You pay upon entering and get your bowl. 4 meat options - beef, chicken, pork and turkey. Tip: break up the meat so you have more room in the bowl. Lots of veggie toppings. Fill up to your hearts desire, so long as you can keep it in your bowl. Then add in your sauces. Make sure to put enough so you have enough in the finished noodles. I wish they would give bigger bowls so you aren't loading and piling up your bowl because it all shrinks up once cooked. When we got to our table, they had some spring rolls and rice for all of us. I didn't try them but the others in the group enjoyed them. Service: no frills. Pay, get your bowl. Eat and go on. There are no formalities here. My type of place. I really love the food here, which is what makes this review so disappointing to write. The Mongolian BBQ itself is delicious, and I've always enjoyed being able to build my own bowl with all my favorite ingredients. However, I recently noticed that the to-go prices have gone up, while at the same time the bowls they give you to put your ingredients in have gotten noticeably smaller. It feels like you're paying more and getting less, which is frustrating, especially when you're already a loyal customer who genuinely enjoys the food. I completely understand that prices go up, but shrinking the bowl while increasing the price makes it harder to justify coming back as often. I really hope they reconsider the portion size or pricing because the food is honestly good enough that I want to keep coming back. We came in right after we took our son to get his ears pierced. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in, as well as paying our tab. So backstory, we usually eat Mongolian in Fairfield. My SO knows the owners and employees so we get the homie hookup so we anticipated this to be below par, I know sounds like we're a-holes. But this place wasn't too shabby! You build your own bowl starting with beef, chicken, pork or turkey meat. Then you choose veggies, tofu, noodles, more veggies, sauces followed by peanuts or pineapple. I opted for chicken, noodles, zucchini, spinach, cilantro, cabbage, and kung pao sauce and peanuts. The chef grills your food for you, places it into a larger bowl. You can add additional sauce if you wish. I was served an egg roll, red sweet/sour sauce, veggie rice and some chips (not sure what these are) plus a huge glass of ice water. Upon entering, I was greeted with a warm smile and hello. This was me and my family's first time here so the lady tried her best to explain the concept of having to build our own bowl. The variety of meats and toppings were great and all of the toppings looked fresh. The meats were frozen though, which is understandable. The counters were well maintained and I saw employees cleaning around the areas frequently. When it came time to having my meal cooked, the chef cleaned the stove top, which was well appreciated. Note that this is done often but not all the time. My bowl was very flavorful and the chicken was not too dry. The nice thing is that you are basically your own chef so it is up to you how much of each ingredient you want in your meal. The side dishes, fried rice, wonton chips, and egg rolls, were standard tasting. Our waitress was always friendly when she came to check on our table and refilled waters. A pro tip is coming for dinner since it is all you can eat. During lunch, you are only allowed one bowl per person. (1/16/26): Mongolian BBQ has always been a staple place to go to growing up. It's quick, big portion, and picky eaters can decide what to put. This place was no different. Topping were standard for a stir fry. The sauces also standard except sugar water, I've never seen that one before. I did have to double/triple spoonfuls of sauces which increases calories but flavor comes out. I pulled up on garlic and I went light on the oils which helped with the greasy bowl you see on reviews. Appetizers at the table were great - wonton chips and egg role. However, the rice can use some work. Very bland. Felt like it was just butter, rice, peas and carrots. I've seen mixed reviews about the staff but the staff was nice to our big party of 6 (with 2 kids). They accommodated us quickly. Also, around 30 mins into our meal the restaurant got busy but they were attentive to filling waters. The resturant atmosphere can definitely use some work. It's giving cafeteria instead of restaurant. The pricing was the issue. Dinner was all you can eat, which I understand. However $20 for a plate is very steep. Unless, you're eating 2-3 plates, which no one at our table could do. Also $4 for a fountain drink, that you have to ASK to refill? Yeah, idk about that. This is an excellent Mongolian barbecue with a good selection of ingredients and very efficient service.

It's been a minute since we've been here for dinner (almost a year) because of the rude service we received. Fast forward 1 year, and things have changed for the better. Interior was bright and roomy and clean floor to wall. Place was relatively full, but most orders looked like to-go orders/door dashers (separate table solely for pickup orders). The "buffet line" of stir fry items was nice, fresh and full. Veggies were crisp and colorful, and the meats were mostly lean. There was one employee who kept replenishing the items, mask and gloves worn. Basically, you're your own chef since you control the amount of various sauces available. My bowl was piping hot and zero black char from the grill table (big improvement from the last visit). Price a bit steep at $19/bowl, but for AYCE and rising food costs, it's in line with most other eateries. Glad we revisited, will be back more often! read more

This has been my favorite Mongolian BBQ place in South Sac for years, and I'm honestly shocked at all the reviews talking about "rude" service. One of the things that keeps me coming back is the friendly, attentive service I've received! I have a feeling people are running into language and culture barriers as none of the staff speak English as a first language. I don't need a saccharin greeting and a big smile at every restaurant I attend, and I wish more people would chill at jumping to "rude" accusations when someone is just trying to do their job and efficiently get customers through the line. All that aside, while it's tough to review a place like this when you're responsible for making your own food, I've always been impressed with the variety and freshness of the ingredients. There's also a big selection of sauces at the end, and additional toppings beyond that. I've been dying to try this place. A little pricey but isn't everything everywhere. The staff was nice the food line was clean. They give you a bowl and a glove to get your fixens. I love that they have fresh jalapeños and pineapple was a nice touch. The Kung pao sauce wasn't as flavorful as I hoped and I used a lot. They serve you a small bowl of fried rice which I also found bland. The spring roll and fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce was a nice touch and yummy. All an all I'd go back because I love veggies. After we made our Mongolian barbecue and while the food was being cooked, I was walking around with my one-year-old child. Before we even received our food, a woman working there aggressively told me that I could not eat inside and that I had to leave. Again--our food wasn't even ready yet. The entire interaction felt hostile and unwelcoming from start to finish. We were treated very poorly, without respect or courtesy. There is absolutely no reason for this kind of behavior at a restaurant where customers are paying good money. Decided to give this Sizzling Fresh another chance....mistake. The rudeness of the workers destroys any hope of having an enjoyable meal. Sad that I tipped so well upon entry and again at the cook's station. Such a stark contrast to the wonderful service that is provided at the Natomas Sizzling Fresh location. I walked into the restaurant and I was the customer. They were free workers gossiping counter to them with her back to me and they knew I was there and they continued gossiping. I asked if I could if they still require payment , so we made her way over to bring me up. I didn't give me a bowl. It was ridiculous so I just did in front of the service area staring at me. I politely asked for a bowl which after finishing their conversation they could give me. I believe the bowl was smaller than the 1st bowl they give you at the Natomas location;, which is fine because I don't need that much, but people who are used larger bowl will be disappointed. I advised them that I did not require price or Friday items and I just pointed to my table. They had already sent them out. I then went to get some chopsticks and sweet-and-sour since I got the eggroll and they yelled at me saying that there were utensils and sauces on the table. There are not sauce for me and there were no chopsticks on the table. Presents and when I went to go get more water, I was feeling soda. Really an awful dining experience. Well I should have done a review about this restaurant a long time ago. I have been coming to this place of business for many years. The food flavor and freshness of food never disappoints. The price is very good for what you are able to experience, for $20.65 you can have an all you can eat experience, that includes rice and an egg roll. I personally prefer to drink water with my meal, but they have plenty of Coke products to choose from that also include refills. The servers tend to your table and make sure you receive good service. What I find unique about this restaurant is the way the cooks cook the food. They use what appear to be over size chopsticks and bring the food around a large iron heated stove. I think this restaurant is definitely kid friendly and suitable for large parties. Also the bathroom is very clean and modern style looking. It's a Mongolian grill. You can't take your food with you. Other than that you can keep making as many bowls as you want during dinner. You can make many small bowls or a couple large ones, up to you. If you can eat 10 bowls I doubt they stop you. I'd suggest going with a big appetite to make the price worth it.
