Tables & booths are available. - "Honored guest" menu is available - that's for ages 60+ - Our order was brought out in less than 15 minutes CONS - We needed 2 high chairs. Both were a bit sticky/dirty. - The food was just okay to me... We arrived at around 7 p.m. Not too busy. Maybe filled at 50% capacity. OUR MEALS Complimentary cheese toast is served at each table. It was okay. For our 2-year-old, I ordered the endless salad bar from the kid's menu ($5.99). This is a steal! Not only does this include the usual vegetables, dressings, and toppings for a healthy salad, but also some fruit, soups, hot appetizers (her favorite was the mac n cheese), and desserts. She enjoyed pretty much everything I gave to her. The husband ordered a steak with fries. While he really liked the piping hot fries, he only complained that his steak was a bit fatty. He had a Heineken (22 oz. for $7.25) too, so he was fine. I ordered the grilled shrimp skewers (2, but you can order up to 3). The shrimp itself was a little bland and somewhat overcooked - slightly tough to eat. Hot butter was served alongside them in a plastic cup. The shrimp was also served over a delicious rice pilaf. I was hoping a few more scoops of it was on my plate because it was really good and our 1-year-old really liked it too. Finally, this plate came with my choice of a side. I chose the baked potato with everything I could add to it - butter, sour cream, onions... I added an endless salad bar to my meal for our 1-year-old for $4.99. Our girls both had a 14 oz. milk ($2.29 each). You can ask for low-fat or whole. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE Based on my experience tonight, (9/5/15) all of Downey's restaurants could take a cue from these guys & gals. This was my second time coming to this location and I have to say I've been disappointed both times. My biggest problem is the food from the salad bar. I usually just go with the whole buffet bc it's easier and gives me more options. Unfortunately both times I've came here the food has been cold,No flavor or watery. I have found some stuff I will eat but most of the food is just bad. I didn't give it a 1 star because I will admit the service was amazing. The employees are kind,fast and just overall nice. The place wasn't packed both the times I've been here so it is nice and quiet and easy to get around the buffet. Food was horrible- not fresh, as it seemed cooked, food was just re-warmed before serving. The fish platter had fish that was dry and not fresh. It was no tartar sauce served with the meal, and when I asked for tartar sauce, they said they were out. That is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. there's an ordinary condiment for fish. Also, they had old potato wedges at the bar. They were hard and dry, and when I asked for a fresh batch to be cooked, I was told we're out. Personally, I do not believe they're out of potato wedges, I believe the cooks were too lazy to cook a new batch until dinner time. Overall, the service was awful. When I was brought ranch dressing, it exchange for tartar sauce, it was served to me in a cup that was dripping on the side with ranch dressing, running down and dripping all over the place, and it was handed to me by a guy, who had just rubbed his hand through his hair. How gross and unsanitary is that???. The ambience was not nice either, it seemed very plain. The temperature was too low. I used to come to this Downey location many years ago and last week decided to try it again as we have always been fans of the salad bar... Last week we noticed the quality of the food was not great but we got there an hour before closing so we figure they couldn't replenish the salad bar. And the gentleman who was taking orders and serving the tables at the same time was very nice , so that made up for the dissatisfaction with the food quality. This place was ok, the tables that were used were small and I usually don't like it when there isn't anything down on the cement because of the oil stains. There were several flies that you had to beat off of you while sitting. The waitress seemed to have a difficult time with several of the customers. I asked for a clean knife and she forgot so I sat for 15 mins until a man who looked like the manager or owner came out and seemed to take control. If I could leave negative stars I would. I am still livid by the treatment of Andrea, the cashier. My 91 year old grandmother was craving their baked potato, I entertained this idea since she's always had a great time at this location. Unfortunately, despite ordering three full priced meals; a lobster & steak and two steak and shrimp meals. Which by the way, would've covered one of us (my mother, and sister) giving their baked potato to my grandmother, I still ordered a full salad bar dish JUST in case my grandmother was craving anything else. Again, only came to this location for their baked potato, their cashier, Andrea, had the audacity to say "so, you're ordering three meals for four people?! You cannot share any of the buffet items" to which I clearly stated that this was a "just in case" order, she still had the audacity to reiterate her statement, I also purchased a couple of beverages and a wine for me included. Once we sat down, the staff was watching us like a hawk. This is disgusting behavior, as I only ordered the buffet dish as an alternative if my grandmother wanted anything else. It is very unfortunate that this location has just lost valuable customers! I didn't even finish my steak or shrimp. I asked for a medium well and they gave me a straight up rare piece, I asked them for a medium well and they simply grabbed my steak and returned it to me heat up. I was going to have a good dinner with my family but the staff made me feel horrible about sharing my food with my daughter. I wasn't allowed to share absolutely anything because I had to pay in the beginning for my daughters plate too even though she's only 8 and barely eats much. I felt really uncomfortable because server kept looking at me. They even came to charge me a fee for sharing my food. Also the steak taste HORRIBLE. I love this Sizzler. It is always so clean and staff is friendly. Today (Sunday) I was shocked to listen to a customer yell and scream at the manager Dana. He used many racial slurs and forced the owner to intervene. Felt sorry for Dana and the people that had to listen to this guy ramble on about something. my daughter and I went to have dinner at the sizzler today 2-25-2024 5:00 pm we waited in line for a good 20 minutes and when we got to the register to order the cas told us that we were unable to order food because the cook was overwhelmed with orders and that we order anything unless we were going to order just the salad bar so we decided to go ahead with the salad bar paid 42.89 for 2 people with drinks we get to the salad bar and there's not much to select everyone in the restaurant we're Hispanic with full meals and not to mention the restaurant is very small so I suggest you not waste your time with this place if you're not hispanic seems like a racial business and should be investigated my refund has not been returned yet. read more

My family and I came here today to have our normal Sunday brunch after church. We are a large party of 18 when we get together. The manager Pedro was very nice and accommodating. Not only did they open up a new space for us to all sit together but he also went out of his way when he heard I mistakenly ordered the wrong chicken. We've been coming to this Sizzler with our kids since we moved to Downey in 2014. The previous manager/owner was so invested in his restaurant, he would always be there, working and making sure his food and service were the best. As a mom, it was the best restaurant we could go to as the waitresses were always so super sweet to my toddler. They would bring extra plates and just entertain him so I could eat. Unfortunately, times have changed and that owner/manager is no longer at this Sizzler. They now have two people managing the restaurant that need help. We went in yesterday and the floors were so sticky, it was nasty. I had to clean my shoes when I got home. There was a female manager at the register and she was so mean and unprofessional. It was clear she didn't know how to use the new register and was even having trouble adding bacon to a burger. When I pointed out that one of the meals got a free drink, she was so confused, called it an old menu and didn't honor what it stated. She took it away and just seemed flustered. I have always ordered a plain iced tea, and this time she said they didn't have that, only raspberry iced tea. When I informed her that I've always ordered that, she practically made me feel like I was lying. I do need to say our server was super nice, but not very attentive. I ordered the salmon with baked potato. Usually, the fish comes on a bed of rice, with lemons, and tartar sauce on the side. This time, they just brought out the fish with the potato. They said they were out of tartar sauce and that only the shrimp skewers came on rice. I've literally had the same thing for the past 10 years here. I know how it comes served. It looked so unappetizing. My husband ordered the chicken club. When they asked what kind of cheese, he said none. It ended up coming out with cheese and without the bacon like a regular club sandwich is supposed to have. This Sizzler is just sad at this point. So Sizzler should be like a national treasure, kind of like in the same vein as Denny's or like Bob's Big Boy. The restaurant chains that have stood the test of time. What makes this one so special? The menudo. Nope. Not kidding! My mom is obsessed with it. It is home made, and full of all of the good stuff. After talking to the owner, we found out that the menudo is a labor of love made by the cooks every day. This place is nostalgic and classic, and the owner is incredibly kind. Service is great. We told whatever worker that was standing around about the salad bar, and each and everyone said "okay, I'll let someone know" we laughed at a point because they all kept saying the same thing. The pasta was hard, the chicken nuggets were old and HARD as a rock from staying heated, the chicken wings were guess agin? HARD. Salad? BROWN. We couldn't believe it!!!!!!! I myself ordered The steak and lobster and that even tasted bad! Cold, rubbery, and tasted days old or something. It's NEVER tasted like this in West Covina. I complained to the waitress and she could give a crap less. I never thought I'd feel robbed after eating at one of my favorites restaurants.
