I passed by this place so many times during my walks and wanted to fall in love with the pizza so bad, so I'd have something to reward myself with on my takeout days. While the pizza was okay, it didn't knock my socks off. I went on a really hot day and it was pretty hot in there. Not sure if that's how it typically is but I mostly felt bad that the employees had to endure that type of heat along with the running ovens. I got a slice of the Detroit pepperoni. It was fine, just didn't really taste very fresh, which I get to an extent since it is from the slice section. Also got the famous burrata slice but it was too soupy for me. Garlic knot was solid though. I'm still giving this place a high rating because they have a versatile menu, the food is solid, and it's a good price point.

Came here just to grab a slice of pizza to tide myself before dinner. It's small inside with minimal seating. Staff was courteous when I placed a slice of the Federalist Pig. The pizza is thin crust and the brisket was tender. A delicious snack!

Always happy a slice shop is in the area. I'm from NJ so I have a deep passion for pizza. It's pretty good overall and most definitely a pickup spot (there are a few tables). The grandma slices remind me a lot of L&B Spumoni Gardens which is great. Sandwiches were fine. I prefer the pizza. We got our food super fast which is a huge plus if you're stopping by for a quick lunch.

Came in on a Thursday around lunch the place only had one other customer. The lady at the register was not friendly. No hello or how're you just what can I get you? She was pretty blunt with other customers and not friendly with the others in the kitchen. They do have gluten free pizza but it is not advertised on their menu. After we had waited for 10-15 minutes and watched 4 other people get food that came after us I heard her ask the kitchen, "do you have the gluten free in?" They said no. So we waited another 10-15 minutes. Once we finally received the pizza, the gluten free pizza was burnt and also undercooked... the worst combo for a pizza. It was also very hot in the restaurant so not a pleasant spot to eat at, they also have very limited seating. Don't think I would come back.

Absolutely blown away by the gluten-free pizza here! Hands down one of the best I've ever had. The crust was so perfectly crisp, soft, and chewy that I had to triple-check the label to make sure it was actually gluten-free--it was that good. Topped with fresh, flavorful sauce, cheese, and basil, every bite was perfection. The staff was very friendly, and it was nice to have a few seats available to sit and eat. I'm looking forward to my next trip to DC so I can return for more! Highly recommend to anyone, gluten-free or not!

Great spot! Inside was nice... definitely just the vibes of a small to-go pizza spot. I really liked their fun neon pink color scheme. It was clean too. I got the burrata pie which was delicious... crispy and flavorful and a solid NY slice. It came out pretty fast. No complaints!

We were craving pizza and noticed that Slice of Pie Pizza offers gluten free options. I called the restaurant to confirm that they take the necessary precautions to avoid cross-contamination, and they reassured me that they clean and bake everything separately. My husband really enjoyed the Hawaiian pizza, and I must say, the GF Hawaiian pizza was pretty good. The dough was amazing--it wasn't overcooked and was soft and delicious. I do wish my pizza had a bit more cheese. Next time my sister's in town, we're definitely going to dine in.

Visited the NOMA/Union Market location This location has a good selection of pies including: Burrata, BBQ Brisket, Mushroom, Pepperoni, and meat lovers. The pies are out fresh! The crust is thin and lightly charred for a slight chewiness. The garlic knots are solid and taste like fresh wheat rolls. (Not super garlicky) and comes with a side of sauce Solid choice for Union Market

croquettes -probably sweet potato. No idea what the dipping sauce is it was good though

This was my first visit, I'd dropped in for a quick bite because it was in the right spot on my way home, & the sign piqued my curiosity. I was hoping to see a pie / slice with a little bit of green - veg on it, but since they didn't have any of that I was waffling between the burrata and what turned out to be the Sicilian. The guy at the front was giving "manager who resented having to fill in at the front due to a call out." Just a hunch. Maybe he was in foreclosure or his dog died, idk. He seemed impatient and completely disinterested in me or other guests. He never noticed, never asked, nor seemed to care that it might be my first time there... or that people return and recommend businesses to others when they have a good experience. I was visually perusing and reading everything and looking inquisitive as one often does on a first visit, in addition to asking questions based on the poor /nonexistent signage. I pointed & asked what ingredients were in one pie & he said "you want the Sicilian?" rather abruptly. There was no language barrier. So it was awkward having to ask him *again* what was in the pizza. He provided no explanations or recommendations, just silence and watching me vacantly while I struggled to make a choice... again, because the pizzas weren't labeled or apparent on the awkwardly positioned menu screens high up on the ceiling directly above the pizza. I didn't notice the menu screen until just after I asked for the pizza I pointed to but couldn't name -since there were neither labels nor words coming from his mouth. When I started to read the menu directly above me, "croquettes" caught my eye. And I said "oh I didn't notice those up there right above my head." Yet another awkward moment of silence while I waited for the way too quickly wiping menu screen to reappear so I could catch a split second glimpse of the price and description. The screen flashed away so quickly I only caught a glance of the croquette description - something about potato and maybe sausage... I've been craving croquettes so I switched my order to that. Still no recommendation from the guy waiting on me to order. Clearly, the guy was not interested in explaining, introducing, or upselling me anything so I decided not to ask about beverages and just got for a bottle of water. The croquettes, aka glorified tater tots, had a decent flavor, and a nice little crisp on the outside, but the inside was kind of liquid like cream of wheat. At least they looked and tasted like sweet potato tater tots. The white dipping sauce, which was a mystery since there are no descriptions on their yelp menu, tasted really good. The ambience was clean, fine , up-to-date, adequate, functional .

Slice & Pie is 2nd place for "best pizza slice in the U.S.", so I had high expectations, but had a very underwhelming experience. Staff were not very friendly or welcoming either. We ordered the burrata slice (Cali tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh burrata, basil, Parmesan) mushroom slice (Parmesan cream, mozzarella, mushroom, garlic, truffle oil, parsley), Detroit style slice (tomato sauce, mozzarella, provolone, hot honey, pepperoni), and truffle fries. I appreciated how thin and crispy the burrata and mushroom slices were. The slice of burrata pizza was a bit too salty, and could've used more tomato sauce. The slice of mushroom pizza was quite unflavorful, which was disappointing. The Detroit style slice was also underwhelming, and the slices of pepperoni weren't even crispy. Each slice was $5.50. The truffle fries were also very mid, they weren't even crispy and didn't even taste like truffle. The fries honestly tasted like cafeteria fries. Overall, pretty disappointing experience with the pizza and service. The space inside is very small, but has eclectic decor. Given our experience, I'm not too inclined to come back. I think Andy's Pizza is superior in terms of taste, menu options, and service.

    Overpriced garlic knots

Will not be going back for pizza at Slice & Pie Pizza. I ordered online and there was a point of sale surcharge - yeah, no thanks. I ordered to pick up at 5:15. I arrived at 5:15 to pick up for a birthday party and they hadn't even started the pizza. The large garlic knots were basically three small dinner rolls with garlic salt and cheap Parmesan cheese - for $7.00. Overall spent $55.00 with tip for Wawa quality pizza that was cold and greasy by the time I got it home 5 mins away, and joke of garlic knots. Why does all DC pizza have to be this bad?!?

    Tara B.

Food: good for what it is, they did not have most of their sides available at my visit, only had "garlic knots" Service: guy was nice however there was a long line of people waiting for their food and people getting annoyed at longer than wait time promised - unsure of what exactly was backing things up Vibe: chill, casual spot, limited seating Parking: very limited paid street parking Pricing: fair for market price

    Lia M.

I was so excited to finally get a good slice in the city, but that didn't happen. Pizza was barely heated up and it was very bland. The perfect cheesy deliciousness one would expect was not apparent. Even the garlic knot was boring. Neither one of us could finish our order. This is yet another place that is only good after a night out.

I didn't want to eat at the hotel, so I checked my Yelp app and saw that there is a sandwich spot nearby. I decided to walk a few blocks and try it out. I was glad I did! It's a very unassuming place where you can sit down and have a lunch or dinner or you can get it to go. I decided to get mine to go. I was greeted by friendly cashier. She asked if it was my first time there and I said yes. She explained how the ordering process works and explained a little about each sandwich. I decided to try the RBG, which was $18. I believe all sandwiches are $18. I was a little surprised by the price, but I wanted to try it. The RBG is delicious pork sandwich with coleslaw and a soft, yet crunchy bread. Don't get me wrong. I am not a crunchy bread sandwich type of girly. But this bread was just right for this sandwich. I had the ability to eat the entire sandwich with the bread not becoming too soggy and falling apart. The pork was tender and flavorful, the slaw was crunchy and tart. It was a wonderful combination. The only negative thing that I have to say is that it is a really large sandwich! So, make sure you bring a friend to eat the other half...so you won't be tempted to eat it all like I did!
