Absolutely fantastic brewery, and the pizzas are unique and delicious! They also have a fun atmosphere and frequently have live performances from local artists. (6/24/2023) came for a late dinner on a Saturday night. It seemed bustling. We were surprised at the strip mall location. Service was very friendly and accommodating and on the spot. The seasonal "Jala-berry" (jalapeño and strawberry) Wings were piping hot, crispy and well-dressed with a sweet and savory and slightly warming spiced sauce. Great vibes at slackwater! There were sooo many beer options on the menu. I got the buffalo wings (which were great) and the tastes like burning pizza. The pizza's here are personal sized, and I couldn't finish the entire thing. The tastes like burning wasn't my favorite, but I liked the cardiac arrest (meat lovers) pizza that my friend got more. Tastes like burning was spicier than I expected, and didn't have too much flavor (there wasn't a lot of variety of flavor, it was just spicy). If I come again I would get a different kind of pizza. Phenomenal pizza! The crust can make or break a pizza, and at Slackwater, their crust sends their pizza outta this world! I actually was given the wrong pizza accidentally. I was given the Hulk when I ordered the This Is Sparta. The Hulk was absolutely delicious! It had green goddess dressing, grape tomatoes, jalapeños, feta, fresh cilantro and fresh avocado. It was so delicious, I didn't even notice there wasn't any meat on it, it was that good! The Sparta pizza was a salt lover's dream: herbed sausage, kalamata olives, grape tomatoes, artichoke hearts, garlic and feta. It was good but it sure was salty (and that's coming from a salt lover!). I definitely preferred the accident pizza. haha. Our server was also the sweetest. The food at Slackwater was pretty good. You get a lot of food for what you pay for, and the quality is pretty well matched for the price you pay. It isn't the most refined food, but it's good food for somewhere easy-going to chill with friends and /or family. The you'll be stuffed stickers were cheesy and delicious with the marinara sauce. The nachos were good...I wouldn't say mind-blowingly amazing, but they were a good plate of nachos with lots of toppings on it. The gyro pizza was pretty good as well. The servers were very nice. My only note about Slackwater is that the servers' outfits are uncommonly revealing, especially for how young some of the girls were. (One step away from a wardrobe malfunction and nip slip). No big deal, but if you have young children with you or if that would make you uncomfortable, I would either order to-go or go elsewhere. read more

We had the Diablo Sticks for an app. The spice was intense with those fresh jalapeño slices but we are from New Mexico so we dig the heat! My hubby had the "Inventory Wings" from the specials menu and OH EM GEE! So flavorful! A definite must! I had the Mulagatawny (sp?) Soup. And wowza! So flavorful and comforting! I could eat it by the gallon in any season! Bry (again, sp?) was our server and she was wonderful and attentive. Beer selection is pretty wide and the place is wonderfully designed and welcoming. Fantastic place to hang out with friends for beer and pizza. Their pizzas pack a lot of flavor and there is something for everyone, whether you want to keep it simple with a margherita or be more adventurous with the gyro trip. Our favorite is the southern comfort, which is reminiscent of a bbq chicken pizza, but with juicy pulled pork instead and balanced with tart slaw. Prices are reasonable as well and you can easily reserve part of your pizza to take home, especially if you indulge on some appetizers. One thing to note is that it gets pretty loud and rowdy inside, so it's not ideal for families with small children, or you can opt to sit on the outside patio. For larger groups, plan ahead as they do not take reservations, but you can call in advance on the day of visit and they do try to accommodate your party size. read more

Absolutely fantastic food and great service. You seriously can't go wrong with the menu here. There are a million craft beers from nitro ale (yeah, that's a thing) to stout beers to try, which you should do. Today, if possible. Here's more: The wait time for us on Saturday for lunch was 5 minutes. Maybe we had lucky timing, but it rocked and there's no complaints from us. This is a very hipster place - nearly everyone I saw had some kind of ink, which is my crowd, and maybe yours too. The noise level was really high so FYI if you want to bring anyone with (or you have) sensory sensitivities (my son is this way. We bring a headset for sound dampening in these cases) so just be aware if this is a concern. There are two places for outdoor seating: the side facing the street and parking lot, and around the other side, near the dry creek which is a woody area. This side feels really different and gives a quieter, more natural setting. Both places are really nice if the weather is being nice. We started with the massive plate of char-tipped roasted pork chili verde nachos, which was amazing. Very flavorful and balanced with a different taste experience in every bite, with no spice/heat (FYI). The chips were crisp and didn't get soft right away, but this dish is so full of ingredients that eventually they benefit from a fork. The amount was utterly huge and easily a meal in itself. This is plenty for a good 4+ people depending on the individual aggression of the partakers. It is totally delicious. My picky son ordered the Picky Pie, which is an anyway-you-want pizza (i.e. ordinary cheese pizza) which went over well and was enjoyed, so while there isn't a kids menu, you have a good option for the unadventurous kids. I got the Tikka Masala pizza and it was smashing. It was comforting and pleasantly warm with all the wonderful spices you hope to experience - cinnamon, cloves, cumin, all the great stuff. It was amazing as a pizza which was a great surprise for me! Plus, the chicken was also spiced and marinated and added a lot to the pizza, not just on there for expectations. I would have loved more chicken on it but it didn't undermine the wonderful pizza. My husband had the meatball sandwich, which he enjoyed. The meatballs are well-seasoned and not overcooked, with a creamy feel. The bread was fresh and not hard at all, like other jaw-breaking sandwiches can be. The ale we tried was the Mother Earth nitro Vanilla Cream which was smooth and mild with subtle flavor. I recommend this one if you are new to beer and ale and would like a pleasant introduction and a lightly sweet profile to add to your new adventures. If you're not a beer/ale person at all but need to take it to save face at the table for some reason, you can get away with this one. We spent about $68 before tip. Go here and enjoy with your hipster buddies. You'll have a good time. read more

This is a perfect example of what could have been a poor review yet turned into a great review by a great staff. I don't recall the names of staff, but both bartenders on Saturday night, July 17. Winners. Our entire order failed to make it in the system. but we had our beer, plates and utensils delivered. No one realized the error until we didnt get food for a very long time, after all the more recent patrons got there's. The two bar tenders immediately apologized, got our order in, poured us our next beer and got manager involved. They took charge to ensure we were happy and both were great company until we left. Excellent food and an ever evolving monthly menu that keeps things fresh. Their beer selection is the best in Utah. They're welcoming and chill here and nearly 100% of my interactions with the staff have been supreme. The managers are always on deck circulating and meeting guests and offering friendly greetings to regulars. For a place whose focus is a lot about beer, their food is excellent. So good, in fact, that I always forget to take pictures. I'm here often and I appreciate so much how welcoming and full of light this place has been during the past two years. I've met both managers now and they both set the BEST tone for the restaurant. If there's one thing Gordon Ramsay has shown us, it's that a bad manager kills a restaurant. Well, the opposite seems true as well: both Joey's at Slackwater kill it. They're hands on, present, and attentive. Oh, and when there's no live music, the store playlists rock so well--it's like they read my mind about what kind of tunes to play. ;) I have some favorites among the staff but have yet to experienced a server who didn't work hard to make the time spent here magical and comforting. We've been here a few times and it's always been a solid go-to. Today we ordered the bloody sake (knock off Bloody Mary made with sake) which was a 6/10. We also ordered the passion fruit mimosa.. which was very much on the sweet side, 4/10. The green goddess pizza is a 9/10 in my book and quite possibly the best pizza in the south part of the valley. Overall slack water is a gem here in Herriman and easily beats out any "bar and grill" competition around. A nice treat is to stop by for brunch. Definitely hit or miss depending on what you get! We loved the ambiance and our server was so sweet. There doesn't seem to be a high expectation for staff but they do their job and they are attentive and just seem like cool individuals. Tiki masala pizza was what I came for and it just didn't meet my expectations. I expected it to be much saucier with more chicken. But I was able to get the gluten free at this location which tasted amazing in itself. My husband got the buffalo pizza and it was so bomb. I don't even like buffalo and I was feeling it more then my pizza! We also got the spin art dip and it was just okay. I wish there was more spinach and artichoke but my husband loved it!!! We've visited a few times now. Have been with different groups and just the two of us. Good and not so good each time! The Garlic Breath appetizer is a sure winner if you love garlic! We get that every time! The Cobb salad has been a hit each time I've gotten it and my love and I share that with enough and to spare - that's how large it is! The pizza...um, well, it's hit and miss. We realize we're a little more finicky than most and probably a bit too particular in what we consider "excellent." Tonight with friends who'd not been here before, they were "meh" with the pizza. One came out entirely burnt all around the crust. I mean charred! The person sitting behind one of our friends, her pizza also came out worse looking than our friends did. She wouldn't even let the waiter set it down! He took hers away, brought it back and told her to "snack on it" until they made her a fresh one. The people behind us pizza was also very burned. Our sweet friends partner wouldn't eat it but also wouldn't send it back. He didn't want to make a fuss. So we called for the waiter, who called for the manager (Tony) who was unbelievably accommodating and not only took it off their bill but made a fresh one "on the house" for him. He took it to go! (We peeked at it and it looked superb!) Now THAT is wonderful 5 Star service! Our Sparta pizza we ordered double extra mushrooms and onions with extra Alfredo sauce as the base. NOT ONE MUSHROOM ON OUR PIZZA!!! Not one! But they hit the pedal in the feta cheese distributor as you almost couldn't decipher what was underneath the feta - it was that heavy!! Last time - it was perfect. This time. A disaster. Dry. The pizza wasn't burnt but the veggies on it were. We did get a few extra onions but we're discovering these guys don't understand the meaning of "DOUBLE EXTRA!' We didn't send it back and we didn't mention it. Our waiter "Denis" (that's how he spells it) we've had the pleasure of having twice in a week (!) has been exceptional both times! We liked him more than we liked our food! Truly a wonderful waiter and just a super friendly guy! Ask for him! He's the best! All in all...I give the appetizer a 5 star, the Cobb a 5 star, but the pizza which is the MAIN EVENT, was a huge disappointment - hence the 3 star rating! We love slackwater! The nachos are amazing and definitely worth ordering. The pork on it was really good (not fatty) The cheese bread sticks (basically a calzone stuffed with cheese then cut into sticks) is SO good!! We love spicy stuff but the Diablo sticks were not our favorite. The spicy marinara is more Smokey and doesn't have that sweet element that you associate with a marinara so for us we will stick with traditional marinara next time. And note to self, pizzas are way better as a calzone! The calzone crust is soft and breadstick like. Pizza crust was not as good in our opinion! read more
