Well guys I'm back at my #1 brunch spot whenever I'm in town. Slay is such an amazing spot to chill and enjoy an excellent variety menu all superbly cooked to perfection. Their chef is really good, one of the best. Same quality same taste every time I've been there. I had the chicken breast on brioche and fries that taste like McDonald's did when I was a kid, my son had Avocado toast with smoked salmon (look at that plate), and his wife had the American breakfast and she crushed her's as well. The manager Tony is so friendly, knowledgeable, and excellent host, very people oriented, thanks Tony it's always a pleasure to see you when I'm in town. I'm always looking for someplace new to have brunch. This restaurant is usually open at night, but open for brunch on the weekends. They have a small outdoor patio dining area. This is where I chose to dine because when I went inside to be seated, the place looked really small and crowded. I could barely even open the door to step in. I liked the table I was seated at outdoors, but the strangest occurrence was when the cook or one of the cooks walked in late to work, past my table. I'm glad I wasn't seated at the first table. Food: There was not a single dish that we had at Slay Hermosa that wasn't great. Appetizers were the Fried Calamari and Watermelon Salad and wow to the salad. The Watermelon salad had an incredible white vinaigrette and tajin spice. Get this salad! The Double Smash burger was a solid burger. The entree star was the Pork Chop that was cooked perfectly and the bed of sweet corn risotto made it wonderful. For the finish was the Butter Cake that was warm and dense like I love it. Mixed with the ice cream with berry drizzle and my Cafe au Lait it was a perfect ender to the meal. Service: Fantastic top notch service that covered us for our visit. We were always asked at the right time if we needed anything. Also we got the best suggestions from our waiter. We celebrated a birthday with brunch at Slay Hermosa today. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we felt welcomed and were treated like valued guests. We were seated upstairs on their covered rooftop. Our group ordered several appetizers to share and individual dishes. My husband enjoyed his lobster Benedict, which had a generous amount of lobster. I wish I had ordered that after seeing it. Their pancake that we ordered was huge and delicious. I ordered the vegan kale and mushroom ravioli. It was good, but I'd try something else the next time. Our server was attentive and was quick to exchange plates and utensils as we needed them. Metered street parking was easy to find on a Sunday morning and a walk on the beach was just minutes away. Four of us went in for Sunday Brunch and ordered from the breakfast/lunch menu. We often walk here for brunch and dinner from our house and I'm forever thankful that they're so close to us! Parking is non- existent if you have a car as most of the parking on the streets are either permitted residential parking only or metered. However, if you are lucky to win a spot - you're in for a treat! Service is prompt and friendly. We like to sit upstairs if it's just my husband and our daughter but if we have family then we like to sit downstairs and as it's more intimate and my parents are usually always cold outside. When I go with my girlfriends we like to sit outside. For dinner we usually get the Caesar salad or the chopped salad. I prefer the chopped salad. Occasionally, we'd get the calamari. Amazing experience tonight on the uppermost level of seating. Beautifully set up with several slivers of an ocean view. Tatum went above and beyond answering all of our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. Ordered the absolutely delicious Grilled Peaches and Burrata...with pistachios, a hint of mint and a delectable honey drizzle. This dish was so good and exemplified summer on so many levels!! We chose Slay Hermosa for our Galentine's Brunch and it was absolutely amazing. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can sip unlimited mimosas for $25 (with a two-hour limit), and you get the whole bottle at the table. We chose orange and guava juice to mix with. We started with the thick-cut bacon appetizer, and it was delicious. The thick cut, fatty bacon paired with sweet strawberry jam and fried shishito peppers was a unique combination. For my entree, I went with the brisket grilled cheese, loaded with havarti, yellow cheddar, and that same delicious strawberry jam. While the brisket could have used a bit more seasoning, there was a great amount of cheese, and the flavors still worked well together. The fries were crispy, golden perfection with just the right amount of salt. The service was excellent. The staff was beyond accommodating, giving us an extra table just for our Galentine's gifts, taking photos for us, and making sure we had everything we needed the entire time. We have eaten at Slay Manhattan Beach several times but never at Hermosa before last night. This is such a charming, welcoming, warm vibe of a restaurant. Service is outstanding and I was very excited to learn that the same group also owns Bottle Inn and Martha's-two of my favorite Hermosa restaurants!!! Let's start with cocktails, because of, course we did! We enjoyed the Red Sangria, full of fresh fruit and robust taste. My friend had the sangria and it was all I could do to keep my hands out of all of the fruit at the bottom! We also had the Sparkling Raspberry Martini. This was the most refreshing martini that I've enjoyed in a long time. It's made with kir red, prosecco, fresh raspberries and a sugar rim-easily the star of the cocktail menu! Our beer choice was Modelo and was thoroughly enjoyed. Food-there was a lot of it because we can never order enough, and we're glad we did! We had to try the Bacon Wrapped Scallops-with capecod wildflower honey and mustard-over the top-perfectly cooked and delicious! Next we had the Lamb Meatballs-herb jus, spinach, and oregano feta cheese. We also had the Parker House Rolls with soft herb butter, and the Ahi Tuna Stack. The tuna was so fresh and served with cucumber, avocado, and a spicy Jalepeno soy sauce. For salads we enjoyed the Caesar-romaine, crushed croutons, and parmesan and the Wedge-housemade ranch, pepper bacon, red onion, tomato, and blue cheese crumbles. For dinner we loved the Sauteed Filet of Sole-panko-crusted, meuniere Drizzle, grilled lemon, and parmesan risotto substituted for the green beans and shallots-because Slay is nice that way! We also loved the Boneless Half Jidori Chicken-with cacio e pepe marble potatoes and leeks. Our only regrets are that-we ate so much that we couldn't eat dessert, and that we didn't buy a Slay Hermosa sweatshirt-because I want to proudly display this eatery! Yes, this place does SLAY! Went on Wed evening. I was concerned as the dining room was empty, but it was raining and we did see a HUGE amount of take out orders. It did get a few more customers in the dining room before we left. We started with Burrata and strawberries, that was a delicious. Then ordered Sea Bass, Rigatoni and Chicken. There was 4 of us. The food was amazing, so good and flavorful. I would not order the chicken again only because there is such more more interesting items on the menu. Finished with butter cake, which melted in our mouths. YUM! Our server was great, very attentive and chef's kiss to the kitchen staff! Will def be back! read more

We've been in Hermosa for almost 10 years and have been to all the local spots on pier so we thought we'd give something new a try (tiki Kai isn't open yet, that was our first choice). The food at Slay was good. Nothing incredible but it tasted good and looked nice. We got the Parker rolls, tuna plate and baked burrata. Three starters and already at $70. My wife got the grilled cheese and I got the burger which both were good but not worth another $60. Service was not great despite there being three small tables inside and two servers. We waited a while to order drinks and between starters and mains. Waitress was nice enough but she could have been more on her game. Overall, it was pretty good. We probably will not be back based on the value. $150 for a few staters, grilled cheese and a burger. Maybe this is what inflation feels like. read more

If you're in Hermosa Beach this this is a great place to grab a meal. This is a fun little café style restaurant. They have interior dining, as well as outdoor dining. My recommendation is to grab the outdoor dining whenever the weather permits, because it really allows you to take in the overall environment of Hermosa. In terms of their food, it's very well prepared and has a very nice presentation. The ingredients are great, so you're sure to be eating an enjoyable and tasty meal. This restaurant has a nice selection of the various drinks, including: wine, beer, soft drinks, and of course, coffees. The last time I was there, however, their espresso machine wasn't working, so though we ordered two lattes, they brought us out two coffees instead. No big deal, things like this happened in a restaurant. But, just keep this in mind. My favorite time to come to this restaurant is on a Sunday morning. Whereas most of the restaurants around Hermosa and Manhattan Beach are packed full with customers, many of them having a long waiting line, this is not the case with Slay Hermosa. You can come in here and enjoy a nice breakfast/brunch, with little competition for seating. Overall, great place to grab a meal. read more

Slay is a great name for this place. It has such a vibrant energy. It's not a very big place but they utilize their space well and the decor evokes a fun but classy ambience. In terms of seating, you have the option of a small enclosed sidewalk/patio vs classic indoor vs rooftop. We did indoor seating for dinner as there was a chance of rain. Will have to try rooftop next time as I'm sure that would be a fun vibe with beach views and all. Our waitstaff was nice and attentive. They have a great wine list, even some offerings from their very own Slay Estate and Vineyard. The portions were big so we skipped the apps and starters. I may not have ordered the best choice with the bone-in pork chop, since the meat was a little tough and a little on the dry side, but I thoroughly enjoyed its accompanying garnishes of butternut squash, caramelized onions, kale, and mushroom jus. My friend made the wiser choice with the prime flat iron steak, which was devoured.
