Had a facial with Heidi. Skin Spirit is expensive but the quality of care is excellent. Heidi did a dermaplaning treatment plus she was so enthusiastic about peels that I tried a gentle stage 1 peel at the end. My face looks calm, balanced and clear. That's after a very short night's sleep. Heidi was thorough but gentle, worked with my needs and concerns and had lovely energy. Plus the neck massage she gave was excellent. Great hands. LINDA BEHLA Go to see her! I am 36 years old and have just had my 2nd vial of sculptra 2 days ago... I am waiting patiently in between vials and so far so good. The laugh lines or my "nasolabial folds" have been my source of "I feel less than pretty days" and what bothers me the most when I look in the mirror. Linda is fabulous and no nonsense. She has a keen eye, sharp analysis, and a feel good opinion of what is best to make you look BEST. I think some fillers hold their value for certain areas of your face but they are temporary. Sculptra looks better, lasts longer, and overall helps build and stimulate collagen, or your body's own repair of collagen. You look natural, enhanced, and plumped. These are my new favorite adjectives. I will most likely be getting the recommended 3rd vial of Sculptra in month or two. Go see her for ALL your face concerns. Shawna always asks me how my skin has been doing since the last facial and then she puts together a regime to deal with whatever my issues are. I booked a consultation for dermal injections with Andrea but was so impressed with her knowledge and suggestions I stayed and had the treatment, and am beyond delighted with the result - far better than I had anticipated but subtle. Somehow I had expected it to be harder! No pain at all, careful step-by-step monitoring (including looking at the results from the top of my head to check for anomalies, what a good technique!) and straight back to work looking a little flushed. Skin Spirit in Mill Valley is hands down the BEST place to go if you are looking for fabulous skin, laser hair removal or full on cosmetic treatments. They have many different types of services offered from non-surgical facial procedures to managed weight loss. The staff is very knowledgeable, professional and the atmosphere is inviting. This is a legitimate doctors office for all practical purposes although it does not feel like you are at the doctors. There is delicious and refreshing cucumber water in the waiting room with comfy love seats and couch seating available. The front desk ladies are all very friendly and provide service with a smile!! Scheduling is easy and efficient. They offer email/SMS reminders which is very helpful for people with busy schedules. BIG hugs to Kelly, Katy, Madison, Brooke & Danielle. They are all so lovely I could not leave any of them out of this review. The ONLY esthetician I go to for facials is ALLISON who is nothing short of AMAZING!! Her energy is intoxicating and she makes the 90min fly by with silly, witty and intriguing conversation. I have been seeing her for almost a year now and she has transformed my skin completely. The micro derm treatment in addition with the pumpkin enzyme makes me feel like I have brand new skin so beautiful, soft and glowing. Everytime I leave Skin Spirit it makes my day so much better :)))))) I have also received laser hair removal treatments & dare I admit Botox from TORREY who is in my opinion ADORABLE. She is sweet as can be, informative about the procedures and very attentive and considerate about my concerns. The end results have exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier with the work she has performed. I would HIGHLY recommend both of these staff members if you are looking for the best although I'm sure the entire staff has the same wonderful attitude and service. Don't you hate it when friends are constantly telling you that you look tired, or ask if you are angry? I turned 50 not too long ago, and was getting fed up with strangers saying, "Cheer up, it can't be that bad." The aging in my face caused me to look as if I was always in a bad mood. I saw Kate Ratto at Skin Spirit (Mill Valley location) for an Ulthera treatment. She is very skilled and professional, and also happens to be a warm and friendly person. I felt I was in safe hands. (I'd never had anything 'done' before, so was naturally a little nervous.) She is so very patient when answering questions and explaining procedures (even though I'm sure she gets asked the same questions over and over with each client) -her unhurried, gentle manner is extraordinary... My impression is this is her vocation, not just 'a job'. (And she is so youthful in appearance herself; you may not realize that she does indeed have a lot of experience and qualifications.) I did not find the procedure too uncomfortable (although I have heard some find it painful) and got great results, especially in the area around my eyes -the proof is in the fact that I no longer get told I look tired, or asked, "What's wrong?". I saw Kate recently for a follow up visit -the staff very much check in with you and make sure you are comfortable and happy with the procedures/results. I wholeheartedly recommend the salon, the Ulthera treatment, and especially Ms. Ratto. I also have seen, and highly recommend, Linda Behla R.N. Kate suggested a series of IPL treatments would be ideal for treating my sun-damaged skin and ongoing problems with Rosacea. I needed a certain day and time for my visits, and so I got an appointment with Linda. She is really nice; friendly, funny and professional all at once. She is caring and empathetic -the IPL procedure can be a bit painful and she totally worked with me and made me as comfortable as possible. (I was kind of a wimp in fact, but she gets me through it.) The results are worth it, my skin looks much more even in tone, and is also much softer. Linda also is adept at sussing out products I can use at home. Anything she suggested was spot-on and worked great for me. She also checked in with me after each procedure to make sure I wasn't experiencing any discomfort or complications in the days after each session. Today Linda sent me home without getting the IPL treatment done, she spotted a medication change which I totally hadn't thought of -the procedure while I am on this medication was contraindicated. I trust in her and can recommend her to everyone. As a P.S., I want to add that I have had only positive experiences at the Skin Spirit salon...the environment is very clean and welcoming and comfortable. I have had two treatments at Skin Spirit. The first treatment was with Linda Behla. First, I would like to say that the results of the treatment were satisfactory. The process with Linda was not satisfactory. She was quite abrupt, cold and I felt did not take the time she could have with the procedure. I left with a burning face, neck and hands. To my surprise, today I went to Thena Holmen and had a completely different experience. She was gentle, kind and caring. I do not feel any burn and I will definitly request Thena for my next procedure. It is amazing to me to have a treatment that was so uncomfortable and agitating one time was actually, reasonably pleasant the next time. The five stars are for Thena and Skin Spirit itself. Also, when I phoned to make the appointment, the person had told me it would cost such and such for three treatments and that would include a facial. When I was taken into the room for the first treatment Linda told me that they had made a mistake when they quoted me and that a facial was not included with the treatments. I just had my second visit at Skin Spirit in Mill Valley and am excited to say my search for the perfect medical skin spa is over!!! I've been a beauty junkie for years and have written a couple reviews for other random spas in the past but in all honesty, most places have fallen short in getting my return loyalty. I did not stumble upon Skin Spirit by accident so I will preface this review by saying that I actually sought out Thena Holman, RN specifically to do my Botox. I was referred to her by several friends who were patients of hers in San Francisco and I was excited to locate her at Skin Spirit. She is pretty well known and respected as an aesthetic nurse and I'm glad I went the extra mile finding her because she delivered everything I had hoped for and more! She was sweet, calm, had a wonderful bedside manner and most importantly.......gave me the most perfect dose of youth I've seen in years. It feels like the first time :-) The facility itself is clean, beautiful and professional. Scheduling an appointment was simple and I was actually squeezed in with rather short notice. The receptionist was very sweet and friendly and never did I feel any pressure to purchase extra products. In fact, it happened to be my birthday and they tossed me a little birthday discount to soften the blow. They offer a range of services which I can't wait to try out. Although other spa's and offices offer Medical Spa services at discount bargain prices which are REALLY tempting at times, I maintain the philosophy that you get what you pay for. With Thena Holman, I got an expert treatment, it shows, it's my face and it is so worth it. That being said, the prices were still very competitive in my opinion. I highly recommend Skin Spirit, in particular Thena, RN for Botox. I'm sure the others are great as well. I have also had laser hair removal with Linda Behla, RN and highly recommend her as well. I got the best facial I have ever had since I left San Francisco (which was 3.5 years ago!) The facial was relaxing and my skin has been glowing ever since. Skin Spirit takes the spa experience to an entirely new level! The staff is so incredibly well trained and they use medical-grade products and tools. I had a Signature Facial and I also got Botox on an area of my face on the day I had gone in. Laura Asiano was my aesthetician for my facial. She was the most professional and knew the process so well. Laura first determined my skin's needs and my concerns. She later performed microdermabrasion, which was done so gently, but efficiently with a special diamond tip instrument. My skin was soft and ready for the myriad of other enzymes and masks that awaited me. Laura kindly explained each step. It's clear that she enjoys what she does and she does it well! After my facial, I met Tori, a registered nurse who administered my Botox. Tori is also an expert at her job. She asked me where my concerns were and together we decided what area of my face to put it. Though this was not my first time getting Botox, this was the easiest and definitely the most painless! Normally I bruise and I had absolutely NO bruising and no red bumps. To cap the experience off, I celebrated with a vitamin B-12 shot. My dog used to get this and I had always heard how great it is. I saw it on their A-la-Carte Menu and since it was only $25, I thought I'd give it a try. More energy and faster metabolism is what it's supposed to bring, so it can't hurt. I'm now a fan. Before Linda saved my face (and smarting ego), those folds were settling in for a long winter's nap -- not exactly the sugar-plum vision I wanted dancing in my head -- or anyone else's for that matter: soon enough, with the direction my countenance was determined to head, my droll mouth would indeed be drawn down like a saddening bow -- and adorned with a sash, or lady wattle, stealthing upward and onward and downward and utterly wayward -- a bane surely impossible to hide with any kerchief or cap. Fortunately, with a wink of her eye and a deft twist of her wrist, Linda was able, much to my wondering eyes, to dash away, dash away the greater scourges of age. And it's not just the magical manner in which she wields the syringe: Linda is the consummate professional, taking her time to assess and consider and personalize the cure -- and ever give me to know I have nothing to dread. But please leave room for heavenly Heather, as well, who I also hope to see in Santa's pack when I fly to the window and tear open the sash. I am not a high-maintenance type of girl but do enjoy an occasional splurge at the spa. I was fortunate to be assigned to Emme when I first visited my neighborhood spa- she was fantastic! I could tell immediately that she enjoyed her work and felt completely comfortable sharing with her my poor beauty habits. She didn't judge and instead made suggestions for changes that I could accept. This is why I followed her to SkinSpirit! My first experience with SkinSpirit was wonderful! Last month I decided I needed "the works. I went to Skin Spirit and saw Andrea who gave me both Botox and filler. The great thing about Andrea is she doesn't overdo. I thought I would walk out of there looking like a puffy pin cushion but when I got home there was no bruising, no swelling and I could go right out to dinner looking great. I hesitate writing this review only because I know it could lead to less available appointments for me! I have had problematic skin for years and spent far too much on pricey products and facials that perhaps worked on the surface, but never really changed the way my skin behaved. That was until I found Emme. She is different from other esthetician and looks to get results from every single appt you have. She tailors the appt based on how your skin is reacting that day- and even though she does extractions you are able to walk out the door feeling refreshed and not looking like you just had a facial. Thena and Skin Spirit are just the best if you want to keep the hands of the clock from advancing. I don't talk to anyone what I have done here, and no one has ever once looked at me and said, "What did you DO?" I don't want anyone to ask me that. But yesterday I had a new product, Voluma, put into an area that wasn't what I'd expect (it corrects loss of fullness in the mid-face/cheek area, which leads to subtle changes all around the actual filled area), as well as Juverderm around the marionette line area, went to my eye doctor later in the day (who I see once a year), and she instantly said, "You look so well rested!" Perfect. I know all the practitioners at Skin Spirit get raves from their clients, but I have to say, Thena is simply the best I've ever met for doing beautiful work, with a warm caring spirit and a great eye.
