On 12/13/25 I ordered a large spinach and sausage pizza to go around 6:30 pm. Took about 30 minutes to get. When I got it home I discovered that the spinach which was raw was just thrown on top of the pizza. It was like whomever made it forgot to put the spinach on it before they cooked it. Then right before they gave it to me realized that they forgot and just threw it on top. I was kinda blown away at this because I paid $32.00 for it before tip. Which I thought was kinda expensive for 1 large pizza. I ended up just sweeping off the raw spinach and eating the pizza because by then it was 8 pm and did not want to drive the 20 minutes back to the location. I always heard Slaters was good thus me going there. But sadly I will not go back after this experience. read more

the first time I went to get take out at slater's and I saw them reheating the BBQ food from their fridge in a microwave oven and when I got home it tasted old and we were disappointed. the second time we ate in and the food was good but wicked skimpy portions and I left still kind of hungry and disappointed. the third time we got a pizza to go and again we were disappointed. so three strikes and they're out. read more

Always the best BBQ wings in the state! This place has a wonderful neighborhood feel and the owners are often in the dining checking on their customers. I love that it does not have a bar feel with TV's blasting sports across many monitors. Most of the wait staff is pleasant and attentive and I like that they share waiting on guests. We tried the pepperoni pizza which was just okay because the quality of meat could have been better and so could the crust/sauce and cheese. They plate things nicely. I recommend going there for BBQ or for Open Mike Nite Thursdays which is always fun. read more

A group of us from Old North Bridge Hounds stopped today, hoping for a warm spot out of the cold wind--only to find Slater's was closed due to power outage (we'd seen the line repair trucks). As we dispersed back to our vehicles to leave, someone hustled out to say the power was back on and they'd be delighted to serve us! We had a great meal--much sharing of goodies--and despite the power going on and off several more times (hey, call it low-light ambiance!), the wood-fired oven did its job. Major kudos to all the staff for coping with a really challenging situation while still turning out great food and service! read more

I have gone here a few times and ordered various items from this place but no more. They are very overpriced for a pizza, but the service and follow through is terrible. I ordered a pulled chicken sandwich and when I got home, it was not properly wrapped in foil. It was open. I called and complained and the girl on the phone sounded confused and didn't know what to do. When I asked for a refund, she spoke to an other person and then I was told to call back. I did and the "manager" did not know why to do and did not have the authority to process a refund. So, I asked when the owner would be in - Tuesday. I called Tuesday and, lo and behold, no one knew what to do. Total incompetence and it's mainly run by teenagers. Pack of losers the whole bunch of them - I won't be going back. read more

The food was delicious and fresh. We couldn't decide between BBQ or a pizza so we did the pulled pork pizza. No regrets! The service wasn't bad but it wasn't outstanding either. Stopped by here for lunch on a Sunday on our way through own. There was quite a crowd inside already, which is always a good sign. The food was excellent. I had a pulled pork pizza that was so very good, and my wife and son loved their dishes as well. The prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere inside is pretty cool as well. You better hope that you are one of their favorites if you expect any sort of acknowledgement from staff. My boyfriend and I stopped here because the menu looked yummy. The entire visit took over 2 hours for one appetizer and a small pizza. After ordering 2 waters, our waiter abandoned us. It was extremely bizarre as everyone working there just pretended like we didn't existed/ We watched 10 tables get turned over (we literally counted) before we waived down a separate waiter. The waiter who saved us had only been working there for a few days, and was just as confused as we were. All of the 1 star reviews about the terrible service remain true. Went last Friday on a recommendation. Was looking for thin Cust and crisp pizza. I was not disappointed about the crust and the crisp. Great looking good standard plain cheese. Excellent. However very light on the sauce and cheese. Some slices were barely covered with cheese. A bit dry. Fix your topping issues with a good balance of ingredients and you may have the best pie in the region. Rating: 7.5 out of ten - respectable score. so I have been driving past this place for years, and I finally stooped on a chilly day to get some ribs. changed my mind and got a pizza instead, but I think I should have stayed with my first thought,. the pizza was burnt, and I get it that they have a wood fire oven but the top of the pizza was just to burnt. the mac & cheese and pulled pork was good, so I will give them that. the food was MID, don't think I would make the drive back out there. read more

I'm from NY and I thought this pizza was SO good. The waitstaff was also friendly and welcoming! We sat on the patio with our dog and they were so sweet and brought out water for her. I live close fairly close and always wanted to try this place. I stopped in on Saturday around 5:50 pm. I expected it would be busy, but was shocked that we stood there waiting for service for over 10 minutes and didn't even get an acknowledgment that we were there. I've been to busy restaurants, but never seen anything like this! There was no hostess and barely any waitstaff. There were empty tables, but they made no effort to seat us or anyone else. It appeared that the bartender was doing all table service inside. There are tables outside that seemed to have waitstaff but we barely saw them. When I tried to inquire about seating with a man at the bar (manager?) I only got blown off. I made the smart decision to leave before I was too far into this mess. I may try to return on a "quiet" night. I wish I could review the food! read more

This is very disappointing to write, as the pizza here is very good. I understand that keeping a adequate staffed restaurant is increasingly difficult nowadays, and being that I have give Slaters multiple tries to recover but after the last attempted visit, I will no longer even think about going there or advise it to friends and family. Going there the staff doesn't even recognize that you showed up, they will allow lines to just grow, with 0 acknowledgement. Advice, there is no excuse for this, if you cant service people, tell that to them. Having staff go out of their way to ignore guests is a quick way to lose customers. Honestly if that had occurred, a simple acknowledgement that the wait was going to be for hours, I would be ok. Blatant ignoring just forced me to do the same for this place. read more

The good: The food is really good. The outside seating is pretty. We went last night and sat outside. Beautiful night; the outdoor seating is nicely landscaped. There is a sign that asks customers not to stay more than 90 minutes - totally understandable. We ended up staying two hours because it took 90 minutes to get our food (two pizzas and a pulled pork sandwich - nothing special). It took 30 minutes to get our drinks. We asked for water three times - third was the charm, sort of. One glass of water and one glass of a pink/ish substance. It tasted like someone started to pour lemonade, realized it should be water and just filled the rest of the glass with water without dumping out the lemonade. We couldn't find a waitress to get another glass of water before we finished eating. This next comment is neutral - it's all about perspective. The place is teeming with small children. This is a good thing for families with small children - lots of space for kids to run around and scream and play. It's less of a good thing for adults who want to enjoy a meal without kids running around and yelling. read more

Pizza is consistently really good. My biggest issue is calling ahead. I've called in 1.5 hours, even 3 hours before. I get there and it's never ready and needs another 15-20 minutes. Small problem really, but that's my only complaint over the years. All in all, the food is very good. read more

August 6, 2021 Went into Slater's today - lunch for me and my brother - and it was great. The pizzas were amazing (Sausage and peppers for my brother, Mushroom & bacon for me). Coming out of the oven, they were steaming hot and smelled so good that it was hard to sit and let them cool for a moment. Our waitress, Sandy, was incredibly nice and very, very welcoming. The food is everything you could hope for - fresh, hot, fast, and priced right. I'm really glad that Slater's stayed open and survived COVID, because it's exactly the kind of place that we need. PS - don't order anything more if you're going to tackle a pizza by yourself. It's way more food than anyone can handle (and that's a great thing). PPS - the tables are spaced apart enough that you don't feel crowded or at all unsafe. They're obviously careful about that and it's a great thing. read more

Last night was my second recent visit to Slaters to see the band, Beat Street. I'm an old guy with a hearing aid and a limp, and I thought I'd been given a first-class ticket to hell. The place so jammed with people I was reminded of a Japanese subway car at rush hour. With no hope of ever sitting down, I was tempted to knock the drummer off his stool. I didn't eat though everyone around me devoured their food as if it were their last meal. I ordered three drinks (I buy for others on rare occasions), and that's why I'm up early writing this. The two waitresses/bartenders I dealt with are the most amazing women. I yelled my order, and they were instantly responsive. Juggling trays of food, they plow through gabbing, dancing, oblivious customers like snowplows in the alps. They made me love my job as a carpenter stuck on a roof in a rainstorm, but happy with the thought I don't have to deal with mayhem. I don't know their names; Sandy might be one, but rarely have I seen more competent and brave servers. read more

So given Slaters focus on BBQ I decided to get a cheese pizza with brisket as a topping. First impression was those cubed chunks of brisket are pretty large for a pizza. So large it became a fork and knife exercise due to the flop of the crust. Didn't get to far with the eating before the realization that a lot of these large cubes are not brisket but just fat. Doesn't get much nastier than that folks, big chunks of inedible, gelatinous fat. This is pretty basic stuff and a $20 lesson for me. read more
