This restaurant is at a new hotel. The architecture and grounds of the property are beautiful! My favorite part about this restaurant was the design and decor. Wow!! Flawlessly decorated for Santa Fe style and elegance. Food was good, but not stand out. Note: we were there for lunch. Service wasn't great. Really slow, which is typical in Santa Fe, but you expect more from a resort of this caliber. I'd come again for dinner to try out that menu. read more

My husband and I sat at the bar for dinner because they were fully booked for the night. We had a great time from the moment we stepped foot onto the property. Eddie warmly greeted us and directed us to the restaurant while also telling us the history of the property. We ordered the hamachi (a must!), quail ensalada (delicious), tortilla soup (it was good but I'd try something else the next time), and the Nilgai (delicious). Their cocktails are amazing-Derrick Is an incredible mixologist. I highly recommend visiting and having dinner at the bar, the service was great, the views are stunning, and the food is delicious. The Good: Beautiful restaurant in a lovely setting at the newly refurbished Bishop's Lodge. The brunch item I had was excellent: the Chop Chop salad with (added) grilled shrimp. The servers were absolutely fantastic. I wish I had gotten their names. The Not-So-Good: Hubs had the Flapjacks. He did not like them, though perhaps others would. Not sure what kind of flour they used, but the color of the jacks was sort of a chestnut color. I tasted them and thought they were interesting. The bill arrived and hubs was busy talking to the waitress and didn't spend any time checking it before adding a tip and signing. The next day he looked at the receipt. They added a 20% service charge!!! For a table of 2?? He added a generous tip on top of this because ...duh...he didn't check the bill. There was also an item on the bill that we did not recognize at all. I will probably still call them about this and the svc chg. Conclusion: Not sure we'll return soon. I think they still have some kinks to work out. read more

I would love to give this experience a good rating but the pan seared chicken was nothing more than sous vied dried out chicken. After complaining that the chicken was dry and not pan seared my husbands dish was taken back and we were told he would get a new chicken only to have his food returned and told that is the same chicken but it was pan seared this time. Also the rice that came with one of the meals was soggy and tasteless. Any kitchen should be able to cook a staple rice. We were sadly disappointed as everyone else at the front of the house is amazing but the kitchen could use some work. read more

The food here was absolutely incredible. I think I ordered the brisket tacos 4x over my 3-day stay. The whole grilled fish was so fresh & perfectly cooked, the crispy fish tacos were light and delicious, and the cocktails were phenomenal! My family and I dined here every day at least once, and each time, the staff was so kind, offering spot-on recommendations and an enjoyable experience. When the whether was warmer, we sat on the patio overlooking the stunning scenery! We waited in the lobby for 20 minutes to speak to the host to check in for our reservation. We finally got seated, but more than 1.5 hours after we arrived, we were sitting at the table with empty glasses of wine and still no entree. We're actually still here. And bored. And hungry. And waiting. But we are expected to pay a 20% service charge... but, um, the service wasn't great because they were super understaffed. UPDATE: The food finally came! The pork belly was delicious, and the mole was incredible. However, the potatoes were not fully cooked and the sweet potato purée was inedible. The barramundi (market fish) was great. Overall, food was hit or miss but the whole experience was meh. I do not recommend. UPDATE #2: We voiced our complaints re super slow service and various inedible items. They took the entrees off of our bill. read more

We went during happy hour. A 20% service charge was added to our bill, which is fine. However, the 20% was on non happy hour prices (prices that were not on our menu), so we were actually charged 30% gratuity and were taxed on that 30%. The server told us that the gratuity went to the kitchen and bar and anything additional went to her. So, not realizing we already paid 30% gave her another $20 because she made us believe we were tipping the kitchen and the bar. Once we got home we realized we paid 50% in gratuity. This is all very shady for a 5 star hotel. Will never return. read more

I ate at a restaurant with friends, the service was courteous, the food arrived slowly, a burrata salad that was very salty. For the main course, I ordered a risotto with salmon, which was delicious until I got a bone stuck in my throat that appeared in the salmon. It is possible that the salmon will be a very large bone that the chef will miss... I am very disappointed that I paid for the food that I took out of my mouth in the bathroom. ... read more

I made a reservation over the phone and received a menu by email. No record of the reservation when I arrived. At first it seemed like this was going well for a lunch of 4. Got our drinks and ordered our meal. That was the last we saw of the waitress. After waiting at least 45 min I asked a manager privately what is going on with our meal. He made it happen but it is obvious that the training needs to be stepped up. He offered us all a second free drink...we got only one free. Things like bringing utensils, taking dishes away after everyone is done...common practices need attending. Probably best to wait awhile so they can get trained and a proper groove. The food was superior and I do recommend this restaurant for its excellence in food preparation. read more

I'm sorry to say the ambiance does not meet the food nor the service provided. Under staffed and not well trained we get that;I know what I want to eat. The challenge comes when you see no one for a half hour only to find the order was never placed. No "I'm sorry" just an "what did you want" response. Ahhh such is life. Cool place though. read more

A lovely atmosphere with tables that are spaciously arrayed. A group of us gathered for lunch on a Saturday afternoon in February. I ordered Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The Eggs Benedict were very good. The side of potatoes was inedible--way too salty. The wait staff did not inquire why I left the spuds virtually untouched. When the server cleared my plate I asked her to please tell the chef that the potatoes had too much salt. No one offered to bring me something else nor did they offer to adjust my bill. I expect better when dining in an Auberge property. read more

My husband and I have eaten at the bar several times over the past 8 months. The setting is beautiful, the bartenders are great. The bar menu is really limited but we always order the bison burger which in the past had always been outstanding. It was flavorful and juicy and included some special type of marmalade jam(?) that was spread on the bun until this last visit on 7/6. The bison burger we were served was one of the worst that we have ever eaten- so tasteless it needed a ton of ketchup to make it edible and thrown together on the plate with a bunch of fries. What has happened here? New chef? New supplier? As much as we love the place we aren't even tempted to return. read more

While we enjoyed the food, there was an inordinate amount of pressure from the host, the server and the waitstaff to add additional tip to what was already an established amount of 20 percent being charged for our dinner cost. As a result, we won't go back to SkyFire. Stop the pressure! read more

Decor is impeccable, setting is perfect. Quintessential Santa Fe done right. Dinner service was right on. It seems that the staff and kitchen are getting their legs and standing up what I would predict will be a "go to" high end experience for special occasions and culinary delight. Market fish was prepared perfectly as well as the Elk and Scallops. Drinks are above par. Not an inexpensive endeavor to be sure, but worth it for many reasons. Kudos to Walter, Evan, Melissa, David, Ella, Stacey, Stephanie, Becky, Santos and the rest of the team. Very enjoyable. All getting their game on! Don't miss the Green Chile Stew when available. My family ate Thanksgiving dinner there (we are locals). We had been many times before to Bishops Lodge when it was under the old ownership, & enjoyed their buffet some years at Thanksgiving and at Christmas. It has changed. (My husband & I even spent our wedding night there many years ago) This was sit down with 2 meat choices, turkey roll or salmon. The turkey roll was underwhelming, and my salmon was dry. Our waitress abandoned us once we had our meals, did not clear our plates. I had to find a manager & ask about dessert, which turns out was displayed on a table & was choose your own, a small assortment of little pies in individual throw away tins like you might buy in a grocer's freezer department. My choice of chocolate pecan pie was swimming in watery chocolate & quite cool; I couldn't eat it. On the plus side, the salads were wonderful. We expected a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner; seems they could have at least put these desserts on small plates, but they didn't bother. We are happy to pay top price for a beautiful feast, but this was shameful. 4 people & the bill was right over $700, including a 20% tip which is added automatically (no alcohol, just one coke). We had so looked forward to this, & felt dissapointed & robbed. read more

Setting and ambience 6 miles north of the town at Bishop's Lodge were inviting, relaxed. Excellent service. Waiter recs were spot on. Fine dining northern New Mexico style. Wife and I had cocktails with chipotle shishito peppers for app. Then an incredible tuna tartare tostada. Her entree was a trumpet mushroom risotto with green chiles - smooth, rich, yummy. I had pork belly with mole - the good mole, savory but not too sweet. All were waiter recs and we could not have been more satisfied. First time here since the major reno. Wow! What an incredible dining experience. Skyfire is the best restaurant I've been to in Santa Fe. Bishops Lodge is beautifully maintained and the outdoor patio at Skyfire has a stunning view of the surrounding mountains for as far as the eye can see. The cocktails were inventive and delicious and the food was superb. The Mesa Grilled Whole Fish is a must try! To top it off we had excellent service. I highly recommend Skyfire and will definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

Painful is the first word that comes to mind. Ripoff is the second. I've actually never taken the time to write a review on Yelp before, that's how bad my experience was. I love Bishop's Lodge...I even got married there in 2005, So I was very excited about the re-opening. My husband and I went about a month ago with another couple on a Monday night. We wanted to book at 7pm but were told that they could only do 8pm. This felt a little late given that we have young children, but took the time anyway. When we got there, there was literally NO ONE in the restaurant, so that definitely made us angry. The food is priced at the most expensive levels of New York City and Los Angeles. With prices at that rate, it better be SUPERB and NO MISTAKES. The food was almost inedible and the mistakes just kept coming. We had a salad with grilled fennel that was barely cut and barely cooked, so impossible to actually EAT. The bison steak arrived bleeding and blue (I asked for it medium rare - to their credit they removed it from the bill). There were so many little mistakes with our order that we stopped saying anything (bison burger, cheese, no mayo arrived with mayo, no cheese for example). We are locals in Santa Fe who love to eat out. Why not lower the prices (so any mistakes will be forgiven, and not have crazy expectations for how the food tastes), and fill the tables with locals? I'm sure the hotel guests would much prefer a fun, life-filled bar and restaurant. This place feels dead, and based on the food and pricing, it will be soon. read more
