    The sandwich in ?
    Joseph S.

One of the many overpriced spots right near the water. Busy place but we got in just before the rush. Service OK with a bunch of under trained young folks. Started out w/ a coke that came from a non-functioning dispenser. We had 2 beers, a salad with shrimp (at $6 each), and a cod sandwich. All decent. But there was a hair in the sandwich. Reported to the waiter but it was like talking to a "deer in the headlights". Damages with tip was $82. Dine at your own risk.

Flavors - 4.6/5 Textures - 4.5/5 Presentation - 5/5 Value for Money - 4.2/5 Would return? Yes Must-try - Halibut Their pan-seared halibut stole the show with broccolini, oyster mushrooms, dates, tahini-pickled chilis, and a sprinkle of almonds. It was a flavor symphony that left me in awe, easily one of the best dishes I've had this year. The Arctic char on a coconut lemongrass broth was a delightful surprise. The delicate flavors of the char were perfectly complemented by the fragrant and exotic broth. While the hanger steak was well-executed, it failed to leave a lasting impression. It lacked that wow factor that makes a dish truly exceptional. Stick to their seafood offerings for an unforgettable experience. The crab croquettes and Brussels sprouts were undeniably delicious, but they didn't reach the heights of culinary innovation. They were good, but not mind-blowing. The halibut ceviche, on the other hand, was a tangy refreshing delight that combined very well with the house-made chips. Last but not least, their clam chowder with bacon and preserved lemons was a creamy indulgence. However, the richness might be a bit overwhelming for some palates. Slip 14 knows how to deliver memorable flavors, with a few misses along the way.

Don't call it a comeback and mojito

Nice spot for drinks and oysters! My friend and I wanted a pre-dinner drink and oyster appetizer so we came here. It's a great location on the water a little off the main drag. I ordered the don't call it a comeback which has ginger infused vodka, passionfruit, citrus and vanilla but it's surprisingly not too sweet and very ginger forward. My friend enjoyed her off-menu mojito. Then we shared 1/2 oysters. They have different varieties that rotate. We had ones from Nantucket and wellfleet. The wellfleet ones are my absolute favorite. They were all very fresh and shucked well, and came with homemade mignonette and tangy oyster sauce. The service was great as well!

A side view of the porched dining area at Slip 14, located right at the harborside. Such a beautiful location in the heart of Nantucket.

Very good traditional seafood fare, on the harbor. Extremely friendly staff and unbelievably fresh raw bar. We loved this place.

Clam chowder was delicious. Service was terrible. I waited twenty minutes to pay my tab.

Anywho... bar and grill side does not take reservations, which is nice. We came for a later dinner, so they will check IDs at the door. I did have a little bit of difficulty finding the hostess but once I did, I was seated right away. The service was great! If you have Greyson as your server, you will be in for an AMAZING night. And the food is excellent, too!! We had an amazing array of appetizers, my favorite bings the vegetarian taquito and the feta dip. I highly recommend ordering both. The crostini and the gazpacho were also very tasty. As for my main, the eggplant pasta, I couldn't recommend it enough. Plus, there was plenty to take home for later!!! The restaurant is a bit loud in the evening because the bar is quite lively. They boast good drinks and good music! A dinner at say, 6pm, would be more calm if that is your vibe. Either way, I'll be back soon!!

Straight Wharf is staying its course. My most recent visit was solid, but I don't necessarily…read morethinks warrants 5 stars. The $90 prix fixe includes an app and an entree - pricey. The Buffalo fried fish app the waitress recommended wasn't my favorite and doesn't seem to be a dish that should be on the menu. It def felt like TGIFridays met Nantucket but not in a good way. Literally a deep fried block of fish smothered in buffalo sauce served on like a whipped blue cheese spread. Honestly, I think it was trying to elevate Buffalo when Buffalo can't be elevated. The fish entree I had was fine. Nothing out of this world. Actually quite unmemorable. Overall, $90 for 2 dishes that were fine, the app being even on a don't order suggestion, is a little jarring. Service and ambiance was great. I love the comp bread and little dip amuse bouche. Overall, fine. I think I ordered wrong, but I do think there are some better value and more exciting food happening at other places.
