Visited the new and improved sizzlers in Downey. Under new management from what it looks like inside with new updated but still old fashion style. The food honestly was okay ordered salad bar with endless shrimp and steak. The salad bar could have upgraded their menu but still the old items. Stay away from chicken wings they were overly cooked tasted like cardboard. The chowder soup was just all cream. My wife and I came here and were absolutely blown away. Erika, our server, was incredible. Super attentive, always checked in on us, and did an amazing job juggling a very busy restaurant. Food was also excellent. I hadn't been to sizzler in a long time and had forgotten how good it was. Fried shrimp and steak can't be beat. Nor can the famous salad bar. They've also updated the decor to have a retro style, which was pretty cool. Highly recommend for a quick good dinner!! read more

I had not been here for at least 10 years. Let me tell you what I observed. The young girl at the register could not understand a simple request. My girlfriend had to remind me that these young people are not used to communicating. Only pushing buttons . I had to ask the girl three times what were the sides? We were happy to see the place remodeled and under new ownership, but we will not be returning. We had visited this location a handful of times under the old ownership and the salad bar / hot bar was great, but unfortunately I can't say the same under new ownership. What should be clam chowder has no clams only potatoes, all three soups have no lids, the nacho cheese looked like watered down discolored liquid cheese, the chicken nuggets were cold. My husband said the pasta just tasted odd and pasta sauce was horrible. I don't know how to explain it, but mostly everything in the salad bar just does not look inviting, fresh, colorful, good quality ) : I honestly would not mind paying more money for an all you can eat salad bar as long as the food tastes good and is fresh. A gentleman who had just been there since the new ownership too, passing by our table, happened to ask us if we liked the food, We said no! He said he ordered steak and was very disappointed. His waiter had taken his plates before he was done eating, which coincidentally our waitress did the same. The gentleman and we were very disappointed with our experience under this new ownership. Our waiters, Lisa, was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, she was so pleasant and attentive. She kept our toast coming without us even having to ask and went above and beyond by placing an order for shrimp ahead of time so it would be ready right when we wanted it. Unfortunately, not all sizzlers are created equal. Tried this remodeled location. Haven't been to this one in years & now I know why. The food was like cafeteria food. This location is small & packed. I will be trying the nostalgic fish & chips spot next door. I'll be sticking to the awesome Fullerton Sizzler. read more

The food was good but the service is terrible.we have gone twice and we went the second time just to see if the service was better. I hope it gets better with time and that it's just temporary. We sat at a corner table near the restrooms. We asked for our bread multiple times but it was never brought to the table. We also asked for ketchup and it never came so I had to get up and go ask for ketchup because the tables don't have any. The waitress would keep attending to other tables at the front of the doors next to the salad bar. At the end I had to get up and ask for a plate to go because she never came with anything. One word to describe this place... terrible. The price didn't match the quality of the food. The lobster, fried shrimp, and burger tasted bland. The ambience of the restaurant is awful. The moment you step foot inside you feel uncomfortable because of how cramped, messy, and noisy everything and everyone is. Prices have gone up and the quality has come down. Second visit that the ice cream machine isn't working. There wasn't chocolate syrup at the station either. Had to ask for cheese toast , second set of plates and extra napkins. They seem to be under staffed. Our waiter tried but seemed incredibly overwhelmed. TL;DR: Friendly staff, but food isn't going to blow you away. Good spot for a quick lunch though via salad bar. Yearning for more? 1/2 The burger I ordered was decent. The patty itself was on the bland side but it was assembled with care and the toppings were all fresh and tastier than the patty. Fries it came with were good. Salad bar offerings are average and pretty limited. I made a beef hard-shelled taco and had a salad and soup on the side. Taco was decent. Veggies were fresh on salad. Quality of the soups was pretty low, but the clam chowder was edible and somewhat enjoyable. Their menudo was gross. Just be aware they don't strive for quality in the salad bar section as much as they do with their entrees. Makes sense. Expenses: 0/1 Prices aren't terrible, but I just personally didn't think it was worth it on my visit. My meal which was a burger, baked potato, drink and an added salad bar came out to about ~22. I'm picky with burgers and steaks so next time I'd probably just stick with the salad bar and eat random items from there. It's just fun to walk around and mix and match food. Came here today to try it out after the remodel. Honestly not great at all. First of all when ordering the guy which I'm assuming is the manager was texting while taking our order , very unprofessional on his part. The bill was $50 for the prime rib burger + salad bar & shrimp skewers & 2 fountain drinks. I don't mind paying but the food wasn't great AT ALL or fresh. The burger tasted like mystery meat couldn't get more than 3 bites in. Disappointed. The fries salty. Chicken nuggets were COLD & just tasted like reheated McDonald's nuggets. The shrimp skewers were okay at most nothing special . Won't be coming back due to the bad food quality. The only good thing about this place was the waitress (Lisa) . The last time my family and I came here to eat for dinner was like something out of a training video on how NOT to treat customers. It was seriously piss poor service on a whole other level. So my stepdad ordered us three salad bars and for some reason he decided to tip them beforehand which is probably the main reason in hindsight that we were treated with blatant disregard. Basically they had ZERO incentive to cater to us because they already had a generous tip secured, you would think they would be more inclined to be helpful and attentive but in this case it had the opposite effect. We waited over 45 minutes just to get the garlic cheese toast that came with our order, every time my stepdad tried to ask for the bread or a soda refill the rude waiters would either totally ignore him as if he were a ghost or tell him in a nasty tone that they heard him already. So they heard him yet continued to bypass our table without bringing what was requested? On top of that, never once did they offer us a set of clean plates in case we wanted more food from the buffet. Meanwhile, they were catering to the two families seated next to us like crazy. Literally stopping by every 5 minutes asking if they needed salt or pepper and if everything was good. They were treated like royalty and we were treated like paupers. My stepdad had to get up and go to the cashier to finally get a refill on his soda, it was ridiculous. The garlic cheese bread was the only palatable food we got, their soups were below par. Clumpy and tasted like ocean water was used to make them, way too salty and I was surprised because usually they are very good. The spaghetti noodles were floating around in lukewarm water and so soggy they were falling apart. I felt like I was eating worms picked up off the ground in a rain puddle somewhere. They were not replenished obviously, just like most of the food in their salad bar. They leave most of the trays almost empty for long periods of time, did the chefs fall asleep in the back? The ice cream machine was broken and they only had like two or three pastries to choose from. I will never come here again, the manager and employees should be ashamed of themselves. I hear they are currently closed for renovations, they should take a much needed course on customer service because no customer in their right mind would want to be treated so poorly and like a nuisance after paying alot of money on overpriced mediocre food unless they are into sadism. read more

We had heard about this Sizzler being redone so our expectations were high. The first thing is there not technically handicap sure the parking is but we had to go through the exit because the front door has a big step and you can't exactly roll a wheelchair over it. Right when we walk in the manager or whoever he is was extremely rude. Second is the server only comes around only one time then you have to flag her down for more bread or anything else. I had ordered a 8oz steak with fries medium rare and onions. When I got the plate the onions didn't looked grilled at all was extremely white and the steak was the worst steak I have seen. When I went to cut it it was fat and had no color whatsoever looked so grey. I didn't eat it because I honestly didn't want to get food poisoned so I just ate the salad bar and even that was so messy. At the end I asked the manager if I could have a box to take my mother's food home and he seemed to have an attitude about giving my mother a to go box. I won't be returning to this location and it's disappointing that such a "new place " can't make the food right and have bad customer service. read more

Just visited the re-built, newly restored, grand opening of Sizzler in Downey. Very sad to say it was very disappointing in at least two of the above mentioned categories, food and service. First, it took 40 minutes standing in line to order our food . While standing in line the AC wasn't directed towards the front of the restaurant. It was sweat dripping. After ordering and sitting down I went to the "new" salad bar. The choices seemed to be half of what was offered previously. The leaf lettuce was browning as you watched, the Caesar salad wasn't cold or even cool . And since the salad has egg in it this seems to be a necessity.. my Malibu chicken was hot however the Swiss cheese on top wasn't. On the positive side, they do have a soda machine . And still have the ice mild machine. Sorry Sizzler of Downey, maybe you can work out the kinks in the near future. Best of luck. read more

The food okay. I just got the salad bar, but my servers gave me a free drink, and they were quick with my cheese toast refills. Chicken wings were lukewarm, carnitas were dry, decent Mexican rice, and beans. My strawberry lemonade wasn't too sweet, but also refreshing. Service was friendly. They played the same Taylor Swift song twice. Clam chowder was seasoned okay. A little more thick than I remembered. Big parking lot at a shopping center. read more

The short bald Hispanic man has kind of an attitude. I made a to go order online. He never told me my order didn't have the desert I ordered and he didn't offer me a substitute. I've made the same order before and if they're out of the desert they substitute it or at least tell me. I asked for extra bread since I paid for the bread and he said it's whatever you get in there. Horrible customer service. I come here pretty regularly and this was the first time I didn't get good service. If you don't want to work with people you shouldn't be in the restaurant business. read more

Was super excited to try this sizzler especially when they're under NEW management. But that quickly came to a halt when I noticed no server really is attentive to the OFFSIDE of the sizzler. My husband and I were out for a date & we' had made time to go eat (or so we thought) the server(she never introduced herself sadly but can describe her by saying she had bottom blue colored hair) she took awhile to bring out my lemonade(they bring it out to you since there's no refill)& when I mentioned it she said "I have it ready just need to bring it out" ok cool. We asked for 4 cheesy breads and she only brought out ONE! For TWO people lmao my husband and I SPLIT A PIECE OF BREAD! That sounds crazy to me! Hahaha she claimed they were making more and would bring out the breads but NEVER DID. Guess they were never ready. Ok that's ONE thing, next thing was that my EXTRA WELL steak had blood coming out of it. My shrimp was cold upon arrival too. They offered to make me another one but by this time it was an hour and plus that we have been there waiting and "eating". I kindly told them I had a babysitter who charges if I'm late which I wasn't expecting to be so I wouldn't be able to wait. They comped that meal and thank goodness cus it's the LEAST they can do. Took my Sister for dinner after shopping and she absolutely LOVED IT! Had no idea of the choices that were available and she was like a kid in a candy store. The service was excellent and the staff was great. The lady that helped us was so down to earth and provided great customer service. I hate that I didn't get her name. More importantly I'm appreciative that despite it being an hour before they closed the service was great from start to when we walked out.
