First time here. Got the sandwich with three meats but without the roll. Got cornbread instead and the daily side of fried cabbage with bacon and onions. Everything was phenomenal! Cornbread gave off steam when I broke into it and plenty moist. The fried cabbage is better than any collard green side I've ever had. And all three meats were great. Just wish I had know they would chop them together and I would have asked them not to, just so I could taste each separately to see which I liked best. Yo, this place is Da Bomb! We stopped in Corning to see the museum and this place is definitely a must! The place is moderately priced, the food is fantastic and the staff is great! I felt as I was having a family dinner (with a nice family!). The owners told me their story: Their daughter moved to NY. They were from Texas (if I remember correctly) and used to come often to visit. But they found that the place was missing a good BBQ joint. So, eventually they moved there and opened one. I signed up for an account on Yelp, just so I could write this review. Why? You ask...AWESOME FOOD! Ribs are outstanding with plenty of meat on them. The meat does not fall off the bone, but has a perfect smoke flavor and plenty of great sauce. The chicken was juicy and tender, again with incredible smoke flavor. Brisket was incredible, in both sliced and chopped. I prefer the chopped. They worked with me on getting what I wanted on a 1/4 sampler platter and if loved it all. Awesome people and owner. They really know how to make a customer happy. I am from NC and know BBQ, and I wish that I could have this restaurant in my town. I would seriously gain some weight. Casual little BBQ joint in Corning, where the food is definitely made with love. Everything tasted so good, the brisket was fantastic, the chicken and pork too. IT was lunch for three and we get to taste all different kind of dishes during the PHISH festival and we loved this place. We went to the new location on Market St. Everyone in our group liked the food. I personally tried a sampler that had pulled pork, brisket, sausage, etc. with two sides and cornbread. All of the food was good. My only complaint was that the whole restaurant got smokey from all of the smoke from smoking the meats! Overall, we would come back if we are in the area. read more

Slammin' opened a second location on market street in Corning, food is just as good and they have a bar with local beers. Chicken is always moist and the ribs are the BF's go to favorite! Good service, good BBQ. I'm picky about coleslaw and theirs was excellent, creamy and flavorful. I also had their baked beans and sliced brisket and both were very good. Fried pickles were peppery. They serve local beer in bottles which I recommend the Sweet Potato Stout from Iron Flamingo. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Honestly what a great little gem! The little city this place is in what a cute little town. I am passing through on business and the owner actually walked around to all of the tables including me at the bar and asked how things were. The waitresses are as friendly and kind as it gets. Here is where I wish I could goose up the rating by 1/2 star due to the pleasantness of the people at Slammin' Jammin'. Stopped in with my son Jonathan right before heading over to the Corning Museum of glass. We were both hungry but not overly so we each opted for a lunch special: he had a brisket sandwich with burnt ends and a side of corn . . . I had the ribs with a side of baked beans, fries and corn bread. Jonathan said the sandwich was OK and the burnt end he shared with me confirmed the OK rating. He noted the corn was "straight out of a can" - I took his word on that. My ribs were decent but definitively not properly smoked - shortcuts were definitively taken - the beans were fantastic however but the cornbread muffin is was terrible. It was a decent tasty meal - while not the best BBQ I've ever had it was still good. If you are in the mood for BBQ you should give them a try . . . Just avoid the cornbread. read more

i was driving through the area and anytime i drive through somewhere i search out BBQ and i'm glad i found this place. it seemed clean and i liked the decor and the women working there seemed nice. my only real complaint was that the food was a little pricey. onto the food. i got the half rack of ribs and some brisket. i forgot to ask for the brisket sliced instead of chopped, but it didn't make a difference because this was the best chopped brisket i've had. it seemed fresh and was very moist and the smoke flavor wasn't overwhelming or underwhelming. the ribs on the other hand could have used a little more smoke. the ribs were actually kind of small too. they were babybacks with pretty short bones but the bones had an ok amount of meat on em. as for the sauce, it seemed pretty generic to me, not sure if it was made in house or not but they don't put a ton of it on the meat to drown out the flavor. the corn muffin was decent, it actually came out warm where as most places serve em at room temp. the potato salad was decent but it was a pretty small portion. the fries, again were kind of a small portion, but they were pretty good. they claim they are fresh cut and typically i don't like fresh cut, so i'm questioning whether or not these were actually fresh cut haha. when it comes down to it though this is a solid place that i would definitely visit again. if i lived in corning i'd probably eat here once every one or two weeks, definitely check it out! read more

I ate here with a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago, and we really enjoyed my meal. I got the beef BBQ, french fries, and corn bread. It was all fabulous! I thought the Texas BBQ sauce was wonderful. I really want to go back for the BBQ chicken though, and I can't wait to see how good that is. I'm from Virginia, so I miss having good BBQ restaurants on every fourth corner of town. We stopped in after traveling 5 hours from Ct and we were not disappointed. We started with the brisket sandwich and it was great. Tender, melt in your mouth with a nice sauce. The bun was even good. I ordered two more to go for the road and Ben the owner told me his ribs were the best seller. I thought, if the brisket was that good and not the best seller the ribs must be out of this world. I ordered a rack to go and Ben explained I needed to try them before I left, while they were hot. He was right. They were so meaty and the glaze was perfect. Ben explained he sometimes runs out of ribs. He doesn't sell ribs he smoked the day before because they are not as fresh. My advice is the get there early so you don't miss them. We had great BBQ and met a really nice owner. Good luck with your business. You'll go a long way with Texas cooking like this. read more

Food was good but service was lacking. Wait staff was standing at the bar with only 7 tables occupied. Food was 4 of 5 stars. Service was 2 of 5 and facility was 1 of 5. The restaurant on Market St. was too smokey. You will smell like smoke the rest of the evening. I would recommend getting it to go. Also, at 87 degrees outside, turn the air conditioning on, opening the front door and turning the fan on will not keep people in a hot restaurant. For some reason this place was highly recommended. I guess I got bad luck because it was probably one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The service was meh--our table wasn't checked up on after food was served, and our table was left wondering if a check would ever come. My plate came with one side, even though the menu said that the plates come with two. I asked about the status of the Texas Toast twice, but it ended up being forgotten. The food was even worse than the service. I had the chicken tenders, which were overly salty and drier than Death Valley. The BBQ sauce didn't really help, as it tasted like spicy nothing. I'm honestly shocked this place is so highly rated on Yelp; I guess I'm an outlier. read more

If you're going to come here, make sure it's not while there is an event going on in town. My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner during Corning's Sparkle celebration. We were seated almost immediately at the same time as a family of four. The restaurant was 3/4 full at the time with most tables having already been fed. We were informed that they had sold out of a couple items so we both settled for BBQ pork sandwiches. About an hour and a half later these sandwiches arrived as the family of four (that we were seated at the same time as) were leaving after finishing their entire meal. The sandwiches were good, not great, and certainly not worth the wait and not worth the $50 we spent for 2 rounds of drinks and the food. Barely saw the waitress and did not receive an apology or an explanation as to why we were waiting an hour and a half! We missed the rest of the Sparkle celebration as we heard fireworks signaling the end. If we find ourselves back in Corning, we will not return to this place. Keep this in mind if you're in town for some type of event. One star, only because I can't give half a star. read more
