In 2015 my Ohio native friend introduced me to the joy that is Skyline Chili. As other reviews have mentioned, it's not the chili you're likely thinking of - the signature dish is composed of spaghetti, Cincinnati-style chili, and shredded cheese in pillowy piles. We were so excited to have Skyline in Florida on a recent trip to Anna Maria Island; it was worth the 30-minute drive! Our service was prompt and exceptional, and the owner came by to chat since he sensed our extreme enthusiasm. We each had the 3-way (one made vegetarian) and ordered cheese fries for the table. Service was prompt and courteous. The flavor of the chili is unfamiliar as it has cinnamon in it. Just not a flavor I expect when eating chili. If you grew up with it you will love it. If not then who knows. The hot dogs are small and just average. On the other hand the Greek salad was the best thing we had. read more

This is the absolute worst chili I've ever eaten in my life. It was so bad, we threw it out. I hate to waste food, but if you're not enjoying it, I'm not going to force myself. In addition to being somewhat runny, it had the weirdest flavor for chili. I've read previous comments that it's greek style, but still - yuck! The salad was good, but don't waste your time or money on this place. We do not recommend, and will not be going back. read more

We drive about 25 miles to Skyline at the Lakewood Ranch location. Not one time have I ever left this establishment dissatisfied. The food and the service was great. Would highly recommend this restaurant. We would go there more often if it was closer. read more

I eat at Skyline from time to time due to it being the only Chili chain my town. I still prefer Gold Star, Camp Washington and Dixie Chili, but convenience usually wins and Skyline is convenient. Overall no complaints ever about staff or the food, the sauce is just lacking in mind breaking flavor, and that always has been the case. read more

If you're unsure, Google Cincinnati Style chili (greek recipe), that way you wont be disappointed if you're expecting thick chili with beans and large chunks of ground beef. Awful. My son wouldn't even eat the plain hotdog... it was plain! But tasted terrible. I got a chili dog and it was also gross. Chili had too much cinnamon or something in it. The hotdogs themselves had a funky taste... don't know what. French fries were also awful... needed salt, SO bland. My water bottle had the wrapper taken off...strange. And the kids meal was supposed to come with a dessert and we didn't get anything. I don't know how you could mess up hotdogs and fries but this place does. YUCK read more

Definitely not my favorite. I decided to give this a try with my friend. Had heard good things from others. Walking in many tables were dirty. Tables not wiped down, cheese and spaghetti on the seats/chairs and food all over the floor. Only a couple customers. Staff looked busy but no one was cleaning. We tried takeout from here last night: a chili burrito each for us and hotdogs for our boys. It was the worst takeout I've ever had. The burrito box was full with 80% lettuce and cheese, and buried at the bottom was the tiniest burrito I've ever seen. Worse still, the burrito was dry, had no flavor, and there was nothing in it. I went here because a guy at work said he loved the place and has been going there for years, starting up north somewhere. Anyway, if you're a chili lover, stay away. The chili has to be from a can, doesn't taste like chili and has no spice to it. The coney dog was okay once you got past the mounds of cheese they use to drowned out the horrible tasting chili on top. Nothing was fresh, it all tasted like no name canned food you buy from Dollar General. How this place is still in business is beyond me. Server was great and that's why I gave them 1 star! As a native of Louisville, this was my go to spot for lunch or late night snacks. Moved to California and only get to have Skyline when I'm home. Came to Florida for vacay and was sooooo excited to see this location had opened. Yes, it's weird, but that's what makes it wonderful. We had the 5-Way Chili choice ~ Sooooo disappointed!!! "NO" Flavor with crunchy pasta ~ received a plate of drenched water from the boiled pasta ~ the 3 tablespoons of Chili had "NO" spice or flavor whatsoever ~ the food was SO cold it did not melt one strand of shreaded of cheese. I had tried to order a Hot Dog with bean chili and was told by rude Kentucky waiter that was NOT an option. I took 3 bites told the waiter I was done and he charged full price w/o questioning why I did not eat my food. I did leave a Tip because that`s the kind of person I am and the Sweet Tea was Awesome ~ "BUT" will "NOT" be back ~ I know another restaurant that offers 3-Way Chili and it`s Amazing ~ So if you are looking for a great dish go to "Rusty Bucket" restaurant. read more
