Disappointing and over priced... Had the oysters and crab/artichoke dip for apps. Very blah and bland in taste. I didn't like the condiment that came wit the oysters. The classics are better. Our server took forever to come over to give us water. My Bloody Mary was watery. A cup of their soup - Good clam chowder - was a typical $3.50 cup, not worth $7. My napkin reeked like mildew and made my hands smell. There's too many other places to try. Avoid this place. read more

First time at Slip 14 and the last. Took some people from out of town here. Very disappointing. 3 of us had the Ahi tuna. It was tasteless and inedible. Very chewy. One of us had to get up to get salt and pepper. Waitress was nowhere to be found. Service was poor. Very disappointing. read more

My halibut was delicious, the other dishes were a bit overcooked but overall the food was pretty good. The service wasn't great, some of the drinks were very sweet and the mint was pretty brown. The food was the better part of the meal overall. read more

I'm giving Slip 14 three stars even though I didn't eat there, because of the interaction I just had with the manager on the phone. Yesterday I canceled a dinner reservation for two at Slip 14 a couple of hours before my wife and I were supposed to show up. We had made the reservation via RESY, which clearly states that we're liable for a $25/person cancellation fee. I knew that, and I get why it's important to the restaurant to not have people cancelling on short notice, but I've never been charged the reservation fee by other restaurants. And I figured they wouldn't have trouble filling our table for two. What upset me was that the Slip 14 manager told me that the charge was between RESY and me, when in fact the fee is up to the restaurant's discretion, and they have to manually initiate it. If the manager had simply said "always charging the fee is our policy and we're not going to reverse it," I think I would have been okay with that. And he did offer to give me a gift card (which I declined because I rarely visit the island). But to tell me that I need to take it up with RESY? That didn't seem right. Needless to say, I now have a bad feeling about Slip 14, and don't intend ever to find out whether the food is any good. read more

Slip 14 has slipped since my last visit in 2011. Our Bloody Mary's were bland and boring, even after we added more pepper sauce and horseradish. My fish tacos were unmemorable. Awe bummer! We were really wanting to go somewhere casual and yummy to cool off. It was hot as blazes outside to the point where I felt dizzy. We sat down on the patio and had to move twice because there was no breeze at all. We ordered the tuna sliders and there were two tiny little burgers with wasabi, really? The tuna looked weird and there was no flavor at all on these burgers so I just ate the tiny bun and left hungry. On the other hand, my sister went here and raved about the Gazpacho! read more

Heading over with my in-laws and four little girls 12 - 5. Stated with a Mojito as to calm my nervous as a combo of in-laws and low blood sugar could ruin any dinner. Drinks were super. Kids had clam chowder, calamari (a little intimidating for the young ones at first, but they enjoyed it), I cut up the chicken dish for them, came with yummy Kale and lentils that my wife and I enjoyed. I had scallop which were smaller (which I like better than the big ones) and full of yumness! My wife has the tuna (there are two on the munu, the one in the upper right hand corner on the menu), and she loved it. enjoy! read more

Had dinner here with family, party of 6, on Monday of the Independence Day week (read: packed). Some family had been before so we already knew we'd be getting a good meal. Sat on the patio. It's a beachy setting on the pier so plastic tables and chairs are par for the course. Had the seared tuna. The staff here was incredibly accommodating for our picky needs. For my tuna I swapped out the artichokes for a side of spaghetti squash. So glad I did. For me, the squash was the star of the night. Even asked the waitress to check with the chef what he used to make it so I could attempt at home myself. Restroom is a bit off premises and the location is down a ground seashell road. Very friendly, "aim to please" staff, great food. read more

Heard about this hidden gem at end of South Wharf and headed there bc Millie's was closed...best find on the island!!! Great meals and sensational cocktails! You are in for a treat if Emily is tending bar...her Rosè-Rita was refreshing and packs a nice punch and she has such a fun persona! The freshest tuna poke is the taste I will yearn for till next year! Don't tell Legal Seafoods but their clam chowder is better..chock full of clams! And their blackened scallops on a roasted corn bisque was LIT! Great find on a picturesque Wharf with a local feel...and prices are more typical of off-island spots...a truly fabulous find!! Bartender got it to a 4. She was awesome!!!!!! Fish tacos were good. Beers cold. Manager at host stand was indifferent and should likely be canned. A guest pointed out that someone put a cigarette out in dog bowl and he turned to bartender and said, "what do I care, I don't own a dog." That was his approach to guest also. If I were rating him, it'd be less than zero. But luckily he has good staff around him so guest are limited to amount of interaction necessary with him. read more

My brother and I went to Slip 14 on a recent visit to Nantucket. We had been biking all day and wanted a place that was relaxed, but good food. Slip 14 was a perfect fit. Upon entering on a busy night we got a high top table right away. They were very busy and the service was a bit slow, however she was nice and attentive to everything we were looking for. They had a nice cocktail section, but there beer list does need some work. Having a nice selection of beers would have made this a 5 star review. For dinner, we started with the calamari which was served with jalapenos and I think a buffalo sauce. They were very good. The shrimp Oaxaca was good as another app however, I would say the portion was small for the price. We each had a salad mine, Caesar was dressed perfect and was delicious. My brothers Mescalin green salad was overdressed a bit. For entrees my brother had the Tuna, a beautiful choice well presented and very good. I had the hanger steak and Frites also cooked perfect and served with a delicious poblano butter sauce. We were very happy with our dinners. I would go back and also recommend this place to my friends who visit often. read more

Visited Slip 14 last night with my husbands family for a cocktail. Our Bartender was Matt. He was quite frankly, the rudest and most condescending person I have come across in years. My sister-in-law asked about several different "easy" drinks (all of which were unavailable). He then begins to make fun and condescending comments. It was very confusing as to his attitude towards us. Trying to be nice, I told him " I promise we will leave a good tip." He then looks at me and said, "Oh, your one of those people who has to tell me your going to leave a good tip,nice." I was stunned! He was rude the entire time we were there. He and the entire bar staff were rude and unprofessional to our whole group. It was so strange. You'd think for a fun crew of guys and girls spending a lot of money on drinks, they'd at least be nice. There are so many great places in Nantucket to visit; Slip 14 however, is not one of them. Service was slowwww, mainly due to the one bar tender. Drinks were decent but of the twisted mojito and berry cocktail definitely lacked alcohol. Chowder was alright (they call it "best ever" but I found it to be too sweet and not nearly as good as other chowder on island), yellowfin tar-tar was awesome, fried oysters were awesome, and cornmeal crushed calamari was great. What to get? The chowder, duh!!! Dare I say it? It's the best in Nantucket... bold statement - I know - but hands down the best I have found so far. They even upped the ante by making it available in a bowl. The chowder is the ONLY reason I eat here. Great spot for lunch! Stopped in after our ferry ride over and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and quick. Our food came out hot, fresh and fast! The fish and chips were delish! The batter was just right, the fish was fresh and not over-fried. The lobster roll hit the spot, it was lobster salad, but wasn't drenched in mayo on a toasted butter roll. Everything was yummy! Such a lovely atmosphere, sitting next to the adorable little shops on the marina. I could abbsolutely sit and sip a cocktail here for hours! The cocktails are a bit better than the food, but there are definitely some gems on the menu. I will say....... such a delightful location will bring in some rowdy youth during the heat of the summer so keep that in mind. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at the restaurant. Great service ( thanks Mary Kate), and excellent dinner choices. Two of us had the halibut special ( perhaps the purple potato purée wasn't the favorite but the asparagus was tasty.) The other meals were the scallop dish and the statler chicken. I'm not sure what happened to this place. My husband and I have been going to Nantucket every summer since 2010 and I used to love both the food and drinks at Slip 14. We visited again last week and were very disappointed. I had the fish tacos. Perviously, the fish tacos used grill local fluke, which has now been replaced with flounder. This used to be my favorite dish on the menu, but when the tacos arrived there was one tiny piece of fish in each taco. SO tiny, I am not sure how this could be considered a "lunch" dish, felt more like some left over scraps because perhaps they didn't have enough fish for the day. When I politely inquired with the bartender, she was extremely rude and told me "well that's what you get for your money in Nantucket." I have been to the best and most expensive restaurants on the island and this was extremely rude and untrue. My husband ordered the cobb salad with scallops and was also disappointed. The scallops were very greasy, the greens were not fresh, and the avocado had lots of black spots and had a musty flavor that was inedible. The food was a joke and so was the "service". First of all our waitress was very pleasant. I ordered the beet salad which was good despite the fact that it was nothing like I had expected it to be. It was sliced whole beets with only a little bit of greens. I was disappointed at first glance, but once I started eating it, I was quite happy. We looked this place up online and couldn't wait to try it for lunch. The atmosphere and service were great, but I think our expectations were a little too high for the food. After a long morning of traveling, I needed a bloody mary to unwind. The menu said, "spicy". It wasn't spicy, or very good. The fish tacos were ok, but not great. This restaurant has decent food and is in a very good location near the water, but the portions are ridiculously small. While not sky high, the prices are not cheap. Don't go if you have a big appetite or are not ready to order two servings. read more
