This Slim Chickens is fine. Like, it's chicken strips and basic sides. I decided to give it another chance and ordered a family meal in the app. That was a mistake. There was a backlog of food in their window to the kitchen, some of which did end up being mine, after I had to wait about 15 minutes past the scheduled pickup time the app gave me. While the food just sat there. Had to ask for my Mac and cheese (which had been sitting there), which annoyed the worker. Then she tried to tell me that was a large potato salad. Huh??? I'm very confused about the low stars on this place and I'm choosing to assume it's because of when they were new. If the food and service today has been this way, there should be a line to eat here. 1st visit, opted to go inside vs drive thru to have time to view the menu and surprised to see such a variety of options. The gentleman working the counter was also bringing food out to the patrons and keeping the dining area clean. As he hustled, he was so friendly. Off his suggestion, I ordered the Chicken Club on Toast vs the Bun (do this), Fries and Mac n Cheese. Side of Cayenne Ranch plus a drink. The space is comfortable and inviting to eat in, several table options depending on your group size. Beverage station is self serve and I went with 1/2 Cut Tea, sweetness on point. My food was brought to me and at 1st bite of the Mac n Cheese, I already knew I'd be getting a 2nd one to go home! Chicken seasoned and cooked well, the toast was great and the bacon was crispy! They were dry like some of the other reviews claimed. The sauces were good. That having been said we got the food to go, it was a large order, and brought it back to my work so I ate probably 15-20 minutes after it had been cooked. My fries were soggy and limp by then and the box it was in was wet cardboard!!! They need to change those boxes unless they get them for free! Really great catering!! We had the food catered for a company lunch, and everyone was really happy with it. All the lunches were packed and included sauces. The only note was every container contained a different (2) sauces but none of the packaging was labeled to know what was inside. We have the Slim's app and had been texted a deal. The deal was: 25 tenders for $25 if you order on the app. Since we are cheap AF, we ordered just this to feed everyone on our way out of town. The online order said it would be 10 minutes so I ordered in the parking lot and we headed in to get our order. The "10 minutes" turned into nearly 30!!! After waiting for a bit I went up there to check on our order and the guy at the counter was like, "Oh, you're the online order." And still continued to wait some more. We finally got our order, it was hot, so that's good. Most, if not all of the tenders were teeny tiny. 25 for $25 means $1 per tender and in our opinion, most were not worth this price. The MORE shocking aspect was that the normal price is $39.99 for 25. So normally they are $1.60 per tender. I don't know if maybe when they have these "deals" they give you the tiny tenders to cut down on their "profit loss." We were expecting with 25 tenders, we wouldn't be able to finish them. Not only did we gobble them down, we broke into our road trip snacks to feel full. Other than the lengthy wait and the tiny tenders, the sauces were not accurate either. Well, I can say so far is the Buffalo Chicken sandwich is pretty tasty! It isn't hot or too warm. It is more lukewarm/cold. Not sure if the buns and veggies made it this was but if you want a hot chicken sandwich this won't be it. Well mine wasn't anyway. The Mac and cheese was ok. Cheesy and cold as well. The cheese they sprinkled on the top wasn't even melting which just goes to say it wasn't warm enough to melt it. It was ok, I put in Microwave and warmed it up and added pepper and it was really good! The flavor is on point for everything it's just the temperature that it was slacking in. I've seen the lines so I wanted to check it out. I went at an off time when there wasn't a line. It was fine. I got some chicken tenders, fries, as well as wings. The tenders I'd rate below Raising Caine's and it wasn't as fast. I also love the Texas Toast at Caine's. I liked that it was tenders more than the nuggets at Chick Filet, but they are so fast they are in a league of their own. The wings were good but not great, a nice treat as you don't get them at most fast food establishments. I saw a lot of the reviews complain about the staff. They were perfectly courteous when I was in but there was a feeling of malaise. Maybe it was just the weird (3pm) time I was in. I will admit I've never written a review for a fast food place, but this experience was so uniquely horrible that I felt morally obligated to share my story. I am writing this after my fourth and hopefully final visit. I work late, so when I get off, the options are this place, Steak and Shake, or McDonald's. Hence, my returning multiple times after bad experiences. I will say the food is fine. It's probably not as good as Cane's but it's open later. Their main selling point is they've got a bunch of sauces to choose from. They have a good housemade (at least they say) ranch. However, it took me three visits to get it. On my first visit, instead of ranch, I got barbecue sauce. No big deal, honest mistake. I didn't think much of it. I'll just get the ranch next time. Now, I blame myself for this folly. Fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice... This time I had my heart set on the ranch. Even ordered an extra one for 60 cents for a total of three cups. I know I should have checked to make sure before I drove away. But in my wild excitement, I didn't check the bag. It wasn't that they gave me the wrong sauce; they just didn't give me any sauce at all. Now, I was getting irritated. I was not going to make the same mistake three times. On my third visit, I made sure to check the bag and confirm ranch in the box. It was confirmed, ranch secured, mission accomplished, headed home. I opened up the ranch to find the saddest excuse for a half pour of ranch in each of three cups. I bet it came out to a total of a cup combined. Robbed. I learned my lesson. Confirming ranch presence was insufficient. I needed to confirm the ranch cup of volume as well. So on my fourth visit, when I likewise received a ranch cup filled a third of the way, I was sure to point it out. It must be a mistake, that can't possibly be an extra 60c sauce serving. Maybe I got a fluke, I assumed. The lady at the window was irritated that I asked, but confirmed that "that's just how we fill 'em". And that if I want another one of those, it's another 60 cents. End of story, period, window closed. So that was it. I tried so hard to accept and forgive the mistakes. I really wanted to like this place because at 2:30AM my options are, well, slim. But this saga drove me out of my mind. Dont take the same path I took. Be forewarned and stear clear. read more

How is this place so bad? Seriously, absolutely nothing about this experience was good. I waited 55 minutes from driving in to getting my food. Halfway thru the line I got my drinks (Diet Coke) and it was BAD. Like I can't even explain the taste, like a mix of diet coke, Dr Pepper, sanitizer, mildew, poison, who knows. I got someone to refill and it came back identically to the first. Just dumped them. At some point half the staff comes out and takes a smoke break. Not to mention there are about 60 cars in line. I just cannot imagine what is happening inside that store, but there was this tall man in a pink suit doling out apologizes and bags of food who I assume was the manager. I don't know whether to pity him or blame him. 30 mins later I get my food, finally, and the order is completely wrong. The receipt had my name on it with the order (literally just 2 chicks plates and some sauces), but in it is a sandwich, no sauces, and a box with some of the sloppiest fried pickles I've ever seen, almost floating in grayish grease. I give it back, complain, wait another 15 mins, get a bag of food and I just leave. 10 mins later, i get home and find out there's no sauces, and it's like the food was left out for 3 hours. The chicken was dry, the breading was moist, the fries were cold, damp potato noodles, the flavor was it was so bad my trash would have thrown it back up if it could. We complained to their corporate line, got a $20 certificate out of it, and I just threw it away. Seeing the reviews as of late it doesn't look like they've improved in the last 3 weeks. It seems to me they just hire anyone, train no one, and have no sense of hospitality or customer service at any level except corporate. Raze this place and replace it with a Zaxbys (which still isn't as good as Canes down the road, tbh) or even Lee's, or a freakin subway, and it'll do the community a service. read more

I was excited to learn that a new restaurant was entering the neighborhood. Researched Slim Chickens and discovered it is a chain restaurant. What attracted me to this place was the southern sides, late night hours, and the variety of choices. My first attempt was a fail. Line was wrapped around the building. Ummm....NOPE! Take two was better. The next day at 10:00 AM I ordered online for an 11:30 AM pick up. My food came out hot and fresh to my curbside spot at about 11:35 AM!! Save the frustration. Order ahead. I loved the potato salad and okra best of all. The potato salad had so much flavor! Both sides maintained their structural integrity which I totally respect! Especially from a fast food restaurant. Highly recommend getting a side of gravy to dip your toast in! DIVINE! The Mac and cheese was def better than "cafeteria" Mac and cheese but I still didn't love it. Too thick and too sharp of a cheddar taste. With some at home doctoring this could be better. My brownie dessert was cloyingly sweet and not particularly southern but I like that I now have a cute little slim chickens Mason Jar. I've also got a keeper cup that features St. Louis landmarks etc. RAD. The best is not saved for last, unfortunately. What should be the star of the show, the chicken, was NOT! It wasn't very tender and was far too salty and skimpy. Is that what they mean by their namesake? The chicken was indeed slim! My spouse and I ventured to Slim Chickens for an evening snack. We had seen the constant construction updates as we drove down Hampton and were excited to see that they had opened. I'm a big fan of Cane's and Slim Chickens seemed pretty similar, so it was must try. We arrived at the drive-thru where the employees waved us through to one of the two drive-thru lanes. At the beginning of the line, there was a place to scan a QR code for the menu, so that was really helpful. The trouble started once we got in line. The line was moving... so... so... slow. So slow that there were many cars that hadn't ordered who just decided to go elsewhere. You could clearly see why the line was moving so slow. There were about 10 employees that were just roaming around aimlessly. They were either talking with the other employees or slowly completing their tasks. There were only one or two people working on taking orders. The way orders were taken seemed a little inefficient as well. There was one person taking orders, while another person would run around putting sticky notes on the cars with the person who had order's name. Why not just allow the name to be inputted while the order was being taken, along with a description of the car. The person that took our name also spelled my spouse's name wrong, even after she spelled it out a few times. We ended up waiting 40 mins from getting into the drive-thru to getting our food. As for the food, that's probably a slight redeeming factor, the reason I didn't give Slim Chickens a one star. We ordered the 3 & 3 meal, which came with 3 tenders, 3 wings, fries, Texas Toast, two dipping sauces (we got Slim Sauce), and a drink. Everything except the wings were mediocre. We got the garlic parmesan wings, and they were pretty darn good. The wings were crispy and had really great flavor. I'd honestly go back just for the wings and nothing else. Once I finally got to the speaker to place my order I decided this wasn't "fast food" and I wouldn't be breaking my rule since this was anything but fast so I was gonna order a grilled chicken wrap. Plus, you know they are slow when you are greeted with "did you want to get out of line or place an order". Interesting sales pitch. I ordered, moved up... not enough for the person behind me to order but moved a smidge. Then I got bored...I noticed cars leaving the line. Lucky ducks. I also noticed they had curbside pickup. Hmmm, 2 cars were waiting there - wonder how long they were there. And then I also noticed the friendly blow up waving on the side of the parking lot trying to lure people to visit. Then about 25 minutes later it's like everyone woke up and started working. 2 people brought out the meals for the cars in the curbside pickup spots and the jeep 2 cars up from me paid and got his food right away and then the car in front of me... same thing. I noticed the time. 7pm. I wonder if everyone had taken a dinner break at dinner time and then they all came back to work together. Nice team mentality however... So was it worth the wait?
