The ONLY bad thing I can say is that you can no longer order by the slice through delivery! Now that that is outta the way...OMG!!! Not sure if this is a fair review because I got their mushroom and truffle pie ONCE and have been stuck on that one ever since! I've gotten a good 5+ times and haven't ventured anywhere else on the menu! Why?? Because guess what! That MUSHROOM and TRUFFLE IS TO DIEEEEEE! Yum! GET IT and you're welcome!! read more

The quality of the pizza has been downhill since they first opened. Pizza is very doughy and lacks any firmness. It's like eating a big dough roll with pizza sauce & cheese. Mozzarella also has no taste but unfortunately this what the state of New York style pizza in DC minus Slice Joint & sometimes Grazie Grazie. DC - get your shit together! read more

I've been on the hunt for good pizza in DC. I came on a Monday afternoon to grab a slice. Inside has limited seating available, but it seems like more of a takeout restaurant. I ordered the mushroom and truffle pizza. Looking back I wish I also got a slice of their cheese to try a more traditional slice, but the mushroom wasn't bad. Service was quick and easy. After you order they take the slice you requested and heat it for you so it's hot and ready. The inside decor is really cool and fun too. Overall it's decent pizza, but I do want to come back and try their cheese New York style slice and their Detroit style pizzas as well. read more

If you're in the area and you're looking for a quick slice of pizza I would stop by Slice & Pie. I thought the pizza was good. I would prefer a little more seasoning, but it you're looking for a quick slice on the go I would definitely recommend. I loved the color scheme of the entrance and the the inside. The staff were very welcoming. I rode around this area all the time and I've never stopped in Slice & Pie. I'm glad I was introduced to pizza carry out. I plan to stop again if I'm in the area. read more

I got a chance to try Slice & Pie and it did not disappoint. From the mind of Giulio Adriani, whom hails from Italy with over 30 years of pizza pie making dating back to his grandma, this guy knows how to cook! Seriously, after reading a bit about his backstory, where he's studied, he's like the Bruce Lee of Pizza making. Anyway, I saw the Hawaiian slice with fresh jalapeños, I said fresh, not pickled, and I knew then I had to have it. I also wanted to try the cheese because then, I'm able to effectively taste the sauce without whatever toppings I'm struggling with. The sauce is sweet, rich in flavor and I have to say it's rather delicious. The garlic knots, man did they pack a punch full of flavors of garlic, butter, a bit of olive oil & the parmesan. I couldn't have asked for a better tasting dunch meal. The shops small, it has a high top counters but it can only hold comfortably five customers at a time. So, save the pizza eating for home unless you're on your own. The inside decor is nice, it's colorful, full of pink and a mural to the chef behind all the pizza action. Part of my mission to find good NY style pizza in DC! I ordered this in and it came still warm. It felt like a hybrid between NY style pizza and neopolitan because the crust is so so thin and a little charred. They're not floppy though, and the slices are huge! The tomato sauce was also really flavorful and delicious. I'm not sure how this was rated #2 in the country, but it's definitely a worthy contender among dc pizza options. They also have great garlic knots! read more

Best gluten free pizza in DC!! This is not that typical round & crunchy GF crust that seems to be the only option everywhere else...It's soft, fluffy, and the closest thing I've had to a real slice of pizza in a long time. I ordered the GF cheese for delivery. Highly recommend! read more

Fine but overpriced food. My friend and I went on a recent weekday night and split a slice of burrata pizza, garlic knots, and two slices of Sicilian upside down. As it is mostly a to-go place, we were able to place and receive our order quickly. For what the food is, it's way too expensive. A basic cheese slice costs $4 and our slices cost $5.50 each for a moderate-sized piece. We also only got 3 garlic knots for $7. The pizza slices were good but not amazing. The garlic knots were extremely disappointing, with no garlic flavor whatsoever. Slice and Pie is fine if you want/need late-night food before/after a night on U Street, but I wouldn't recommend otherwise due to the cost and other good dining (including pizza) in the area. read more

I was really not expecting the bursting flavors from my slices. I got three items. One slice of The Detroit, which is basically a square pizza, no crust so toppings go from edge to edge, pepperoni with marinara sauce on top. There was some sweetness to this to my surprise! Maybe like a spiced honey? Idk but it was delish. Crust wise it was alright but toppings were good. I also got one slice of The Margarita and that cheese was so good! But one dollop of cheese slipped right off the top when I was walking and eating! Lol. Lesson learned - don't eat and walk with this slice! I was salivating for more. Lastly I got the garlic knots. They were good with the marinara sauce but once I ran out, ehh... it was aiiiight. But the pizza slices were so good, if I had to spend money between those garlic knots or another slice, I'd go for another slice hands down. I'll be back for more! read more

This place is decent as far as DC pizza goes. Not as good as Andy's, but better than jumbo slice or Manny and Olgas. Now I do want to warn my fellow neighborhood folks - I received a coupon in the mail for "buy any pie and get a free cheese pie." When I tried to redeem this coupon, the cashier told me it was only for large pizzas. The coupon does not say this. When I asked why, she said "yeah, that's how they get you." I was so disappointed! I'll still probably go back - it's decent enough and nearby. But was totally bummed! read more

A sell-by-the-slice kind of place with a couple of seats, but one that promises higher-end quality ingredients. I ordered mine in advance, but despite the number of people working there, it took a bit for them to get around to me. When they did, I received a couple of slices that were robustly flavored, albeit cold. Options were limited, however, and the cost to add a topping on a slice was absurd. Ordering a whole pizza would make sense if you had a large group or a large fridge, as even two slices was a meal. While the tang of the tomato sauce and the deep cheese flavor were palpable, they didn't offer quite enough in terms of options, value, or service to impress me. Really enjoyed my first visit here! We got a mix of a few different New York-style pizzas, and really enjoyed them all. Note that the slices are HUGE! We took them home and sliced them in half so my friend and I both got to try all the different options. Cheese - california tomato sauce, mozzarella, provolone - Really solid cheese option. Pepperoni - california tomato sauce, mozzarella, provolone, 'cup and char' pepperoni - I don't normally like the cup-style pepperonis, but these were actually really yummy! Burrata - california tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh burrata, basil, parmesan, olive oil - This was great in theory. In reality it's a typical margherita pizza and I think you lose the essence of burrata in the reheating process. Sicilian pie - (UPSIDE DOWN) california tomato sauce, mozzarella, provolone, pecorino, basil - my first time trying sicilian pizza! It's basically like loaded garlic bread, and very tasty. Garlic Knots - pecorino, parsley, garlic oil - These puppies were good... only thing is that they didn't come with marinara (I didn't realize) and that would really take them up a notch. I wanted to try the detroit style, but we came in at 12 ish and were told that it wouldn't be really for another 15-20 minutes and we didn't feel like waiting that long. Either way, solid addition to the neighborhood for a take-and-go pizza option! read more

My wife and I stopped by after work and were eager to check this place out as who doesn't love pizza and would turn away a free slice? However, when we walked in, we saw that the seating area was small with two high tops, so don't expect to come here with a large group as it's more of a grab-and-go situation. The slices themselves were a bit oily, but that is to be expected from a New York-style pizza slice overall; I was happy with the food, and one slice is the equivalent of 2 or 3 slices at a chain pizza restaurant. read more

I got to snag a free slice for Yelp Elite week and so far I can say good things! I had walked by many times and it looks like a cute place for happy hour as well so I hope to go back soon. The pizza is about as close to an authentic New York slice as you can find in pizza-inferior DC. Good tasting ingredients and plenty of cheese! Yum! My girlfriend and I just left this restaurant. Normally I would just rate the food but that is irrelevant because THERE WAS A RAT CRAWLING ACROSS THEIR PIPES RIGHT OVER WHERE THEY SERVED THEIR PIZZA AND WHERE CUSTOMERS ATE!! My girlfriend saw it and discreetly asked to speak to the manager. She told him what she saw and he thanked her for the information and said he was also disturbed by the siting. This is another rare hidden gem in the city, quality pizza at a a reasonable price. I have to say that some staff is more friendly than others but it's okay since it's more for a quick grab and go. One suggestion I have for them to consider is adding garlic with cheese inside it would be bomb! Focaccia is good and my favorite pizza form their selection is their burrata pie. We came here for the famous Detroit pizza and it didn't disappoint. I got a slice of the Mushroom and Truffle pizza. A white pizza with tasty mushrooms that after it comes out the oven they pour truffle oil on it and thus the pizza ends up dripping in oil, it should just be a light drizzle. The classic Sicilian upside square pizza was delicious! The crust is my favorite part of pizzas but unfortunately I couldn't eat mine because I saw the man behind the counter touching each pizza with his bare hands to adjust their positioning on the display plate. They have 6 bar stools so you can sit against a wall and eat or take out. You can purchase pizza by the slice picking from what is in the display case and then they heat it back up in the oven. They have wine, beer and sparkling water. read more

Started off rough.... I erroneously walked in the restaurant next door (same chef/ownership) .... I was confused; didn't look like the "pics"..... the folks there weren't the most pleasant ...... left and got in my car and then noticed the "other side" for the take out pizza. Got back out and went in apprehensively and the person there wasn't the most pleasant either...went ahead and ordered a slice after all of that. It's a small place, but I love their pizzas! They sell by the slice or you can order a whole pie. They have two long tables and a few counter seats. I recommend ordering togo if you can. Meat Lover New York Style Pizza - the pepperoni was delicious and I loved all the meats on it! Pepperoni Square Pie - Tons of crispy pepperoni cups. Easily my favorite and I would eat this every day if I could. Upside Down Square Pie - No frills, but delicious still. read more

This is by far the best slice DC. It's also the closest thing to a NY pizza spot that exists here. You won't find a conveyor belt oven to heat slices like you will at Andy's. Their garlic knot prices are outrageous and they should have garlic powder alongside the crushed red pepper but it's an objectively good slice, not just a good for DC slice. read more

I ordered a pie with Light sauce, Mushrooms and extra cheese. that is NOT what I received. I cannot eat tons of tomato sauce, however instead of what I ordered, I had mushrooms, extra Sauce and Light cheese. I gave the server a chance to make it right so I went back in, opened the pie and asked: "is this light sauce and extra cheese"? to which he stuttered and landed on "Y-Y-Yeah"! I'm from Newark NJ, lived in NYC, THIS WAS THE WORST "New York" Style pizza I have ever had! I didn't make a big deal out of it. just left and I will never return! read more

It's a very unassuming place where you can sit down and have a lunch or dinner or you can get it to go. I decided to get mine to go. I was greeted by friendly cashier. She asked if it was my first time there and I said yes. She explained how the ordering process works and explained a little about each sandwich. I decided to try the RBG, which was $18. I believe all sandwiches are $18. I was a little surprised by the price, but I wanted to try it. The RBG is delicious pork sandwich with coleslaw and a soft, yet crunchy bread. Don't get me wrong. I am not a crunchy bread sandwich type of girly. But this bread was just right for this sandwich. I had the ability to eat the entire sandwich with the bread not becoming too soggy and falling apart. The pork was tender and flavorful, the slaw was crunchy and tart. It was a wonderful combination. The only negative thing that I have to say is that it is a really large sandwich! So, make sure you bring a friend to eat the other half...so you won't be tempted to eat it all like I did!
