    US Wagyu with Noodle
    Beto R.

We stopped by the restaurant for a quick lunch while visiting San Diego. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate around 70 people. The server guided us to the table and brought the water and menu right away. We ordered the following items: Chicken Noodle Soup: The bowl was huge. Like 12 inch in diameter and enough to feed 2 people kind of huge. The noodles were cooked perfectly, neither too hard nor too soft. The broth was on the light side but still flavorful. The chicken strips were tender, and the mixed veggies with Szechuan preserved mustard tuber added a nice savoriness to the broth. US Wagyu with Rice and Black Pepper + Mushroom Sauce: it was sizzling for sure with the smoke coming out from the iron bowl. Besides beef and rice, it was complemented with edamame, corn and cheese (I wished the ingredients were more complex or exciting). All ingredients went well with the flavorful black pepper and mushroom sauce. The wagyu's texture was slightly on the tough side. US Wagyu with Udon and Black Peper + Mushroom Sauce: The noodles were cooked perfectly with stir fried like firm texture from sizzling iron bowl bottom. Like the rice bowl, the ingredients went well with the sauce. The prices were reasonable and service was very good. It is definitely a great option for those who like teppan style dishes and noodle soups.

I finally got to try this place out after always frequenting Pepper Lunch when I'm in the Irvine area. I was seated immediately and we were instructed to order via a QR code but we were handed physical menus so that we can look at pictures. My go to is always the Wagyu Beef, so I went with what I know. Of course, the meat is never enough, wish there was more for the price point. You can order extra meat on the side if you want. Like Pepper Lunch, they bring out your dish in a sizzling plate. Actually, the robot waiter came to the table, and the waitress came by to serve it to us. I had the Black Pepper sauce, which was good and they provide an ample amount I couldn't finish it but was pleasantly surprised that they give a small serving of your ice cream of choice. They had vanilla or strawberry that day. Of course I chose strawberry and it was great palate cleanser after the meal. Definitely not crowded when I went, restaurant was clean, and seating was comfortable. Definitely will return again!

CAST IRON FOOD (3.4 stats) ... in other words "fried rice" cooked on a sizzling plate. - FOOD: ok - PRICE: good deal - SERVICE: ok - AMBIANCE: typical Convoy place restaurant Been to several restaurants that offer sizzling plates and been to better ones. This place is ok. Sit, order by QR code, choose your carb, protein, and sauce, robot delivers food, go to front or call server and pay the bill. :: ORDER :: COMPLIMENTARY SIDES - picked radish and kimchi. Picked radish were average. The kimchi was dry and tasted off. US WAGYU BEEF ($17.99) - Rice. Sauce: black pepper. Didn't add extra but by default comes with corn, cheese and edamame to mix. Also, came with a free tea drink and went with the iced green tea (sweetened) which wasn't too strong and refreshing to drink. First of all, the robot didn't make it to my table before malfunctioning and the server had to pick up my sizzling plate from the robot and deliver it. When my sizzling plate came out it had a paper wrapping the edge with the skyline of San Francisco (lol not SD) - thought that was funny. My plate was sizzling but not to the point where oil is splatter off the sides. To not waste the kimchi I I added that into my meal to give it a hint of heat. I enjoyed my meal although nothing special about it as it felt like I mixed whatever I had in my fridge and made a fried rice. I've definitely had better sizzling plates than this but this was pretty decent for the price. Sadly, I left my left overs on the table and realize it when it was way too late. To say the least, portion to price was very fair. Been nice to have ate the left overs. Until the next review...

But really you want me over for the extra Star was the service for some reason maybe because it was not too busy or server spent extra time explaining the menu and explaining the variety of combinations and explain explaining what was his favorites, including speaking to my mom in Chinese, I think that they took extra care to help show what was important and what was worth picking. We got the salmon sizzling plate and the chicken sizzling plate and I would say overall the chicken sizzling plate was pretty good but the salmon one seemed pretty good also not too dry. It had a lot of options to add in which was both with corn and edamame and onions so for all I would say it was definitely worth Checking out and getting a sizzling plate. The novelty of cooking it yourself and trying it was fun and you could literally taste the heat. During the lunch special, they give you a free green tea and that was pretty good too. I did the mushroom sauce and I would say again overall this was pretty good value for the amount of food that they give you.

Stopped by Sizzling House with some friends and, by chance, ran into more friends who were already eating. The staff was awesome and quickly moved us all to a bigger table so we could sit together. Ordering was easy--just scanned a QR code at the table. I got the Sizzling Wagyu Beef. It had solid flavor, and I liked how the rice got crispy on the hot plate. It did feel more like a fried rice dish though--would've been nice if there was a bit more beef. The Mala Spicy Beef Noodles came in the biggest bowl I've ever seen. The noodles were super tender and the broth had great flavor. We also tried the Red Oil Wontons--tasty, but the wrappers could've been thinner. Overall, pretty solid food and really great service. My wife thought she ordered a soda but didn't realize it didn't go through--staff noticed and gave it to us for free, which was a nice touch. I would definitely come back.

Ordered takeout from Sizzling House and it was honestly a waste of money. The rice was hard and dry, almost like leftover fried rice that had been sitting out too long. There was barely any meat and the portion just felt unbalanced, mostly rice with no flavor. It didn't taste fresh at all. For what they charge, I expected something decent but this felt lazy and thrown together. Really disappointing overall. Wouldn't order again. There are plenty of other places that actually care about their food, even for takeout.

They are consistent. Clean. Nice service and delicious food. Water does not have strong tap water taste. I like the cute cat robot that delivers the food. Parking is still a challenge in this plaza. Looking forward to coming here again to try other dishes. Really enjoyed the complimentary ice cream at the end of my dinner

Worth the drive and worth the circling of the block or 3 to find parking. The restaurant is open and inviting and has plenty seating for any party size. The restaurant also has ample windows for natural lighting for the best foodie pics! They have regular menus then to order, you would use the QR code on the table. Easy as can be. Food - Chicken Wings - a MUST have for an appetizer. Cooked to perfection and tossed with some sort of savory and sweet dry rub coating. I've never tasted chicken wings like this. It was delicious. - We all ordered the U.S. Wagyu Beef sizzling plate; I ordered the curry one. I typically do not like curry (except for Thai curry) AND meant to order the black pepper sauce instead of curry but ate it anyway and it was delcicious!!! You can order extra portions of the beef, mushroom, corn etc. too. Plate came out sizzling of course. Such a large portion - one order can be shared by 2 or 3 people but I would stick with 2 max. I almost ate all of mine alone because I was STARVING haha. - Beef Rice Noodle (Mala Spicy) with toasted peanuts. It was okay, there was a flavor I didn't really like about it so this was just OK. We believe there was 5 spice in it maybe? Not sure but wasn't a fan of the spice but the noodles and peanuts stuff in the soup were yummy. Large bowl which you can share for up to 4-5 people. The service was exemplary! Waiters came to check in on us and always refilling our waters. I'm definitely bringing my parents here and will be back again soon. This place is Cheryle approved. :)

Absolutely love this place. So glad that one is now in San Diego. This restaurant is located in Convoy so parking may be a little difficult. The inside is rather large, and we were seated immediately. You order, and a cool robot comes to deliver your food. Remember to mix your sauces in! The food was delicious and the portions are very big. Would definitely come again.

Pepper Lunch, but make it SD! These sizzling plates make for a scrumptiously filling meal. I went with the US Wagyu Beef sizzling plate with Black Pepper Sauce. It comes out pipping hot in a skillet served with a generous mound of rice, slices of beef, edamame, corn, and mushrooms. You just drizzle your sauce of choice on top, mix, and enjoy! A perfect example of a simple meal done right. When comparing this to the famed Pepper Lunch chain, I actually found myself preferring this spot a smidge more! More veggies and bigger portions? They've got my vote.

Got dinner with some friends here on a Tuesday night. The parking in the lot is usually compact so I prefer to park on the side streets. There no line when we came and the service was pretty quick. They were good at refilling waters. The food was alright. I got the sizzling vegan chicken with udon and black pepper sauce. The flavor was not bad but not something that I would come back for. My friends got the Sizzling Beef with rice and black pepper sauce and said the same things. The miso soup wasn't as hot as I would want and the taste was like it came from a packet.

Sizzling house is located in the plaza by China Max as the former The concept is similar to that of Pepper Steak up in Irvine. They specialize in sizzling plates of protein (US wagyu beef, Japanese A5 Wagyu beef, salmon, shrimp, chicken, vegan chicken) served over rice or udon. You get to select from 3 different sauces: black pepper, mushroom, or Japanese curry. You can also add toppings such as edamame, corn, cheese, and egg. They also serve ramen. There is a QR code that you can to place your order. If you have any questions, the staff are very pleasant and are helpful. I got the US wagyu beef on udon with mushroom sauce. It comes out in a sizzling plate similar to that of bibimbap. You pour the sauce over and mix the ingredients together and making sure the protein gets fully cooked. It smelled so good and tasted even better! I loved the mushroom sauce over the black pepper sauce. Just a heads up, you will come out smelling like your order so be prepared. The space is pretty big and the right

We came here to celebrate an anniversary, and it turned into a night to remember. The restaurant is located on Pacific Highway. Parking is tough, and we were pressed for time, so we went with their valet -- reasonably priced and super fast. We were greeted by two kind hosts who congratulated us on our anniversary, which set such a sweet tone for the night. The ambiance is gorgeous: vibey music, dim lighting, very high ceilings, and a long, narrow layout that feels dramatic and intimate. Behind the host stand is the bar, which is walk‑in friendly and offers the full menu -- a great option if you don't have a reservation and don't mind bar seating. Service was excellent. I had a lot of questions about the menu, and our waitress answered everything with ease, gave thoughtful recommendations, and explained dishes we weren't familiar with. The menu is divided into cold, hot, sides, and entrées. We ordered the Tuna Nam Khao, coal‑roasted cabbage, short rib plate, and the wagyu steak (one of their signature items). Everything was incredible. For drinks, they have a wide selection of cocktails, wine, and mocktails. I tried the Spirited Away mocktail -- hands down the best mocktail I've ever had: crisp, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. My partner ordered two cocktails and loved both. Close to sunset, they rolled up all the shades to reveal an amazing city view, and the entire dining room cheered and clapped. It was such a fun, unexpected moment that added to the vibe. The staff was on it -- dishes came out quickly, waters were constantly refilled, silverware swapped out between courses. Very impressive given how busy they were. We ended the night with a surprise anniversary dessert: matcha, cream, berries, and boba -- sweet, thoughtful, and just the right amount. We left full, happy, and with plenty of leftovers that they boxed up for us. Definitely recommend Animae for a special occasion -- the food, service, and atmosphere all deliver.

Parking is horrific by the way and you can ask for valet for $25 or make a few circles to find some street parking. This place does not have a large sign facing the street. It's very easy to miss when you're driving to look for it. I would just aim to park near the giant art sculpture and the entrance will be towards the other side of that. When coming in, the art was already breath taking. They had the Iron Giant painting above the bar area, with very nice booth seating throughout the middle. The blinds were down for the harsh sunlight, but nearing 8 p.m. the blinds were brought up for us to see the sunset (it was cloudy though haha). Our server was excellent. His name was Raphael (Rafael?) and he frequently checked in on us to see if we needed anything else. He was amazing at his job! Shout out to him! We ordered several items tonight: Tuna Kare Kare - has shellfish, therefore I did not try it. Hunan Lamb Chops - amazing! Doesn't taste earthy or musky at all. The cilantro cream was a great touch. Crispy Pig Ears - probably the star out of all the appetizers. Tasted exactly like chicharrones. There's a smell when it arrives, but that didn't matter once you took a bite! It was perfection. Wagyu Corned Beef Fried Rice - yes, therefore is wagyu, but I thought it was okay. Fried rice is rice to me. Crispy Potatoes - this was good. I enjoyed the cream the potatoes were in and its crispy texture. Short Rib Kare Kare - I couldn't have this because of my shellfish allergy. Pork Tomahawk Tocino - FANTASTIC. MUST GET. Perfectly marinated and perfectly soft. Absolutely mouth watering. Sea bass Cha Ca - pleasantly soft and delicious. Did not taste fishy. It was a nice surprise and the curry was great as well. Buko Pandan - tastes exactly like Pandan! It was a nice copy of actual Pandan. Turon Tart - my favorite. Tasted exactly like Turon. The banana ice cream was good. Sticky Rice Crème Brulee - very good! Not my favorite, but my family enjoyed it. Overall, I truly enjoyed this place for its Filipino inspired dishes. The servers were all super attentive. Every time they brought out a dish to us, they reminded us about the shellfish allergy to insure I wouldn't eat it; they were mindful of our allergies. The experience was heightened with the cocktails we ordered as well. Again, an exquisite experience which I'd highly recommend to anyone.

Since we live more than an hour away, we waited until we were already in the area. Two days ago, we finally stopped by. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The first thing we noticed upon walking in was an unusual odor that wasn't very inviting. Since it wasn't their Sunday buffet day, we ordered à la carte: kare-kare, crispy pata, and chicken inasal. The service was good, food presentation was nice, and the dishes looked promising. However, the flavors did not meet our expectations. The kare-kare did not taste like traditional kare-kare, and the bagoong alamang was extremely salty with a very strong odor. The crispy pata had been chopped into pieces before frying, making it look and eat more like lechon kawali than the crispy pata we expected. As for the chicken inasal, it was far from the traditional version we're familiar with--it didn't even appear grilled and resembled chicken satay more than inasal. There were three of us dining, and all of us shared the same impressions of the food. Based on their advertising about serving food that's "as good as Nanay's," we came in with high expectations, but sadly, those expectations were not met. This was our first visit, and unfortunately, it will likely be our last. While others may have a different experience, we were not impressed with the food and would not make the drive back for another visit.

It's in a plaza with a ton of other restaurants, so just know parking can be a little chaotic. I went on a Wednesday around 5:30PM and still found parking pretty easily, but I can see it getting rough later. The place itself is on the smaller side, but they fit a good amount of seating. Every time I pass by it never looks super packed and even this time it wasn't that busy. I ordered ahead through their website, which was smooth, but when I walked in the cashier didn't see my order at first. I showed her my confirmation text, she checked with the kitchen and let me know it was still being prepared. She was super kind about it, so no issue there. I sat and waited and it ended up being around 20 minutes, which felt a little long for just two items, but not terrible. There was also a moment where a group came in and no one was at the front, so they asked me how ordering worked. We both just assumed you scan the QR code at the table and order from there, which probably explains why there isn't always someone upfront. A little confusing at first, but it is what it is. Once my food was ready, it was packaged really nicely. I had about a 25 minute drive home and everything stayed warm, which is honestly the best part about good takeout. Popcorn Chicken ($9.50) This might be the best popcorn chicken I've had in San Diego, especially for the price. You get big pieces, like actual chicken, not just fried coating. The seasoning is kind of addicting, a little sweet, a little salty, savory, with a slight kick. Super fragrant too with green onions mixed in. The sauce tasted like a cilantro jalapeño crema, almost taco vibes, which sounds random but it worked really well. And the shredded cabbage at the bottom soaking up all that extra seasoning... so good. Only thing is I wish some pieces were a little crispier and more golden, but still really really solid. Spicy Shrimp Wontons (8 pcs, $10.80) These come in a soy, vinegar, chili oil sauce that's super balanced. The wontons themselves are a bit smaller and don't have a ton of filling, so price-wise it's a little eh. But the sauce carries. After sitting in it during my drive home, I thought it would be too salty, but it actually soaked in perfectly. The color got darker and richer and the flavor still stayed balanced. Overall, this place is honestly solid. The menu isn't huge, more focused on noodles, dumplings, and apps, but based on what I had, they do it well. I'll definitely be back to try more, but that popcorn chicken alone is already enough reason to come back.

The food is consistently exceptional, but the duck and the pasta are absolutely must-orders. Every bite reminds us why we keep coming back. What truly sets Kingfisher apart, though, is the people. Rick and Jennifer always go above and beyond to make us feel like family. Their kindness, hospitality, and genuine care make every meal special, and they always make our son feel so welcome. Great food brings you in, but it's the incredible staff that keeps you coming back. We can't recommend Kingfisher highly enough.

The restaurant is very trendy and a perfect spot for a date or intimate dinner with a small party. For appetizer we ordered house-made baguette and French butter, duck liver pate, and kanpachi crudo. The baguette with the French butter was so fresh and tasty. It was hard to stop eating it. The pate was also delicious and the kanpachi crudo was one of my favorite dishes of the night. We also ordered the crispy chicken wings, house made egg noodles and smoked dry aged duck for entrees to share. The winds were very flavorful and the sauces that came with it were a great pairing. The noodles the smoked duck was a great size for sharing and came with lots of veggies and sides. The duck was perfectly cooked and delicious. The noodles were yummy but were outshined by the rest of the dishes. We ordered the pickled papaya and marinated cucumbers for sides. In hindsight we definitely had too much food and probably didn't need the sides but both were great compliments to the other dishes. For cocktails I ordered the nuoc mami but ended up preferring the water buffalo. Both were good but I did really enjoy the clarified pho reduction in the water buffalo. Service was friendly and attentive. They packaged up our menu nicely as we were celebrating birthdays. Overall I had a great first time at Kingfisher and would definitely recommend a try.
