When I arrived, they did not offer the car I had reserved . They offered a similar car for a discount--$60 less. I agreed to it. After the fact, they reverted to the original price AND tagged on $220, claiming I had "upgraded." Don't rent from Sixt, they said I scratched the wheel on the car and charged me $765. When I disputed it and pointed out I didn't do it and no person checks the car in or out with you. Maybe someone did it after I rented it or maybe one of their employees did it. They said to bad and charged me, they also threatened collections if it didn't get paid. Best customer service I've seen at a car rental. Guy at the front counter was so patient, I forgot to place a movement notice on my card so I had to set that up. Went back still got declined, forgot to up the max on my card, set that up. Went back still declined, 15 minutes later finally got it resolved. Chip on my card was bad, had to mag swipe. I feel bad for not getting the gentleman's name at the rental centers name but he was friendly and helpful. The full size truck I was set to get was wrecked right before I got it. They quickly got me I to a smaller truck but it had a bed cover on it which made it work just as well if not better. The line for thrifty was hours long but I was in and out of sixt in 10 minutes. Writing this review doesn't make me feel good. I've used Sixt many times around the country and always had a good experience. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. We rented an SUV and paid a nice upgrade fee for a Thanksgiving trip. We noticed a tiny hairline crack where the rearview mirror attached to the front windscreen, and we told the rental agency about it when we returned. Mistake. I received a bill for over $700 to replace the windshield that I didn't damage. And then I received the threatening letters to pay after I told them that I hadn't caused the damage. Really Zero Stars for this Company!! So I went on Priceline and tried to book a car for event coming up in 29 days mind you. They were not the cheapest I tried the first Car Rental nothing happened tried again got error can't book this car so went on to next car same thing. Ugh went to Sixt Car Rental same thing!!! I gave up at that point and then I receive 2 email saying I have reservation at both Car Rentals so I go to cancel one of them (Sixth) easy right? NO I CANT GET A HOLD OF ANYONE ON THEIR PHONE LINES IT keeps directing back to their website. Since I booked on Priceline I have no Security Code that Sixt are looking for so I decided to find an email. I email them to cancel reservation and they want to charge me 3 days of my 6 day rental that is 29 day away. I email them back stating Priceline said it was not booked and it was a glitch and I will not be paying that rental. I get a email back from the guy and he says sorry we have to decline your request!!! What you are declining my request to cancel my reservation SCREW THAT. What company does that?? Do not reserve a car with Sixt under any circumstances. It is impossible to cancel your reservation. They ask you to email them to cancel a reservation. I had a feeling this company is one big scam and it is, especially for the fees they charge and ridiculous documentation they ask you to provide when renting a car. The car we received from this place went into limp mode on the freeway the third day we had it. The female manager was very nice and took a days rate off and replaced our car but the reason I'm writing this review was because we were in a very dangerous situation and I don't want others to go through the same thing. My husband who was driving immediately put on the emergency lights and always watches RPMs so we were fortunate enough to pull over in time but it could've easily went differently and someone could've gotten hurt. read more

Because of Covid 19 I was forced to shorten my trip by 24 hours. The airline and my hotel both worked with me and only charged me for my price used. When I spoke to sixt, they said to speak to the manager when I returned the car. Of course the manager wasn't in, so I spoke to the person handling the transaction. I have to echo others on Sixt's lack of a compassionate response on COVID 19. All other companies I worked with went out of their way to help. Sixt did not refund the remainder of my reservation after I had to return my car early. FURTHER, they actually CHARGED ME to return early despite the fact the early return was due to a national emergency. Sixt has really shown they stand apart from other companies as uncaring for their customers. We recently took a trip to PHX and orders a premium car. When shopping i looks at price,deposit, and brand of car! I came across a Mercedes Benz CLA at SIXT being an unknown company I was hesitant but decide If I prepaid there shouldn't be any issues. Upon arriving (on time) I'm told that they do not have a Mercedes I had specifically ordered but the agent would find me another car. After a short wait he provides me with keys to a Chevy traverse. ... wait ordered and paid for a Benz and I'm getting a mom mini van???? "And the good news is he isn't going to charge me extra for upgrading me" I'm not sure about you but a Benz to a chevy is not an upgrade. I asked for any other car and all he could offer is an economy car or the mini van. As we go to pick up our car we notice mustangs, a ranger rover and multiple other premium cars all in the Sixt lot. So I go back upstairs and ask again why I can't have one of the premium cars I had paid for. I was told those cars are for people who have already reserved them! Wait.... I reserved a car and paid in full you didn't hold it for me but now you're holding a car for another guest? NEVER again!!!! read more

Yes, it was my fault that i got robbed by the airport clerk, but it is a customer service responsibility yo solve an issue. I did buy the unneeded liability insurance for $84 and was charged $200 from my credit card. I rent a car thru CarRental for $206 for a week including all taxes and fees.By purchasing the insurance i was charged all taxes and fees again. Please, check carefully your receipts before leaving. Confirming negative experience shared by other users. I thought, "It won't happen to me," but alas it did--a few weeks after my rental I received an invoice for damage which I hadn't caused. The damage in question was a windshield chip that was not visible on the car when I checked it out, but which my wife and I noticed upon exiting the parking garage. So we did what any reasonable person would do, which is to call Sixt customer service and inform them of the damage. The agent on the phone noted that it was already documented in the car's file, and we went on with our lives. Upon receiving the initial claim, I jumped through the hoops of writing an accident report, providing my information, even giving my wife's contact information as a witness. I received a form letter back with no additional detail, simply stating they would be pursuing my claim. I wrote a letter asking Sixt to share detail about how exactly they investigated my claim--for example, did they check the phone records to confirm that we had called customer service, or did they speak to my wife as a witness to validate the information I provided. Nothing. Another form letter, threatening to send the claim to collections. COLLECTIONS. For something I hadn't caused and for which I had done everything right in attempting to inform the vehicle's owner. Sixt clearly has little respect or concern for its clients. Incredibly disappointing. They also try to make it as difficult as possible to actually contact them and speak to a person. Though I finally connected with a couple of polite and semi-helpful people, they were hemmed in by policy (or, presumably, guidance from management to not budge even in the face of clear evidence when claims are unwarranted). Again, shame on me for not trusting the community feedback from Yelp (and EVERY OTHER REVIEW SITE). But mostly shame on Sixt. This company is garbage. Caveat emptor and rent at your own peril--not only may you have a disappointing experience, you may find yourself on the hook and threatened with collections (and your credit report ruined) for hundreds or thousands of dollars of damage you didn't cause. read more

I had been a pretty loyal customer for a few years. I like that their car choices arent the same usual boring sedans of your traditional rental companies. I did a prepay rental far in advance (pre covid) for a family trip but had to cancel due to COVID. Nobody's fault. They allowed me to rebook for a later date. Had to cancel again due to COVID. They took my prepay, fair as I took that rate, but then added fees when I didn't show up. That is uncalled for. Even when inquiring I was told to basically go pound sand. That is just bad business. One of the fastest, inexpensive, and easiest airport car rentals ever! We choose a luxury vehicle for way less than a ford focus. We checked in right away. The other two car rentals are in the same office, so make sure you know there is a separate line for each car rental company. The other rentals had lines out the door. They did easily convince us to upgrade to a Mercedes for $25 extra per day. We received our rental down thE escalators within minutes. Upon return, we drove in and they checked our gas level. They emailed our receipt and we headed to the shuttle bus. It literally took us 2 minutes. We will definitely be back to rent from them again. Customer service was PERFECT! read more

From the start the upstairs check in guy was super nice. During my rental period the check engine light came on. It made me a little nervous so I called Sixt and they said I could exchange it. I believe his name was Luis that handled my call, he said if I called ahead like 20-30 minutes I wouldn't have to wait. Upon returning the rental and picking up the exchange we even got go choose the type of vehicle. Overall great experience for a rental car company I was surprised to see a 2.5 rating. read more

I rented a car at Phx and prepaid through Priceline. Sixt charged me again for the car even after agreeing they were paid by Priceline. They said I had two reservations. An obvious mistake. I thought it was taken car of at the counter. Wrong. After going a few rounds with customer service and Accounting I thought it was resolved. Again Wrong! WARNING!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I should have listened to some of the other reviews. Rented a car here for my sons soccer tournament. Flew in to PHX airport, rented the car and that experience was great. Friendly staff easy check in, but I thought it was a bit strange that when I checked in to get the car, they just pulled it to the front, parked it and had us drive off. No checking for damage, walk through, etc. Car was great, new vehicle, and no issues. Upon return we stopped at a gas station just a few miles from the airport drop off. I walked the car to check it out just to make sure there were no door dings or issues, car was fine and just like when we got it. We got to the check in, a man walks up and greets us in front of the car, looks at the car (did not do a walk around, just stands in front), tells me we are good to go and prints us a recipe. I thought this was odd, I even asked him, that's it? We are good to go? He said yes and we are fine. 2 days later I get an email from the rental company telling me that there are major scratches along the front left fender and dent. I was absolutely shocked. No one during the check in saw ANY damage, let alone dents and scratches. I disputed this and they then sent pictures of the damage that they had taken. I noticed that even in the pictures all the cars that were around the car during check in were not there anymore. Not only that but the damage to the car was significant scratches and damage. It almost appeared like someone dropped a bag or leaned on the car and scratched it up. I fought with this company for months about this and they continued to claim that we damaged the car, even though I NEVER signed any documents stating I acknowledged damage during drop off, they never claimed any damage notice at drop off and all of this was being told to me 2 days later. They are now trying to send me to collections to collect money from me. BEWARE this company will try to scam you. There are other reviews out there showing similar experiences with this company, so I would caution anyone about EVER renting with this shady company. This is the ONLY rental company I have ever dealt with that I have seen this happen. We went to Sixt because one app rated them highly. Everything was great with the rental, the car, check in and check out. The issue was that I was later billed $169 on my Mastercard for additional insurance I had specifically declined. On reviewing the contract, I found that Sixt had charged me for the additional insurance, though I was specific with their rep I did not want it. It pays to read the contract, not assume that the rep has written down the agreement properly. I tried to resolve this with Sixt, Travelocity and Mastercard, but to no avail. read more

Booked our rental thru Expedia and paid them up front. 2 days into our trip, the car would not start. I called the local office where we picked up the rental, the office staff was helpful, and they said they will send a repairman out to see what the problem was. The repairman determined the battery was dead, he jump started it, and suggested we return the car and get another one because our return flight home was 4:00 the next morning. That way we would be more than assured to get to the airport without any further problems. Even though we had events planned and paid for, we took the time to return the car, and again the staff was helpful and gave us another rental. Next day all was well, we returned the car, no one said anything about further charges. When we got home from our trip is where EVERYTHING WENT WRONG. I started getting charges for the repairman to go out and start their car and their dead battery. I explained the situation to their administration office and told them since I lost money on the prepaid events I didn't get to go to, and I am not charging them for that, we should be even. Also, told them that since I have AAA, I could have called them to come out and jump the dead battery and it would have not cost many anything; but since it was THEIR CAR, I thought it best to let them know that the car was not starting; and their employee told me they would send a repairman to see what was wrong. AT THAT POINT, I was told they will take care of it from there. I didn't hear anything from them, UNTIL I GOT A LETTER FROM A COLLECTION AGENCY FOR THEIR CHARGES. I paid the charges so it would not reflect on my credit. WHAT A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS. NEVER EVER WILL I RENT FROM THEM AGAIN. DO NOT use Sixt. First car got in, tire pressure severely low. No big deal, they got us another car. Second car engine coolant gone 1 hr outside Phoenix. No roadside assistance. I was ok adding myself but wanted to ensure this was acceptable from their standpoint. After an hour on hold, finally got approval to add myself. They told me they would reimburse for any payments made towards coolant or if I had to take it in. I paid, gave the sixt guy at the desk the receipt and fast forward a few weeks, no reimbursement. Furthermore, you can't call Sixt. You can only call their "customer support" team located somewhere in SE Asia who are are zero help resolving issues. They have "created tickets" but no call back from branch or anyone. Notice how all other rental cars give you an option to call the branch if concerns? Not Sixt. I have spent more time on the phone just trying to get reimbursed. It is NOT worth it to use these guys. read more

There was no pushy up selling, and bc of that I decided to upgrade. Employees, I believe her name was Nicole, gave me great recommendations on places and sights to eat and see. She answered all questions I had. Drop off was also easy. There is a gas station right by the rental center so if you don't purchase the gas from them, never fear, It's half a mile away. Car was on great condition. I checked everything out prior to leaving to make sure everything was documented so I wasn't surprised with any charges. Everything worked out great! I love sixt! My wife picked up a car for Sixt this morning at the Phoenix Airport. When I arrived at my hotel in Sedona I received an AMEX push notification that indicated my fee was much higher than advertised. I reviewed the bill and it indicated I had been charged a $441 Loss Damage Waiver Fee. I asked my wife about the fee and she stated that the representative indicated that because we weren't accepting Sixt's insurance we were required to pay a Loss Damage Waiver Fee. This is clearly a lie and not the case. I called Sixt on three three times this afternoon and there 800 number hangs up after suggesting you go to the website. The website offers no way of making updates to the reservation. After reading the other Yelp reviews it looks like this is common practice at Sixt. read more

I booked with SIXT because I found a good deal, before checking any reviews & unfortunately I couldn't cancel the reservation without loosing money but I definitely was worried after reading the reviews. Bc of this, I was very very careful upon pick up/drop off. If you do this, you'll be fine. Upon pick up, I was upgraded for free. My one complaint is that the man at the desk did not bother to tell us to mark any scratches/dents/ anything on a sheet which other companies usually point out. Fine, I took a video of the whole car every inch. When I returned the car, I gave the girl the keys & mentioned that I took a video of the car at pick up & there were some scratches on the vehicle. I go to the front where she marked a big circle like she knew exactly where there was a scratch (it was small) however, I showed her the time stamped video & she took it off the file. You need to be careful with them, and be sure to take pictures/videos & request a Sixt employee to do an initial walk through with you. Overall I'm happy with the rental experience! read more

We purchased our rental months in advanced and when we did our scheduled pickup, we were offered a free upgrade due to a veteran discount at no extra cost. We asked continuously if this would be reflected in our invoice as we didn't want to deal with the hassle. We were reassured several times that we wouldn't have any issues and our receipt upon return would not reflect any over charges for an upgrade. Low and behold, we were charged an extra $600 for an upgrade along with other additional charges that were not disclosed to us. When reaching out to customer service, we were promptly returned with a generic response of "you signed the invoice" - very disappointed as we were given the reps name to use if any issues and we were still blown off and dismissed. We were in a car accident on our way to the airport. My wife sustained a concussion and a fractured sternum, so we could not make our trip. We had booked through Priceline and were told that we needed to speak with Sixt directly about a refund. I called them and left several voicemails to explain our situation. I also emailed them. The service rep at the desk Nicole was amazing. She upgraded us to a BMW X3 free of charge when I originally reserved for a RAV4. The printers at the desk weren't working so everything had to be emailed to me. I have to say it was a hassle once I returned the rental. They tried to tell me that the chip on the windshield was my damage. It was clearly in the drivers view and very noticeable so I obviously thought it was previously reported. To my dismay it wasn't. So, I had to go back and forth with emails and photos (thankfully I took them before I left the lot) for them to drop the claim. I even tried calling many times and could never get through, the line kept hanging up telling me to try later. I opted for prepaid fuel because Nicole told me I was getting it at $4.64 a gallon. Nope, it was $4.99 they charged me instead. I was also charged $30 extra on my credit card for no apparent reason. At this point I'm over it and I'll take the loss. Would I rent through them again?
