Beware. Worst experience with a car rental company. Took my 9 and 5 year old on Spring break to Scottsdsle. They overcharged me on my weekly rental, tried to talk to the agent and he said he would fix it upon check out. They didn't have the vehicle I had booked online. No one works at the airport check in to document scratches and small dents they give you the keys and a ticket and you exit. and they dont give you paperwork to document it like the Minnesota location. Week after I received a bill for damage to front and back bumper, total complete scam. Tried multiple times to call their 1800 number and no one a no one answers. One of the worst car renting experiences I've had. I travel quite a bit and this is the first time using Sixt due to the last minute need for a car. It took me over 20 minutes to get through the registration line. Once I got down to the dock to pick up the vehicle I waited another 15 minutes because the care was not ready. It was not inspected by an employee at pick up or drop off. I was charged an additional $25.00 that I was not told about, I prepaid for the rental. Then to make things worse, I just received a damage claim for a scratch on the bumper that did not happen during my rental. Rented an AMAZING BMW 228i from these guys in Phoenix for about $5/day more than boring cars at their cheapo competitors. Bypassed the 30 minute line at Payless and walked right up to the Sixt counter. Car pickup was also fast. Signage in PHX could use a little improvement. Remember to stop at the counter on the main level before proceeding to the pickup area downstairs. If I ever need another car in Phoenix, I will be using this service again! read more

Sounds great to get a Mercedes right? Well not so much if it's stripped down so much that it feels like a KIA. Took me awhile to figure out to tilt my seat back -- because it's a MANUAL turn!! Am I in the 80s? It's beyond ridiculous. The Nav chip is also removed so you can't use it and it's an additional cost to add an adult driver. Sorry SixT, last rental for me. I enjoyed the great, personalized customer service in the previous city but the Phoenix experience, while perfecting professional, just doesn't up make up for the terribly stripped down car for the cost. I was leary after Yelp reviews but was very impressed for these reasons: 1- rented a full size car and was given a brand new Volvo- I understand that's lucky. But girls at service desk were very friendly and helpful. No one was in line before me so I can't say how long I would have waited. Again, maybe just got lucky. 2- drop off line was very quick. As I pulled car in, the Sixt representative was there to check my car in. He was also very helpful and friendly. They do email you a receipt so make sure you know there is no damage when you drop car off. read more

AVOID at all costs!!! My car had a nail in the tire. There was no spare tire. I called and there were two options: 1) Use my AAA membership and fix the tire myself; 2) Bring the car in to Sixt and get a new one; 40 days AFTER the rental, the company sends me a bill for $190 to fix a nail in the tire. Before returning the car, I was assured it would be no trouble. The company is now trying to have me pay to replace their car tires due to a small nail in the tread. Unbelievable!!! I recommend avoiding this company at all costs ... while they may seem cheap upfront they apparently like to screw customers later. read more

We booked with Sixt for our first time this month, our main reason was because a Mini Countrymen or something similar was offered, the idea of a vehicle that sits up high with a sunroof is what pulled us in, when we arrived, much to our disappointment and dismay we were assigned a Toyota Corolla which if you know anything about anything is not similar to a Toyota Corolla, something similar would be a Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Soul, or a Honda CRV. Even though our requests and needs were not met at all the employees at Sixt were not sympathetic or accommodating at all and changed the subject by offering insurance for an extra charge after we had already purchased insurance online, we should have been offered a substantial discount instead. read more

This is my second time renting from Sixt, and both times have been great. I had all my information for the rental put in the computer before I got there and the time from when I got to the counter to downstairs in my car was less than 10 minutes. My car was clean and smelled new, (Volkswagen Jetta) with 8,000 miles on it. I rented for about 1/3rd of the price of the other rental car companies, even though it was a busy weekend with NASCAR and spring training. Upon return car was inspected and I was emailed a receipt. Arrived in Phoenix very late at night, and were tired/beat/sleepy. No line, super friendly staff, mentioned AAA and the man (AJ) behind the counter upgraded us from what my husband had reserved to a Cadillac SUV with 26 miles on it. It's pretty sweet. Watched the girl at the counter next to our agent get berated by an incredibly rude German man who had reserved two cars and wanted to bitch at her about lack of convertible and not the right class of the BMW he wanted. The girl was so generous, offering for him to go down and pick any vehicle, and he still gave her crap. What a douche. Anyway, we had a great experience, and I'll rent from Sixt again. especially now that I know it isn't pronounced "Six-Tee." __________________________________________________ Edit after returning the car: We had to rush like hell to get back to the airport in time for our flight. We were five hours away from Phoenix, and filled up on I-10 at the dairy queen/"the Thing" exit. We used a little less than a quarter of a tank to get back. We followed the directions to the Rental Car Center instead of getting off at the Airport Exit. Looking around everywhere for a gas station - we realized that we had to give up and return the car. When we dropped it off, the kid told us that it was $9 a gallon for not returning the tank full. That disappointed me, since we didn't know that fact. I think the guy didn't tell us when we picked it up that it would be $9 a gallon because it was like 1am and we were tired and we told him we'd return it full. We usually always do. We thought about taking the car back out by my husband said we'd just have to eat it, or miss our flight. And he was right ... if we went and looked for gas, we would have missed our flight even though we were there more than 2 hours in advance (Thanks, TSA for having 1 person on duty and a line on the Friday night of Spring Break in College Town). So while I'm disappointed about the consequences of the gas fee, I'll put this out there to let other people know to expect that. Return your car full. This was overall a really great rental experience. And we put a lot of miles on that car, and we totally enjoyed the Southwest. read more

Worst car rental. The folks in Phoenix asked me to come back and pick up the car after 2 hours of actual booking time. Meanwhile when I was talking with Priceline, they canceled the reservation without my consen. later when I went back to reserve my booking again they denied the service. We had a poor experience with Sixt from the Phoenix airport. We walked up to the counter when we landed and chose Sixt like we did once before. This time we did not want a Mercedes as we had before since that car is not conducive to the gravel rutted roads. With the Mercedes we constantly botttomed out. When we returned with a chip to the windshield, however, we were told not to worry since it happens frequently is that area. Not this time when we rented from Sixt. We asked for an SUV. When we got to the garage and the car, we realized it was way too large for us, so we dragged our luggage upstairs to change to a smaller SUV. This process was long and frustrating. When we finally got the car and drove out of the lower level garage into the sunlight, the first thing we noticed was a small chip in the windshield. Late for our destination and unable to turn around and start all over again, we decided to tell Sixt when the car was returned two weeks later. Imagine our surprise and dismay when we received a bill from Sixt for the window repair and a charge for a day out of service for the car. We have filed complaints and written several letters. We have yet to pay this even though they have dropped the out of service charge. We will never rent from Sixt again! read more

Rented a car that had many issues to them over the wheels they said painted surface only. Then returned the said wheels scratched dishonest steer clear of all locations if you take the risk take pictures of the whole car and of course a video most importantly! Poor. I had the worst experience with sixt, I made reservation for a Mercedes c300 for 300$ for 6 days so once I got there they gave me An ugly car has nothing to do with premium car( Volvo ) , so they charge from 300$ to 672$ extra fees and some other bullshit and tax, bottom line they wanna rip you off, so once I get in the car was stinks like wet dog and I found dog hair on the seats and I'm allergic to animals hair, so I called them and they said " will contact you in 24h" so waste 1 day of my vacation and I made all my friends To wait, so in 48h they called me to exchange the car but was too late cause I was already in Grand Canyon, so after 6 days of nightmare dealing with stinky uncomfortable car , I returned the car at 4pm but I waited in the line for like 25 - 30 minuets cause only one guy who was working in the parking lot where you return the cars he checked the gas and mileage so after I got back home I found they charged me around 800$ for 40 minuets late ( cause there only 1 guy who was working) so they charge extra 1 day, plus they charge me 107$ cause was under the full tank with like 10$-15$ and 60$ for side street service which I don't even know about. Bottom line if you book your car for 200$ once you rerun the car you will end paying 600$-700$ and if u come late 31 minuets they will charge you 1 day extra. They just wanna rip u off! Sixt is not reliable. Sixt rents cheap cars and then cancels the reservation without caring about the customer. You should look for honest companies because Sixt will claim a failure in their system to cancel your reservation and ask you to make a new reservation at higher rates. Despicable company! I rented from them on two occasions in philly. The process to get a car went fine. I found myself wishing I could just drive home from on of my trips due to major flight issues, but they have only a couple of rental locations and neither would have worked for me. The thing I found most annoying is that on my second trip they began calling to try to setup a corporate or discount type of account for me. Worst service i have ever experienced. Adriana treated me like a criminal. First she accused me of having a "fake" card when she was shown it wasn't "fake" that it was a Citibank debit card that is converted to metal she still continued to do her "research" she was googling what metal cards are. She then said i don't believe you and I'm not renting to you and refused to rent us a vehicle. My fiancé then handed her his debit card and she proceeded to charge extra fees of $65 on the vehicle and charged us a higher rate because it was now a "new" reservation. When i called her out on it she said she wasn't going to deal with fags and i could call corporate on Monday. I recorded the entire confrontation as I'm sure she will deny it but you can't deny whats recorded. read more

Rented a new BMW 328i for cheaper than enterprise. Great experience and quick. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 vs 5 is because of a few reasons. 1) lack of locations. If you are coming into the airport this is no big deal but I had to plan everything out on how I was going to get there and get back since I live on the west side. Their competitors are readily available throughout the valley. 2) barebones features. Now I know they have GPS guaranteed and satellite radio as options but they are pricey. Plus if you are renting a luxury car, it should come standard. My rental had no Mac, no satellite radio, and no backup cam. In fact I even sprung for the sat radio but when I got the car it wasn't available (they did refund that back to me through). With all that said I would definitely consider renting from there again, I just wish they were a little more equipped. read more

The worst experience ever, and I have rented a car before with them and with other companies. Just to summarize, I took a vacation trip to Los Angeles from Phoenix Arizona during Thanksgiving. The car they gave me from sky harbor had bad brakes when they knew I had to drive six hours. I had to trade that car out on Thanksgiving day. Thank God they were open and that I made it there safely with my family to which the next Sixt company told me that they would give me a safer car this car had tire pressure warning, so I had to remove all of my items again from this car now to the next car that they would find for me. This final vehicle was fine on the roads of Los Angeles until I jumped on the freeway to head home only to realize this car also had bad brakes, I complained to both facilities and I also called.Finally was able to make contact with somebody only to realize they didn't even complete my report. They left so many of the things out which they only provided me a 30% discount. What a joke !Meanwhile, my life as well as my families is in danger? I then received an email from their supervisor Jazzmin Grant who did absolutely nothing to help or fix but just sent me a receipt and expects me to pay for this craziness, she also ignored my emails when I responded to her, all of them!I then was on the phone with them today for an hour, and I got a supervisor named Red who apparently asked me what I would like done when I feel like if you're a supervisor at this company, you should be compensating me for these things that have not been said in my rental agreement or at least know how to handle a situation like this. He rushed me off the phone and insisted transferring me back over to the man I was originally talking to saying that he could create a ticket for me so now I am again waiting who knows for how long for who knows what. I will let you guys know they did try to send me an automated email saying that I have $100 voucher to use with the company again but I also mentioned to the supervisor WHY would I choose renting a car from you again if you guys again if you put my life in danger? Terrible company that has no customer service & no point of contact if your reservation goes wrong. I had plans for a trip to Italy and I decided to book my rental from Sixt. Just 10 days before my trip, I had an unfortunate medical emergency involving a serious surgical operation which made me cancel all my travel plans. Sixt refused to cancel my reservation when I reached out to them, 10 days before the pickup date & they are still charging me 400 euros for a service I can not and won't use due to my medical condition being critical. I have tried reaching out to them to talk them over the phone, they only respond to emails saying they are not authorized to do anything but also they won't escalate my request. They have claimed they raised a ticket and I would get a callback, after a week literally nobody called me back. No other rental company treats their customers like this, this is ridiculous. read more

Renters beware of damage scam. Wife an I each rented cars April 1 to April 5 2015 for spring break. They didn't have cars on time. Rental check in and car inspection was lame. Young guy said "don't worry about any little dings or scratches." I photographed the significant ones on the spoiler and rear of the car which he said were not even in the system. Upon checkout with less than 200 miles on each car, the guy walked right up to my car and put his finger on the windshield and said you made a rock chip all the way through the glass. I argued with him about it and showed him all the little dings in the glass. He said ok ok probably just poor light when you got the car and didn't see. My wife who was 10 min later pulled up and I warned her about a possible scam. He walked right up and "found a rock chip all the way through windshield." There was nothing other than same as any car in their lot. When he saw me walk over he said he was just doing his job. I complained to 20 yr old at desk about the scam. She got a little nervous. Added a second driver and was told by the ticket agent and corporate reservations that once the second driver departed that they could be removed from the contract since we were staying longer. Both lied and we were charged for the full stay. Evidently even supervisors didn't know what the policy was. Never renting from them again because you just can't trust them. I have rented cars out of Phoenix in the summer many times, but never have I received such AMAZING service. Zach, a customer service rep at PHX Sky Harbor, treated me with kindness, care and quick 'pain-free' service. I wasn't sure what type of car I was wanting to rent just knew I wanted it to be fun. He set me up with the MOST fun car I have ever driven! He walked me through the process with ease making sure I could get a jump on rush hour traffic. That is wroth its weight in GOLD (especially when it's 110 and you have traveled all day). I will defiantly be a starting with Sixt for all our of my car rental needs due to ZACH and his plain AWESOMENESS! Everyone should take a lesson in customer service from him. Well done! read more

One word: HORRIBLE! This is the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental company! I had three cars in four days due to technical issues with their vehicles. The air conditioning in the first vehicle stopped working and left me driving around in 108 degree heat in Phoenix with no air. The second vehicle had an engine malfunction that had I gotten on the freeway would have probably ended in tragedy, I hate to think about it. This company is not taking care of their cars! Rented: MXP Milan Oct 2018. Unlike all other rental car companies Sixt does not close your account when you return the car. This allows them to make damage charges weeks or months after the return. I am now in a dispute with them over two 5-10mm scratches on the alloy wheels. This was so small along with other wear on the 12,000Km car I did not flag the issue when collecting. This is just an excuse to make an unwarranted charge. In my opinion what they are doing is fraudulent. read more

if i could give zero stars i would! this team charged my card a full $536 without returning my deposit. when i spoke to customer rep kimberly, she stated someone from phoenix office accidentally closed my invoice and i got charged the full amount. i finally received my refund of what was correct after 2 weeks but the invoice was still incorrect to what actually happened and what was on my hard copy receipt. then they have put a hold on my card for $122 and i've been emailing customer service for over 2 weeks now to release it. last i spoke to someone was before that and they didn't have any record of this charge in their system. this is still on hold on my account from them! they are refusing calls now too so i can't speak to someone to get this straight! do not rent from them it's not worth the headache after you return car! i returned to sandiego and in the invoice they sent, it had me return to phoenix, completely off!!! do not rent from them! i will be leaving reviews on everything i can because it just seems like a scam. waiting until someone doesn't care no more, then charge it! idc if there is a system glitch or if it's because of covid, there is no reason to at least send a follow up courtesy email letting a customer know they are working on it. nope they are just ignoring it! i will never rent from them again, and remind you this was my first time in san diego and first time renting from them! this company is a joke and seems if they shut their phones to not receive calls, maybe because they have charged other peoples cards what was not originally agreed or have other holds like mine as well. do not rent from them! save you the hassle! give me back my money!!!! read more

I had never heard of SixT rental before my trip to Phoenix. Made the reservations on line, very easy to do. They have a booth at the car rental off site location near Sky Harbor airport. It was a very easy check out process and convenient to get the car returned. The only issue I'm having is I should have paid more attention when I signed the receipt during the check out since it appears I signed up for 3 days of insurance coverage and I never do that. So I'd recommend to others to really read that thoroughly before signing. I don't recall being asked if I wanted the additional coverage by the gal behind the counter and I was surprised to see the additional charge on my email receipt. So my first time experience using a new company hasn't been without problems. read more

Awful experience at PHX. Booked a luxury XCAR (BMW 5 series) and was only informed that there was no car available, not even a single luxury car available at the time. I took a loaner car for lunch as the agent said likely cars would be returned soon by the time I finish lunch. When I returned from lunch again there is no car available and this time it was a different agent. Worst of all there was no estimate on when my booked class would be available. Had to cancel the reservation as I have received a 5 classes downgrade from Sixt (I am a Sixt Platinum member, paid for a BMW 5, got a cheap trim Toyota Camry, the plastic interior is cheap as hell). Luckily I could still book a car at the airport with another company for $80 with everything included for 2 days. (Comparing to spend $140 for two days on a Camry, this is a sweet deal). I think I got lucky in this case. I could switch to another company with a much cheaper rate and a much better car (pretty new Yukon XL 7 seaters 4WD). 1 hours of time wasted at the airport rental car center though. Obviously, there is issues with fleet management with Sixt, plus that Sixt does not have much advantage on prices nowadays. Likely, I would avoid this company in the future myself. read more

I was pleasantly surprised renting from Sixt when I went to Phoenix. The lines at another car rental agency were extremely long (someone told us she had an hour and a half wait time), but we only waited about 15 minutes to see an agent at Sixt. The agent was friendly, but the process took a little longer than I would have liked due to having to figure out which vehicle to give us. We received a brand new SUV, larger than I had booked, which was very clean and in great shape. The return process was also speedy. Only grading four rather than five stars due to being charged $65 for an additional driver, who is my spouse. Shouldn't your spouse be free? I will be calling to ask about this. read more

Watch the Phoenix counter agents like a hawk. I asked for an upgrade to an SUV. The agent said they had one available at the same price...great... so I thought. Then he proceeded to tell me that the LDW coverage was the same price. I declined the coverage verbally. I never get LDW coverage since my AMEX covers any damage. Well, stupid me, I signed the agreement without seeing the addl LDW had been added. $169.00 mistake. I emailed Sixt and their reply was that I signed for it. They refused to credit the charge. BUYER BEWARE I booked a car for a trip coming up in September 2018 through Hotwire. After finding out Sixt was the company the car would be coming from I started reading reviews, another customer had mentioned they were told they weren't allowed to take the car out of state. I live in Phoenix and planned to get the car from Phoenix airport and drive to CA and back, returning the car back at the airport. As it turns out in the very very fine print hidden on Sixt's website it states that if you are a resident picking the car up from your local airport you are not permitted to take the car out of state, in order to take advantage of the geographical boundaries (which are typically the bordering states) you are required to show proof of itinerary that you do not live in the area. If you do take the car out of state when you are a resident they charge 50 cents a mile for the entire trip, had we left without knowing all this we would have been charged over $1000 extra. This is deceitful and sneaky practice. I am so glad I figured this out before we actually went to pick up the car. Luckily Hotwire were able to fully refund my purchase. I would never recommend this company, so dishonest and conniving. Hopefully this helps at least one other person from making the same mistake and being duped out of hundreds of dollars. Sixt - how about trying to be a little more upfront and honest instead of scamming people out of money. read more

I have used different rental services and Sixt has proven to be one with most pleasant experience so far in both check-out and check-in process. Adriana was really helpful during the car selection process. She is friendly and cheerful, I was really surprise because it was really early that most other reps wouldn't even care to look up at your face. She offered me some upgrades, but it was a good conversation as I didn't feel the burden of sale pressure or scared tactics as I have experienced in other rentals.
