Their literal signature topping "freshly shredded cheese" was absent from our 4-Way with Beans and 5-way with beans and onions, which I guess they didn't want to give us onions either. The chili itself is entirely too sweet. The spaghetti noodles are flavorless and lacking. The only saving grace is their hot sauce which is repackaged Texas Pete, which we had to pour 4 packets each onto our bowls. The chili cheese fries were in a vat of separating oil and soggy fries, as if they were sitting and waiting to be be given to the next unfortunate soul to come to the window. I'm giving them 1 star because they gave us milk bones at the window for our small dog, otherwise this review would qualify as 0 stars if I could rate it that low. Super, SUPER disappointed in this experience despite reading and hearing rave reviews about this place. Will not return. Super friendly and attentive. If it is your first visit, they will provide you with a sample of the 3 way chili (spaghetti noodles, chili, and cheese... lots of cheese). They make their chili different, so keep an open mind. My favorite thing to order is the 4 way chili. It comes in small, regular, or large. I made the mistake of ordering a large today because I wanted leftovers and I barely made a dent. I think I have leftovers for a week! My husband ordered a cheese coney and burrito which he enjoyed. He did say the coney was better. The coney are on the smaller side, so you will probably need to order two, or even three if you ate super hungry! While they have a drive thru and it is "fast food", they also provide table service where they take your order, bring your food and provide refills. As a native Cincinnati-ans, we've been waiting for Skyline to open in Lakewood Ranch with bated breath. And it totally delivered. If you're new to the deliciousness that is Skyline Chili, there are two classic options: 3-ways and coneys. A 3-way is: a layer of spaghetti, a layer of thin and flavorful chili, and a huge mound of cheese. You can add onions and/or beans, turning it into a 4 or 5-way. Now, here's what's important: to achieve maximum 3-way deliciousness, the proper way to eat your 3-way is to turn your dish parallel to your body and CUT each bite with your fork to get each layer of goodness in each bite (see photos below). Don't spin your spaghetti with your fork, at risk of splashing yourself and your neighbors! Use those oyster crackers to soak up the chili juice so you don't require one of those dumb plastic bibs. Me and my wife never leave Skyline Chili disappointed! We've heard about it from our Ohio friends, and it really does hit spot. I've lived in Florida my whole life and my wife was born and raised in Puerto Rico, but we can both agree on eating here at least a couple times a month. We love to get exactly what is pictured! We split a few of the coneys, and both get the 5-ways. They don't serve actual bowls of chili (what I thought when I first went) but more of a chili sauce that is really yummy on top of their spaghetti with a mountain of cheese. Um...well, the food isn't bad....it's just made for "Elves", and very pricy for the amount of food you do get. I first saw the coney dogs (2.50$) when I got home and thought that they gave us the kids menu portion, but nope it's regular size...to them. I can't imagine what size they give for the kids menu, and we got a chili cheese fries, figured at 7$ that should feed 2...nope wrong again! Now saying all that, the chili was decent, nothing special and the hotdogs were just run of the mill for being half the size of a regular hotdog. We won't be going back there. Our first time eating here. We are from Cincinnati where Skyline originated and they are the largest brand of chili parlors. The stuff served here at the Bradenton location is the real deal. Please realize that Cincinnati chili is unique--it has some cinnamon in it and has a sweeter taste than regular chili. And it is meant to be served over top of spaghetti, then topped with grated cheddar (3-way), with onions or beans (4-way) or both (5-way) And it is also put on a hot dog with mustard and onions, then topped with cheese to make a cheese coney. If you are trying it for the first time, you will either like it or you won't. If you don't like it, please don't give this place a low rating for serving you a correctly made product. Our server was friendly and attentive. I was also surprised to see a freezer by the register containing Glier's goetta, another famous Cincinnati product and the best brand of it. So it took me about 2 years before I finally came here. I was excited to try the chili cheese dogs. The dogs were pretty small but it was covered with chili and piled high with cheese. When I bit into it I was somewhat confused. The chili had a weird flavor to it, almost like a curry taste. I was definitely expecting a completely different flavor of chili. It was nice to discover this Skyline Chili location while visiting Sarasota. It brought back memories of living in Cincinnati years ago. This felt like a new franchise location -- a relatively large and open restaurant, easy parking, new and clean, with fast and friendly service, and the staff seemed eager to please. Everyone in our group got a small free sample of a "three way" (spaghetti/chili/cheese) before we ordered, the waitress put bibs on all of us, and the drinks were bottomless. I was happy with my regular "three way" and one cheese coney. It's been my experience that going to Skylines in Ohio has always been "hit or miss"; this one in Florida is a hit. I was so excited for this place. My friends hyped it up and my husband and I scheduled time to be able to go here with our son to try it out. TLDR: bad food but great everything else. Very clean building and they seem to work well with a lot of patrons at once. They were packed for lunch and we got our food really quick. Cons: Unless you grew up in the area that this place started, the concept of putting chili on noodles is odd and doesnt work. The chili tastes off and the cheese never had a chance to melt so it just kinda sat on top of everything. The rest of what we tried was kinda blah. We wanted so badly to be impressed but we were just left wondering how our friends could eat here. The lovely server brought over samples for us to try before we ordered. Thank goodness for that! We were so off in our assumptions that had I spent 7 or 8 dollars on their signature dish, I would've been a little upset. We ended up ordering food that didnt have chili at all just to see if something could redeem it and we were let down again. Buffalo chicken wrap was soggy and luke warm. We are very happy to have something new in the area! The service is great and everyone is super friendly. The staff is very young, which I appreciate because kids need to learn these service-oriented skills. But even with a young staff, the kids work hard and are very attentive.
