I was referred to Dr. Zhu by my trusted primary care physician, but my experience at this office was nothing short of awful. The level of care was appalling, and I am still deeply upset by what I went through. To start, I was one of the first patients of the day, and the waiting area was empty. Yet, when I was finally called back, the staff member called out the wrong name--twice--while looking directly at me with an annoyed expression. It was an unprofessional and uncomfortable start to the visit. Once I was in the exam room, I was handed the smallest gown imaginable, leaving me barely covered and extremely uncomfortable. When Dr. Zhu entered, she was alone and immediately launched into nonstop personal questions while rolling me around for the initial check-up. I barely had a chance to speak, and the entire exam felt rushed and dismissive. Then, the worst part--while I was turned on my side, exposed, the door suddenly opened without a knock or warning, and the same staff member who had checked me in walked right in. She stood there as if this was completely normal, neither acknowledging the intrusion nor apologizing for not giving me any notice. I was mortified. There was zero regard for my privacy or comfort. The experience continued to decline when it came to my test results. Over a week later, I received an automated email from LabCorp late on a Friday night, stating that my results were in. When Monday came, I waited all day for a call from the doctor--nothing. I finally left a message around 1 PM, and by 4 PM, with still no response, I called again. This time, a random male staff member gave me my biopsy results over the phone. Midway through telling me that one of the biopsy sites was pre-cancerous melanoma, he put me on hold--only to come back and casually inform me that I needed to come back in two months for a follow-up. To this day, I never received a follow-up call from Dr. Zhu herself. No explanation, no reassurance--nothing. And to top it off, I am now stuck paying an outrageous bill for the subpar, careless treatment I received. Her prices are overinflated for the lack of professionalism and quality of care provided. I have never felt so violated, disregarded, and uncomfortable in a medical setting. This experience was not only unprofessional but completely unacceptable. I will never return to this office and will continue sharing my experience to warn others. If this review can prevent even one person from enduring what I did, then it was worth writing. read more

Dr Zhu is the worst doctor I have ever been treated by. She does not listen. She only wants to hear herself talk. She is condescending and a bully. She completely dismissed what my primary care physician told me and felt the need to say she is a doctor too and not just a Dermatologist. I would never see her again. read more

The first year, Dr. Zhu did a thorough body check for me and my husband. The next year, terrible. I told the intake person who came to take a history, about a concern I wanted to discuss. I never got the chance; Dr. Zhu was in a hurry and talked over me on a tangent about gluten (didn't pertain to my concern). Being a medical professional, I am aware of how a proper physical assessment should be done; she only did a minimal body check and was in/out maybe 5 min. I called the office to ask if she billed for a full body and they stated yes. I disputed this and asked to have it re-billed. Dr. denied the request. The following week, I came with my husband to his appointment and timed the visit on my phone. Total visit time, including removal of a lesion, 6 min 7 sec. We never received a call from the office for his results; he found them in his portal as "pre-cancerous." I called to complain that we hadn't been notified and was told (with attitude) that they had called twice, and gave the dates and times. No voicemails or missed calls were listed on our phones and I checked our cell phone records from the number they said they called from. No calls, between the date of the appointment and two weeks after they stated they called. Someone documented on his record calls that weren't made. read more

Went in for a skin check the worst, fast/ non thorough check i have ever had! i am a medical provider so am aware of what good practice is whole check must have taken 2 minutes! never used a device to look closely just scanned her eyes would definitely not recommend oh yes she is very charming no doubt but really! but charming is not good practitioner! read more

I have been seeing her for 10 years, since cystic acne in my teens, all the way to skin checks as often as I can get there. Even after moving to different states, I try to always come back to her because she really is the best. Her front office staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly. I had a unique situation where I was flying in from out of town (yes, she's that good) and they were able to squeeze me in to a convenient time for me after the airline changed my flight time. I can't say enough about Dr Zhu . I was seeing a dr. in Boulder. He wanted to do a surgical procedure which would have cost 1200. I decided for a second opinion and went to dr..z. as recommended by my very research oriented friend. He researches everything thoroughly. Dr Z. said , there's a new cream that reduces basil cell skin cancers..she was right! I did my research on the cream... its all they use in NY and LA...and it worked. No scars! No surgery! $50 office visit. Stay out of Boulder and try Dr ZHU. .. also, NO wait time. She's quick and efficient, but will answer questions thoroughly, you just have to ask. great staff too read more

I have been seeing Dr Isabel Zhu (pronounced Drew) for at least a decade here in Westminster. My facial skin is way more sensitive then the rest of my hide and I worry since facial cancer runs in my family. Dr Zhu's thorough examinations puts my worry to rest, but further what I like most are her preventative measures and her solid/honest console. I've had horrendous cystic acne for years. Finally, I decided to see a doctor. Sadly, I chose Dr. Zhu. I went to her with the bad symptoms and she looked at my skin and said "It's not that bad!" Honestly, such a comment is ridiculous. My skin did not have one square inch that was not bright red and swollen. She prescribed me 2% Benzol Peroxide, which did nothing. After that, she had me get blood work done so she could put me on antibiotics. I went and got it done paying $75 for the full blood work. Then they call me a few days later and said my lipids were elevated because I 'didn't fast'. I did fast before the blood work. I gave it a full 12 hours as they recommended. I got the blood work done AGAIN and now they gave me results. I go back to the doc and she says "Oh sorry, but I can't give you any antibiotics." ... wait... really? What was all the blood work for then? She then tells me she doesn't believe in antibiotics (because bacteria eventually become resistant) and that I just need to get a new topical. I told her I wouldn't have it and she said "Just find another doctor then." HORRIBLE. After all that money, literally nothing got done. I spent close to $450 with three visits and two sets of lab work. She is a sad excuse for a 'doctor'. More like a scam artist. STAY AWAY! Find a REAL doctor! read more

This is for the Westminster location: I would NEVER refer anyone let alone go back to this place if someone paid me. I have had nothing but terrible experiences with this place. I called to get an appointment and not only did they schedule me for the incorrect time but also the date. So I took off 2 days from work to go to appointments that had not even been scheduled correctly. I then gave them 1 more chance. I go in today and they told me that my insurance has not been verified so I could pay cash if i wanted to be seen. I let them know I did not have a card from my insurance company and for them to pull it up with my SSI #. They tried to tell me they could not however I have worked with insurances for many years and I know for a fact that you can pull it up with that. The receptionist girl went back to talk to the Dr. and a couple secs. later she comes back up saying either way we will have to reschedule you or again you can pay cash. I let them know I WILL NOT EVER be coming back here. If these people cant even get their s@*t together to check insurances or schedule appointments correct, I sure as s#*t do not trust then touching my skin. Please rethink about going to this place unless you feel like dealing with a headache and hot mess. PS: I asked for either the office manager to call me back or Dr. and they don't even have that much respect to return a phone call. read more

My first and only appointment at this location and practice. Dr. Zhu seemed to be in a rush when she helped me. Had me in and out in 5 minutes. I have scalp psoriasis and she gave me a year supply of Fluocinonide. I called to have them refill my Rx. Dr. Zhu out of the country till next month. Need to set up and appointment with her to get the refill. I can't wait that long. Only option is to go to their boulder location which is a HUGE inconvenience because it's so far. DR. I went in knowing what condition we were dealing with, couldn't get a word in edgewise with the Doc! She told me everything I already knew! Wouldn't listen that it had already been a year dealing with this issue, told me it would be cleared up in a month doing what we had been doing already for a year! Dr Zhu treated me for the mild adult acne I have been dealing with for years. She is very thorough and really listened to my concerns about different treatments. My case was particularly difficult due to the dermatitis I also experience, and she did a great job treating both issues, while also not over-irritating my skin (as previous drs had done). I am new to Colorado, so needed to find a new Dermatologist, as I have a history of Melanoma. Dr. Zhu was just wonderful. She took five spots off, with one of them being quite serious. The recommendation was to go in much deeper to get clear margins. it was right under my jaw, and she did an amazing job! The scaring is minimal, and fortunately the report came back clear. She will be checking on me every 3 months, just to keep a good eye on my moles. I feel fortuate to find such a skilled Dr. She also is kind, efficient, and easy to talk to. Dr. Zhu was able to quickly solve my problem and was the only one to give me a cream that actually works to alleiveate symptoms while my body begins to recover. I had an extremely frustrating experience with Dr. Yan I. Zhu at the Skinwise Clinic in Westminster, CO. Dr. Zhu did not listen to my concerns about my acne. After I explained I was allergic to a key ingredient in the topical medication she perscribed, she told me that it was the only option available. She told me, "Just try it out, I'm sure it will work." It didn't work and a severe rash developed all over my skin. She then wanted to perscribe accutane, which is a highly potent drug with many side effects that was in no way needed for my mild, adult acne. I later visited a different dermatologist and learned that there are a myriad of different acne treatments available for mild adult acne. I did not find Dr. Zhu to be at all helpful or competent in her position as a dermatologist. read more

My first experience with Skinwise Dermatology Clinic was less to be desired. I felt rushed, my wishes were overlooked and suggestions regarding medication were expensive. I went to Skinwise for acne as well as a suspicious mole. I also wanted to discuss which medications would be okay for when we started trying for a baby over the next year. I requested antibiotics rather than topical because the topical medications bleach my clothes and make my skin continuously red and peeling. Dr. Zhu had the medication ready for me to checkout within one min of her arrival into the exam room. There were no other options provided nor was my concern about pregnancy discussed without me bringing it up again. I had to again ask Dr. Zhu to look at the mole as she was already trying to leave the exam room. Lastly, her support staff was also questionable, as it was apparent that they were ready to go home and not much service from their end was provided either. Its been over a month and I have yet to fill my prescription because that's not what I wanted. So now my concern is to again go on something that I don't like or pay another $50.00 for a consultation somewhere else. I had broke out in a rash and I was recommended by someone to see Dr. Zhu at the Skinwise Dermatology Clinic at the Westminster location. I called to make an appoitment as a new patient. I was told I was already a patient which confused me because I never been to this dermatologist before. I then see Dr. Zhu I showed her the rash that was on my legs and arms. She just looked at me and assumed I broke out in something I ate or drank which didn't make sense to me because of how it spread. I wasn't in there maybe 10 minutes for her to tell me to stay out of the sun and wear long sleeve pants and shirts and perscribed me anti itch cream which didn't help me. She didn't take the time to actually exam me. I was then charged $85 for her to tell me basic information and nothing was done to me. I went to get a second option from my primary physician clinic which they seem to be more helpfull then this dermatologist. I figured out myself what I was allergic to which was definitely not something I ate or drank. I cancelled my follow up appointment at the Skinwise Clinic because it would have been a waste of time. I felt she could have taken the time to ask me more questions and could have done more. I would not recommend this dermatologist. read more

I have been pleasantly surprised with both of my visits to Skinwise Dermatology. For years I went to another dermatology practice in Westminster, but always felt very rushed during my visits so I recently shopped around and found Dr. Zhu. What has impressed me the most about Dr. Zhu is that she has gone out of her way at both of my visits to give me treatment options based on my insurance/deductible. She makes sure that I am aware of what options x, y, z will cost before she proceeds. This last visit she gave me instructions for treating my skin condition at home, so that I don't have to come in for follow up visits. It is clear that she cares more about her patients than her own pocketbook. During my most recent visit, I asked her a question about a sunspot on my face (which was not the reason for my visit) and she offered to treat it then and there. My last dermatologist would have made me schedule a follow up visit. Her front office staff and nurses are very friendly and personable. I am very happy with her services and will recommend her to my friends. read more
