My husband and I went there for dinner this evening it's been a while since we've been there. We were highly disappointed the food was nasty! Very clean and attentive staff. Came here on a Wednesday night and it was not very busy. We got our food quickly and our waitress Ana was great at making sure we were ok and had refills on our drinks. I had the small plate Italian chicken and it was delicious. A tiny bit on the dry side but the seasoning was great and I added lemon for juicyness. The baked potato was spot on with all the fixings. Got the salad bar as well but didn't eat too much from it other than one plate. The staff sang to two birthday patrons while we were here and that was nice. They even made a nice little ice cream treat for them. I think sizzle has improved since the last time I was here, keep up the good work . read more

Went to the Sizzler on Shaw Ave , sorry to say will never be going back, food was terrible, baked potato was not cooked all the way, asked for medium rare steak, got almost well done. Hamburger was dry they give you 1 packet each Mayo, ketchup, mustard needless to say was awful. We were there for 2 1/2 and not because we took that long to eat because it took them forever to bring our food out. Used to be my favorite place , going to have to find a new place. Pretty good, but whoever is in charge of making sure the buffet food is replenished keeps dropping the ball at dinnertime. Some of my family members really like this place so we go often. (Grandpa). We usually have family that like the buffet, but its very common at dinner to just sit and wait for hot food to be replenished. We've waited as long as 15-20 minutes for them to put out chicken, onion rings etc. in the buffet. We've had family that finishes their steak dinners before the family eating from the buffet can get their food. This is crazy! Someone needs to monitor this better. Crap...crap...crap..... This place use to have good decent food. But now it's awful and sad, being a chef make me wonder how low you have to be to work in the kitchen. For 37.41 I left hungry. Let's start with the salad bar. Dirty chicken. Old meatballs. And over cooked macaroni and pasta. Taco bar....turkey meat. Are you kidding me. Once or twice a decade you need a firm reminder that something may sound good in principle, but fails spectacularly in practice. I felt like a salad but was pretty hungry so I thought "Why not try Sizzler?" Well know I have an answer. Let's start at price. At more than $16 for the salad bar with a drink, you'd get a better value at any of the literally dozens of other options within a 5 minute drive. For that price you'd expect to get things like tomatoes at the salad bar, but no (to be fair, diced tomatoes are over in the taco section, but who wants tiny diced tomatoes in a salad). Instead they stock the bar with "craft salads" with options like blue cheese strawberry salad. Yes, it makes me sad just to type that. But worst of all, they were out of ranch dressing. Ranch. Dressing. Moving over to "hot" food. The clam chowder had literally nothing solid in it. No clams. No potatoes. Nothing. Do you like your potato wedges chewy and cold? You're in luck. Your onion rings cold and bland? Ditto. Your chicken wings cold, tasteless, and mostly breading? Bingo. Your tortilla chips stale? Your taco meat mushy? If so, you will love your options. Here's hoping I remember to read my own review and benefit from hindsight sometime in the 2020s when I ask myself "Why not try Sizzler?". read more

Would give this place higher marks for the food alone but this is an overall review and the atmosphere is lacking. Came here with my husband on Mother's Day. As expected there was a pretty long wait but the line moved fairly quickly. You order from an overhead menu of entrees at the counter. You also get your drinks and pay at the same time. Considering the bill for two people was $50 I feel like the price point deserves some table side attention but this is more of a buffet style joint. I got the 12oz ny strip with baked potato and the hubs got the combo steak and jumbo fried shrimp. The steak with the combo is a 6oz Tri tip. We also both added the salad bar with our entrees for $6 each and if you're hungry you should get this. In fact, you should get this if you're not that hungry because I think it makes the place what it is. You are shown to a table by a seater after you pay. Not sure if this is always the case or if it was only because it was so busy. After we were seated by the edge of the line of starving people queued up to order and waiting to get in, we headed for the salad bar. Not just salads and the usual fixings. There's a taco bar, spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and I believe even chicken wings. There were also soups and a dessert station including soft serve ice cream. The salad was great, very fresh. The thousand island dressing is sooooo good!!! Real bacon not the fake bits stuff. The Mac and cheese tastes like stoufers in the best possible way. My main entree, which came incredibly fast, looked great! There were nice dear marks on the steak and it was cooked to a perfect medium temperature as requested. My baked potato was huge and so soft. It was loaded up with butter, sour cream and scallions. I tore into it immediately and couldn't have been happier. The steak was so delicious it honestly tasted like it had been butter basted. Tons of flavor, really great. I literally ate my entire plate except a bit of fat that lined the steak. Somehow I saved room for desert and it was ok. It's a small soft serve bar. My husband got the small serving of strawberry shortcake and he loved it. If this was a more intimate, less noisy and obnoxious atmosphere I would definitely come here often for the grub. I placed an order online via Yelp to be picked up an hour and a half later. When we arrived, my wife and I waited in the only line to the registers where we were supposed to pick up our order. I let the employee know I was there to pick up an online order to go and he asked if I was picking up for door dash or grub hub. I was not wearing any kind of insignia, I didn't and delivery bag for any of the food delivery companies, etc. and just let him know that I was the customer. He started walking around looking for the order, and after about 5 minutes, he informed us that the order hadn't been put into their system correctly and the wait would be 15-20 minutes. By the time the manager was made aware of the situation, we had been waiting for about 15 minutes. We were never asked to wait out of the way of the other customers. We had to ask if we could wait outside, if only to make sure they didn't forget about us. After we got home, the food was good easily a 9+/10 for the food we got. However, they didn't give us a side for the family dinner. And unfortunately, the tip was already included. Overall, e we won't be returning and I don't suggest placing online orders through this Sizzler in Fresno. read more

Went for dinner after picking up my mom from church when she returned from her retreat. Something must have changed as the food quality was not great. They gave my mom french fries that was cold and she ordered rice, the did give her a side of rice. Her senior menu comes with a side salad and we had to ask for it. The all you can eat salad bar was ok. We never got the after dinner mints and I really do not think they deserved a tip. Not sure if we will return. Use to be a great place with great service but just not sure what happened last. Service is still very bad. Food quality is bad. Will not return. read more

I don't understand why there are such bad reviews, this place seem like an average Sizzler with better than average salad bar choices. Their prices are comparable to the Sizzlers in Sacramento and I seen things at the Fresno location salad bar that we don't have here in Sac so I think that's pretty neat. While the decor of the place is a little outdated, and could definitely use a pick-me-up, the floor, tables, and self serve areas were pretty clean. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was totally packed with young families, older couples, and police on their lunch break. We were a group of 7 and were able to be seated immediately and each of us order the salad bar plus a couple entrees. The bottle of red we ordered with our dinner was cheap but good, which is much like Sizzler's food. This isn't 5 star fancy food but it is a nice place to go with a group on a budget (hovering around $110 for seven people including all food, soft drinks, a bottle of wine, and taxes) and still make everyone happy since there is a wide variety of food to choose from. We were all very satisfied with our early dinner and the service was good, the staff were friendly and trying hard to make our dinner a good one, the only things that perturbed me was that I really wanted my water refilled and after asking twice I left without getting any more water. I understand though that our waiter was pretty busy and looked a little haggard running around trying to help everyone but I was thirsty and the wine did not quench it. And the other was that my that my grandma had to wait a while for some coffee to be refilled and it took a while to get our to go boxes. The family came here for the Mothers Day breakfast on Sunday. I had never been to a Sizzler before and I had never really heard any good things about it to be honest, but we have a huge family and my cousins decided to go with this place. We arrived and although there was a long line, we got seated pretty quickly. The girl working the register was rude and kept asking the same question in the 5 minutes we were up at the counter (I didn't want pancakes the first 2 times you asked, I don't think I'll change my mind the 3rd time) Our waitress was the only good thing about this whole expierence. She was attentive, super sweet and obviously had good hearing unlike the counter girl. The food was disgusting. Greasy, dry and total buffet food. They were serving Sunny D as "orange juice" and the coffee was worse than hotel coffee! There was food all over the floor and on 2 separate occasions I witnessed a server drop food into other containers, dust off the food it got dropped into it and put it back in it's correct container. Food was served cold, and I mean dirt cold. Ordered 2 plates of steak and lobster and my lobsters were both still frozen on the bottom and the meat was cold. They just tried to put seasoning over the lobster to make it look nice and cooked. Steak was cold too, how does steak even get cold that fast? My mashed potatoes were cold as well , literally only good thing on my table was the Lemonades. Now I feel sick and feel like I have food poisoning I haven't stopped throwing up since I came home. Only reason I gave 2 stars was cause the waitress was nice and even got us a whole other plate but It took to long I had to eat the cold food first and didn't even want the 2nd plate . I hadn't been here in a long time so we decided to go.. I ordered the steak & unlimited shrimp. My food came out super fast I had one trip to the salad bar & had not even finished & my food was on the table. The steak was OK needed salt, the baked potato was OK needed salt the shrimp were OK. Nothing great. The bread was the only thing that I thought was great. My boyfriend had steak & chicken. This chicken patty was something you could buy from the frozen section at your local grocery store it was gross looking & his steak was way over cooked. My friend chose to hold his birthday dinner here being that he'd invited an exceptionally large group of people unsure of whom would actually show. It's definitely not an upscale buffet, but it's decent and inexpensive. I paid $11 for a 6 oz. Steak and Fries (you can also opt for a baked potato or veggies instead). The cut of steak was nothing fancy (obviously), but definitely edible. (I DID love their sweet potato fries dipped in their spicy chipotle sauce.) Any meal comes with free reign to the salad bar, which also includes a taco bar, a variety of soups, fruit, soft served ice cream and a variety of random foods (ie. pastas, chicken wings, onion rings, and other fried goods). Let's face it, it's Sizzler. There obviously isn't going to be a five star meal here but there is usually decent food at a reasonable price. The main reason I occasionally eat here is the nostalgia from my childhood. I still love the Dinosaur nuggets, I just can't help it. Something about those little Chicken Dinosaurs just make me want to dip them in ranch and bite their heads off. The salad bar has changed and gone a little down hill, but is still the main reason I come. Usually I order a meal that comes with the salad bar and eat the salad bar and take the meal home. It's a decent size salad bar and I like the options available. . Timing is definitely important here, if you go at the wrong time the salad bar could well, suck. Changes I have not liked: The potatoes skins no longer have any cheese or bacon bits but are just quartered potatoes. They no longer have the Vegi Lasagna. The Malibu chicken is kinda of scary now, it's just a frozen chicken patty topped with a folded slice of lunch meat and a slice of Swiss. Not very tasty at all. The steaks are usually decent, nothing fancy. The waitress, Melissa, was very nice and attentive. She was on top of the refills and made sure that we had everything we needed. When my boyfriend received his Lobster it was way over cooked, scrawny, and down right scary looking. He sent it back and asked for another one. The manager then came over to inquire what was wrong. When my boyfriend explained the situation the manager said he himself would take care of it. The manager, who used to be a chef according to our waitress, cooked a new piece of lobster and a new piece of piece of steak. It looked really good and my boyfriend was very happy. They made a mistake, apologized, and fixed it. It was very clear that the manager that was working that night valued his customer and wanted to make sure that they have a good experience there. read more

Hadnt been here in a couple years and its not as bad as a remember it. Place seemed clean. Service was good. Price is reasonable for an entree w/side,drink and salad/taco/soup/fried snack bar alot of other places have tons of crappy for expensive price. here at least my main sandwich i had was good but room for improvement on the bacon. I got a chicken club sandwich which was surprisingly satisfying and I had a couple trips to the salad bar. Not alot to say on this most things seemed fresh just a couple things that didnt seem to fresh or appetizing mainly the potatoe salad. It had that "sitting there too long" appearance. but everything thing else was satisfactory. Id rate this place between a 2 and 3 but leaned towards 3 for nice service. read more

Once again I find myself in Fresno/Clovis on business. I was tired of burgers or the usual travel fair, and wanted something a little better, so a salad bar seemed appropriate. As a long time valley person, I am very familiar with Sizzler, there always seems to be one in the neighborhood, and I was always a fan. Sadly, about 12 years ago, it seemed that the Sizzler restaurants that I frequented were all going downhill. The quality of the food was almost inedible, the quality of the preparation bad - overcooked or obviously just poured from a tin can. Everything was lower but the price, which seemed to go up. I joked to my wife that it seems that Sizzler was doing their best to put out the worst food they could. 10 years ago, I quit Sizzler. But 6 months ago, I tried this restaurant in Fresno simply because I was far from home and this offered something familiar. Fine dining it ain't, so it may seem odd to give a chain store buffet a four star rating, but here it is. I have visited them twice now, and both times the food was much better than I expected based on my past experience, the service was friendly, and the place is clean. read more

I like buffets a lot but I usually stay away from them because there is too much food and I know how guilty I feel afterwards. This time I could not avoid going to that restaurant because my friends love it and he specifically requested to go there. The restaurant was packed but the employees kept and eye on the salad bar and made sure it remained clean and stocked. Once we were both finished with the appetizers the server brought our entrees. I got the steak and my friend ordered a Salmon. We did not like them much. The fish was really dry and my steak was chewy. I asked my baked potato without any butter but it came out of the kitchen with a large scoop of butter. At least my friend could eat the vegetables that came with his Salmon, that was more than what I got for main course. The salad bar saved my night, but it could have been way better. read more

I'm surprised at these low reviews. For $10.99 I got a fantastic meal. Clean, clean, clean. What more can you say about a local salad bar. Worth every penny. Not the biggest selection but very well kept. Service? I saw smiles everywhere. From greeting to table service to those just helping others. Quality? Want the best, make it at home. Here you'll get fresh good food and plenty of it in a very clean environment. The chicken tortilla soup however is better than my own. This is not a 5 star restaurant, but rather a 5 star deal. The food was excellent! I got riblets and steak with a baked potato. My wife got a steak, baked potato, and soup. When you order a soup you get it at the salad bar. They were out of clam chowder. We didn't ask to have it refilled so I will take half the blame. When my wife got her soda there was lipstick on the cup. She sent it back. When the waiter brought the new soda it had something floating in it. The waiter kept joking around blaming it on my girl. He never said sorry. I get the cool funny waiter approach but don't forget about the service. My advice is sit closer to the entrance/exit doors because he works on the side closer to the restrooms. First off I don't understand all the bad reviews. This is a great place to go to for everyone. If you like buffets you can order the all you can eat and go to town on a medium sized buffet with some good food. If you want a sit down experience they have that too with a full menu. This is a good place to eat at and I always have a fine meal and a good time when I go. On a side not maybe people are complaining how busy or packed it is. Well all I can say to that is they must be doing something right, and if you don't like it don't come so I don't have to wait in line. They also have a brunch buffet that is very good. Don't get me wrong there's only like maybe 2-3 waiters/waitresses to assist you but come on. The waitress only managed to get me one refill and another order of shrimp. Wow you suck lady!
