We came in right after we took our son to get his ears pierced. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in, as well as paying our tab. So backstory, we usually eat Mongolian in Fairfield. My SO knows the owners and employees so we get the homie hookup so we anticipated this to be below par, I know sounds like we're a-holes. But this place wasn't too shabby! By the time we finished making our bowls our table had the bowls of fried rice, egg rolls and our drinks it was very nice and quick. The cups made it feel very home-esque. Love love love the noodles here. The sauces were really nice to make our bowl, they have a kung pao flavor here that we didn't get at the one in Fairfield. All in all, really enjoyed our food. The place was clean: tables were well kept, the self serve area was taken care of. We definitely will be coming back ‍

Today I had a really good lunch at Sizzling Fresh Mongolian BBQ. Lots of seating, huge open room with lots of tables. Pay when you enter restaurant. Seemed a bit spendy but then what isn't. You build your own bowl starting with beef, chicken, pork or turkey meat. Then you choose veggies, tofu, noodles, more veggies, sauces followed by peanuts or pineapple. I opted for chicken, noodles, zucchini, spinach, cilantro, cabbage, and kung pao sauce and peanuts. The chef grills your food for you, places it into a larger bowl. You can add additional sauce if you wish. I was served an egg roll, red sweet/sour sauce, veggie rice and some chips (not sure what these are) plus a huge glass of ice water. Great, healthy, hot meal. Customer service is good and quick. I enjoyed my lunch. I think this is going to be my go to in the future.for eating out ad it's fresh, ample food and tasty.

All Build Your Own Bowl with egg rolls and fried rice

Upon entering, I was greeted with a warm smile and hello. This was me and my family's first time here so the lady tried her best to explain the concept of having to build our own bowl. The variety of meats and toppings were great and all of the toppings looked fresh. The meats were frozen though, which is understandable. The counters were well maintained and I saw employees cleaning around the areas frequently. When it came time to having my meal cooked, the chef cleaned the stove top, which was well appreciated. Note that this is done often but not all the time. My bowl was very flavorful and the chicken was not too dry. The nice thing is that you are basically your own chef so it is up to you how much of each ingredient you want in your meal. The side dishes, fried rice, wonton chips, and egg rolls, were standard tasting. Our waitress was always friendly when she came to check on our table and refilled waters. A pro tip is coming for dinner since it is all you can eat. During lunch, you are only allowed one bowl per person. I would overall recommend this restaurant and come back to enjoy an all you can eat dinner when I am super hungry!

It's kind if expensive for lunch when you compare it to the ayce dinner price. I'm not one that likes to overfill my bowl on 1 trip, but you do it when you come for lunch. I understand that all mongolian bbq is like that, but I wish it wasn't. Servers are whatever, but it's what you would expect. Place is pretty clean for mongolian bbq. I would go back, but probably only for dinner.

It's been a minute since we've been here for dinner (almost a year) because of the rude service we received. Fast forward 1 year, and things have changed for the better. Interior was bright and roomy and clean floor to wall. Place was relatively full, but most orders looked like to-go orders/door dashers (separate table solely for pickup orders). The "buffet line" of stir fry items was nice, fresh and full. Veggies were crisp and colorful, and the meats were mostly lean. There was one employee who kept replenishing the items, mask and gloves worn. Basically, you're your own chef since you control the amount of various sauces available. My bowl was piping hot and zero black char from the grill table (big improvement from the last visit). Price a bit steep at $19/bowl, but for AYCE and rising food costs, it's in line with most other eateries. Glad we revisited, will be back more often!

This has been my favorite Mongolian BBQ place in South Sac for years, and I'm honestly shocked at all the reviews talking about "rude" service. One of the things that keeps me coming back is the friendly, attentive service I've received! I have a feeling people are running into language and culture barriers as none of the staff speak English as a first language. I don't need a saccharin greeting and a big smile at every restaurant I attend, and I wish more people would chill at jumping to "rude" accusations when someone is just trying to do their job and efficiently get customers through the line. All that aside, while it's tough to review a place like this when you're responsible for making your own food, I've always been impressed with the variety and freshness of the ingredients. There's also a big selection of sauces at the end, and additional toppings beyond that. When ordering the lunch special, the servers have always been super quick to bring out appetizers and rice, and check multiple times to ensure you don't need anything more. I've been to many MBBQs in Sac, and this continues to be the one I enjoy the most!

This place has gone downhill in the last few years.Quality of food ,service and pricing. It seems like the management doesn't care about their food or customers.I ordered thru door dash today there was hardly any noodles in my meal and it was blend and dry.

This place is the bomb, best food ever, fresh, healthy, and delicious...so good...

This place is so good, fresh, healthy and delicous. Good portions bowls are big. If you never tried Mongolian bbq go sooo good.

I've been dying to try this place. A little pricey but isn't everything everywhere. The staff was nice the food line was clean. They give you a bowl and a glove to get your fixens. I love that they have fresh jalapeños and pineapple was a nice touch. The Kung pao sauce wasn't as flavorful as I hoped and I used a lot. They serve you a small bowl of fried rice which I also found bland. The spring roll and fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce was a nice touch and yummy. All an all I'd go back because I love veggies. I opted for no noodles and did just chicken and veggies as it's my preference and I am glad I was able to cater to what I like! 3 stars for lack of flavors BUT I would go back and just more Siracha HahHa

Decided to give this Sizzling Fresh another chance....mistake. The rudeness of the workers destroys any hope of having an enjoyable meal. Sad that I tipped so well upon entry and again at the cook's station. Such a stark contrast to the wonderful service that is provided at the Natomas Sizzling Fresh location. I walked into the restaurant and I was the customer. They were free workers gossiping counter to them with her back to me and they knew I was there and they continued gossiping. I asked if I could if they still require payment , so we made her way over to bring me up. I didn't give me a bowl. It was ridiculous so I just did in front of the service area staring at me. I politely asked for a bowl which after finishing their conversation they could give me. I believe the bowl was smaller than the 1st bowl they give you at the Natomas location;, which is fine because I don't need that much, but people who are used larger bowl will be disappointed. I advised them that I did not require price or Friday items and I just pointed to my table. They had already sent them out. I then went to get some chopsticks and sweet-and-sour since I got the eggroll and they yelled at me saying that there were utensils and sauces on the table. There are not sauce for me and there were no chopsticks on the table. Presents and when I went to go get more water, I was feeling soda. Really an awful dining experience. I do not plan on returning to this location.

Food was very fresh and the service was fast. It was pretty busy but we were seated quickly . The veggies were cooked just right , not too soft . Lots of choices for sauces. The counters did get a little messy with patrons self serving and making a mess. All you can eat for less than $20 per person is a good deal if you are hungry enough to eat more than one bowl , comes with spring roll and small bowl of rice .

Same; plus egg roll & crunchy Mongolian style chips, sweet sauce.

In fact, an employee commented that I hadn't taken very much food. When I returned the next day and tried to do the same thing, I was told I could only use one bowl because using two bowls would "mess up the burn" on the grill. I explained that I was getting my food to go and was not planning to come back for additional servings. I even offered to pay twice if necessary because I wasn't trying to get around the all-you-can-eat policy. Instead of working with me or offering a reasonable solution, the employee argued with me. Rather than continue the disagreement, I left both bowls and walked out without ordering. Afterward, I called to express my disappointment as a regular customer. I explained that they were likely losing a customer over the situation. The response I received was, "That's on you." The most frustrating part was the inconsistency. What was perfectly acceptable the day before suddenly became a problem, and there was no effort to accommodate a paying customer or even have a respectful conversation about it. Unfortunately, customer service matters, and based on this experience, I won't be returning.

We have seen many staff changes over the years, but everyone is very pleasant and respectful. There are so many choices for meats and veggies. And while the stations may get a little messy, they do a good job of cleaning and clearing them off occasionally. They also tackle the floors. It is so fun to be able to choose what you want in your bowl. I would go heavy on the sauces at the end because they are watered down a bit 5-6 scoops as recommended may not suffice for some people. A few of my favorite toppings include: beef, bok choy, spinach, baby corn, mushrooms, green onion, cilantro, peanuts, garlic and sesame oil. There are other options like tomatoes, pineapples, bell pepper, broccoli, Turkey, chicken, and pork. There is only one type of noodle - it's a thicker chow mein noodle. The chefs do cook your food on a large flat top. While you can tip them in cash in the jar, there is also an option to tip on the terminal when you check out. It is all you can eat here for lunch and dinner. There are slight variations in the sides for lunch and dinner. I believe it is soup, gyoza, and white rice for lunch and for dinner, wonton chips with sweet dipping sauce is added and the rice is upgraded to fried rice with vegetables. We also noticed a lot of people ordering DoorDash or takeout.

We had a fabulous lunch the white staff make sure everything is kept tidy because it's such a small quarters that if you drop a little bit of food, it shows up quickly, but they are on it. They have most of the regular items and then extra items like two types of noodles, which I always appreciate it. Husband likes the fat ones so I like the thin ones. What really surprised me was that I have to get to the normal selection of proteins like pork, beef, chicken, and lamb and through the veggies selection area where they also have tofu and pineapple, and pass, they make your own sauce, they have CALAMARI and small SHRIMP on ice right before the cooking station! When you sit at the table, you get great service if you order sodas they're constantly refilled. The dinner service also comes with soup a bowl of steam right rice, some crunchy wonton strips and sweet-and-sour. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that not only do they have Sriracha, but they also have traditional chili oil that you can order with your meal for flavoring. They still have their soft serve ice cream for afterwards with sprinkles and chocolate strawberry Hershey's syrup. Lunch is a few dollars cheaper than dinner. We went at 4 o'clock, so it was dinner our but dinner you can go and get as many refills as you want. The only caveat is if you do get a refill, you cannot take home leftovers. Which seems fair. Super low-key not fancy but a very, very decent Mongolian barbecue and I will be back!
