    Exterior. Same plaza as Cotixan

TLDR: From an IE/SVG boy, this is home. A wok specialty Chinese-American family style cafe in the same plaza as little sheep, barrio donas, and Ee Nami. Great mix of western and traditional dishes done really well! Fast, no nonsense service. Definite regular for me. These kinds of shops are all over the San Gabriel valley/Diamond Bar/Rowland Heights areas but this is rare here in San Diego. Usually Chinese restaurants cater to Americanized tastes or traditional Chinese flavors but there's a middle ground in small cafes like this. Heavy wok char flavor, balance between intense spices, aromatics, and flavor balance that's a bit more Chinese (think less salty, less sweet than your local Americanized Chinese family restaurant) The service is simple and no nonsense. They are short on staff but do reasonably well. Ordering is possible online QR code so can be fast and carefree. Decor is super simple, but clean (if it feels like a boba shop it's because it was before changing hands) Service 5/10 Ambience: NA Everything is cooked very well. Veggies come out bright and crisp, traditional dishes don't lack the aromatics and spices that I want. For instance, the lamb had fruity pepper notes, and pronounced garlic, cumin, and coriander. On the other hand, Americanized dishes like sweet and sour pork are fried perfectly and have pungent tart and syrupy sweetness. However, again I'll say probably not as sweet or as tangy as other places; it's a subtlety that I really appreciate. Taste 9/10 Altogether you'll be paying ~$20 per dish after tip/tax but I have never left without leftovers. Feels like home :) giving a 4/5 only because of service but I'm hopeful they work that out. Definite recommend Value 8/10

The address that Google Maps takes you to is actually where the kitchen is, so you need to walk around the building for the front entrance. The restaurant was not super busy, and you order through a QR code. The food came out pretty quickly in order of what is prepared first. We ordered: -mixed northeast stew ($15.90): This was a specialty dish, and I love how many ingredients it came with. The ingredients include vermicelli, potato, pork, eggplant, green beans, tomatoes, and more. -boiled pork, shrimp, and leek dumplings ($12.90): These had a good amount of filling and were perfectly boiled. -green beans with garlic ($12.90): The taste was good, but it was a bit overcooked. -pig ears in chili oil ($14.90): These weren't my favorite, but the flavor was good. I'd return to check out more of the Northeast specialties!

Tasty House was meh. It wasn't horrible or particularly good. We ordered fried chicken wings, beef burrito, chicken fried rice and spicy beef noodles. Looking back I realized I was using a lot of hot chili oil since there good was pretty bland. The spicy noodles had a spicy oil sheen, but not a lot of heat or flavor. The beef burrito was tasty, but small and skimpy on the beef. The chicken wings were large and 10 to an order, but 2 were pretty raw by the bone. The restaurant is in a strip mall, next to a bigger strip mall. Parking was plentiful in the adjacent lot, but the lot by Tasty House was small with tight spaces. I didn't like ordering by QR code then getting an unpaid receipt, rescanning QR code and creating an account to pay. The payment process was painful and then they didn't text me a receipt after I created an account!

Beef noodle: 2/5 Soup had no flavor, noodle was overcooked, and the stew beef was very obviously prepackaged beef. Spicy shredded chicken noodle: 2/5 The chicken has the texture of rubber bands that's been sitting in the sun since the Stone Age. Also had no peanuts contrary to their own pictures . Noodle texture was good Pot fried pork: 4.5/5 Glaze was perfect. The pork was tender and the crust was fried light and airy. Maybe family style dishes are the way to go judging from how good the pork was, I would give it one more chance to come back and try those dishes. Service was non-existent.

Did I come back to review this once more? Yes AND I brought my Chinese mother who, if you know anything about Asian moms, judge quite harshly. The result: the flavor was right but the dough too thick and the chicken in the noodles was not the kind to use. They are supposed to use not dried chicken but fresh chicken meat. I finally got to try their noodle dishes and it was pretty great. I did order the chicken wings (to go) once more and my family ate all of it. We also tried their beef wrapped in scallion and that looked deliciously flaky on the outside and soft flavorful meat on the inside. The spicy chicken noodles were a good flavor of peanut and cucumber and on a warm day this dish hits the spot as a cold noodle dish. What I really wanted to test out was the chew factor of the noodles as I saw them make it last time by hand. It was pretty on point. We also ordered the shrimp wonton noodle soup and that soup flavor was not too thick or heavy but a light seafood with cilantro flavoring that was not overpowering. On a rainy day or if you feel cold it would be a great addition to your chicken wings. Hope this place gets more business.

Found this place looking on Yelp and it had such nostalgic and niche Chinese dishes I love that aren't as commonly found. The inside was spacious and clean. The service was quick and simple- you order yourself through the QR code. I came here specifically for the sauerkraut pork soup dish which I LOVED (i may be a bit biased). The portion was soo big which shocked me. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauerkraut flavor was strong. They didn't skimp out much on the pork either which was nice. The string beans were good and not overly salty- something I appreciated. Definitely coming back here soon.

Tasty House (味来) has replaced a boba tea and snack shop at the Diane Village in Clairemont. The suite was repainted with orange and pale green colors. The seating capacity was close to 40 after more tables were added for on-site dining. Parking was limited to several spaces out front, however there was a bigger lot to the back (east) of the building. The menu featured Northeastern Chinese cuisine that you could access through a QR code at each table. I selected the Three Delicacy Dumplings for an appetizer which came as an order of twelve pieces. Shrimp, pork, and chives were the trio of ingredients that made up the filling. They could be steamed or boiled so I asked for the former. The shape and size of the dumplings were average while the skin wrapper was a bit on the thick side. The Beef Noodles (non-spicy) was my entree of choice. Several tender slices of meat were included in the bowl that contained thin noodles and topped with green onions and baby bok choy. The broth was light and had mild seasoning. The service was good while the prices were on par with some of the Asian eateries in the Convoy District that served the two items I tried.

Saw that this spot recently opened up and decided to check it out. It's a small shop located in a plaza with plenty of parking. You can order via the QR code at your table. The check does update when people add items on using different phones, but I noticed it was glitchy and wouldn't always refresh what other people added until you add something yourself. So just make sure to compare at the end and have whoever has the most updated check submit the final order. SALT AND PEPPER CHICKEN WINGS: Flavorful, juicy pieces with a nice crispy outside. Lots of onions scattered throughout the dish too. SPICY DRY-FRIED GREEN BEANS: I could tell from the smell when this dish came out that it would be super flavorful! The beans were slightly tougher than I usually like, but not a huge deal. CUMIN LAMB: Strong cumin flavor and nice, tender pieces of lamb that melt in your mouth! TWICE-COOKED SPICY PORK: Tender slices of pork and a nice spicy kick! A little greasier than I would have liked, although I still ate a ton. Overall, enjoyed everything I ordered and will add this to my rotation of spots for when I'm craving Chinese food!

Tasty House sure was tasty! When entering you get the full blast of the authentic smells. It was spacious and bright and the service by a one woman show was as efficient as you can expect from one person. There's a QR code at the table for a virtual menu or they have printed ones too. The must try is the Peking noodles, noodles so fresh, tender but still maintaining some chewiness and the black meat sauce really flavorful. I also really liked the salt and pepper fried fish fillet. Would come back to try other things!

My family and I come here weekly. The food is always fresh and quality tasting! My kids love the fried noodles and salt and pepper fish. They inhale that fish so fast. Super tasty! Unfortunately when the lady that owns the place isn't here they have this maybe college aged Asian girl that doesn't have a clue about service. She doesn't seem to care either.

This restaurant used to be a boba shop so I was surprised when my friend told me that it was a new Chinese restaurant. I am ALWAYS open to getting Chinese food in big groups so my friends and I stopped by for dinner! The interior is quaint and when our group of 6 came in, they kindly put two of their large tables together for us. They had the option to scan a QR code to place an order online which was a seamless process. One person placed the order while we all scrolled through our phones but they brought over two physical menu's that were very helpful. We were having a difficult time deciding what we wanted because there were so many options. We asked the waiter what they recommended and ended up ordering pretty much everything that they told us about. Oh my goodness I was blown away by how yummy our meal was. Potato, eggplant, & green pepper: The dish had a lovely glaze that complimented the potatoes nicely. I am such a fan of eggplant in brown sauce and they definitely did the dish justice. Pot fried pork: This dish reminded me of the korean "Tangsuyuuk" dish and was very nostalgic for me. I wouldn't say that it amazed me, and I wouldn't order it again but I was happy that it was one of the dishes! Green bean with garlic: I always order a vegetable dish when I get Chinese food so I can balance the oil out a little bit. This was a solid version of the green beans with garlic, and I found myself looking for the ones that were smothered in garlic chunks. Shrimp fried noodles: THIS WAS SO YUMMY! I always order a noodle dish as well and this was a very savory, (oily), but rich chow mein. The shrimp wasn't too special but it definitely added a nice flavor to the dish. Red oil wontons: Nothing too special but wontons in any kind of red sauce or chili oil is always a go to and this one didn't disappoint. Sour cabbage and pork dumplings: This was a very safe, delicious choice. It was not very oily like the other items and I would say that it is a great choice for a comfort meal. Salt and pepper fish: To be honest, I side eyed my friend when they said they wanted the fish instead of the wings. I was so very wrong. This was the dish that absolutely captivated my attention for the whole meal. It was so aromatic and tasted rich and buttery. It was crisp but didn't feel very oily. The onion that came with it balanced the flavors of the fish so nicely. Overall, I would say that this was a very successful meal. I hadn't eaten so fast like the food would run away from me in a long time. They have a great variety of dishes and most if not all of them are solid choices, which make a very cohesive dining experience!

Very authentic Northeastern Chinese restaurant with great service and amazingly different cuisine. My water glass stayed full and food came out quickly and hot! PS - rice is ala carte. Dumplings were fresh, full of ingredients and very tasty! Adding soy sauce and chili oil was a plus. Loved the eggplant, potatoes and peppers dish, very savory and perfectly cooked. Chicken with broccoli was very tender with moist white meat. Both were more than generous portions and shared between 4 people! Peking Noodles were refreshing and surprisingly good. Make sure and mix everything together. Sauerkraut with pork and vermicelli was a soup and plentiful but could have used more spice and seasoning. Overall, very happy with the meal and very reasonable and affordable prices. Simple, roomy tables with comfortable seating. We'll be back to try other dishes!

This was by far the best meal I've had in quite some time. I was looking to grab lunch at a spot nearby and all the reservations were full and boy am I so thankful because I walked outside and scanned across the parking lot and found Tasty House. I love that it is a small family owned restaurant. Our food came out so quick and every dish my friend and I tasted we were blown away by.We walked away both saying how satisfied we were in every sense. 10/10 please try this place!

Getting full and we still have this much food left. Best orange chicken (Spicy Orange Chicken) I've ever had to be honest!!

This place is decieving on many levels and subverts expectations in the best way possible. Walking in you wouldn't think much. I was surprised by the tall ceilings; this place is not large in square footage but it doesn't feel cramped in any way. We opted for the online menu as it included pictures, though not on every item. Very reasonable prices for generous portions. Every dish was a winner, though some better than others in the minute details. The Hainanese Chicken Rice was tender and rich that the ginger sauce cut through, but the color was strikingly yellow. The Rotisserie Chicken Salad offered a welcome sight of veggies, though the chicken itself tasted like that straight from Costco. The Scallion Pancake was crispy on the edges, doughy in the center, and you only get one per order. The Shitake Mushroom Minced Pork had no drawbacks, and would come back just for this. Combining familiar flavors and spices, adding roasted vegetables and rice made this a complete meal! We were unbothered by the service staff the entire time until asking for the check, strange as we were the only two in the restaurant. The menu has quite a lot of good offerings it was hard to decide but feel not matter what you order here it's going to be delicious and authentic. They did keep several items from The Nood Bar! :: ORDER :: RED GUAVA ICE TEA ($5.95) - Oh my goodness, so yummy and refreshing. I'd say the caffeine level is very light on this one and I am ok with that. After stuffing my face I took a nice nap for someone who is caffeine sensitive. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GARLIC BUTTER NOODLES {$20.95) - Grilled lemongrass-marinated pork shoulder served over steamed soba noodles tossed with soy sauce, fried garlic, garlic oil, and butter alongside steamed botchy, finished with cilantro and a side of plum sauce. THIS WAS SO FLAVORFUL and yummy. I don't often eat garlic butter noodles so any garlic butter noodle is delicious to me. I did NOT see any fried garlic in my meal and felt it was only garlic oil that was present with the garlic profiles. The noodles were very garlic-y and butter-y. The pork shoulder was also perfectly marinated and dipping it in the plum sauce which was a mix of sweet and tangy paired well with the marination of the meat and butter-ness of the noods. It also came with ONE bakchoy sliced in half to appear as two. And I wish they some how incorporated the cilantro and carrots more into the dish instead of garnish to give some more herbal flavor. Even though, this dish was spot on. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Service was great! Did feel awkward when they handed me the machine to tap my card and leave a tip... they stood there watching you press the buttons. No being discreet picking up plates or looking away... just looking right at you. I know it's a thing with many restaurants now but it's awkward and don't feel like I have privacy. I will def be back! So many yummy dishes on the menu to try. Until the next slurp....
