Vibrant Dermatology in Dedham is truly a special place, and Dr. Ip and her team are nothing short of amazing. From the moment you check in with Ashley at the front desk to the care you receive from Morgan and Anna, you feel welcomed, supported, and most importantly seen. I have alopecia areata, and as a woman, losing my hair was devastating. I cried many tears over the years, but then, out of nowhere, my hair started sprouting back. It felt like God was saying, "Here, take this," and I wasn't about to question it! That's when I found Dr. Ip through a referral, and let me tell you it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. She evaluated me with such care and expertise, starting me on a treatment plan tailored to my needs. We began with topical treatments, added excimer therapy after a few months, and incorporated steroid shots every 6-8 weeks. No two treatment plans are the same, but I am living proof that Dr. Ip's hands have been blessed by God! Beyond the top-tier care, what I love about Vibrant Dermatology is that they never push products on you. They make thoughtful recommendations, and you have the freedom to say yes or no (trust me, I've done both!). Dr. Ip (when you can see her) is surely a talented dermatologist. However, if you are looking for great customer service and patient care, you will not find it at Vibrant Dermatology. Often I was treated with condescension and made to feel like it was just about the money with the Dr. and her staff. Dr. Ip responded in bad faith with regard to several insurance claims (claims that were eventually paid out to the Dr by my insurance). With so many talented dermatologist in the Boston- Metro area, I was colossally disappointed that this office and staff lacked the professionalism and attention to patient concerns I've come to expect with all of my medical providers. If you want a provider that prioritizes dollars and notoriety over patient care and satisfaction... then Dr. Ip and her staff are the folks for you. Don't go here. They force you to buy your products when you know you have a bad reaction to them. Vicky was extremely rude to me. Told me I was red "YOURE RED" talks so condescendingly to me. She forced me to buy a product that I said would cause breakouts and flaking skin and then told me it wouldn't happen. GUESS WHAT IT HAPPENED. Vicky is truly terrible. This place is a scam. They are so so condescending and had me use an ingredient that I am allergic to, forces me to buy products and charged me for them before I could even say no. They only care about money. My skin has never looked worse and I'm in pain. Every person in that building is extremely condescending. It's such a waste of money and time. read more

Had laser done and the products over $200 they said I needed for after care were terrible. They irritated my face and broke out in white blister pimples I never had seen in my life. Dr. Ip and her team are incredible professionals who know what they are doing. I have always struggled with acne, which led to acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and dark spots! As a woman of color, I recognize how important it is to see someone who has experience with skin like mine. I didn't realize how important it was until I saw several dermatologists who either did not recommend products or services that worked or they made my skin worse. They just did not understand my skin. I read about Dr. Ip and decided to try Vibrant Dermatology. The office is 120 miles round trip for me and it's absolutely worth the drive!! On my first visit Dr. Ip spent some time with me understanding my needs and my history. We made a plan and I started to see results but had to pause while going through IVF, pregnancy and then breastfeeding. Now that I am back on the skincare routine Dr. Ip prescribed, and seeing her regularly for treatments, in less than a year I hardly recognize my skin! For the first time since childhood I feel confident in my skin! I don't even wear makeup anymore - and for years I would not be caught without it. For those people that say they didn't see progress after one session... yea...skincare takes a little time! Dr. Ip explained that to me, and told me that consistency (and sunscreen) are key to seeing results. Especially for significant issues like acne scarring or dark spots, I knew it would take some time to see dramatic differences. The office takes photos on every visit and although I hate looking at my old skin, I like to do it and remind myself that even though there still more progress to go, the improvement has been incredible already. Also, yes some of the procedures are expensive and most of them aren't paid by my insurance, but I'm seeing results and it has been more than worth the money. I came to Dr. Joyce after dealing with a skin condition for some 20+ years that my -roof doctors had been treating with a topical steroid that was literally bleaching my skin. She was very frank with me that (1) I needed to get off of it ASAP; (2) for a while, my skin would go to war with me in withdrawal from it; (3) if I trusted in her guidance, the reaction would abate and my skin would get better. She was totally right. I appreciated her honesty and patience with my impatience. And I also appreciated having a doctor who understood the challenges of black skin. So glad I found her. read more

The practice called back a month later and left a message (on a voicemail box that also specifies this in the outgoing message) stating to call them back, and making no acknowledgement of the stated communication needs. read more

BUYER BEWARE. While I do not underestimate Dr. Ip's scholarly background which is why I chose to visit this office, there is a total lack of professionalism and expertise. My experience: -5 Office Visits -$1300+ out of pocket + claims to my insurance/co-pay -The staff is mediocre at best and seems possibly confused as to their role within the office (likely not their fault). Initially visited this office for Aeorlase Laser to treat rosacea/broken capillaries on cheeks/nose. Each visit I was charged $350 and had to sign multiple waivers regarding possible scarring and/or that it may not work at all. Assuming my dermatologist just had to dot her "i's" and cross her "t's" I did not think much of it. Leaving this procedure in the "expert" hands of Dr. Ip, I continued every 4 weeks for 3 months. NO noticeable difference. When discussing final results with Dr. Ip, she was less than interested in our conversation and offered to spot treat at a lower cost ($300) which may or may not work. As well as pushed products that she sold for a markup of +30% than what you can pay online. The recheck was billed to my insurance ($165) for less than a 3 minute visit while she was running approximately 40 minutes behind schedule. Dr. Ip has a very condescending mannerism and lacks bed side manner. This is a spa/aesthetician not a doctors office. Dr. Ip was given an opportunity to contact me directly and discuss but did not return my phone call. It is my belief this is a very inexperienced medical professional and business owner which is somewhat terrifying. On the positive side, they are very COVID19 compliant. read more

Dr. Joyce is amazing. She's extremely intelligent and accomplished; I mean Harvard, Cornell, I think even Oxford University has its place on her credentials. She managed to treat me of a chronic condition that has caused me pain and discomfort for almost 2 decades in just one visit. If you are like me and have put off seeing a dermatologist for years just give her office a call and they'll fit you in ASAP. Her attention to detail and cost effective solutions were a refreshing welcome from other Doctors. Just want to touch on the fact that I did not go here, I only called. I got a great recommendation to go here so I called to see if they took my insurance, whoever they have working the phone is extremely rude. She seemed absolutely disgusted when I asked if they took my insurance. I'm not sure what the issue was, but I definitely will not be going here. read more

I have to agree with another review here, this place feels like it is pushing expensive products and procedures and doesn't feel honest. Perhaps it's the flyer hanging in an exam room promising money off for 5 star reviews. Makes you think most of the 5 star reviews are disingenuous. Think this place is trying to be something it's not. I booked a cosmetic laser procedure. The doctor came into the procedure room (on her own) and started talking to me. Then I find out she not only charged me for the procedure but also billed my insurance company for a consultation (with a copay!!). I think that is insurance fraud. I'll be following up my insurance company. I don't like deceptive practices like that. I won't be going back. read more

Dr. Ip has been my dermatologist for the past five years, so I was thrilled to hear about her new venture! I have been twice, once for a facial and once for a laser facial. The Skinbar is a little hard to find, located in a strip mall off Rte 1 in Dedham. Look for the Papa Gino's sign (the right turn immediately before the pep boys). Inside is a clean, calm and beautiful spa with two areas. In the back are individual treatment rooms. In the front is the Skinbar. At first it felt weird to get a facial right out there in public but then I realized it was kind of more like getting a manicure, and also that it would be really fun to book a facial with a friend or two and then you could chitchat. My aesthetician was the charming Chloe, who couldn't have been nicer. You can book the Skinbar for get togethers or parties. My second treatment was a laser facial to treat brown spots on my face. Dr. Ip performed this herself with Chloe assisting (in a private treatment room). As usual Dr. Ip is the consummate professional and I am always 100% confident in her and her recommendations. The treatment was just yesterday but it has already started to kick in. The prices for the facials seem somewhat high but the quality of the products is also very high. With my facial I received a special offer: a free year membership (normally $200). This entitles me to 15% off future services, so I saved a bunch on the laser facial, and since I have been getting Botox and fillers from Dr. Ip for many years, I will continue to do so at Vibrant Dermatology with 15% off! On that last note, I just wanted to praise Dr.Ips skill in doing Botox and fillers. Her goal is to make you look like the best version of yourself and I come away with just a refreshed look, not at all overdone or fake. She loves to do this and is a true artist. I really hope Dr. Ip succeeds in her new venture! It is great to see such a sleek addition to the world of medi spas, and I for one may be counted as one of her most loyal customers! read more

My experience when I went was decent. My current health insurance is tufts which was accepted here and was great! Until I got a call a month later when my next appointment was and the receptionist said I didn't qualify anymore and that they overlooked my insurance so I couldn't go there anymore. The dermatologist was nice and she told me what was wrong with my skin and prescribed medication for my face and another skin problem. It's now December and I don't see any results. I've broken out more on my face and I spent $150 on product. I asked the receptionist to at least ask the dermatologist to call me back about my skin problem and tell me "why it hasn't progressed at all?". I never got a call back and it's upsetting because I'm ashamed of my skin. It's EXACTLY THE SAME. Now apparently I'm not covered so I can't go there anymore and have to find another dermatologist and spend more $ on skincare. read more

I was prepared to just move on, but I continue to receive notifications that I owe $30. I owe nothing, in fact I feel that I should be due a refund! As a 50 yr old woman who has been seeing a dermatologist since my teenage years, I would not recommend this practice. I recently moved and wanted to establish a new Dr. since I visit every 6 months. I had just been to my regular Dermatologist before moving. For my first appt, I waited almost an hour to be seen and then was in the office for under 15 minutes. Dr removed 2 spots from my skin, that clearly my regular Dr did not think were worthy of this. That's really no problem just got me thinking, was it really necessary? I was seeing the Dr in order to have a consult for an IPL, a procedure that I have been having for years with great results. Typically after the IPL the spots on your face (or wherever you had the treatment) turn brown and eventually peel off over the next 2 weeks. A deposit was required in order to make an IPL appointment, which I made. As I mentioned, I am no stranger to IPLs. It struck me odd that the procedure only took about 15 minutes. I wasn't nearly as red as usual and I never had a single brown spot surface (except for a very small corner of a brown spot on my hand, the majority of the spot never turned, (I took pictures, 1 each week for 3 weeksand there is no difference). I was charged over $1000 for this procedure. In the past I have paid no more than $500 for this procedures done at my dermatologist office. I had zero result, nothing turned brown, nothing peeled and my spots remain. I wasn't even red the next day, which never happens. Before the IPL appt I was charged $30 which was credited the day of the appt as I was told it was automated in the system even though IPLs are not typically covered by insurance so there should be no copay. I am not a medical professional but I do have several years experience with IPLs to compare and the only thing I can come up with is that this Dr does not know how to perform IPLs. Seeing that the procedure was a fraction of the normal time, I am guessing the passes were not not done properly. It felt very rushed and the outcome showed it. My face looks no different after the IPL. While the procedure was in progress, I felt that the Dr was short and impatient with her staff as well as with me. It was actually uncomfortable. I asked for a prescription, same one that I have been taking for years. She asked the dosage I was talking, which I answered was 100mg. There was no discussion other than where to call it in. When I picked up the prescription it was called in for 50mg. If she did not want to prescribe the same amount why wouldn't she discuss with me at that time? I am sure many people are very happy with the care they receive from this Dr., but after this short sequence of events, I do not have confidence going forward and have found another Dermatologist for myself. It seemed more important for her to be in control than to start a patient relationship with me. Certainly for a laser procedure, I would recommend doing more research than I did...from a cost perspective as well as an experience level one. read more

beware!!!!!! do not go here for fillers/botox! let me start by saying this lady gave me the most traumatizing experience ever! i book a consultation with her to look at possible fillers. i arrive & im met with a nurse and i get rushed right into a room. and the nurse ask a couple of questions but never gave me forms yo fill out that asked about my previous medical history or allergic reactions. so after that the dr. joyce comes in and asks me for my conccern and she proceeds to tell me im a good candidate for lip fillers so im like okay great she said that she could do the procedure that day. which i was happy about so she said show me picture of my desired look. they put numbing cream on my best friend texts me and says get restalyne its better and she comes back in 20 mins later and i tell her i prefer restalayne she tells me "oh no honey juvederm will be better because it will give you a plumpl lip affect & last longer, i went to harvard i know what im doing" so im like ok fine ill do the juvederm. so she starts injecting remind you she never ask me where i specifically want the fillers she just starts injecting my bottom lip intensely and its super painful i felt every pinch of the needle. not once had she had asked me where did i want the injections she just kept injecting me time after time especially my bottom lip. i also noticed that there was a visible lump showing and she just tapped it and said it would go down in three days so im like ok cool. she says just take tylenol and your fine she never offered and ice pack nothing so i walk out and its my first time shall i mention and my lips looked plumped but normal. so the next day comes and there swollen which is expected but i noticed the lump was still there. after this day i noticed my mouth couldnt close all the way because my bottom lip hung over and i started developing more lumps in my lip and my face felt entirely heavy. the following day my lips got even worse they didnt go down they kept increasing in size. and my mouth wouldnt close at all. finally a crease started to develop on my top lip probably due to way too much volume. i look up injection dissolving and come across a different facility. upon seeing them they let me know that she put way too much filler in my lip for my first time and that i shouldve did restalayne. thye dissolved my lips and noticed that it was huge lumps in my lip that should not be visible i thankfully got all the filler removed! warning this lady doesnt care about her patients she never worried if it was big for me or not. she basically just did this because a patient cancelled and she was money hungry. if i could report any further i would she almost ruined my face and my life and i would like to have her investigated . she was super unprofessional. she tried to use being a woman of color as advantage with me and she didnt have my best interest. please dont waste your time find another doctor read more
