This was one of the best parts of our trip! We booked the 5-line tour in a super clear day. The vegetation made it an extra cool experience. It was a full Tarzan style zipline! Shane and Kyle where awesome super funny and made the trip extra fun for both the kids and adults. Top: BRING WARM CLOTHES! Skyline Hawaii Zipline Tours was great!! The location was daily hidden but they send you a text of what to look out for. We were welcomed by the friendly staff upon arrival. I could not remember the initial staff that greeted us but he definitely felt those who had fear in them forget about such fear by cracking jokes. The instructors Kamalei and Ha'a who set us up and guided us, were great!! As a first time zip-liner like myself they were very specific on what to expect and do on each course. They were friendly and very informative on the culture and facts of the wilderness of where we zip-lined. They were very friendly as well and kindly assisted those who had fear in get off the platform as we had some elderly folk in our group. Overall it was a great experience. This was a lovely quick zip line tour -- 5 lines, a fun suspended bridge, lively conversation and eco knowledge, along with some great recommendations for places to eat local and enjoy Maui. The drive up to the starting point was easy; check-in was pleasant and showed concern for our health and safety; the walk up to the first platform was comfortable and enlightening; and we got to see a chameleon! The zips were my favorite kind, where our guides managed the clipping and safety, and we just got to fly. The whole thing was short enough that we could fit it in between a nice lunch at Paia Fish Market and a nice dinner at Maui Fish Market ( ftw) with an activity level that left us feeling proud of ourselves but not exhausted. Thank you to our guides Alec and Kevin for your friendliness, expertise and enthusiasm with our family! We will do it again in the post-COVID era when we can all go without masks! My family and I were so excited for this activity. Unfortunately, my mom ended up fracturing her ankle due to stepping wrong coming off the ramp on the 6th line. For the first 5 lines, we all had so much fun. It was no fault of the company at all that the incident happened, and they responded quickly and appropriately to the situation. Ziplining with Skyline Hawaii was great fun. Although not overly challenging or heart-pounding, the views were gorgeous and the duration of the activity was just right. But the experience itself was trumped by our wonderfully zany, witty, and friendly guides, Jacob and Will. They kept up a running, irreverent patter that had our whole group bursting into laughter over and over, all while providing the perfect amount of Hawaiian history, safety tips, and instruction. This was the highlight of our vacation. The guides, Alec and Ray, were so fun and informative. They were great with our kids, ages 9 and 10, and even recommended a few local eateries for after our tour. I was very nervous ziplining for my first time, but our party of 8 went, and I had to be brave and try it. First things first, the facilities are Porta potties, but clean with a hand washing station. Our guides kaleo and Rey were quick to reassure us, and have is a little overview of the ecopreservation the company is doing. 5 cables and a suspension bridge, I had a blast and can't wait to go again. Disappointing, unfortunately the weather was terrible. I would expect that they would have known it would be bad so I would have appreciated having the option to rebook to another day. We also were picked up way too early. Had to wait over an hour. Guide did not know what time sunrise was expected. Amazing adventure! My friend and I hopped over from Oahu and had Kyle and Ikaika as our guides. They were fast and efficient and getting everyone suited up. The coolest part was they did the stopping at the end of the zipline- NO PRESSURE, JUST FUN! The views were great and the zips were smooth. They taught us about some of the birds and how they give back to the environment. Well worth it. I will look into the other locations on other islands. I hope they come to Oahu someday. read more

Wow! What a great zipline tour. Kyle and Brennan were so down to earth, knowedgable, and easy to get along with, in fact, they are super fun! My wife and I had a blast zipping across the gulch up here in Kula. The weather is nice and cool and the zips were fast and easy. There is also a little cafe next to the lodge that has great granola which we muched on while we walked between zips...yummy. overall a great experience that left smiles on our faces. We also learned that the owner of this company has planted 5,000 trees in the forest up here and although it will take 150 uears to refill the forest which was devasted in 1850, it's good to know we're headed on the right track. Also, there's great facts about the local wild life that you learn while on the tour. Overall a great experience and I recommend it to anyone looking to Zipline while here in Maui. read more

One of the guides actually told this joke before I jumped off the edge of the cliff! ---------------------------- Have you ever been so nervous that you get an immediate anticipation to pee or poo? I am not talking about the fear of public speaking, but the fear of heights. I guess everyone have their own list of fears. On my recent adventure to Hawaii, I didn't just want to surf and tan on the beautiful beaches and check out all the pretty bodies. Hell no! I wanted to zip-line -- an outdoor activity that involves jumping off an high altitude platform in an harness and going down in high speed via cable. Wheeeee! This Haleakala tour took up two hours and was about $80 per person. You suit up in a helmet and a harness at HQ. Then take a short hike with a group to FIVE different zip-line courses, each being more challenging or scarier. For the guys, it was kinda goofy to hold a 10 lb steel harness in front of your ding dong as you trek. Now I know what it is like to have balls of steel! The fun begins when you hear other people screaming when each takes turn, zipping through the lush rain forest. You also get to strike a pose while you are in the air as well. Imagine doing Superman with one arm out, gliding gracefully until... the wooden landing. You have to smack your two feet running or else you are gonna clothesline into the fence. Luckily, the tour guide is able to assist the athletically-challenged. In our group, we had a 80-year old couple, who both did it with flying colors. *THIS REVIEW PERTAINS TO THE KA'ANAPALI SKYLINE ADVENTURE* Outstanding. I laughed. I screamed. I wet my pants. (Well... my water bottle leaked on my pants, but no one believed me, so I'll go with the pants-wetting story.) Two enthusiastic thumbs up. I would do it again and again. Run, don't walk to Skyline Eco Adventures. No, this is not a paid endorsement - it's 100% gratis. Top 3 reasons Skyline Eco Adventures, specifically the Ka'anapali adventure, is a 5-star experience: #3. SCENERY: Simply gorgeous - lush valleys, beautiful view of the ocean and neighboring islands. As someone who is fearful of heights, I felt comfortable and safe enough to tackle each of the eight zip lines on this course because each line was more exhilarating than the next. Word to hard-core thrill seekers: This course might seem pretty tame to you, so you can liven up the experience by getting creative with take-offs, landings and creative maneuvering in between. For those new to zip lining, I think this course is perfect - it won't seem too terrifying or too tame. #1. B.J. AND KALE: Our guides were - irrefutably - the best. They had us laughing throughout the entire experience, even in the face of a "wild pig" encounter. Word to those who are new to zip lining: It's hard to be fearful when you're laughing so much. Even though B.J. and Kale are the most laid back, humorous guys you'll meet, they're diligent about following safety protocols to the letter. !! EXPECTATION CALIBRATION !! It's good to go into this experience with a couple of key insights. I'm offering them because I saw a couple people get pretty pissed off about the following: 1. TOUR CANCELLATION: We were supposed to go on a Wednesday. We drove all the way from Wailea to Ka'anapali and when we arrived, we found out the trip was cancelled due to high winds. Yes, it's disappointing, but weather can't be controlled and it often requires last-second cancellations. John was great about rescheduling us for the next available tour (on Friday) as quickly as possible. So be prepared for possible cancellations-- it might be a good idea to call Skyline right before you head to the departure site just to confirm that the tour is still on. 2. A. NO FOOD FOR YOU! On the tour following ours, they had to cancel the lunch portion of that tour - again, due to weather issues. (One woman seemed irate about this last-minute change.) Bring a couple Power bars/snacks just to be on the safe side. (They were able to provide breakfast on our 8:00 a.m. tour - juice, fruit, breads and a frittata. Good stuff.) B. WATER PROVIDED. They'll give you a water bottle (you'll get to keep it) that clips to your gear, and they provide water stations along the way. No need to bring your own. 3. PREPARE FOR RAIN. It rains frequently in the valleys of Mount Kahalawai - and can become quite chilly - so I recommend bringing a light jacket. The rain is often over as quickly as it starts - on our tour, it rained for about 5--10 minutes when we arrived at the first zip line. After that quick shower, though, the sun returned and conditions remained dry. 4. TRANSPORTATION GLITCHES. The van that was scheduled to shuttle us back to the Eco Skyline store broke down. So we had to hang out for about 30 minutes to wait for a replacement van. Their vans are old, but they have back-up vans and a mechanic on call - they handled the situation well. B.J. and Kale were also great about keeping us engaged in conversation to help pass the time. 5. CLOTHES. It's worth repeating the advice that Eco provides on its tickets - don't wear white, nice clothing. Wear clothes - and shoes - that you don't really care about. I made the mistake of wearing very white running shoes. They are no longer white. They are now my earthy, red running shoes. SPECIAL NOTE: 6. CONTRIBUTION TO THE TIP JAR. I hate it when people "should" all over me, so I apologize right now for making a "should" statement. I wouldn't do it if I didn't feel strongly about it. You should tip the guides 10-15% - it's the industry standard for zip line guides. Many people on our tour just threw a few dollars into the tip jar. Given the fact that the price of a ticket is $150, I'd recommend tipping no less than $15. The guides are awesome, they spend four hours with you, they're entertaining, and they're ensuring your safety. So I highly recommend - to the point of brandishing a motherly "should" - tipping no less than 10% of the price of each person's ticket. FINAL THOUGHT: Book your tickets now. Do it. You won't regret it. Eco Adventures is an excellent operation. Very safe, and their guides are rock stars. read more

Skyline is the ONLY zipline company I use or recommend- especially to folks who have never tried ziplining or are really nervous about it. I've used Skyline on the Big Island of Hawaii, on Kauai and now here on Maui, too, and they are consistently fun, professional and always put the customer's safety, enjoyment and comfort first! We did the five line tour with the suspension bridge which took about an hour and a half and was a very chill, laid back experience thanks to seasoned guides Kuaola and Joe! These guys had a couple of seriously scared women on their hands the day we went up but they managed to calm them, encourage them and have them loving the experience by the end of the tour! That's always how it goes at Skyline- you can't help but fall in love with ziplining after one of their tours! read more

We had so much fun on our first zipline experience with Skyline Eco Adventures! We did the Haleakala one which was great as we scheduled it at around 9:30am and managed to go to the summit, watch the sunrise, have breakfast at Kula Lodge and make it here in time for our zipline tour! It's slightly cool in the morning although not as cold as the summit, so a light jacket would be fine. Oh and long pants or capris for women are a must as you are in a harness, and it does not look good with shorts. Someone in our team missed that rule and she had super wedgie and camel toe. Not a good look. They do a great job of explaining what you're supposed to do and then they pretty much just throw you right into the thick of things. It's a very short hike to the first zipline, so no issues if you're not a hiker (like me). I am also slightly scared of heights, but I love speed, so I tried not to look down but got a good running start on each zipline so that I could go FAST. The last zipline is obviously the longest and the most fun. Next time in Maui we'll try the Kaanapali one. Oh, a good idea to bring a video camera/camera while you zipline so you can record your ride. Make sure you strap it tightly to your wrist though! cos if you drop it, no one is going down to look for it! read more

Just like Jamie B...i'm an acrophobe...I already don't like flying, and going up to the top of the Sears Tower when I was in Chi-town was probably one of the scarier things I've done in my life, yet, I still crave adventure and enjoy taking some risks...and cuz everyone else was doing it, I decided to take the plunge...or rather, the line. My friends had already gone zip-lining w/ Skyline the last time I was in Maui...but I wussed out, so I vowed now to do so this time around. It was an awesome activity. Our guides were awesome...their names slip my mind, but nonetheless, they were great. We laughed a lot and our whole group had a ton of fun. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, esp with the height thing because you're looking ahead of you almost the whole time and not even looking down. I could've been 10 feet or 1000 ft(okay, that might be a stretch) off the ground and I wouldn't have noticed the difference. 8 lines...definitely too short, but it was well worth it. Just a few tips - book early...they fill up QUICK! We booked about a month ahead of time and they already had limited spots. Another tip...make sure you're wearing shoes; they will not allow you to wear open toed shoes of any type. They have some loaners, but I've never been really comfortable in another man's moccasins =p Lastly, it can get pretty warm, and the AC vents aren't so great on the ride up, so if you get motion-sick, ask to sit in the front :) Otherwise, bring your cameras(waterproof if possible in case it's raining) and zip it up!!!!!! Still afraid of heights, but not afraid to zipline! read more

BEST TIME EVERRRRRRRRR We went on 8/29/10 at the 8 a.m. Ka'anapali 8 Zip Line tour! I seriously wish they had like a 20 zip line tour, because I would be there in a second! Our guides were sooooo fantastic, I totally am spacing on their names, I know they referred to one as "brown sugar" and the other one was a tall thin Maui native. They were hysterical and helpful the whole way. We had a nice drizzle in the morning so it was nice and cool, did 4 zips and stopped for a tasty breakfast with an amazing view, then did 4 more zips. The hubs and I were the last to go on the 8th zip, when the wind realllly got nuts. The guide gave us some very firm instructions and off we went! Got some sweet video and amazing pictures! Be sure to wear longish shorts, like just above the knee otherwise those short shorts will not be so fun after about hour 1. Wear dark colored tennis shoes and socks that you can pull up. Hubs wore super long socks and he was good to go, I wore ankle socks and the backs of my legs were stained orange/red and took a very long bath and scrubbing to get clean ;) We had such a great time. I can't wait to zip again! P.S. I am a total weeny chicken and clearly had a blast. Just do it! read more

Make sure "Fabio" and "Pretty boy" are your guides, some of the driest and most organically executed humor I've had the pleasure of experiencing in a while. These boys took what was already an uncomfortable and nerve racking situation and added to the anxiety by making countless jokes about their lack of experience, probation, wrongful deaths and other inappropriately awesome one-liners to truly add to an amazing experience in the woods.
