[[HIGHLIGHT]]Fantastic all around this place has such a beachy, relaxing vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely recommend grabbing a seat on the rooftop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The arugula beet salad was so good I almost asked the chef for the recipe. The crudo was flavorful, and the shrimp tacos were just as delicious! Service was great too! IDE deff come back

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute decor, great food, meh service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Went to Beachlife Grotto for my bday dinner -- got a mix of apps that were all great. Chicken karaage, sourdough (with incredible butter,) and brussel sprouts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We ate on the rooftop, which felt beachy and cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also gave us a free cookie with cream for my birthday (so good!) Took one waiter a while to take our order and another charged us for the wrong meal. Def room for improvement on service but the rest was great.

Jebidiah H was our server upstairs and Trevor was the manager - they both were extremely kind and friendly. They really made us feel special! It was really fun to be on a second story in the riviera - very rare! We went for a little snack and outing. The ambiance is really cool - lots of different style tables and seatings. We got the shrimp cocktail and mud pie. I recommend both! The menu looks pretty good, I'd love to go back and try more.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful rooftop atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the food is absolutely so savory and delicious and well presented. The beet and arugula salad is a must and the single fin is a Felicia cocktail like a guava spritzer or something but man strong and delicious. Give me 6 of these and keep them coming.

Halibut on risotto, brussels sprouts, hangar steak with broccolini and rice

Fantastic meal in the heart of the Riviera Attended a private dinner party at the Beachlife Grotto. The entire downstairs seating area and bar, including a moderate sized private room were reserved. The place is a bit cramped and very loud. Open bar with servers handed out drinks directly or delivered to your table. Dinner included hangar steak and halibut. The steak was tender, medium rare--just how I like it. It came with rice and broccolini which were also good. The halibut looked appetizing but was a bit dry. However, the dish redeemed itself by having a squash risotto to die for. Crispy Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly and had a tinge of sweetness. All portions were sizable. Dessert was a mixed bag. The key lime tarts weren't too sweet and were indeed very tart. The cookies were fluffy and soft but were too bready like a muffin. There is an upstairs deck and gift shop. The only two bathrooms are upstairs. Service was good, nothing to complain about there. Parking is metered wherever you can find it. Overall, a very positive dining experience just 2 blocks from the beach and plenty of other eateries nearby. Will definitely be back

This is a fairly new restaurant, located right next door to Rockefeller. So it's in the Riviera Village. They are normally open in the afternoons during the week, but open in the mornings on the weekends for brunch. There are tables indoors and outdoors. Because it looked a little crowded indoors, I chose a table outdoors. They don't offer any specialty coffees, only drip. So I ordered one of those, with a side of oat milk, and an avocado toast. The toast actually tasted better than it looks. Looks pretty boring, but tasted good. It's more of a bar that serves food than a restaurant. The list of cocktails is longer than the brunch menu. Restrooms are upstairs, along with a general store where they sell merchandise. They also have additional, rooftop dining. If you don't want to take the stairs, there are elevators. Service was good and staff were friendly. I plan to return and try a cocktail next time.

This restaurant is very much just okay! Not great, but I wouldn't necessarily it's terrible. All the restaurants in the riviera are a good experience because of the location however some are much better than others. I wouldn't recommend this one as one of the better options. First, the staff feels unorganized. Two servers came up to my date and I asking what we wanted to drink after we already ordered. This was while we were seated at a table we made a reservation for. Secondly, the menu is small. There is not a lot of options for entrees if you come here hungry. Personally, I didn't like the menu. We got an appetizer so we didn't appear rude and went over to Rebel Republic across the street to order our dinner afterwards. Third, the upstairs isn't comfortable. Some seating is comfortable if you get a couch, but the tables aren't at all. And no heaters were available despite is being freezing. As for the music, it was playing on a small speaker in the corner quietly. I felt like I was in someone's backyard. This place is new, and the two-story display viewing from the outside looks like it would be one of the best options for drinks and dinner on the riviera. I would suggest to look elsewhere like Riveria across the street. BeachLife is not what I expected. Lastly, I will say the country bread and Brussel sprouts are good! The food here isn't bad. But considering all else, I just don't think I'll be back.

We stopped by BeachLife Grotto around 3pm on a Saturday and caught their happy hour (3-5pm), which was a great way to get introduced to this restaurant - a solid menu of $5 and $10 items that actually feels worth ordering from. We started with the bread, which was excellent and easily one of the highlights. Warm, soft on the inside, and nicely toasted on the outside, it had that comforting balance of crisp edges and pillowy interior, and it was presented thoughtfully. From there we shared a mix of happy hour items: brussels sprouts, truffle fries, beef sticks, a Caesar salad, and my friend ordered the burger. Everything landed well for the price point. The brussels sprouts stood out - nicely crisped with good flavor - and the beef sticks were well grilled and satisfying. The burger was solid - your typical burger, but definitely good value - and the truffle fries were exactly what you want during happy hour. I also had a glass of white wine off the happy hour menu, which paired nicely with the food. What really pulled it all together was the vibe. It was lightly raining when we went, so the patio wasn't an option, but inside felt cozy and inviting. Jazz music was playing in the background, the service was friendly and on point, and the space itself is small but thoughtfully set up. It felt relaxed, welcoming, and easy to settle into. It definitely made me curious to come back and try more of the regular menu next time. Overall, it left a great impression - solid food, good energy, and a setting that fits the neighborhood well.

Huge shout out to Sarina and Jedediah for taking care of my husband, myself and our small daughter for my husband's birthday dinner! Back in the summer of 2024 we had a small incident which led us to not be able to enjoy our time at beachlife as we had to leave early. We have been meaning to come back ever since and we finally did this past month! We sat on the rooftop, which is absolutely gorgeous. Great views of the PV Hill and very relaxing beach vibes up there! We ordered many things, but a few callouts to what we enjoyed the most. The sourdough bread starter is really delicious, we enjoyed our Mai Tai cocktails as well! For a main, you cannot go wrong with the Bronzino. It was absolutely divine! We ate, drink, and relaxed for a few hours on the patio, and we were well taken care of and never rushed. The staff is very warm and welcoming, the vibe is trendy and definitely gives you the feeling as if you're on vacation. If you are looking to celebrate a special event or just have a fun Friday night out this spot can accommodate all. We can't wait to visit again!

The seafood was fresh and meaty and the garlicky, spicy sauce kicked the flavor up a notch. We also ordered a side of fries to share and the dip it came with was amazing as well. After 30 more minutes most of our order came out with the exception of the garlic bread. I was told that it takes a significant amount of time to make and asked if i wanted something else instead. I felt an hour for two burritos was excessive so declined adding anything else. Moments later my bread appeared. It took a full hour and some change to receive our order which I thought was unreasonable, especially since at this point we were the only patrons. Overall: Food was alright, reasonably priced, and portions were aligned with the price. However, I would recommend ordering ahead or anticipate a long wait time. Look I would've given this place 3 stars, but the customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Hear me out, this is my experience from last Saturday. So first it can be challenging to find this place, since the pier has so many level to it. Look for the elevators. When you get there, for the first time, you see a main line, well for what? Then you see other lines, well for what? Then you see an oyster line, oh. In order to determine what each line is for, you have to do independent research. From whom? Well the employee, who do not show case any form of customer service. There were so many people lost and confused. To break it down, each "Order Here" has their own area of what can be ordered by the pound and/or cooked. So not all lines are equal. There is a crab line, seafood boil/pre-seasoned seafood, oyster, clams, I think I saw fish and fried platters, which was the longest. So after much deliberation, an employee managed to wrangle the customers to form a line. Although his mannerism seems like I'm just done with this place. One might consider ropes to further avoid these mundane confusions... I got Ana's seafood boil mix, $99. It came with a lobster, dungeoness crab, peeled shrimp, clams, sausage and potatoes. The employee told me about 10 mins. I'm like okaaaay, only 10? I walked to their souvenir shop, nothing crazy or must haves. Just cheap Chinese things with their name printed on. I return in 10 minutes. The guy doing prepping/expediting the pick order was in a frantic state. Older white male, white mustache. He was running around, mixing orders up, couldn't even tell what customers had what. The employee that wrangling folks came to help him collect himself. So 10 minutes wait turns to 15, 20, then 30 minutes. I had 2 other employees check up on my order, they said it's not ready. Okay. Finally about 35 minutes it's ready. He didn't even call out my order, I had to wave my ticket. The first rule of speed of service, never over sell the time. If it's gonnabe 30 mins plus, say 40 mins, gimme a bs reason, short handed, etc, I don't care! But why would you tell me it'll be 10 mins?! So finally got the food. Flavor was pretty good. Lobster, was okay. I wished the shrimp had the head on. Clams were big. Sausage was good. Potato seemed like the diced ones from a can, they were so small. The crab, however, is the driest. Yep, for a place that exclaims "Quality Seafood," it was kind've of a let down. They taste like the bottom batch of the crab at Las Vegas buffet. You know the batch that sits on the bottom, they don't ever rotate because the employees don't care. So it's just marinating in its own dry filth. The crab was so dry I could put that in an Advil bottle instead of cotton. So now if you ask me, would I come back? Maybe, just maybe. Anytime soon? Nah, not right now. Also with the mention of a tourist trap, it's no different than Seattle's Pike Place and surroundings.

My daughter and I shared the Caesar Salad and Chicken Paillard. The salad was good. I added the smoked fish which had a slightly sweet taste so it was not my daughter's favorite. The Chicken Paillard was amazing! The jidori chicken is very juicy but the sauce takes it to another level. I would order that dish again. Their staff is very nice and helpful. The server who kept refilling our drinks recommended we order french fries to dip into the chicken paillard sauce since we raved about it. That was a good suggestion since we were sharing the dish. Overall, this restaurant was just our style. It is cozy but elevated, the staff is attentive, and the food and wine are delicious.

After reading reviews, I came specifically for the Fish & Chips, and they absolutely delivered. But before I get to that, the service deserves a shout-out. From the hostess who greeted us to our server throughout the meal, everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that we had a great experience. We started with the calamari, which was perfectly cooked and disappeared fast. Then came the Fish & Chips. The fish was crispy, golden brown, and cooked perfectly. What really surprised me was the portion size. These weren't little pieces of fish hiding under a pile of fries--they were massive pieces of cod. My wife and I couldn't stop laughing at how much fish they served. To top it all off, we shared the key lime pie, and it was outstanding. Smooth, creamy, and the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, parking was easy with plenty of paid options nearby, and every part of the experience felt polished without feeling pretentious. Finding a restaurant that nails the food, service, and overall experience isn't always easy, but Salt & Pearl checked every box for us. Safe to say we've already found a reason to come back. Pro tip: If you're ordering the Fish & Chips, come hungry. Those cod portions are no joke.

It's one of those "low-key hidden but worth finding" spots. Don't let the location fool you! I went on a Tuesday during the week when it wasn't busy at all -- nice and chill vibes. But babyyy once 6 PM hit? Dinner time activated. The crowd definitely started rolling in and you could feel the energy shift. So just know traffic picks up later in the evening if you're planning a visit. Now let's get into what matters: The staff? Super attentive and kind. I love when servers check on you just enough without hovering. And the food came out HOT. Not warm. Not "it's been sitting." I'm talking steaming, fresh, straight-to-the-table heat -- which is exactly how a crab boil should hit. Portions were generous because I was overly stuffed and still had plenty left over for the next day (which honestly might be the best part). Nothing like reheating a seafood boil and running it back. Thank you for hosting me and my guest -- we had such a good experience. I'll definitely be back for my next crab boil fix lol

We waited for 30 minutes to be seated even though plenty of tables were open, waited another 30 minutes to place an order, waited another 40 minutes until the food came out. At least the decor was "cute" pretty standard for a seafood boil and had TVs. We got 3 pounds of shrimp with the flavor mix and the spiciest level of heat in addition to some Cajun fries. The seafood was so bland and the fries were so dry with little to no seasoning.
