Great value! Shrimp meal with soft drink under $10....and it is really GOOD. They also do other fish baskets. Their prices & what is included is clear & accurate. If there were something to make this better it would be to have lower calorie sides....green salad would be appreciated. I like fries, shrimp, and fish. But the menu is small and we waited for over 20 minuets for ordering food and left because the menu was confusing and the staff didn't seam like they didn't' care. Try the meal deal. We had an office meeting and ordered the meal deal that included shrimp, chicken strips, fish, fries, Mac n cheese and iced tea. I usually eat the shrimp and was very pleased that the fish and the chicken were so tasty. The chicken was tender and juicy inside and nice crispy brown on the outside. My wife and I came here on a Saturday night for dinner. Probably the worst shrimp Po'Boy I have had. We didn't receive our food until 40 minutes after ordering. My Po'Boy wasn't flavorful, didn't come with lettuce or tomato and didn't taste Fresh. The food wasn't hot at all, we would've taken it back but didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for our food. My wife had the shrimp and whiting plate with mac and cheese. The basket looked pitiful, the fish was soggy and greasy and the shrimp lacked flavor. Was visiting home and my family told me about some new seafood place that popped up in Colonial Heights. They said, "Skrimp Shack" and I thought they were just purposely saying it wrong. haha I had to try it. Overall, it's a nice establishment that doesn't try to get over you. The portion sizes are great, the prices are competitive, and the service is always pretty good. I usually order the fish (trout) and shrimp basket. The shrimp are always a nice size and freshly made, the trout is usually the same, but sometimes seems like it is cut thin or something. I mean, that's probably not the case, but overall pretty good. I went to the restaurant in Hopewell. It was clean and attractive. The girl at the register was polite and got a rather large order exactly right. I saw other employees go out of their way to help anyone who needed it. The food was fresh and hot, it was also delicious! First time at Shrimp Shack in Colonial Heights. Got take out shrimp N fish basket with a flounder upgrade. Shrimp were on point for me, flounder strips we're good, but I'll try the other offerings. Fries were how I like them, except getting soggy (5 minute drive home). They packaged all food and condiments all together in a styrofoam box with holes in 2 corners. I would urge the owners to stop using styrofoam. Even with a couple holes, condensation builds fast. Try cardboard boxes with vents in the top. Put wax paper in the bottom and do not cover the top of the food. Package fries separately from the fish and do not include condiments in a hot box. You can get these at Restaurant Depot and I'm sure Sysco, US Foods, and PFG has them too. read more

This has to be one of the best places locally to go for seafood at least in the Colonial Heights area. My wife and I had the baskets of skrimps wish were fried to perfection. It is worth noting that their shrimp is not tiny and that the word jumbo is used fairly. We will be back to try the fried oyster po boy next week. read more

The customer service is horrible. I went to this establishment this evening at 8:57 pm the light "open" was still shining when I walked in. I came in right behind another lady that parked right after me im the parking lot. I waited for her to complete jeer order while I looked over the menu being it was my first time coming here. As I walked up a gentleman in the back "yells we have shut everything down" to the cashier with great irritation. She explains how the woman came in before 9 it just took a long time for her to order. She then looks at me to say they are closed and I informed her I too came in before 9 and she tells me "no it was 9:02 and the light was off". As I walked out other patrons shook their heads in disbelief. I will not be going back. Update: I received an email from the founder today 3/1 and she apologized for this behavior. Cashier let a crazy lady make everyone wait 20 mins in line instead of getting the manager. They were out of oysters and haddock at 4:30pm on a Tuesday. When I asked and the manager approved crab cake vs scallops for the Fat Boy special instead of full scallops and oysters when they were out of oysters, I got home to find no crab cake but extra wrong fish strips instead. I have been here about 6 times and have never been disappointed. It's always clean, the employees are super friendly. The fish sandwiches have enough fish for 2 sandwiches. The shrimp are a good size. All the sides are delicious. Especially the roasted corn. The corn has bacon and onions in it. Yummy! Food quality is good if you like fried shrimp, and a great value for the shrimp basket that includes a drink, a side and 12 large shrimp for just around $10. Not a fan of the atmosphere. It's basically like a fast food take out joint but not fast. They do have tables and chairs and it was clean. We arrived at 5:16pm on a Thursday eve, placed our order, then upon paying were told it would be 25-30 min wait. And it was just that, so at least they had accurate timing. (you place your order at the counter then someone will deliver to your table when your number is called, beverages are self serve at the beverage counter and extra sauce has to be ordered at the counter for .50cents extra) The first time I tried their food a co-worker ordered take out and I thought it was excellent. I still think the food is good, but from now on I will just call ahead then pick up. It appears to be quite popular thus far and a nice addition for Colonial Heights. read more

You can order sides, they have a combo thing, but with the amount of seafood that you get, you really do not have room for anything else. Great seafood fastfood place. I have had the Tilapia sandwich which is so thick it could have been at least two sandwiches. They put 3/4 pound of fish on the sandwich. They have a nice variety of fish and even a nice kids meal menu for those kids that won't eat fish or shrimp. It is very tasty and busy. Lunch hour is ridiculously busy and most any weekend night. Second visit....we thought new opening jitters were to blame and decided to give Skrimp Shack another try. Young woman who waited on us was pleasant. The food came out fairly quickly and very hot. The shrimp were hot, but.... overcooked, bland, tasteless with a rubbery texture. The coleslaw was not very good and the packets of seafood sauce were awful. I don't know how they can mess up catsup and horseradish, but the "sauce" was disgusting. The menu prices are very ambitious for the quality of food being served. Also, it was a warm afternoon and we arrived just before the supper rush....it was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. The supper rush ended up being about 8 people. We are done.
