Caviar spread and bread appetizer
Brenda L.

The good: I got a chicken gyro that came with fruit and fries. I also tried a bread and taramosalata (caviar seafood dip) from the appetizers menu. The restaurant was breezy with ceiling fans and ample open windows. It felt like al fresco dining. We were the only customers in the store when we came on a weekday morning. The vegetables were freshly cut and everything was freshly made. The chicken was tender. There was plenty of sauce. The dip and bread plate came with pita freebie. I liked the flavor with the lemon and cucumber. The bad: More raw onion in the gyro would've been good. The interesting:

Damico with a side of fruit

First off the location is great and right off Hermosa Beach. Weather is amazing. But really the staff is friendly, communicative, easy going, and really capture the beach attitude. Its laid back. Food menu has a ton of options. My son had the french toast and loved it. I had the Damico omelette and it was perfect. I always ask for salsa and they had that. Its a casual place with a friendly vibe. Love going here any time Im down in Hermosa early.

Breakfast it's one of the toughest services that you can provide. Last Sunday me and my wife were looking for a place to have Breakfast, and we found Uncle Stavros Café... I asked for an omelette and my wife for some French toast and let me tell you. It was an unexpected pleasure. The food was excellent, very well presented, at the perfect temperature, and with the exact amount of fruit in the side. We were served by the son of the owner, a sweet John guy, with the best attitude in the world, as soon as we arrived, he reserved us with coffee that by the way, was very very good. The place is full of light due to the windows in the ceiling, and a side of the whole space. We enjoyed breakfast as we didn't. In a long time. I highly recommend a place that by the way, it's affordable and fine. You should try it.

french toast and beach burger

very cute place, food was amazing great selection everything sounded delicious. french toast was exactly what i wanted and my bf got the beach burger which was amazing, the owners were so kind and attentive great location and easy parking. will go back and try everything!

Uncle Stavros Omelette with a side of fresh fruit. And the cafe mocha so good!

I just had the best omelette of my life! I've been meaning to do a review for this small family local spot for some time, and today's experience has pushed me over the top. The food quality and presentation here is about as good as it gets. I had the Uncle Stavros omelette today and was blown away how good it was. They use the freshest ingredients and every element was cooked perfectly. If I sound like a fan, so be it. Did I mention the cafe mocha is amazing?! I highly recommend you try this little spot in Hermosa Beach. And maybe along the way (responding to some scathing crazy sounding reviews) give them a little bit of a break if they're off a bit in their hours or if they don't want your laptop in their restaurant. This is a truly classic family operation of good hearted people who do a beautiful job. Come in relaxed, leave with a full tummy and a huge smile for a family affair that does a pretty awesome job. :)

Greek coffee

Really great service here! I think we met the owner. He explained the Greek coffee which my sister and cousin ordered. It has a bit of sugar and coffee grounds at the bottom that you're supposed to drink. I got a cappuccino. Delicious! And probably one of the better cappuccinos I've had in the city. They have a cafe side and a restaurant side. The seating is separated. It's a great location by the beach. It didn't seem to get the amount of foot traffic as other restaurants closer to the pier.

Bank account

Yesterday I had lunch there for $24. I paid Apple Pay $24. and in the morning I discovered that they had charged another $23 from my card. They thought I was a tourist and decided to steal money from my account. They are hacking bank accounts. Be careful people. Don't go to uncrowded small cafes

We came here for breakfast. Small, cozy breakfast and brunch place that's been in this neighborhood for years. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. My partner has dietary restrictions due to his health- wonderfully they made our breakfast plates as requested not soaking in butter or oil. The hash browns were perfectly crisp without being soaked in oil. The servers were here were nice and understanding with our food modifications and requests. This is a nice stop for brunch / lunch if you don't want to go all the way to the pier. Their menu though is limited- only breakfast items & gyros available. Lunch items weren't when we visited.

Hermosa omelette with perfect avocados
Rainy D.

Came here for breakfast on a sunny Sunday morning. The place is tiny but full of life and good food. There were two large groups enjoying their Sunday morning breakfast - one was young families with babies and one with many years of wisdom. I had the Hermosa omelette with hash browns and sourdough toast. The hash browns were brown! Not soggy, not half-cooked - all crispy! The bacon in the omelette was thick and crispy. The tomatoes were fine and the avocado was perfect. And best of all - cholula for my hash browns! Yum. I will be back and for the Greek food next time!

Gyro

I got the gyro, it was pretty good! I would've liked a bit more meat on it. It's a great atmosphere and they have nitro cold brews on tap

So when we heard they were opening a new location in the Redondo Village, we were excited. Even more so to learn they'd be offering dinner and cocktails as well. For a newly opened location, we were thrilled to see they were already well staffed. Coffee and water were served quickly, giving us time to look over the menu. The moment I closed the menu, a server was right there ready to take our order. It was really busy when we visited, so we expected a wait for our food, but no, 10 minutes later our omelette and eggs Benedict arrived. A few minutes after that, the owner stopped by to chat, and we learned how they were able to open the restaurant so quickly. (Turns out it wasn't quick at all, they'd been looking for a location for quite some time.) We were so impressed that we went back two days later for a late afternoon sandwich. The Village was already thriving, but with Martha's here, it just keeps getting better.

So, this afternoon's walk, my friend and I decided to stop in - not quite lunch, not quite dinner ... the best of both! First, the best view, sitting outside with the perfect balance of sun and shade and a view of the ocean. Next, truly one of the best service experiences - Danny! He made a great first impression and just kept raising the bar - his recommendations were spot on. His knowledge of the menu was so helpful and he seemed to truly take joy in making us happy. We shared the Tuna Tataki, Crispy Popcorn Cauliflower, Sweet Potato Fries, and as if that wasn't already over the top and enough ... the Rocket Calabrese Salad with Hanger Steak. I never order steak as I usually don't enjoy it. Danny ensured us this would be the best pairing for the salad and he did not lie! It was cooked to perfection. I might now be a carnivore! We were so full and yet I couldn't leave a leaf, crumb or morsel behind. Oh and because we were talking about tequila - he encouraged us to sample their house infused tequila (infused with pineapple and mango). Oh my! Yeah, I'll be back at a more appropriate drinking hour. This might be my new most favorite spot in the South Bay! I had a pretty solid positive outlook on them. I ordered the "French Toast Latte". I feel like it should have been called the Burnt toast latte. I genuinely took 3 sips and tossed it away in the trash can on the side walk. I tried to mix it and grabbed a straw to do so and it made it WORSE. I'm extremely disappointed that I wasted $7 on a latte. I've had bad coffees before, but this one took the cake. It tasted like milk, and the espresso tasted acidic, burnt have you. At least with other bad coffees I could stomach at least half of it but this was just really acidic. I noticed other people mentioning the coffee scene in LA isn't the same anymore and this attested to that. They started picking up foot traffic & I wasn't going to wait to ask for a remake or anything, I took the L and life moves on. I wasn't going to play Karen about it. The Lamington pastry somewhat saved the experience. This was an extremely moist, spongy, sweet cake that was delicious with coconut flakes on top. She was AMAZING. I snagged a piece off my friends and it was reeallllly good. I would recommend if you like coconut and a softer spongy cake like pastry! Talk about the underdog in this trip. The aesthetic is cute, it's clean and resembles a house. I like the scheme they have going on. The other half looks like a gift shop that I did not go into. They have a restroom available as well inside. Customer service was just customer service. Nothing amazing or bad about it. Pretty standard. We mentioned it's our first time & the girl didn't really care lol. We had questions and it was very whatever kind of vibe. No enthusiasm. Parking would be on the street so good luck!

Last weekend we took my in-laws to see the water and check out the area when they were visiting and when it came time for lunch Cafe Bonaparte was the place they chose. This cafe has a very beach style vibe and a menu that seems perfect for breakfast and lunch if you are in the mood for salads, baked goods, and sandwiches so that's exactly what we ordered. I kept it simple and ordered the Chicken Panini which has Marinated Chicken Breast, Melted Provolone Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Brown Mustard, and Mayo. I also got a bag of chips on the side but those were just lays so let's keep that out of the review. The food came out pretty quickly (that tends to happen with sandwiches and salads) and it was a perfectly fine panini. Even though the food was good, it didn't have any qualities that stood out, but it was solid and that's really all I can think of saying. Overall, Cafe Bonaparte is a solid little spot for sandwiches and salads. The service here was solid, the place itself has a nice environment, and it's location right next to the beach will have be back in the area many times, and maybe, just maybe, I'll have to check out the large baked good selection in the front.
