to that car over 10 days wasn't my problem. BAGGAGE CHECK ON RETURN - If you are at the car return building more than 90 minutes before your flight you can check your bags THERE. That saves you dragging your bags on the bus and then waiting in long check-in lines at the airport. I didn't find this out until I was on the bus. D'oh! (-: Bottom line is that I'd rent from Sixt again, and check with my insurance carrier and premium credit cards to see if I can skip the extra insurance. read more

This could have been a great review, however sneakily being charged more than $200.00 at the time of rental ruined it and I will NOT book with Sixt again. The check-in process seemed to be going great, the agent gave us an upgrade, and we thought we were ready to start a great vacation. The agent asked if we wanted 2 drivers on the car, and we said sure as long as it wouldn't cost extra. Sure, no problem. The agent asked us if we wanted any additional liability insurance and we declined, knowing that always costs more. Sure, no problem. I was asked to insert my credit card for a deposit in the case of damages upon return. (Typical when renting a car). Then, I was asked to sign THE DESK (electronic signature) without knowing what I was signing. The agent said I was just signing the waiver to rent and then we would be good to go. He folds up our receipt, hands it to us, and says we're good to go. Great! That was so easy, we thought. We didn't think a thing about it until after we were back home across the country and looking at our expenses. We were charged per day for the additional driver and for additional liability insurance. We filed a claim and after many back and forth discussions, they still refused to give us ANY money back that we were not made aware we were paying. I was planning a trip to NJ and was arriving late and decided to rent a car for the weekend we found an amazing deal and booked it. my plans changed a week alter and I called to cancel (this was 2 weeks before the trip) I contacted the company to cancel my reservation because we had already paid for it. to my surprise the person ( who was very nice) informed me that because we accepted the lowest deal and paid for it there was a fee for canceling. now mind you my total for 2 days was $118. at 1st I was upset because I guess we did not realize this when booking but I asked ok how much and he said $100. imagine my jaw dropping I said so you want to penalize me for pretty much the entire price. I pleaded and asked for something less or to speak to a manager and he said that is their policy. I ask you this.... how is that fair when someone's plans change and now I have to be stuck with this. the guy even said well its because we have saved/locked this car for you and we can not release it I'm like what the heck? when you cancel it will be released.....I could understand, 30 even 50 but like 100. I have rented cars for the past 30 years for many trips from most rent a cars and through directly them or from trip planning sites. The only reason I think they deserve the one star I left was how nice the big guy (Mike I think) at the Phoenix airport desk was. If I could give him 5 stars I totally would. I was a complete fan of SIXT because of how he treated me on 3 different occasions. The first two rentals went without a hitch. I digress. The next rental was a disaster afterwards. Let me tell you why. The rental rep recognized me from the previous two or 3 rentals because I come to phoenix often to visit my daughter at NAU. Totally cool! He was his typical friendly self and offered me a brand new 2022-3 Range Rover. BecauseI drive a luxury SUV it was a no brainer for me. I went to the vehicle, snapped pictures of the body, wheels and tires, the interior, and pretty much every detail. So off I went. I drove to flagstaff to take my daughter back to college. Mind you, avoiding trucks, and any other vehicles that might cause a rock chip. Seemingly everything was going great. On the way back, same thing. When we reach the city limits of Phoenix I see a dump truck dropping pebbles everywhere, a rock hits the window and starts a crack. Well damn! I was pissed off but I wasn't worried because I have full coverage, including rental car insurance. I used an Amex platinum for the secondary without a hitch. Here's where is how south. After a few weeks I hear nothing from Sixt so I call my insurance company and American Express to see if they have heard anything. Nothing! Started my claims with both. Giving them all of the information that I had. As my insurance company told me, I went on with my life expecting this to get resolved from the two insurance companies and Amex. Sixt never reached out to me or any of my insurance companies. It's now April, nothing. May 20th or so they send me a letter stating the loss and imploring me to be a good customer and to act in faith by paying an upward of $1400 for a window and a tire. My Ins carrier said they attempted many calls to no avail. My insurance company after finally getting in contact with them (after a two hour hold) sent them a check for the balance less the cost of the tire (remember I had detailed photos of the car from pickup and drop off) so they dropped that issue (shysters)and wanted $736. My Amex insurance paid $500 of it leaving a balance of $236 which I went ahead and paid with my Amex to make it go away with no more paperwork necessary. They sent me a payment link and I paid it. Mind you, the rep from Sixt said that this was done. So again, I continue with my life. Now we're are in late June. I get a letter from da da da, a collection agency!!! This is supposedly done and closed!! I call this company and they inform me that they have to call Sixt to verify and he'd call me back. He did! Told me that it was done and he apologized for the inconvenience. I asked if he could email me this closure information. Again... He sent an email that referred to the claim as closed. He also told me that he deals with this all the time with Sixt. He said that I'm one of the thousands. This is the most ridiculous BS I've ever had to deal with. I am a frequent renter across the country and I need to tell everyone.... be careful with this also-ran outfit. The cars are fine- they specialize in more rugged and exotic vehicles than most. But take them very seriously when they say you will be charged for everything that may go wrong with the car. Any visible ding, scratch- you will be billed for it. They are up front about this. I found the customer service to be exemplary. They may have had a deal going on when I ordered. The prices they offered compared to any other company, were unbeatable. Went down to Scottsdale for a 9 Day holiday in February 2019. Rented a car from the Scottsdale Sixt and went there at 9 a.m. to pick up the car. No car available! The girl proceeded to explain that there was a lot of windshield damage and there were fewer cars available so they had to bring one from the airport to the Scottsdale location. Waited an hour and 30 minutes until the car was there. The girl did a very quick walk around and I took pictures of all of the body dings and damage. I looked at the windshield and could see nothing obvious. 10 days after we got back I get a notice for windshield damage. I know what rock damage sounds like I've been driving for a lot of years and at no point during this trip did anything hit the windshield. I suggest anybody who rents from sixt do a side front bumper lights and detailed window video before you take possession of the car. Nice car, decent price but fishy after charge. I rented a vehicle through Sixt and within 2 miles of leaving the terminal, the check engine light came on. We returned the vehicle and were swapped for another of the same make and model. They did not walk the new vehicle with us, just tossed the keys and said go. The windshield on the new vehicle had damage and despite noting that to the attendant as we left, Sixt did not update their files. We were charged for the windshield replacement and after arguing the case with Sixt, they sent the matter to collections. I'm embarrassed for the employees of this company and will never do business with them after experiencing this fraudulent charge. read more

As a business traveler I am always impressed with companies that go the extra mile. I paid for a rental in advance for an upcoming trip. The day before I was due to pick up the SixT car I was rear ended in an auto accident. It took a few emails and calls but the company did refund 100% of my pre paid obligation (there is a NO refund policy). Our flight was delayed and after much frustration and 20 some calls to both agencies, hold time and ringing never answered I finally got someone at booking.com to assist. They couldn't get an answer either. Get to the Sixt counter rang the counter bell for the attendant, agent asked my name and if anyone else was driving. That was the extent of the conversation until he gave us the parking location. Underwhelming Customer service. The car was covered in scratches, I mean all over the car, like it had been raked all over with sandpaper. I took videos and photos all over the car.....good thing I did. They tried to charge me for a two inch scratch after returning the car. IT WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE IN MY PHOTOS. This review is a little late, but I wanted to make sure that Abdulah at the PHX location received his kudos! I made reservations with both Thrifty and Sixt. The one with Thrifty was for an electric vehicle, which I did not realize that when I made the reservation. The one Sixt was for later in the day. The first person that I approached at Sixt was not rude, but not very helpful either. After looking for another company, I decided to go back to Sixt, but this time I got Abdulah. He was very helpful and did not make me wait, honoring my original reservation. The car was clean and drove fine for my two night stay in the area. We were there to visit a friend who is in an assisted living home dealing with Parkinson's disease and another friend who recently lost her husband. The last thing we needed was more stress in trying to rent a vehicle. Abdulah turned things completely around and salvaged our trip. I'd rent from this company again and when I came to pick up my car they upgraded me, score! Charged me falsely for a dime sized blemish on the bumper. I refused to pay it. They have sent it to a collection agency who have threatened my credit. All I did was rent a car and turn it back in as rented. No dents....a rub on the bumper paint. There were several of these all over the car. Yet they accused me of one on the bumper I did not do. read more

Mess, start to finish. Took almost two hours to get car. Preloaded info online to avoid line and go straight to picking up car, but their system failed,so I had to start at terminal counter. Up charged us for my wife to be able to drive car,then sent us back down to pickup car. After waiting in our third line, receive car assignment and were told to document damage on their app, this took a long time as we wanted to note every little scratch or ding. Note this is extremely important to document every minor defect in the car. Opened the car and it was Smokey, bad enough to wait in our fourth line to get new car. Went through process again. Drove car off for our vacation. When we returned check in went smooth, except, after we returned home we received a preliminary invoice and a final invoice, but also a notice that the car was damaged (cracked windshield). Pictures attached were unclear and supposedly taken while we were standing around re arranging our luggage. Employee checking us in failed to tell us what they found, so we could see it. We did not notice anything and did not recall any rock strike type incident. SixT is still after me months later, filed a claim with my credit card insurance, hopefully they can resolve with SixT. read more
